today is the day that we're gonna change it from this white color to a custom

be white at the end of today it is gonna be one crazy cool color what color we're
gonna choose definitely shares it's going to be completely custom we have to
make the color ourselves today we have to mix it in a paint bucket so what's
gonna come out to be I have no idea but let's get started we got to get the Jeep
down by the pond so we can get it prepped and ready to get painted a
little mini dog on it just like baby otter oh yeah let's off-road in this
Jeep here we go oh yeah off-roading always getting steep out here shares we
are currently off-roading in the Jeep whoa this is crazy
let's not go into the ponds I steer clear Oh Fred this is making the pot oh
it sure is do you see the snake anywhere come on right now there's still a snake
somewhere in this pond and it's warm today so we might very well might see it

the first step is to tape this car up any areas that we don't want painted so
let's get to work oh sure is check it out my mom's coming
out she's driving the truck hey mom Oh snacks perfect I'm always snacking
alright mom come on down come join the party check it out shares it's coming
along really nicely we got the Jeep it's getting all taped up we got tape there
we got the windows taped up the back window we got mom helping out hey mom I
got the wheels covered going around to the back we even took off the wheel that
was there and we were putting tape on everything we don't want to get paint on
we got Steven up on the ladder cuz he's doing the front of the car it's
almost done whoa this is looking good and once it's
done shares then we can start painting whoa it's looking good Liz looks like
we're done oh this is awesome time to start painting let's do this
let's open our first can of paint and see what color it is whoa this was like
a dark grey this is cool so shares before we paint the final
color on the car we had to start with the base coat so the base coat is going
to be this crazy gray looking color we got it all mixed up now we just got to
pour it into this paint sprayer and get it going
alright let's pour it in Oh too much there we go okay perfect there we go we
got our first amount of Plasti Dip inside this container now we just got to
spray it on I got all my spread you're on let's get painting pushers I sound
like Darth Vader at this mask on what I want it sound like hi I think
that's too big for you that looks funny Jerez this is not gonna be the final
color but let's get spraying stephen is now painting the next coat look at this
thing it's coming out it's so good whoa look at that yeah well this is your card
it's cooking totally different this is awesome I think it's totally like it's
called gunmetal gray that's just a base coat and then we're gonna put an awesome
color on top we have no idea what color it is yet you gotta wait for the
surprise oh yeah share as I did pretty good check
it out car is looking good liz is now up let's do this Liz this is about the
spray your own car Liz's first time ever trying to dip your car
Cera's check it out the Jeep looks so good list it looks so good no I can't
believe how good it looks maybe we'll keep it great oh you want to keep it
great no go sorry I had this mask on sure it
looks so good Carter Liz and I have been spraying this it's looking really good
it's starting to like basically be completely even we're going to add a
light so we're setting up these lights now we got one more coat of gray to do
and then we'll start doing the actual color I can't wait to find out what
color it's gonna be last coat of gray shares we're almost there it's full
teamwork I'm holding the hose party spraying Matt holding the light and
let's blowing the camera oh yeah
we got the final base coat of the Jeep it's all done let's check it out what's
awesome it's so good but it's dark now and I can't keep painting because it's
getting too cold so we have to wait till tomorrow so we'll see you there in three
whew oh yeah sure as we are back today we got
Carter Matt over there mixing up the paint color you ready to see what color
it is so shares check it out this is the base
coat that we did on the Jeep to get it all ready to be painted nice and grey
check it out oh yeah looking good right really cool color it's called gunmetal
grey it looks so good it makes the Jeep look like an army jeep I think it looks
so incredible and the next color we're going to put on top for the final color
is going to look totally insane check it out shares this is the paint right here
but it's not mixed yet Matt go ahead and mix it up what are we adding more color
we're gonna add these like sparkles to make it like shine it's gonna be awesome
yeah sure that's not the final color yet because we're gonna add glitter sparkles
to the paint because you know Liz loves the glitter if you're wondering why
Liz's not here today is because we want to make it a surprise for her so she got
to work on her car she got to paint it this awesome gunmetal gray but to do the
final paint coat card and I are gonna do it so we can surprise her with the real
color she doesn't even know it's gonna be blue it's gonna be a total surprise
to shares get ready let's do this let's dump the paint in three two one go that
is awesome check it out shares this is the glitter
Sparkle that we're gonna add to the paint it's like a greenish blue teal
color and it shines whoa it's like it's literally glitter yeah it kind of looks
like sugar sugar this is gonna be so cool
all right now let's turn it all let's do this
oh yeah test spray on the cardboard oh
that looks so good okay we did the test Brown the cardboard now
we're moving to the car let's start spraying oh yeah whoo
this is gonna look so good
so shares everything's looking pretty good the car is really coming along
running into two issues right now it's it's getting dark and - as it gets dark
the moisture sets in and this Plasti Dip + moisture does not work so we're
working against the clock right now but it's looking really good I can't
wait for this Jeep to be done Shara smash like button for Carter because he
is doing such a good job at spraying this thing oh yeah does that mean we're
done oh yeah we're done painting oh yeah sure
as the paint is almost dry then we got to put the Jeep back together and show
it to Liz oh she's gonna love it this color is so awesome I can't wait to see
what it looks like during the day it's gonna be all sparkly and all glittery
who shares the Jeep is looking awesome liz is going to love it we're gonna need
some sunlight in order to show her yeah let's turn that Sun back on in three two
one whoa whoa the Jeep is done finally everything's peeled off the Jeep was
ready to go this time supreme and it looks awesome I think she's gonna love

Hitting Potholes So Bad They Pop Tires - 4K Slow Motion - See through Car ( E.2 ) - Duration: 8:07.

I'll just pick it up from there.
We are all done with this street.
Because it is way too Dusty here.
Our next stop is Cabrini-Green.
Oak Street downtown Chicago.
Before we get back to it.
I just feel like this car is not stripped down quite enough.
So I'm going to go with my gut.
Remove a few more items and.
Our E-class is ready to hit the streets of Chicago again.
So if you've ever wondered what happens to your car.
When you hit a huge pothole.
You're about to find out.
Okay so that last pothole.
That was about 15 miles per hour.
I think it was kind of lame.
So I'm going to try it again.
And I'm going to go about 30 to 35 miles per hour.
I'm going to try to go as fast as I possibly can to hit it.
And see if we can get some serious suspension travel.
Let's see how that looks.
Let's go.
The first thing that I realized from Those last runs.
Is that we need more high-speed cameras on this car.
And our friends at Vision research.
They were kind enough to send us these cameras right here.
And they also sent us Ed.
So what do you do at Vision research.
I am the senior applications engineer for the company.
So he's going to be here helping us.
Come up with some ways to mount These high speed cameras on this car right here.
What do you think about this project.
This is interesting.
It's very interesting.
I have been working and high-speed in the automotive field.
For over 20 years.
We've done something similar.
But nothing as crazy as this.
We're going to get this thing rigged up with some high-speed cameras.
Try to hit these huge potholes right here.
Which apparently people drive through every day.
And yeah that's it let's do it.

Ed and I just finished mounting the additional high speed cameras.

When you drive your car through a street like this.
First run I'm going to do.
I'm going to do just a straight run down the street.
And try to hit all these cracks and crevices.
And any potholes that are in the way.
Well that was a doozy.
Very unexpectedly I popped both tires.
Believe it or not.
This was something that I was not anticipating.
I'm going to give my friend Ernie a call at Arandas Tires and Rims.
And see if we can get some tires on this thing.
Get this car back over here.
And get a few runs in before the sun goes down.
Alright Ernie just text me he's got the tires.
We're on our way to Arandas.
This thing is shaking around like crazy.
I'm almost to Ernies place.
hopefully he's going to hook us up with some new rubber on this thing.
These are the old tires here.
Yeah they definitely went through a beating.
The car actually made it to Arandas Tires and Rims.
Ernie is going to get some new rubber on there.
And it's going to hit the streets again.
And see what else we can get out of it.
But.
At this point I'm exhausted.
Over the last 3 or 4 days we have been shooting.
This car has beat me up.
And we got a lot of good footage we showed you already.
So I think what we are going to do.
Is we're going to stop this episode right here.

The best part of my work is actually my colleagues.
They are all very experienced, including my manager.
I can learn a lot.
The others, Anton, Mark and Nana, wait for Cherie in downtown Shanghai.
I'm very happy to show them the city.
There are a lot of exciting things here, actually.
I'm so looking forward to it.
Four new employees of Volvo Cars were given a mission:
Together, they will explore our company from the inside.
Anton, Cherie, Mark and Nana have had a tight schedule exploring China.
First, they visited the plant in Daqing.
Then, the journey continued to the R&D Centre in Shanghai.
In Shanghai, they also got to see a charging station
And talk to Mr. Fang about the electric vehicle market in China.
Number one in the world.
In this episode they learn more about how Volvo Cars meets its customers.
But before they leave China, Mark and Nana get to meet Dorothy,
owner of a V60 Polestar, who explains why she has chosen a Volvo.
-How are you? -I'm fine.
-Overall, are you happy with the car? -Of course I am.
I really enjoy the speeding up.
When I was a child, I loved Formula 1 a lot.
So that's why I chose a performance car.
Do you like any other Volvo models?
-The V90 Cross Country. -Oh?
-Why do you like that car? -Because I love wagons.
-Great answer! -That's why I chose a V60 Polestar.
It's a car that's a wagon and also a sporty car.
She said she bought the Polestar because it was different.
Not many people, especially in the Asia Pacific market, have a car like that.
Volvo's a very unique brand, and the Polestar is an even more unique car.
So, what do you associate the Volvo brand with?
Two key words. The first one is safety, as we all know.
And the second one is innovation.
And the innovation includes design,
and the innovative technologies in all Volvo cars, I think. Yes.
She's fun! She's fond of performance cars.
She wants a car that has the speed and the sound.
I think she also likes that Volvos are very safe.
She said it's a unique brand that cares about its customers in a different way,
compared with many other large companies out here.
That was good to hear.
She can obviously buy a faster and more expensive car.
But it connected with her on a different level,
and that's what was special about us talking about
the reason for buying the car and her being a Volvo customer.
To find out more about how we can make our customers feel special,
the Explorers leave China for the US.
It's good to be back in the US. I'm excited to show them around.
A lot of people, but it also feels quite similar to Shanghai.
But much louder.
Perhaps it's because of the helicopter?

The explorers meet Bob Jacobs.
I know you're going to spend a couple of days learning about
the offline/online digital world
and how we sell cars to our consumers in that space.
People are spending 14 hours researching a car,
and only visit one or two dealers before they buy.
It's very important to present ourselves as a brand in the online space
to these consumers and win their affinity.
To see an example of how we approach our customers online,
Anton and Mark visit the customer care team in Rockleigh.
When you show an interest in a vehicle, one from our team will contact you.
They talk you through and give answers on the car,
and when it comes to the order, I'll be with you until your car is delivered.
We would build it together, work on your price, delivery
and any other questions you might have.
Maureen is calling a customer
who recently bought a car with help from the team.
Anton and Mark are invited to listen in.

We got to listen to a call with a loyal customer.
I think he'd had like 15 Volvo cars in the past.
He was so happy with his new car, and also enjoyed the relationship
and getting a call from Volvo, and that warms my heart.
It was almost like a friendship between Volvo and the customer.

We're going to walk down and you will join a class that's already started.
In the class with you, you'll have sales consultants from the north east.
A mix of sales consultants, general managers, greeters...
Anyone who works at one of our stores dealing with customers on a daily basis.
We just had the training Volvo offers for the dealers.
You identify the different customers based on their personalities.
How they are - are they people who are more family oriented,
or people who just want their product and leave?
The dealer can adapt to how the person is and their personality.
So, if someone's very direct and want their car and go,
you don't chit-chat and delay them.
That way, you can serve them best - and then, we have happy customers.
Happy customers equals more products sold.
It's very helpful to identify different people with different personalities,
and tell them they must treat customers in the way they want to be treated.
The day continues with a class on the delivery of the car to the customer.
Before they leave Connecticut, they summarise the day with Mark Gaynor.
How did you feel about this training?
Cool! It's no longer a lot of paper work with checklists to go through.
Everyone of us got an iPad. It was very cool. I liked it.
The purpose of today was to bridge the online and offline,
bringing in retailers from across the country,
taking the concept of what the consumer experiences online,
and making it just the same in an offline fashion.
So, as the consumers enter our showrooms,
the brand experience is a cohesive, unified manner.
Back in Rockleigh, Anton and Mark get to watch
when Caitlin at the customer care team chats with website visitors.
We just had a customer who's signing off.
He was interested in ordering. Oh, another one!
I'm just going to start some conversation with him first.
We got to see a live chat with a person who had questions about the car.
He was considering an XC90 or a V90.
Oh, they're going to place an order. Looks like Maureen gets an order today.

That's fantastic!
After a busy first day in the US with insights about our new customers,
the explorers gather to share their experiences.
It's very interesting to see both
how we treat customers in China and in the USA.
It's amazing that we have the solution for different kinds of customers
and that we treat people in the way they would like to be treated.
After visiting both China and the US,
it's clear that people don't only visit retailers today to buy cars.
It's also important to have an online presence, an offline presence,
and to take care of a customer after the purchase.
I've seen the hierarchies and levels at which we really serve the customers
and get them the cars they need
in a way that's going to make us a premium luxury brand.
For me, it's really nice to see that from a global perspective.
It's a taste of the little bits and pieces that we all work together to do.
