Used car buying guide: Nissan 300ZX

The 300ZX restored the reputation of Nissan's legendary Z-series sports cars after the woeful 280ZX and 300Z models that immediately preceded it.

A large 2+2, the 300ZX had sleek but muscular styling, four-wheel steering and a 30-litre petrol V6 with variable cam timing fed by a pair of quick-acting Garrett turbochargers with twin intercoolers.

Not only did it draw a line under its predecessors but it also bested those other Japanese super-coupés, the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7 and Toyota Supra. It even gave the likes of the Porsche 944 S2 pause for thought.

Launched in the UK in 1990, the rear-wheel-drive 300ZX conformed to Japan's newly agreed maximum power limit of 280PS (276bhp) – but still enough to launch it from zero to 62mph in a shade over five seconds.

It was offered with a choice of four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearboxes.

The UK got the 2+2 but Japan also had a more focused, two-seat, short-wheelbase version (they're still highly prized grey imports to this day) that paved the way for the Nissan 350Z of 2002.

Air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, cruise control and electric mirrors were standard on UK cars. Leather trim with electric seats was an option. Unfortunately, for all its fine qualities, the 300ZX was stymied from the start by a high asking price of £35,000.

Enough were sold to convince the car maker it could rise above its Micra and Bluebird grassroots market but, after the initial excitement had worn off, sales wilted.

It was pulled just four years later, while in Japan and some other markets it soldiered on, gaining some important updates in 1998, among them HID headlights, before bowing out in 2000.

Today, the mass of 300ZXs on sale look pretty disreputable. If tin worm hasn't got them, the go-faster brigade (400bhp power upgrades are not uncommon) invariably have.

Our 'Buyer beware' covers the main points you should look for.   You may find yourself getting excited about an apparent bargain, only to discover that it's a grey-import non-turbo model.

(It's not always clearly stated.) You'll certainly see lots of autos. Beware of early examples of these because the 'boxes had overheating issues.

Check the quality of the gearbox oil, too. In their favour, they may not have suffered quite such a hard life as the manuals.

On that point, although there are more manuals around, they're not so well represented in the classifieds. Meanwhile, the 300ZX is cursed with not one but two Achilles heels.

The cooling system isn't enough for the high engine temperatures, so check the condition of all hoses and the quality of the coolant. Also, the Targa-style roof can drain into the sills, causing terrible problems.

Hopefully, that hasn't put you off buying a 300ZX, because a tidy one in standard trim is still an impressive and dignified thing. Rare, true, but that makes it more special.

A 60sec ad for the 300ZX Twin Turbo, directed by Sir Ridley Scott, was aired during Super Bowl XXIV in 1990.

However, Nissan executives then agreed to pull the commercial after pressure groups objected to its depiction of speed.     "I bought my ZX, an import, in 2005.

It has now done about 80,000 miles and, because I look after it properly, never put a foot wrong. It does around 22mpg but can do 30mpg on a motorway run. It has no bodykit or add-ons. I hate those things.

The car looks good enough in standard trim. Saying that, a good supplier of top-quality aftermarket bits is Stillen [stillen.com], founded by US racer Steve Millen, who raced the 300ZX in the 1990s.

The attraction of the 300ZX for me is the performance, the roadholding and the styling. Also, the fact that, at the end of a long drive, I get out still feeling fresh.

I have an elderly customer who regularly drives his from Bristol to London on business, and he agrees!"   - Ensure the timing belt, tensioner and water pump were changed at 60,000 miles.

Look for oil leaks from the cam end seals and the crank rear main end seals. On automatic versions, they suffer heat transfer from the torque converter.

Injectors can stick, causing misfires, but coil packs are reliable. Check if the seller allows the engine to idle at the end of the drive to lubricate the turbochargers.

- Contrary to rumours, the alternator is reliable but can suffer fluid contamination from leaky power steering pump seals above it. The wiring loom in the engine bay often suffers heat damage.

Check for damp front footwells where the drain channels from the roof, which run inside the A-post, leak onto the automatic gearbox ECU and fuse box.

  - The engine runs very hot but has a small radiator so regular flushing and fluid changes are important. Check the condition of the cooling hoses to the throttle bodies under the inlet plenum.

- The standard brakes are strong but neglect causes the calipers to seize, especially at the front. Replace them with Nismo rubber bushes.

Front springs sag, causing accelerated tyre wear, and rear shocks leak gas. - Rust is a serious issue on the sills ahead of the rear arches.

It's caused by the Targa-style roof drain channels becoming blocked. The three-layer sills (for strength) rust from within but bodgers just replace the outer sill.

Test a 300ZX from cold. When the engine's idling, the boost gauge needle should be on the far left. In the middle could mean compression problems. Once the engine is warmed, the needle should indicate maximum boost of 9psi.

After driving, idle the engine and check for blue oil smoke.   - It's hard to be precise about prices since condition is everything.

Runners start at £1500-£2000 and there's a bunch for sale around £5000. Prize originality and maintenance over power upgrades and fancy wheels.

Avoid serious sub-£1000 basket cases. Most ads are for autos but there are many more manuals about so keep your eyes open or check the club classifieds.

The rare SWB is rated for its more sure-footed handling and good ones command a premium. - NISSAN 300ZX AUTO, 2000- REG, 51K MILES, £7995   This Japanese import is one of the last ZXs so is a facelifted car.

It's a shame that it has an automatic gearbox but it has rarity and condition on its side. It has stacks of service history, too, plus all of its old MOT test certificates to help corroborate the mileage.

Top 10 Craziest Car Chase Scenes from the 60's | Donut Media - Duration: 7:06.

People were doing a lot of weird sh*t back in the 1960s.

And not a lot of it made much sense.

But this strange behavior led to a lot of amazing films with unexpected plot twists,

and seriously dangerous stunts.

Here are the 10 best movie car chases from the 1960s.

Starting off at number 10 is "Monte Carlo or Bust" from 1969.

Aka "Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies"

is about an international rally across Europe which is complicated by smuggling, cheating,

and a bunch of hilarious one-liners that were completely normal at the time.

("Kick you in the struddlepuss!")

("What is a struddlepuss, Barington?")

It's the 60's and nothing makes sense.

Like driving a car down a bobsled track.

Makes no sense, yet seems perfectly normal...

Why are you smashing into jolly old chaps playing ice hockey?

("They should be playing something decent, like Cricket.")

all the non-stop hobnobbing throughout this film make a perfect introduction into car chases from this era.

Carrying on at number-nine is another clinically insane chase from

"It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World" in 1963.

Check out this batshit crazy dude.

("I'm getting bugged now, whoa, man!")

I mean, manic depression never looked like so much fun.

Am I right?

He can barely contain himself while trying to run his brother-in-law off the road.

And that's exactly what ends up happening.

You better believe someone got injured in the making of this film.

Later in the film we get to see a beautifully shot car chase that doesn't fall short of

exploding fire hydrants, airborne jalopies, and corner-cutting.

This combination of great stunt driving, beautiful classic cars, and people who

are completely out of their mind, make this movie a solid example of what

a good car chase from the 1960s looks like.

We're crossing insanity and moving into full-blown lunacy

with this car chase scene from "Hot Rods to Hell" In 1967 landing at number-eight.

("Speed up dad, maybe you can loose 'em!")

("I'm not going to do what they want me to, Timmy.")

Poor little Timmy and his basic family get forced into a road rage

by some punks and their fancy hot rods.

Forget about picking on someone your own size

let's make sure this entire family is scarred for life from ever taking another road trip.

It makes absolutely no sense.

but does it?

I actually can't imagine there being much else to do in a California desert back in the 60's.

Non the less, this confusingly entertaining car chase

is definitely one of our favorites from the era.

Our number-seven best car chase from the 1960s is this legendary motorcycle chase

from "The Great Escape" in 1963.

Steve McQueen is the man.

Check out the way he's pumping through those whoops.

Talk about making chicks scream in the movie theater.

In fact, Steve only agreed to the movie if he could show off his motorcycle skills.

And with two skinny tires that barely work on the street, let alone driving along a mountainside.

Those are some skills indeed.

He ends up jumping some barbed wire,

everyone in the theater loses their sh*t,

and he gets caught by some Germans.

coming in at number 6 is this chase from "The Wrecking Crew" in 1968.

I loved the two cars in this chase.

Check out that gold paint job on the 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III.

And don't forget that Hitchcock-esque Black 1955 mercedes-benz 300.

I would drive that car all day.

Shit gets weird right off the bat here

when the driver of the Lincoln tries to get some road dome during the chase.

("Don't push me down, I can't see.")

He ends up ditching the Mercedes,

only to have his girlfriend accidentally explode his car with a handkerchief.

They immediately hook up behind a log and then fly away in a helicopter that he pulls out of his trunk.

Seriously, I have no words.

Going from nonsense to straight-up psychedelic anthropomorphic fantasyland

is this car-chase scene from The Lovebug" in 1969 landing at number-five.

This chase completely blows my mind for better and for worse.

Nothing causes me more excitement and confusion than watching a sleeper

speeding past a car that costs 10 times more money.

Generally, the higher level of confusion, the more excited I get.

And this sh*t leaves me dumbfounded.

The car has a mind of its own, and for some reason runs on Irish cream.

("Irish Coffee.")

and check this, separates itself to gain an advantage during the race.

Car chase scenes might become a little predictable.

But this Chase has plot twist after plot twist.

leaving you wondering what kind of drugs the guys were on who created it.

Or maybe, no drugs at all.

Who knows it's the 60s.

Number-four is the classic chase from "The Goldfinger" in 1964.

The main car alone puts this chase high on our list because of its outright fame and recognition

as one of the most legendary Bond cars ever.

I mean, it's got machine guns hiding behind the headlights.

And this chase is pretty awesome too.

While bond is pillaging that silver Aston Martin DB5 through crowds of armed men at night,

we get some more insanely weird moments from a grandma wielding a Tommy Gun.

and Bond peculiarly rubbing his shift nob.

Which turns into a seat ejection switch. Obviously.

We've made it to our top three,

and starting off is the Mini Cooper chase scene from the Italian Job in 1969.

This scene put Mini Coopers on the map, making them the best-selling car from the UK at the time.

And it makes sense. Look at how versatile those things are for city driving.

Not only can they jump over buildings, they can drive on top of them,

Down flights of stairs, and anywhere else your imagination can take you.

Why not load them up into a bus and gently toss them off a cliff.

Sounds like a party to me.

Anyway, interestingly enough, Italian authorities did not let these guys close down any roads from filming.

So the film crew blocked off the roads on their own.

This pissed off the Italian drivers that were driving around the movie at the time.

so the traffic jams in the movie are totally real.

Which gives you a little sense of reality in a world so cold.

Put on your winter coats for this chase scene from

"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in 1969, racing into our number-two spot.

If you love car chases, it's off obvious you're a James Bond fan.

Because not only has he made it on our list from every other decade,

he's on this one twice.

If there is one movie which screams 1960s car chase louder than any others, it's this one.

It's got ice, which means drifting jalopies.

It's got classic whips.

It's got James Bond.

And it has some incredible car chase shots that without a doubt inspired many filmmakers for years to come.

the dueling few hit a stock car race which is in the snow...

This sh*t is nuts.

Cars are constantly slamming into each other, flying into crowds, and somehow exploding out of nowhere.

I get that this form of racing is dangerous,

but it wouldn't be as dangerous today as it was back in the 60s.

And that's exactly why this chase lands high on the list.

That brings us to our number one most iconic and ironic car chase scene from the 1960's,

with "Bullit" from 1968.

Iconic, because of the epic battle between a Mustang and Charger. Plus Steven McQueen.

Ironic because this chase makes complete sense.

It's relatable.

It's pure.

It's a pedal-to-the-metal fire-breathing V8 screaming

chase that made San Francisco famous for hilly and busy streets.

The sense of speed and danger was knocked so far out of the park by this scene

that it forever became the standard for what car chases could be, and should be.

This chase separated itself from all other movies before it

by giving the audience and authentic street racing experience that doesn't

need any over embellishment to keep you pinned to your seat in suspense.

The solid camerawork, engine noises and stunt driving that made me realize I could make a career doing this.

As long as I keep reminding people I'm available for hire.

Maybe, just maybe, one day I can land that job and be as cool as these guys who helped make this film.

Steve McQueen and Bud Edkins were drivers and we're killing it on set.

Reaching speeds no one even asked for.

Over 110 miles per hour at times.

In San Fransisco.

You can drive across the entire city in less than four minutes at that speed.

And you really get that feeling while watching this race.

For that mighty reason, it's the number one best car chase scene from the 1960s.

As always we'd love to hear what movies from the 60's you love and think should have been on our list.

And don't forget to like and subscribe for more.

CARDI B - The RICH LIFE - Net Worth 2017 - FORBES ( Car, Hotels, Bling ) - Duration: 10:10.

Cardi B is the First Female Rapper in 19 Years to Top the Charts, she's signed a multi million

dollar deal with Atlantic records and celebrated by buying herself a bright orange Bentley

worth a whopping $240,000.

But Cardi B doesn't really need the new whip with her being chauffeured all over the world

in Cadillacs while staying at the worlds most luxurious of hotels.

She's splurged on some other ridiculous purchases including a $100,000 time piece, she buys

a new pair of red bottom Louboutins every couple of weeks ($2000 - $5000) and has also

spent some serious cash on a few other things...

At the time of this recording Cardi B's net worth is an estimated $5 Million dollars which

is astonishing because just a few months ago her net worth was pegged at $600K.

Which wasn't even that far off what the internet assumes my net worth is – so now ya know.

I'll still make my own The Rich Life video when this channel hit's 2 Million subscribers.

So the question with Cardi B still remains, how did he do it & where is all this money

coming from?

Well it didn't happen overnight with Cardi B growing up extremely poor in the Bronx.

I'm gonna walk you through her financial come up, where the money is coming from and what

she spends it on, here for you on The RICH Life, my name is Michael McCrudden & I got

a questions for you guys?

What was Cardi B's mom's reaction when she found out her daughter was stripping?

What did she do to Cardi?

The answer will be at the end of this video, now let's roll that intro.

Cardi B was born Belcalis Almanzar, on October 11, 1992, to a Trinidadian mother and Dominican

father.

The eldest of two daughters born to immigrant parents she had little money growing up.

Her dad worked as a taxi driver and her mother a cashier.

She was raised in the Highbridge neighborhood located in the South Bronx section of New

York City.

Cardi B was a bloods gang banger at 16.

She graduated high school and enrolled in college while working at a grocery store known

as Amish Market where she was making around $300 a week.

When she got fired, her boss told her that she was a good looking girl with a good bod

and told her to get a job as a stripper.

She was 19 years old with no money and in an abusive relationship.

She stated in an interview "I was practically homeless.

A lot of people think dancers don't struggle.

We struggle a lot,"

This is the part of the story that leads us to Cardi B's first major investment in herself,

her boobs and her butt.

She started out at a club known as New York Doll's and she quickly realized that if she

enhanced her image she could make more profit.

I googled her bra size which first off, made me feel ridiculous and make me ask what I

am doing with my life.

Then I was shocked with the most popular result – 34F.

She didn't hold back.

The average cost of Breast Augmentation surgery in New York is $8000, I have no idea if you

pay more if they are bigger – let's just move on.

& now this video is totally gonna get demonitized.

Eventually Cardi B found out that there was more money to be made in the Hood Clubs but

when she showed up there she felt that she didn't have a big enough booty.

When asked by Charlamagne if her ass was real she said this:

"Na, you know I got me a couple shots, a couple basements, you know what I'm SHAYING?

Na, I got some shots out here.

In basements."

I got no idea what basment butt shots would of set her back but she did later state that

she nearly died from the procedure and that the Jamaican woman who injected her with silicone

is now in prison.

Let's move on – cause at this point Cardi B was making money.

She was getting gifts from admirers including her first pair of Louboutins worth $800.

Prior to that he most expensive pair of shoes were $300 pair of Jeffrey Campbells.

If you follow Cardi on Instagram then you know another big expense of her is her nails.

She get's this work done at Nails on 7th Which must cost something feirce.

With Cardi having completed her full Glo Out transformation she had also started posting

to social media.

Let's take a look at some of her earlier videos.

She started off 2015 with 1/2 a Million Followers on Instagram and went from traveling as a

stripper to traveling as a social media star hustling to promote club appearances in cities

like Houston and Kansas City.

Television was quick to take notice and cast Cardi B as a supporting member of season 6.

She quickly won both the producers and the audience over and by season 7 was the breakthrough

star.

While on the show Cardi B invested in some dental surgery.

Cardi flipped the bill getting the best of the best work done with Dr. Catrise Austin

the New York City Smile Makeover Expert.

I have no idea what kind of earnings Cardi B took home for her work on Love & Hip Hop

but it appears it wasn't enough cause she walked away from the show after season 7.

She decided to set her sights on music in 2016 plus she was clocking in more views off

her instagram than she was off television.

She dropped her first mixtape in 2016 and worked

alongside Shaggy & Popcaan while touring.

She came out with her second mixtape in January of 2017 and signed her first recording contract

with Atlantic records.

On June 16, 2017, Atlantic Records released Cardi B's commercial debut single, titled

"Bodak Yellow".

On September 25, 2017, "Bodak Yellow" reached #1 on the Billboard charts and following

this they dropped on her contract estimated to be worth $5 Million dollars.

Okay, we have finally gotten to the part of what's she's spent her fortune on.

Her biggest purchase thus far has been her orange Bentley Bentayga S.U.V.

With what she calls Peanut Butter Interior.

The car is worth a quarter million dollars easily although Cardi bought it before she

actually learned to drive or got her licence.

She's picked up some custom Chains including this Power Puff Girl piece But there's more.

She's even dropped a 100K on a watch.

Now let's take a look at her watch collection.

Now some people might be speculating that a lot of Cardi B's clothing and jewels come

from her boyfriend Offset, when asked he had this to say.

That's right, you heard it from him - Cardi can afford to buy her own.

That doesn't mean the couple doesn't like to celebrate together.

The two have been spotted together partying at Strip Clubs throwing around stacks of cash

making it rain.

Cardi B wants Bodak Yellow to become a strip club anthem and to do so, I suppose it makes

sense that she's showing face at her old stomping grounds.

Cardi B is always on the move, but when she touches down in New York city these days she

can afford to stay at the exlusive Four Seasons New York or the Soho House which costs over

$1000 per night.

Don't ask her to stay at the Hilton though, she's boycotting them after she got kicked

out over allegations that she was smoking weed.

Also feel free to go through her Instagram to check out all her designer threads.

Cardi B has officially become America's Sweetheart.

She's sexy, she's funny, she's talented and she did it all on her own.

I gotta imagine her mom feels a little bad having pushed her down the stair when Cardi

first told her she was a stripper.

In the end it seems it all worked out.

Let me know who is next on The RICH LIFE, this was Episode 1, Season 1.

We are gonna pump out 10 or 15 of these videos and then take a break.

So you better get your requests in ASAP.

You can find me on Instagram and Twitter, my name is Michael McCrudden.

See you in the next video.

This Race Car Driver Is Defying Stereotypes at 200 Miles Per Hour - Duration: 3:08.

I am truly an activist first and a race car driver second.

When I get into the race car and I pull the helmet on my head,

It all just disappears.

It's a sport where the intense mental focus

is what I love and just the insane adrenaline

that you have going into a corner at 200 miles an hour

with cars inches from you.

My motto is: Never underestimate

a vegan hippie chick with a race car.

So you've probably seen NASCAR

when you're flipping through the channels

and all of our cars are covered in logos.

There's a bacon car, there's oil companies,

there's candy bars, there's fast food companies.

When you see me on the track I'm oftentimes

carrying a message about clean energy, solar power,

wind power, a future with 100 percent renewable energy,

which is absolutely possible.

I drove the first ever vegan-themed race car.

My cars are unique.

The messages that I carry on them are asking people

to do something good for our planet

and for the animals that we share it with.

I get to see both sides.

I live in the world of environmentalists

and then I also live in the world of racing.

I know people have this stereotype of a NASCAR fan

with the beer belly and the NASCAR shirt,

but I find that race fans are far more open

to these messages than people would think.

I was at Daytona and I was giving away vegan food

and this guy came up with his son.

They were both dressed in camouflage from head to toe.

They had clearly taken a break from their hunting trip

to swing down to Daytona.

He tried my vegan chicken wings

and he just looked at me and he was like,

"That is not meat?"

"That is amazing!"

And he actually came back to the tent for more.

It was just so funny for me to see this man

from his hunting trip eating my vegan food

and loving it.

That is truly something I never could have made happen

if I didn't have the race car.

I want to see every race car running on either

electricity or renewable biofuels.

Every racetrack powered with 100 percent solar or wind.

Every race track concession stand offering

vegan food to the race fans.

I want to see every racing tire recycled.

I would love to see every kind of sport have somebody who is speaking up

and rocking the boat.

We need activists to be basketball players

and football players.

I do think sports figures have a responsibility

to try and make the world a better place.
