>> Nice to see you.
>> DREW: You didn't waste any
time at all.
>> Heck no.
>> DREW: Peggy got right up on
stage, George.
George, what does the early bird
get?
>> GEORGE: Well, sometimes it's
the worm, but occasionally it's
a brand-new car!
( cheers and applause )
It's the Hyundai Veloster.
Comes equipped with a 1.6 liter
engine, ecoshift dual clutch
transmission, front wheel
drive, plus cargo net and auto
armor.
It's the Hyundai Veloster.
>> DREW: Thank you, Rachel.
we're playing a game called
Pocket Change.
See all those numbers up there?
Let's pick the number that's
first number in the price of the
Hyundai.
Take it off there.
It's a two.
the number is gone.
Now you have five numbers left,
four give me.
One by one you'll give me those
numbers.
If you're right, you get to go
up there and grab an envelope.
Each envelope has a card with
change in it.
I'm going the start you out with
25 cents.
and you're going to need that
change, because every time
you're wrong, Rachel over there
over at crazy Rachel's car lot
will raise the price 25 cents
every time.
If you don't make any mistakes,
you buy it right now.
All you have to be is
mistake-free.
I'm just saying, if you make a
mistake, which I hope you don't.
Give me the next number in the
price of the car.
>> Three.
>> DREW: Let's see a three.
[Buzzer Sounds]
Oh, no, Rachel raises the price
50 cents.
Next one.
>> One.
[Buzzer Sounds]
No.
Now it's a 75-cent car.
>> I got to do it.
>> DREW: Rachel keeps raising
the price over and over again.
>> I got to do it.
>> DREW: Six, eight, or zero?
>> Zero.
>> DREW: Zero.
Yes!
Go get an envelope.
Hopefully it will be full of
money.
Just bring the whole envelope
over here.
We have the break down at the
bottom, nickels, dimes, quarter,
50 cents.
All kinds of things in.
There one, six, three, or eight?
>> Three.
>> DREW: Three.
[Buzzer Sounds]
Nope.
$1 car now.
Six, one, or eight?
>> Eight.
>> DREW:
[Buzzer Sounds]
No.
$1.25.
Six or one?
>> Six.
>> DREW: Six.
Yes!
Go get an envelope.
I'll take it.
Thank you very much.
One, eight, or three?
>> One.
>> DREW: One.
You got it.
Go grab an envelope off the
wall.
Bring it over the me.
All righty.
Three or eight?
>> Three.
>> DREW: Let's see a plea,
please.
[Buzzer Sounds]
No.
$1.50.
Oh, my goodness.
Say eight.
>> Eight.
>> DREW: Eight.
Good, go grab an envelope off
the wall.
I'll take that.
thank you very much.
$1.50, Peggy.
Now, you have 25 cents.
Let's put 25 cents up there.
You need $1.25.
We have zeros, nickels, ten, 25,
50, 75, $2.
Maybe.
Let's see what you have in this
first envelope here.
You have a nickel.
There's only four of those.
That's pretty rare.
Ten cents.
40 cents.
$1.10 to go.
You can get a 75 and a 50, that
would do it.
Peggy, I'm sorry, you got
another 10.
Well, the only thing you can
hope for now... the only thing
that can help her now is the $2.
Peggy, $2.
Unbelievable.
Go get that car.
Unbelievable, folks.
Look at that.
the only one on the board, the
only thing that could have saved
her, and she got it.

Car Rental Insurance | How to Determine Whether You Need the Extra Insurance - Duration: 6:23.
Hi there, it's Ernest from Trip Astute. In this video, we're discussing the car
insurance dilemma, and whether you should opt for extra insurance the next time
you rent a car.
(light chiming music)
Renting a car can be a frustrating process. When you search for
prices, they seem very reasonable. But then you add in all the extras, and
you've often doubled the price of the rental. One of the biggest options that
you're presented with is rental insurance. It's hard understanding
whether you need it or not, and the rental car companies will often try to
convince you that it's critical to have. Also, many of you have travel credit
cards which often offer a rental car insurance benefit. So today, we're going
to explore the topic and hopefully give you some things to consider when making
a decision on insurance. First off, we need to clarify that not all credit card
auto insurance benefits are the same. In order to understand the nuances, we need
to discuss the difference between primary and secondary auto insurance.
Primary means that it's the first line of defense when your coverage kicks in.
Secondary is to cover anything beyond the primary insurance, which would
normally be your normal or regular auto insurance policy. Keep in mind that this
only covers the damages to your rental car, so if you were to cause an accident
and damage another vehicle, then the credit card company would only cover the
damage to the rental car and not to the other vehicle. You would have to pay for
the other damage using your personal auto insurance or out of pocket. Since
there are so many variations of this scenario, I thought I'd run through a
couple just to help illustrate the benefits and risks. In scenario one, you
have personal auto insurance and you have a credit card with primary coverage.
If you were to hit another vehicle while driving your rental car, then your credit
card would cover the damage on the rental car, and your personal auto
insurance would cover the damage to the other vehicle, as well as any damage on
the rental car that is in excess of the coverage provided by the credit card. In
this situation, you probably don't need any additional insurance coverage and
can decline the coverage being sold through the rental car company. In
scenario two, you have personal auto insurance
and you also have a credit card with secondary coverage. In this situation
your personal auto insurance would pay for the damage on your rental car and the
vehicle you hit. And anything in excess on the rental car would be paid by your credit
card's coverage. In this scenario, I probably wouldn't buy the extra coverage,
but it might be worth it if you're worried about your insurance premiums
going up due to an accident, or if you feel like your personal auto insurance
is insufficient. In scenario three, you don't have personal auto insurance, but you do
have a credit card with primary coverage. If you were to cause an accident, then
the damage to your rental car would be covered by your credit card, but you
would still be liable for the damage to the other car. In this scenario, I would
opt for some kind of additional coverage. In scenario four, you don't have personal
auto insurance, but you have a credit card with secondary coverage. In this
situation, your secondary becomes primary since there isn't another source of
coverage. Unlike the previous scenario, the damage
to your rental car would be covered, but you would still be liable for the damage
to the other vehicle, so I personally would opt for rental insurance coverage.
In addition to these scenarios, here are some extra tips to consider. Number one:
Consider third-party liability insurance. Rather than buying insurance from the
rental car company, you can now purchase liability-only insurance for often
cheaper, especially if renting for a longer period of time. This works great
for folks that have rental car insurance benefits on their credit card, but want
to add the liability insurance just to be safe. Since a lot of people now rely
on ride-sharing and public transport, or choose not to own a car, this could be a
great option to protect yourself when renting a car. Number two: Use your credit
card to book the reservation. If you want to take advantage of your card's
insurance coverage, make sure you book the reservation with that card. Otherwise,
the credit card company will likely decline your claim. Number three: Call
your credit card company if you're unsure of your coverage. There are so
many nuances and scenarios, so make sure you get all your answers before your
trip. If you're unsure of your coverage or benefits,
I suggest calling your credit card company. Also, if you're not sure whether
you have primary or secondary insurance, I'll include a
link below that shows which cards have primary auto insurance coverage.
Number four: Consider that your coverage may be different when traveling
internationally. If you have personal auto insurance, you may want to double-
check whether your insurance has limits or conditions when renting a car abroad.
If so, you may want to get temporary third-party auto insurance that
guarantees international coverage. Number five: Insure that your personal auto
insurance covers rental cars. Most policies cover whatever car you're
driving, including rental cars. But if you're unsure, contact your insurance
company to verify the coverage. Number six: Bring a copy of your insurance card
or documentation when traveling. In the event that you do get into an accident,
you'll be glad that you have your documents with you. Also, I've had some
experiences where the rental car rep wanted to see the details of my coverage
or policy, so it's helpful to have it with you when picking up your rental car.
Again, I just want to emphasize that everyone's situation is different and
your appetite for risk may be different than mine. When traveling, I tend to be a
bit more conservative, as I prefer to have peace of mind, but your situation
might be completely different. Lastly, if you happen to have an ultra premium
credit card like the American Express Centurion, then you likely have liability
coverage as well. I definitely don't have one and I probably would never qualify
for one either, but I thought I'd let you know in case you happen to have one of
these exclusive cards. And that's our travel tip on rental car insurance. Do
you have any experience with rental cars or the coverage provided by credit cards?

How new solar technology is fueling China's electric car industry - Duration: 2:33.
In September, China announced that it will soon set deadlines to stop selling vehicles
that run solely on fossil fuels.
In making this commitment, China joins Britain, France, and other signatories to
the Paris Climate Agreement who have made similar pledges.
China is a world leader in producing electric vehicles.
Private Chinese carmakers - and their foreign partners – are already showcasing
the next generation of green cars.
Still, by some estimates, China will also need hundreds of thousands of new charging
stations to support them.
The country's booming solar industry may be a part of the answer.
Shanghai's first "light-storage" charging station for electric cars entered service
in October - just before the national holiday.
This station, powered by solar photovoltaic cells is not only new, it's fast.
Using li-ion batteries for long-term storage, this station can even charge vehicles at night.
In addition to powering cars, any surplus electricity will go to the grid to help power
neighboring communities.
This system could help those communities reduce dependence on coal burning power plants as
a source of electricity.
In the mid-1990s, China deepened its engagement with the global economy.
It became the factory floor for the world.
With its dramatic economic growth over the past 20 years, also came overwhelming pollution
around urban and industrial centers.
China surpassed the U.S. in 2005 as the world's leading emitter of greenhouse gas (GHG).
In recent years, China has made it a national priority to develop a greener economy that
reduces pollution and carbon emissions.
With its growing fleet of electric vehicles, and advances in solar technology, China is
showing its determination to grow its green economy.

Make a Glove Box Emergency Kit for Your Car - Duration: 4:50.
essentials tools for your glove box car vehicle survival emergency kit DIY car emergency kit mini car glove box emergency survival kit
hi it's AlaskaGranny we spend a lot of time in our vehicles cars trucks traveling to and
from work going to and from the store even traveling on adventures in the out
of doors in all times of year all kinds of weather we go camping skiing snowmobiling all kinds of
things hiking fishing you just never know where your vehicle will end up
taking you so the chances of you being stranded at some time in your car are
pretty great you may have a breakdown you may be involved in an accident you
may get caught in a winter storm you may have a traffic jam where someone else
has had an accident even a flat tire can leave you stranded for a little while
one of the things I decided to do was make a small emergency kit that can fit
right in the glove box of my car I started with the Life Bivy from Go Time Gear
gotimegear.com which is a very large survival type bivvy shelter sleeping bag for an emergency situation
Life Bivy emergency sleeping bag is over 7 feet tall it's 6 feet around it can shield you from all kinds of wet
windy weather and also you can climb inside and the reflective side of the Life Bivy reflects back 90 percent of your body
heat and helps keep you warm in an emergency situation this doesn't have to
be a shelter you just use outside if you were stranded in your car you could
crawl inside the Life Bivy bivvy bag it'll reflect 90 percent of your body
heat and help keep you warm and in an emergency situation then because the
Life Bivy comes in a nice little drawstring pouch there's actually room
in here to include more emergency survival items it has some paracord with a barrel clasp
attached to the Life Bivy drawstring sack is an emergency whistle of 120
decibel 100 decibels can be heard nearly a mile and a half so if you needed to
call for help you could certainly blow your whistle so you could be heard
there's actually room in here to include more items I was able to add several
other tools items that I would want in an emergency situation the first item I
included is a multi-tool a multi-tool is better than a knife because it has all
kinds of little gadgets on it that can help you perform all kinds of tasks it
may not even be larger than a knife but it's certainly more versatile the next
item I included was a flashlight my new favorite flashlight is USB rechargeable
it has a little gadget on the end you can plug it into a USB outlet including
one that might come built in your car or you can use a car charger it has a
bright a low light and a flasher that if you needed to signal for help the
flasher could help you do that you may want to start a fire so I put in a
cotton ball doused with Vaseline and a lighter I also included a votive candle
that I could light and set on the dashboard which would give me a little
bit of light and a tiny bit of warmth in a cold enclosed vehicle make sure you
carry a written list of your emergency contacts lots of places we travel cell
phone service is not available and having a paper copy of your emergency
contacts and your most important information can be vital all of these
items fit right inside the little pouch that comes with the Life Bivy you can
see you can load the emergency tools supplies right in the Life Bivy pouch and there's even still room if you
wanted to add a few other little things maybe a granola bar maybe a hand warmer
there are lots of things you could still decide would be most important to you
your little car glove box emergency survival kit don't take chances with your safety make
an emergency kit for your car that's small enough to fit in your glove box
it's a good idea to have a Life Bivy for everyone in your family so that each of
you can shelter in your car in an emergency situation
you can read more about making a emergency kit for your car on the blog
at gotimegear.com in the meantime stock up on supplies so that you'll have
what you need no matter what comes along

Car News In the Rearview: Szechuan Sauce Volkswagens and Other Ominous Things - Duration: 2:33.
Hello, my name is Daniel Susco, and this is In the Rearview, where we bring you the week's
car news in tasty, bite-sized form.
First up this week, General Motors can heave a sigh of relief, because the strike at the
CAMI Assembly Plant, which produces the high-selling Equinox, is finally over.
GM gave up a four-year contract, a raise, and some multi-thousand-dollar bonuses, but
ominously for the workers still wouldn't officially make the plant the official Equinox
producer.
More details are available on our write-up.
Speaking of GM, the company has held a super-secret meeting of dealership representatives and
unveiled its newest top-secret prototype, a next-generation GMC Sierra 1500 Denali.
However, even these reps weren't able to see the biggest new feature—the bed, which
GM assured them would have "revolutionary" new features.
We're going to pretend that isn't ominous.
Next, sometimes I think it's our job to put the brakes on the hype train, because
this week it was chugging along on stories claiming that Mazda is bringing a rotary-engine
plug-in hybrid to market next year.
While the brand might do that, it absolutely didn't say that.
It really just said the same thing it has for a long time: "yes, we're working on
rotary engines, and yes, we're bringing out a hybrid."
Speaking of hype, though, sometimes you have to worry about how much hype affects people,
this week because of McDonald's Szechuan Sauce.
After a limited supply was rereleased this week for Rick and Morty fans, the packets
are going for a hundred bucks on EBay, and some guy actually traded his Volkswagen GTI
for one of them.
Shifting gears now, Paris is jumping forward another step ahead of the rest of France in
banning combustion engines, as the City of Lights is setting the date for 2030, a decade
ahead of the rest of the country, leaving mostly or entirely electric vehicles only
on the road.
On that note, Shell is getting in on the electric car charging game in Europe—the same Shell
that makes its money targeting customers that are just about the opposite of the electric
vehicle driver.
Really, since it can take a half-hour for electrics to recharge even on fast chargers,
you would think that gas stations would like to have those people hanging out inside, spending
their money not used for gas on snacks.
And speaking of electric vehicles, Ford is also turning into the mainstream on electric
vehicles, promising to triple the electric chargers for its employees by 2020, while
forming an electric-vehicle team called "Team Edison," which of course isn't taking
potshots at anyone in the industry, or anything.
Finally, we have another major corporate scandal on our hands here in the grips of the Age
of the Lying Company, as Kobe Steel, the world's third-biggest steel producer, has admitted
that on and off for the last decade, it has been lying about the quality of its metals
when sending them out.
Of course, these metals were going to nice, low-impact industries, like people who make
airplanes, space shuttles, bullet trains, and of course, carmakers.
Thank you for watching!

"Detail Proof" Challenger Movie Car - Director's Cut Detail - Duration: 4:59.
Can you believe that?
It was sitting for a month and the first time we start it, it won't start.
Once we get it running and driving around for two minutes it breaks down.
So far every MOPAR we've had in here has given us trouble.
1971 Dodge Challenger, disguised as a 1970 Dodge Challenger from the movie "Deathproof".
GET AWAY FROM ME!!!
ZOEY, HOLD ON!
One of the best things about working here is that we get to work on awesome cars like
this movie car.
As you saw this car isn't super reliable a lot of the problems with movie cars is they
are built to look good but they don't run very well, such is the case with this Challenger.
It was in Australia for the filming on the movie, then it sat in storage and then brought
here to California a couple months ago and it hasn't been treated very well.
So, we're going to show you how to safely remove the dirt and debris because we definitely
don't want to scratch this finish...yeah right you can tell this car has a lot of character
and scratches because this was a stunt car.
If you've seen the movie then you know the scene where it was basically destroyed but
we don't want to take away any of the actually movie aspects of the vehicle but we still
need to get rid of this dirt, debris and bird droppings to restore the shine.
We're going to use Speed Wipe which is one of my favorite quick detail sprays and it
will easily remove anything on the surface and bring back that shine but it is also adding
an anti-static barrier which will keep this car looking cleaner for longer.
So lets get started!
Now, we're giving this a chance to emulsify any of that grime.
Man, you smell that; smells delicious!
Smells like someone stuck a sleeve of Starbursts in the microwave.
Now we're wiping in straight lines while rolling the towel.
As you guys can see this is actual paint that was removed and it also has some movie magic
here to make it look more abused.
It goes all the way down to bare metal and there is a little bit of rust starting here
which is one reason why we are not foaming it because we don't want to speed up the oxidation
process on this vehicle.
By using a quick detail spray we can pick up the surface debris without harming the finish.
We'll finish this off, there really isn't a whole lot we can do to this vehicle.
As I mentioned before it is a screen used movie that was damaged in the film so we aren't
going to polish this or get in depth with the detail but it is really cool to have something
that was screen used and it was fun to work with.
Even though it's a MOPAR that barely runs...
There is a small family inside of my transmission.
When you get a six speed that means that there is six kids in there and they all have little
hammers so when you from first gear, the second kid hits it into the next gear.
Actually, the way an automatic transmission works is through a bunch of housings, belts,
clutch packs and other good stuff; as fluid and vacuum changes occur it grabs one and
opens another...it's too complicated for your little brain to understand Phil.
