English Tutor Nick P Noun Phrase (40) Pin-Up Model or Pin-Up Girl - Duration: 2:08.
Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 40. The noun phrase today
it's pinup model or pinup girl. Okay. Let's take a look the note here. A pinup
model or pinup girl is a photo of a model, especially a beautiful sexy girl
that is typically made into a poster to hang up on walls. Okay. Let's continue.
During World War two, many soldiers had posters of pinup girls. I think this is
when pinup girls really started to become popular. It was during the war,
probably to help give the soldiers you know, some comfort or something. So that's
when it really became you know, what it would it ended up turning into later.
A really popular one. So anyway, in some service stations mechanics may hang up
posters of pinup girls. Yeah if you've ever gone in to get your car fixed and
there's mechanics there. It's very common that they may have pinup girls
hanging up on the wall. mm-hmm. All right. Let's continue. Some famous pinup models
in the past include Betty Grable, Rita Hayworth, Raquel Welch , Marilyn Monroe and
years later there were other ones Farrah Fawcett and then it went on and on. Okay.
Let's continue. In the movie ' Shawshank Redemption ' remember that was a story
that was originally written by Stephen King. A short story they made into a movie.
It was a very good movie. The main character, Andy Dufrese used the pin-
up girl poster of Rita Hayworth and I think he he changed it a few times as
the years went by to cover the hole in the wall
he used to escape the prison. So that's what he did. He actually made the hole in
the wall by putting up the pin-up girl there. So they wouldn't detect or notice
that he actually made a hole in his wall. As a way to escape and the way he
eventually escaped from the prison. Okay. Anyway, I hope it's clear. I hope you got it.
Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.

Twitter Stock: MAUs are Down, But Profits are Up - Duration: 3:04.
Mac Greer: Last Thursday, Twitter reported better than expected earnings.
Shares up around 20% since they reported earnings. I use Twitter.
I like the service, but I had kind of written off the business.
Should I give it a second look? Jason Moser: A second look...
I'm going to get back to that. I'm not terribly convicted one way or the other there.
It's funny to see that what has been held against the business for so long has now become
more or less a passing concern. What I mean by that is the monthly user growth.
For the longest time, the question was, how big can they grow that user base, they need
to grow that user base as big as you can so you can monetize it.
I think we've hit the point, as investors, you need to look at this and say,
"Twitter's basically maxed out its user base." It's not going to get much bigger than it already is.
It's somewhere around 326 million monthly active users.
That was 335 million a year ago.
From 335 to 326, and that's going to go lower this coming quarter, as well, they've already guided.
The market buying the stock was a little bit odd, but I think it makes some sense.
What we're seeing now is, at least they've proven there is a business there.
To put some numbers around that, if you look at the trailing 12 months, Twitter actually
has an E to go in the price to earnings ratio. The P/E ratio is not very helpful if there's no E.
Greer: The E has arrived! Moser: For the longest time, there was no E!
But over the trailing 12 months, they've recorded $0.47 in earnings per share.
Real GAAP profitability there. That makes a difference.
I'm not sitting here telling you the stock is dirt cheap, but at least we know there's a business there.
I think that's where investors can start to say, "Maybe there's a way to leverage this platform."
They're doing some good things on the video side. Advertisers are saying good things.
They're realizing some return there.
It's proven itself to be pretty resilient as a platform for the purpose that it serves.
I think there's a lot of trouble that still comes with a lot of these social networks,
and we're seeing a lot of the downside of this so-called connected world.
But it's good to see them changing the discussion a little bit, for sure.
Greer: Emily, what do you think of Twitter?
Emily Flippen: Since I'm not a Twitter shareholder and I'm not a Twitter user, I would just say
to the extent that it plays into my life, Twitter could have posted earnings of $100
per share and it probably wouldn't have changed the needle for me at all.
Social networking sites are, in my opinion, very faddy.
To me, it's hard to predict where a market goes in that direction, monetizing what I
consider to be a relative fad.

Packing It Up: Inner Architecture Mini - Duration: 3:45.
By nature I love harmony. So many of us love it when everyone's getting along
and when things are running smoothly. I want to bring some awareness today to
something that often, for those peacemakers out there, for the ones that
really love harmony, can cause a big discrepancy between the outer world and
the inner world. It's something called packaging. This is when we have a
raw and dynamic emotion or thought or feeling, and in its entirety it's
beautiful but it has rough edges. What happens is a lot of times we look at
that and we say "Mmm... that's a little too scary to give to someone else in
that raw form." Either I'm afraid of how you're going to react or I'm very
uncomfortable with sharing it. So what we do is we end up shaving off the
sides to create a smooth surface. Something that's very palatable for
others to take in. But what happens is, when we give away this smooth package,
we swallow back down all the rough bits. For a time this works. For a time this
is ok. But especially in longer term relationships... with work colleagues, with
partners, with family... we end up having a world that looks harmonious on the
outside but causes us an immense amount of discomfort because we've got all of
these rough bits in our bellies that we are not sharing. That we're not getting
out. So for you beautiful Packagers out there, I would love to set a
challenge in those places where you have a relationship or you have a
situation that feels like there's a big difference, a big discrepancy, between
what you've been sharing and what you're too afraid to reveal to someone. It's
about taking an open hand and saying: "This is what is. Maybe it
doesn't feel good. Maybe it feels dark dirty, but it's real and it's beautiful
and it's dynamic." And when we share with truth and honesty but also with
love and compassion (for ourselves and for the receiver), we open up doors for
growth and expansion. We open up room for lightness to take over where there
was a heaviness at denseness from all of this
withholding. So that's the challenge for today, and maybe for this
week. It's not something that necessarily comes and you do it once and
it's so easy. This is a muscle that needs to be flexed and worked on. But I
promise you...the amount of freedom that comes even in the instant after we share
something that we've been holding back for a period of time. So packagers, happy
hunting. I hope that you can find peace where there has previously been turmoil.
That you can find rest where previously there was the idea of "I can't sit still
in this space because I'm very uncomfortable." Reach out if you have
questions. I would love to hear your experiences with this and
wishing you the best.

Brisbane cemetery's flooding of new graves has kin up in arms - Duration: 3:26.
Grieving Brisbane families are outraged by a policy that sees recently filled graves at a council-run cemetery inundated with water to make the soil compact and stop subsidence
Cr Steve Griffiths says he has spoken with about 20 distressed families about the grave flooding process at Brisbane's council-run, Mt Gravatt Cemetery
"People are pretty shocked with what is happening … they send a metal rod down and feed a hose into it and let it run overnight so it fills the site with water," he told AAP on Friday
Cr Griffiths said if the coffin is not waterproof it fills with water during the process
"Families are genuinely upset about the thought of their loved ones having that experience," he said
Doreen Awabdy, whose brother and father are buried at the cemetery, says people go to a lot of effort to lovingly and respectfully lay their family members to rest, so what the cemetery is doing is heartbreaking
"The minute you walk away from burying your loved one, council workers move in and they push in the hose and spike until it hits the coffin … it can often cave the coffin in, it certainly floods everything," she said
"These things are not waterproof, they're designed to lay your loved ones in the ground and for deterioration over a period of time
" Ms Awabdy said her family weren't made aware of the practice before they agreed to bury their loved ones at the century-old cemetery
She said what the council was doing breaks ethical and moral boundaries. "They don't put it in the terms and conditions, it's not in any of the fine print and certainly when they sell you a burial site for over $6000 they don't tell you," she said
"If they did nobody would be using these grave sites." Brisbane City Council says the process stabilises the graves and prevents subsidence
"Council has adopted a best-practice maintenance program at all cemeteries," a spokesman said in a statement
