Welcome to Indieformer, I'm Josh and today we're taking a look at the Top 5 Indie Games

from November 2018.

We just finished our giveaway of the complete first season of Life is Strange, so head over

to the discord to see if you won.

Now let's take a look at some honourable mentions.

From an ex-animator from the Witcher 3, we have Ricky Runner.

A hardcore parkour platformer in a fully physics-based world.

It hit early access November 30 and I had the chance to play it before release.

And at the very least, the animations are good.

The levels difficulty increased at a good pace and left a lot for you to work out.

When you get into games like this you may feel restrained by what's in front of you,

but you've got to look at how to break the rules.

The only 2 points that need work for me are, firstly there's got to be some music in

the background, it's quite bland without any tunes as you're running and jumping.

Secondly, it's just a tad slow and sluggish for me.

Although it's in a physics-based world, everything just seems a little held back,

or maybe I just suck at these types of games.

I'd love for there to be a sprint option implemented to speed up the pace a bit.

One to watch through its development.

Miles is a freshman in college and 'The Wall' has been his passion project for the last year. last year.

It's a fusion of the strategic elements in RTS' like Starcraft, the fast-paced combat

in online FPS' like Call of Duty, and the crafting/survival elements in open world games

like Rust and Minecraft.

Now that's a great combination of games to draw from.

From the trailer, the crafting and survival look great, the shooting mechanics make it

look like an entirely different game and the reviews so far are really good.

Defend your team's generator and destroy the enemy's in this online multiplayer experience.

It's a got a ways to go with it expected to remain in Early Access for over a year,

so it might be good to invest in it now.

Coming in at an affordable 3 AUD, Warpzone Drifter is a challenging game to fill the

void.

A breakless drifter retro-hardcore arcade game, made by the same creator of the UBERMOSH

series.

The Warpzone is an unstable parallel dimension used for transportation, and it's your job

to drift through specific nodes to stabilise areas of the zone.

There's moving tentacles, limited time and procedural levels to keep your fingers on

their tips.

The controls can be difficult to learn, but once you've got the hang of it, Warpzone

Drifter becomes a great experience.

Here's an interesting one; what happens when you combine a first-person shooter with

the progression and upgrades of a clicker game?

You get Time Warpers, duh.

Coined as an 'incremental game', there's always a fun upgrade to look forward to, and

the numbers keep getting bigger.

If you're someone who likes having a game idle in the background whilst you do other

tasks, then this might be something for you.

If a level is getting too hard, go idle and let your drones and turrets do the work.

Or join a public server and others may be able to boost you along.

Like any clicker game, there's going to be a grind and a point you can't pass unless

you grind, or in this case, go back in time.

For 30 AUD it might be a stretch for some people, but I'd consider it if you want

something you can literally just leave in the background and progress with and can play

at any time you want.

Maybe try to convince a few friends to get it too.

Now let's take a look at our Top 5 from November.

Based on Colin Thiele's 1964 children's book of the same name, Storm Boy takes place

on the beaches of South Australia near the mouth of the Murray River, where the titular

protagonist rescues orphaned pelican chicks, one of whom later becomes the child's pet

and faithful companion, Mr. Percival.

Cool.

Simplicity is at the core of this game.

It's comprised of many mini-games as you experience an interactive retelling of this

classic.

You take control of both Storm Boy and Mr. Percival in key moments, such as when the

pair rescue stranded sailors during a storm.

The music and design are beautiful, but it's a little rough around the edges.

This is definitely more of an interactive story than a game.

It puts pictures to the words of the book.

It's a way to follow a story, whilst also getting involved with some mini-games that

allow some attachment rather than just imagination.

I'd definitely say this was is aimed towards children, but if you like a good children's

book then this will take it to the next level.

It's a different experience when you can actually explore the world of a children's

book, and for a child, there's nothing better.

You can grab this on pretty much any platform of choice.

We live in a world where we use machines to do the dirty work, Despotism 3k flips that

and has humanity enslaved by an AI.

A resource management game, so there's nothing overly fancy here.

Manage the stamina, hunger and reproduction of your human race to continue building energy.

Every 20 seconds your food and energy deplete, so you need to manage how you're making

food and how your creating energy.

The aim is to make it to 25 days.

It's point and click, but there's nothing wrong with that if you're into it, but it's

necessary when there's so much to manage at once.

It's funny and challenging, but when you get the hang of it you pretty much know all

of the responses to make it through easily.

Thankfully though, there's a big update coming to the game that will be add more content.

Random events, point and click and general fun, can't complain for 11.50.

Price, a man who sold his humanity to get a partnership from a leading company: McDade,

Bruton & Moore.

Distraint 2 is a 2D psychological horror adventure game.

It has a dark story and it's fair share of dark humour.

The screen scrolls as you move to its edges with beautifully hand-drawn graphics.

There's music composed for each specific section of the game along with an atmospheric

sound design.

There are jump scares, as it goes with horror games.

But Distraint relies on human emotions, mainly fear.

So I'd call this more of a thriller than a horror.

Obviously, by the title, this is a sequel to an original of the same name where it follows

on from those events.

The mechanics are based around puzzle solving, so if you like a bit of a slow, story-heavy

puzzle game then you should give this a go.

I'd suggest picking up the original if you're going to buy this, but if you don't, the

sequel does a pretty good job of wrapping up the first.

It's only made by one guy, so any support his way ensures he can continue to make games

like Distraint.

For this one, I'm just going to let the developer explain.

It's one of the better trailers to let that happen with.

I'll give you my experiences once he's finished talking.

In theory, it sounds great.

But much like the babies, new players are useless unless

taught what to do.

So far I've not had many take the time to teach me, so I've had to have the wiki up

to see how to make things.

This game will take a lot of time invested to get knowledgeable at.

If you like a game that will reward you for knowledge then One Hour One Life is great.

Speaking and interacting with other players leads to hilarious situations, and you even

choose to be born as twins, triplets or quadruplets with a few friends.

For 30 dollars, I think this is a stretch, but as mentioned, if this is right up your

alley then you'll find it's worth.

A cooperative puzzle game that mixes eye-catching abstract art with mind-bending puzzles to

a unique gaming experience.

DERU is about playing together, you can play single player, but it's about communicating

and solving puzzles with someone else.

The main mechanic of the game is blocking the opposite colour stream.

It begins simple but ramps up in difficulty when new mechanics are added like being able

to leave a block in place to stop a stream or to transfer your size to the other player.

The design of the game is minimalistic and it uses nice shades of colouring.

It helps you focus on the task at hand and doesn't draw too much attention to itself.

There are a few bugs, but nothing that will stop you from figuring out a level.

One thing I forgot to mention is that this is a couch co-op game.

You need to use the same controller or keyboard to move the shapes around the screen.

That might be a turn off for some people, so they've integrated the game with parsec.

A client you can download to play with others online.

DERU is $21.50, so make your own judgements about the price, personally, it's a great

way to wind down and chill out with someone else and I'd happily spend the money.

It may seem odd to have a game like this as number one for the month.

But it's got challenging puzzles, a great design and plenty to figure out.

There really are no downsides to this game, and for other puzzle games like this, DERU

should be an example of what you should be aiming to achieve.

But that was my number one, what do you think the best of November was?

 Mourinho hinted at a bust up between the pair in an interview prior to the match

 He said: "The people who surround the players protect them too much, give them — in my opinion — too much care, too many excuses

 "Everyone always has an excuse. People are maturing more slowly."  It is unclear whether Pogba will be included in the starting XI against Southampton at the weekend

We're developing a respiratory management system that's used by adults

and children with chronic lung conditions like asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis

and pulmonary fibrosis. For both asthma and COPD, there's about

60 million people are affected by it in this, the US, alone. And globally it's over 500 million people.

We have a device that people just blow into and our app alerts users on

whether they're fine need to take medication or go to the ER.

What we're doing right now is translating something that's found in the hospital to the home setting.

We're leveraging gamification to be able to coach people on how to do

the procedure. And then we're implementing machine learning through

the help of the National Science Foundation money, actually, to be able to

interpret the results as if a pulmonologist were interpreting it.

You have a whole bunch of different planets and then so like, for instance,

you go click on the planet and then you try to reach up to the top bar so...

And then it tells you how many points you collected. And they do it a couple of

other times. And then, after that, you can see your scores over time. And then we

recommend that you clean it every once in a while. it's removable and you can just

clean it and even stick it in the dishwasher. And then yeah let it dry.

The NSF has greatly supported the technology behind this and without it

actually we might not even be doing what we're doing right now.

Episode 7: ADDING SCORE | Make a 3D endless runner Godot engine game - Duration: 5:44.

welcome to another exciting Godot game tutorial my name is Kemo Jallow

this tutorial we are going to be looking at adding score system to our 3d endless

runner game to follow along with this tutorial there is a starter project file linked in

the description below you can go ahead and download it when you open the

project file in Godot game engine you will realize that I made some modification to

the game environment to make it look a bit more appealing also there is a new

folder in the resources folder which contains the font that we are going to

be using for our score label. now the link for this phone family is linked in

the description below. now we can go ahead and our score system to our game

scene now to do that we can select the main node from there we add a control node and

now we can select the control and then add a label now this label is going to

be our score label we can just rename it a score label and now we can select

this score label and in the inspector we can set the text to zero and we can set

the horizontal alignment to center and the vertical alignment to center after

that we can scroll down to custom fonts and from here we can create a new

dynamic font now click on this dynamic font and in the settings you can set the

font size to be 32 and the font we can just go ahead and load the font that we

are going to be using in my case I'm going to be using gotham-light font

I'm just going to select that and press open and from here now we can stretch

the label size score level label to make it feel the game window the width of the

game window and after that I'm just going to increase the height a little

bit. now from here we can just run it and see how it looks

now it looks okay now you can go ahead and start scripting to make sure that

the score increases every time an enemy spawn inside our main.cs file we can

go ahead and declare two variables now the first one is going to be a private

int score variable which is going to be our score variable and the second

variable is going to be private label and the name is going to be score label

now this is going to represent the score label of our game score now from here we

can scroll down to the ready function inside the ready function we can set the

score variable to be zero it's going to start with zero and the score label this

is going to reference the label in our game scene now we can do that by

pressing level then getnode and then the name of the node now the path of

this node is if we go inside the godotengine game

it's control and from there you have score label now that's what we are

going to be typing inside here it's going to be it's going to be control and

then score label from here we can just go ahead and save it now remember this

is this supposed to be double quotation now we can scroll down to spawn enemy

function that is the own spawn enemy time out function and inside this

function we can go ahead and increase the score by one that is score equals

plus equals to one and from here now we can set these call

label to this score and the text is going to be score dot then we change it to

string. because the text is already in integer so we change it to string and

from here now we can just save this and run the project inside go to it and

see how it looks now it time is the spawn function is called this call is

increased by one what if we rerun it again and see how it looks you will realize

that this score started adding up before the enemies in fact approaches or

passes the enemy line the players line and to fix that what we are going to do

is to make sure that our score starts from negative values now we can just go

back to VS code now instead of setting the score

variable to be zero we can go ahead and initialize it with negative five that is

we set the score in ready function to negative five now inside these spawn

enemy timeout function we can just add if this score is greater than or equals

to zero then set this score level as the score now we can go ahead and save this

and rerun the game and see how it looks now that means that the score label is

going to be zero until the enemies start or with the players line and then the

score is going to be updated now that's it for this tutorial thank you so much

Game Plan for Buiness Succes - Part 1 - Before You Lay Foundation - Duration: 8:21.

Hello. This is a game plan for you to have business success. If we have not met

before I'm John Ruman international business coaching consultant

thank you for the opportunity this is me taking a post I have done in a local

group in Trinidad and delving deep into it I had a lot of questions and feedback

privately in the group outside of the group and I want to allow a series of

videos to basically answer those questions so this is kind of going in

the first five or six parts of that and I'll be doing these within the

facilitating greatness group in depth for you to check out so the first let me

tell you the the crux of the person the person had a question they had been in

business for a while they'd be having challenges and they're asking kind of

fundamental questions about how they should be running the business if they

should proceed and they were basically financially failing phrase from what I

could gather with at least how it was going now and they just weren't sure how

to get how to get out of the mess they're in so I kind of have this strong

flow that came through me and I just basically kept on writing and

giving a lot of feedback and people loved it and that's what we'll be

talking about in this series so it is basically me going in-depth with what I

had actually said in this post so quite simply this first part that I think is

critical for anyone who wants to start a business is that they often think I'm

just an a and they hear all about people saying jump ship just go take a leap of

faith go do it here's the big challenge of

that I'll be totally honest with you statistically most businesses fail in

the first three to five years I think three years 80% five years 90% something

crazy it's a very small statistic of businesses that actually succeed one of

the reasons businesses do so well is it can take a while to

build momentum there's something called the pivot which is when something

doesn't work out right it doesn't mean you get rid of the business it means you

take a few shifts and tweaks and such to make the business work for example you

probably have heard of YouTube YouTube is not or was not excuse me a video

sharing service it was a dating service

Facebook was a social sharing within universities only he had to be a student

it was very you know very hard to get in and obviously they've changed the models

they pivoted to what the market wanted so that they could maximize the benefit

for what they're trying to do not only financially but also with whatever

vision they have for the organization so that being said when someone tries to

start a company it's often that financially it doesn't do so well for

the first 18 months to 3 years there needs to be super super super lean

finances they may have to sell their car they they start and honestly most are so

broke after three years when the business fails that they're just like

why would I ever do this again here's how you get around that if you have the

ability to have let's say you have two people the husband wife two partners it

doesn't really matter and they support each other

financially this allows for the business to start to have the basic bills covered

whether it be rent whether it be the mortgage whether it be the car all the

insurance food clothing I'm not talking about expensive trips I'm not talking

about elaborate elaborate expenditures of any type what I am talking about is

prudent buying decisions in the first few years

so basics are covered by one person the other person while this is going on

and works in the business figures out what's works and what doesn't doesn't

have the risk of having their home their car their clothing and their food the

basics taken from them because they couldn't succeed and it allows them to

figure out what works and what doesn't likewise if the person is an individual

and they don't have a support partner whether it be a spouse or partner you

know of any sort they are in a different situation they need to work the normal

job to pay for these bills and then in the evenings and weekends

spend time doing this with that being said so regardless of the situation the

job is happening either on a part-time basis or full-time by someone who's

supported by another and again ideally the finances are kept to a minimum so

they could focus on building the business during that time what this

allows you to do is your brain is not like oh my god I'm gonna die what if

this doesn't happen things are not gonna work out it really allows you to figure

things out also it allows for you to take the money

that you generate and reinvest it in the business so let's assume you're making a

certain amount of money you're having some level success let's say you need

certain equipment you can upgrade or improve the quality of equipment you can

use it in online advertising whether it be social media browser search engine

kind of thing it could be taking courses I'd strongly encourage you to learn what

the experts know and do so you are able to better facilitate this all that you

can do while you are working or while your partner is working and what this

allows is for things to build and create momentum once momentum is built and

there's enough continual momentum you now can hire someone part-time to help

you out the great thing about doing that now let's assuming your solo and you

don't have the support system while you do your regular day job someone is

helping grow your business for you start with

half a day a week they can be a virtual assistant grow from there to eventually

to half days or one full day however you want to plan it out and slowly and

steadily expand so you can now over time have it growing and growing business the

awesome thing is as you do this more and more frequently the business will

compound on itself you'll make more sales as you reinvest existing sales for

more social media advertising you'll be able to get more things done that need

to be done by having this virtual assistant working for you while you have

your day job a couple key factors is when you do this regardless of the

situation you're in I would encourage you get enough sleep studies have shown

that ninety minutes less of the amount of sleep your body needs actually means

four hours less productivity what happens is people think I need to live

and work like a hundred hours insane amount of hours a week to have this done

and the problem is they can't have a clear head so I hope this has been
