At almost 70 years of age, Prince Charles has done and seen a lot. The world watched with eagle eyes as the Prince grew up to become an environmental advocate, charity worker and husband - twice - all between attending more royal engagements than one could count

And yet, the future King of England insists that he still has plenty more to do.In a new candid feature with Vanity Fair, journalist James Reginato was given insight into Charles's life as a royal, speaking to a number of close friends and colleagues about the Prince and his relationships with those nearest and dearest to him

And while Charles is turning the big 7-0 this month with plenty of achievements under his belt, he told the magazine: "In my case there are so many things that need to be done

"In the tell-all feature, we hear all about the Prince's relationship with Camilla and other prominent members of the British royal family and what that will mean when he becomes King, as well as his long-term passion for speaking out against climate change

Camilla's positive influenceSince Camilla and Charles married in 2005, it's clear the Prince has been a lot happier

"She's made a massive difference in him," a longtime royal correspondent told VF

The pair are often laughing and chatting, and have a "great affection and humour between them," he explained

In a sweet anecdote, royal photographer Alexi Lubomirski told of the moment he greeted Charles and Camilla at Clarence House ahead of a shoot: "As soon as they looked at each other, there was a sparkle in their eyes - that's when the magic happened

""You feel like they are a young couple in love."And despite a slightly bumpy start for the two, who had both been married previously, Charles and Camilla have made it work

Mark Bolland, a former deputy private secretary to Charles said the pair were "In a very good place right now"

In terms of Camilla's royal title when Charles eventually becomes King, recent reports have suggested she will become 'Queen Consort', which is a customary title for the wife of a reigning King

A source who socialises with the royal circle told VF that Camilla would be well suited to be Queen because she "never complains", and "there's nothing lightweight about her

She's not a bullsh-er and she doesn't take any bullsh-t."Camilla's nephew, Ben Elliot, said Camilla will support Charles as King through thick and thin: "She knows that he is the boss, the star

She does everything she can possibly do to support him. At the same time, he's very proud of her

She's very sharp and perceptive."WATCH: Prince Charles and Camilla's wedding highlights:Story continues after video

Charles and Camilla's caring natureAccoring to VF, royal watchers "esteem" Charles and Camilla because of their kindness and attention to detail

Reginato was told by a royal correspondent that Camilla takes care to remember names and "fosters a sense that we're all in this together"

"She always gives you a little gleam in her eye and will find a moment to look at our cameras

"Meanwhile, the younger generation of royals are "control freaks" according to the VF feature, with Wills and Kate going out of their way to not look at the "fixed point" where photographers group together, meanwhile Charles is "far more relaxed"

Charles the do-erThe Prince has been the brains behind some big organisations that have helped a lot of people

One such charity is The Prince's Trust which has helped over 870,000 disadvantaged people to find jobs, get an education or receive job training

Dame Julia Cleverdon, who was a former CEO of one of Charles's initiatives, said he is "a great connector - the ultimate networker"

"He creatively swipes ideas from all over the world. Then he'll say, for example, 'Why hasn't this one been implemented in Dorset?'"His pro-activity in these areas are certainly something that will serve him well as King of England

According to VF Charles is at his desk at 8.30am every morning, spending a couple of hours completing correspondence before joining several meetings with various people spread throughout the day

He breaks for tea at 5pm, and has a walk. After dinner, he then returns to his office to write letters or read

And while previously the Prince was known for sending opinions and advice on things he has taken issue with, he has been less expressive in recent years

Charles wrote to Reginato, "I don't really see any value in saying, 'I told you so

"He continued: "In putting my head above the parapet on all these issues, and trying to remind people of their long-term, timeless relevance to our human experience - never mind trying to do something about them - I found myself in conflict with the conventional outlook which, as I discovered, is not exactly the most pleasant situation to find yourself

"His relationship with Meghan MarkleIt's no secret the Charles and daughter-in-law Meghan get along well

On her recent royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with Prince Harry, the Duchess was spotted several times wearing a stunning bracelet which was gifted to her by Prince Charles before her wedding to Prince Harry in May

Charles also had a prominent role in the wedding itself, walking Meghan down the aisle and escorting her mother, Doria Ragland, during the ceremony

A close family friend told VF that the Prince and Duchess get along "aces". "They clearly really like each other

There is real warmth and support. Camilla has been very helpful to Meghan."WATCH: Prince Charles walks Meghan Markle down the aisle:Story continues after videoCare for the environmentCharles has also been known for this conservation efforts

Earlier this year, the Prince made headlines in Greece when he denied a plastic straw offered to him with his freddo cappuccino while visiting the European country

In correspondence with Reginato, Charles wrote that one of his duties was to, "Find solutions to the vast challenges we face over accelerating climate change"

But it hasn't been easy for the royal, who said the process of alerting people to the scale of the challenge "seems to take forever"

But the Prince urged: "If we don't engage with these issues, and many other related and critical problems that they inevitably compound, we will all be the victims

Nothing escapes."

Jamie Carragher may have figured out why Mesut Ozil has so many critics - Duration: 3:31.

Unai Emery and Arsenal face their toughest test of the season against Liverpool tomorrow afternoon

The Gunners have won 11 of their last 12 games, but are yet to claim a major scalp having lost to Manchester City and Chelsea earlier in the season

Now is the time for this Arsenal side to prove they can mix it with the best in the Premier League

In the build-up to the game, the discussion has focused on how Liverpool will expose the Gunners' leaky defence

Little focus has been on Arsenal's own forward line which has been pretty impressive in recent weeks

Mesut Ozil has been at the centre of it, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring five goals in his last three Premier League games

The German is a divisive topic and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has made a rather controversial point about him in his latest Telegraph column

He believes Ozil is an 'anomaly' and a number 10 like him can't succeed in a top team

Certainly Carragher's boldest point on Ozil yet - he's criticised him a lot in the past

"Ozil is a traditional 'number 10' in an era where elite clubs want multi-functional strikers and midfielders," Carragher says

"Those who would once have occupied the position of an Eric Cantona or Dennis Bergkamp – players such as David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne - have evolved into more rounded midfielders whose starting position is deeper

"They don't occupy a small space behind the front man, linking midfield and attack, but have a heat map taking them all over the pitch

They press high and they track back.  "The reason Ozil has as many detractors as supporters is he is a bit of an anomaly – an elegant, skilful footballer who at his best evokes memories of the great number 10s from the past, but sometimes looks unsuited to the extra demands of a changing game at the very top

"  Does Carragher have a point?  The best teams in world football such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, City and Liverpool all play without a 'number 10'

Has the game outgrown a player in Ozil's position, much like it did with Arsene Wenger's management style?  It's certainly food for thought and Ozil's performance against Liverpool tomorrow will go some way to either proving or disproving Carragher's point

Emery must prepare his Arsenal team for one thing so they don't come up short against Liverpool - Duration: 3:06.

Arsenal and Liverpool are preparing for their huge game this weekend and both sides will think they've got what it takes to seize all three points, but the Gunners have a glaring weakness that could see the result decided in the first half an hour

Two sides on form  Arsenal are currently enjoying a run of 13 games undefeated in all competitions as of their win over Blackpool in the League Cup on Wednesday and are looking ahead to Saturday with the aim to extend that streak to 14

Meanwhile Liverpool are hoping to claim a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions and keep pace with league leaders Manchester City, who are currently top of the standings on goal difference

The Gunners stayed in the top four following a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace and the Reds kept level with City on points and narrowed the goal difference margin with a 4-1 battering of Premier League new boys Cardiff last time out

Vulnerable Arsenal  The Emirates outfit's fantastic form is disguising some big issues; they are still error prone at the back and were lucky to come away with a point against Crystal Palace last weekend as the home side were arguably the better team for large parts of the game

Palace hit the post early on and missed a glaring chance from close range before captain Luka Milivojevic netted a penalty on the stroke of half-time to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead going into the break

This marked the tenth time in ten Premier League games that Arsenal have gone into the second half either down or level (eight drawing, two losing), which makes their 13 game unbeaten run seem remarkable

Liverpool meanwhile, have led on eight occasions so far. The Gunners have scored 24 goals in the league this season, a massive 18 of which have come in the second half, indicating that they don't truly click into gear until the first 45 minutes have passed

Comparatively, Liverpool have scored 12 first half goals, seven of which were in the first 30 minutes – Arsenal have only scored three in the first half an hour this season

The Gunners' defensive record also leaves a lot to be desired; they have conceded eight first half goals while the Reds have let in just one

Jurgen Klopp will be licking his lips at these stats and those watching or in attendance at the Emirates on Saturday can expect an exceptionally high-tempo approach from the visitors as they look to expose the lethargic Londoners

Tomi Lahren's Kathy Griffin Costume Was So Great Real Griffin Freaked Out on Her - Duration: 2:25.

One of the best Halloween costumes this year came from Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren

— who dressed up as anti-Trump comedian Kathy Griffin.

Griffin came under fire from both Republicans and Democrats last year for holding up a bloody,

decapitated mannequin's head resembling President Donald Trump in a picture she posted

on social media.

Since then, Griffin has made the news for several other stunts and outrageous political

statements, but nobody has forgotten about her awful photo with the decapitated head.

The huge controversy that surrounded the photo as well as its political relevance made Griffin

the perfect subject for Lahren's Halloween costume this year.

"Happy Halloween from all of us infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome!"

Lahren said on Instagram with her reenactment of the Griffin photo.

Griffin, who is likely desperate to move past the controversy, went ballistic on Twitter.

"Gosh you are just so original (Tomi Lahren)!

I thought images like this one incite violence!

At least that's what you and your colleagues at (Fox News) have told me for the past year

and a half.

I'm busy on tour right now or I'd dress up as you: a dumb, racist, and talentless

hack," Griffin said.

This seems like a hastily written tweet by someone who is freaking out.

But Griffin looked over one important detail.

Lahren's costume couldn't be considered "inciting violence" like Griffin's because

Lahren's photo used a clown mask in place of the decapitated, bloody, effegial head

seen in Griffin's original photo.

In addition, making false accusations of "racism" is such a boring, overused left-wing response.

Based on Griffin's response, you can tell she was bothered by Lahren's costume.

She should have taken a deep breath instead of responding.

Of course, Lahren shot back with a clever response.

"You're right Kathy, if I was trying to impersonate you I should have worn the clown

mask instead.

That's my bad!

Happy Halloween!"

Lahren wrote..

Lahren's Halloween costume has to be one of the best costumes this year simply because

of Griffin's reaction.

สิงคโปร์ โค*รน่าเบื่อ? | Singapore - SO BORING!「EP. 2」(ENG Sub) - Duration: 11:09.

I'm now in Singapore.

A lot of people think Singapore is quite boring.

There's only the Merlion, buildings, chicken rice, and that's it.

But I'm gonna give it a chance.

If it really is boring, I'm gonna try to be bored with as much fun as possible.

Let's have fun getting bored!

But let me get fully awake first.

I'm off now.

I won!

[Singapore]

[So boring?]

Help me! I'm stuck!

[Frog porridge]

An army marches on its stomach.

So, I'm stopping here first to have ...

frog porridge!

Ribbit, ribbit!

Let's go!

Here's a Singaporean breakfast dish

Congee with stir-fried frog with chili!

Is this a jumbo frog or what?!

This is so good!

Hot!

Hot!

Hot!

This breakfast dish is ...

a lot of fun!

Let's go find something to do

Let me finish this first.

What part of the frog is this?

[Megazip]

Next, we're in for an easy-breezy fun here at Megazip.

This zipline is right by the sea, so the vista is simply stunning.

You'll see forests, the sea, and everything

An easy breeezy ride!

I'm walking up to the fourth floor.

It is such a beautiful day!

This height should not be too bad for me.

I'm stuck!

I'm stuck! Hello! I'm over here!

Someone's coming to rescue me!

Help me!

Real-life knight in shining armor!

Yay!

Bye!

That's it!

A thrill that ends in the blink of an eye

I'm now at James Cook University.

I'm not here to get a Master's degree or a PhD.

I'm here to play video games!

I have no idea what it's like here, so let's check it out.

You have to submit a request via Facebook message to come here.

No admission fee

This is ...

the very first home video game console ever manufactured

from 1972.

I'm a pro!

Can you remember this?

You probably weren't born yet.

You had to take your game cartridges everywhere.

And you had to blow into them.

Can you tell how old I am?

E. T.

Oh! I know it. My mom called me E.T. when I was born.

This is the ugliest game ever.

E.T.!!

We have no idea where they hide, so you fall into that.

No!

And then we fall back again.

It's like very tricky.

- And that's the bad guy who comes to ... - Oh! And then you fall?

So, you keep falling, getting out. They follow. You fall, and the guys follow you.

What kind of game is this?

NOOOO!

This game is all about science vs. the supernatural.

You insert the game, and while it's loading, you have to ...

pray that it will load to 100%

This is just like the dial-up modem back in the day.

Beep, beep, beep!

You would have to pray that it would connect to the internet.

Please work.

It's just like that.

Are you having fun?

I'm having a blast!

That was so much fun!

It's like taking a time machine back in time.

All the games that we used to play like Super Mario

If you're younger, you might not know them.

I totally recommend this place.

Let's head to our stop.

I'm afraid that you might not be as bored as you should.

Let's go!

Next, we'll have fun eating.

We're gonna have some crab.

But not just any crab!

Follow me!

Didn't expect this, did you?

This place doesn't look like a crab restaurant but is more like a dessert bar.

That's because I'm gonna try

Crab

ice

cream!

This ice cream parlor is called Mingle Mangle.

They serve Chili Crab Ince Cream!

Let's have this outside.

I'm gonna taste it now.

The heat is going all the way to my throat.

It's coconut-y

spicy

sweet

It tastes like chili crab.

This chili crab ice cream is very special a couple of reasons.

1. Normal ice cream parlors don't sell it.

2. Normal people don't eat it.

I'm so impressed that they have the gut to make this and it tastes just like chili crab.

I really want you all to try this.

It's beginning to grow on me!

I'm taking you to a rooftop to enjoy the view of Singapore from up top at sunset.

And it costs on 6 SGD!

Let's wait for the light to turn green.

That's the building we're headed for.

Lost!

I was a little lost.

It's actually very easy to find.

It's at the bus stop.

When you get to Pinnacle Building, look for The Pinnacle @ Duxton, the way to Sky Bridge.

This is a governmental apartment.

We can go up to 50th floor to enjoy the view.

You have to go over there and get a ticket for 6 SGD.

I've got my ticket, and now I'm taking an elevator in G Building.

You can take either Elevator A or B.

We're going to 50th floor.

There are signs saying: No pets allowed.

No sport activities

And if it rains or if there's a storm, we have to come down immediately.

I never thought there would be a spot like this in Singapore.

A breathtaking spot to view the sunset above the city

I can say one of the most peaceful scenic points in the world.

There's barely anyone up here.

If we take the time to do some research and ask people about the place you're visiting,

we'll discover a gem like this.

Just breathtaking.

The sun has already dipped below the horizon.

Let's head to our next destination.

It's a theme park ride.

It's our last stop in Singapore.

Let's get going!

We're here to go on GX5!

We'll go on it first and then have dinner.

We don't want our dinner to come out up there, do we?

Let's head up there.

The ticket is 45 SGD.

Open from 11 til late.

But Google says it's open 24 hours.

This is my friend. [Kyle]

Say hi!

Sawasdee krub.

Kyle is a Singaporean mountain climber. We met in Nepal 4 years ago.

He's a Singaporean, so I'm taking him with me today.

This would be our last bit of fun in Singapore.

Let's go!

Yay!

It's gonna be fun!

It's gonna be crazy.

See you in a bit!

Noooo. I'm gonna die!

OH MY GOD!

OH MY GOD!

ON TOP OF SINGAPORE!!!

SINGAPORE IS SO COOOOOL!

I had a blast!

As you can see, Singapore is not at all boring like many people say.

Did you have fun?

26 years, and I've never done this before.

I think it's gonna be very, very crazy.

See you later!

Ultimately, I think that if we take the time to look, explore, and open our mind

we'll see that each place has a charm of its own.

The same goes for Singapore.

A Tiny Bug May Be Killing Hundreds Of Dogs. So If Your Pet Is Bitten You Must Go Straight To The Vet - Duration: 6:20.

a

Tiny bug maybe killing hundreds of dogs. So if your pet is bitten you must go straight to the vet

While kissing bugs may sound cute and appear tiny they can have devastating

Consequences for the animals. They bite in fact at one point in 2015

It was feared that the insects would kill hundreds of dogs throughout Texas as a result

Then owners in the state were asked to be mindful of some potentially deadly symptoms in

2011 Kiska the Japanese Spitz lived in Plano

Texas with her owner Cora Fortin at the time the dog was just three years old and apparently in perfect health, but

Unfortunately kisses luck was about to change

Describing what had happened to Kiska Fortin told NBC 5 in 2015 one day she brought this strange-looking insect into the house

Concerned kisses owners therefore tried to retrieve the bug from her but before they could the dog gobbled it up

Following the incident however Fortinet her husband may have thought little of it after all some dogs are prone to eating the random things

They pick up on their adventures with no ill effects

But sometime later the Japanese Spitz his condition would take a terrifying turn for the worse

Later for Dan revealed. My husband called me and said that Kiska had fallen over

worried for their pets welfare the couple subsequently rushed Kiska to the Animal Hospital as

The pair race to the facility though, their dogs struggled to even remain conscious and the situation was serious

Alarmingly, it turned out that kiss-kiss heart was failing as a result then veterinary staff at Texas A&M University

Decided that an emergency operation was the dog's only choice and during the procedure

They chose to fit the pet with a pacemaker the device would shock her heart into action every time it detected an atypical rhythm

yet while the operation was quite a

Significant procedure for a dog of kiss-kiss age her owners were just happy that the surgery it appeared to stabilize their beloved pets condition

She was passing out all the way down there. So we didn't know if she'd make it Fortin admitted to nbc5

Sadly though Kiska wasn't out of the woods just yet

That's because the source of her sudden faltering health was still at large

The dog had Chagas disease and so she may have been bitten by a so-called kissing bug perhaps the one that kiss get eaten earlier

Kissing bugs make up the triatoma nigh insect subfamily and typically siphon off the blood of animals

In fact, they earn their distinctive nickname thanks to their tendency to suck blood while around the mouths of humans

But despite the seemingly cute moniker. There's not much to love about the creatures

That's because the bugs which are typically found in the Americas carry a rare parasite that can cause the deadly Chagas disease

Even scarier the insects can pass the illness on to others through their bites

Chagas disease can infect a number of animals including humans and dogs in

some cases the infection develops whirring symptoms such as swollen heart ventricles and

In turn Chegg as diseases effects can eventually lead to heart failure

Which is what happened to Kiska?

When Kiska was diagnosed with Chagas, however, it was still quite rare in, Texas

In fact, her vet had never previously seen another case of the disease her owners. Meanwhile were oblivious to Chegg as his existence

Unfortunately, though in the years that followed kiss-kiss diagnosis, the illness would become more well known

Troublingly kissing bugs appeared to be spreading jaggus disease throughout Texas and beyond and an

Investigation by NBC 5 apparently dug up something horrifying

Hundreds of canines across Texas apparently possessed the parasite responsible for the potentially fatal illness

In fact in the two years between 2013 and 2015

Texas Department of State Health Services records show 351 dogs as having Chagas disease

However, that may just have been the tip of the iceburg

if an examination of the situation from Texas A&M University was anything to go by

you see in 2015 Texas A&M researchers discovered that changose was rife among Texas shelter dogs in

The study that just wrapped up about 10% of dogs across the state were infected

Revealed Sara Hamer who had helped to compile the report

Meanwhile, Ashley Saunders who is a professor at Texas A&M veterinary medicine and biomedical sciences department could attest to the parasites?

advance I

Diagnosed a little Yorkie that lived in downtown Dallas not too long ago. She revealed to NBC 5. So yes, it's everywhere

Regrettably though Saunders and her team are powerless to treat some of the sick dogs that come through their doors, I think

We shocked a lot of people

saunders added but I think one of the hardest things for me is

When we have some clients who come in and they have no idea the disease even exists

At the time tom sidwa a veterinarian with the Texas Department of State Health Services

Was certain that the disease would claim more dogs across the state

Exactly how many animals would fall victim was hard to say since many pets go untested for jaga's

Yet there are some precautions people can take to minimize the risk of their furry friends falling ill

As kissing bugs tend to feed at night

It's best to have your pooch sleep inside

call an exterminator immediately if you find the bugs inside your home, and if your dog develops a cough cannot breathe properly or

Experiences fainting you may wish to ask your vet to check them for Cheng us

Unfortunately, if your pet does pick up the disease, there's currently no cure for it

And this was a reality that kiss-kiss family had to come to terms with

We just really don't know what's going to happen. Next Fortin said to NBC five

Kiska is totally a member of the family and will be devastated when the day comes that we lose her

Why did it take so long for the University of Maryland to fire its football coach? - Duration: 6:31.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Now: how a prominent college football program has responded to the tragic

death of a player.

It's renewed questions yet again about the extent to which athletics can rule above all

else on some college campuses.

As Amna Nawaz reports, the University of Maryland's string of decisions in this case have angered

many.

AMNA NAWAZ: It's been a stunning 36 hours.

Just one day after the University of Maryland reinstated its suspended football coach, the

school's president fired him.

Coach D.J. Durkin had been on administrative leave following the death of 19-year-old Jordan

McNair.

McNair was an offensive lineman who died in June, two weeks after suffering from heat

stroke in practice.

His death led to an investigation about other problems in the program.

While that investigation led to disturbing findings, the school's board of regents stopped

short of holding Durkin responsible for some of those problems.

Initially, the board reinstated Durkin on Tuesday.

That went against the recommendation of university president Wallace Loh, leading to a backlash

on campus and statewide.

Loh, in turn, announced he would retire after the current academic year.

Last night, Loh said that he fired Durkin.

Joining me to talk about this is John Feinstein, sportswriter, columnist and author.

His upcoming book is called "Quarterback."

Welcome back to the "NewsHour."

JOHN FEINSTEIN, Sportswriter/Author: Good to be here, Amna.

Thanks.

AMNA NAWAZ: It has been an incredible couple of days to follow all of this.

Back it up for just a second and explain to us how a man who we now know oversaw a pretty

toxic culture and who oversaw, was in charge of a program where a 19-year-old player died,

how did he get his job back in the first place?

JOHN FEINSTEIN: Well, the honest answer from me is, I have no idea, because none of us

could believe it when the news broke that D.J. Durkin was being reinstated by the board

of regents on Tuesday.

But what apparently happened is, it became a political battle.

In the wake of a tragedy, it was turned into a political battle between Wallace Loh, the

president, and James T. Brady, the chairman of the board of regents.

The two of them were sort of avowed enemies over other issues at Maryland.

And Brady decided that, since Loh wanted Durkin fired, believed Durkin should be fired for

what had happened, the death of a player under his watch, that he was going to find a way

to keep Durkin on the job.

And Durkin came in and met with the board of regents, and apparently gave a rah-rah

speech about what he was going to do at Maryland if he was reinstated that was reminiscent

of Ronald Reagan playing Knute Rockne in the old 1940 movie, you know, win one for the

Gipper.

The regents, I guess, bought into it, at least temporarily, and decided to reinstate D.J.

Durkin, which I think stunned everybody in the state.

And it finally got to the point where Governor Larry Hogan, who appointed 13 of the 17 regents,

wrote them a note, saying, you need to reconsider.

And that was a clear message, especially six days before an election, that this could not

be allowed to take place.

AMNA NAWAZ: Well, his reinstatement caught a lot of people by surprise, a lot of Maryland

fans, people who have been following the story, the players themselves, too, it seemed.

After D.J. Durkin was reinstated, there were reports of players about tweeting their displeasure,

about players walking out of the first meeting.

JOHN FEINSTEIN: Right.

Right.

AMNA NAWAZ: What do you know about what happened in the day after he was reinstated?

JOHN FEINSTEIN: Well, you are right.

D.J. Durkin went to meet with his -- re-meet with his team when he had been reinstated

on Tuesday.

Three players got up and walked out of that meeting in protest of his being allowed to

return to his job.

Many others were clearly upset.

The student senate was planning a rally on campus.

Usually, when you have rallies involving students on campus, it is to tell the team to go win

a big game.

This was entirely different.

And I think the sense was that the reinstatement in many ways devalued Jordan McNair, the young

man who had died, that he died on D.J.

Durkin's watch.

D.J. Durkin was on the practice field when he became overheated and when, for some reason,

the training staff took 45 minutes before 911 was called.

And here is where I think Wallace Loh, the president, made his biggest mistake.

On August 11, the last time I was here with you, he held a press conference.

And he said -- quote -- "The University of Maryland is responsible morally and legally

for the death of Jordan McNair."

That is the day he should have fired D.J. Durkin.

D.J. Durkin was in charge.

AMNA NAWAZ: Here is the bigger question here.

Obviously, football is a big-money sport, right, a lot of resources going into it, not

just in Maryland, but around the country.

JOHN FEINSTEIN: True.

AMNA NAWAZ: How much of a role did that play in all of this decision-making, in standing

by Durkin in the first place, and how much of a problem could this shall at other programs?

JOHN FEINSTEIN: It is a problem at other programs.

Now, they didn't -- hadn't reached the point of a player dying because of a lack of care.

But we all know that the most powerful person at big-time college football and basketball

programs is a successful coach in either sport.

They are the highest paid by far.

They make well into the millions of dollars.

Mike Krzyzewski at Duke makes $8 million a year.

Nick Saban, the football coach at Alabama, makes close to the same.

They're also the biggest fund-raisers for the school, through the success of their programs.

And I think the headline in yesterday's Washington Post, when Durkin had initially been reinstated,

sums it all up.

It said, Maryland board of regents sides with football coach.

So, in other words, given a choice between a football coach who had allowed a player

to die under his watch and the president, who was saying we can't have this, they chose

the football coach because they believed, somehow, that he was going to come back and

lead them to victory.

AMNA NAWAZ: Very quickly, now, does this trigger other conversations in other programs, where

players will now feel empowered to speak out about similar problems?

JOHN FEINSTEIN: Well, I would hope so.

I would also hope what it would do is, it would remind other football coaches and trainers

and doctors that you have got to take good care of your players.

You can't allow this to come close to happening.

Jordan McNair didn't have to die.

If they had gotten him into a tub of ice right away, which is standard procedure when a player

is overheated, he wouldn't have died.

I would hope that all football programs would take steps to make sure that can -- this can

never happen again.

AMNA NAWAZ: Can hope that, for sure.

John Feinstein, thanks for being here.

JOHN FEINSTEIN: Thanks, Amna.
