Hi everybody. Welcome to the channel Land of Smiles Thailand.
So Mem is bored with me what's that all about
we've been here eight months now and this is Mem's side of being here eight
months let's find out what she thinks after living in England for 14 years.
Yes . And we've come back to Thailand we landed in March yes we've been here
eight months yes what is the biggest things the first main thing you say is
money. It's big my money because I liked to earn my money back in England
you had two jobs. Yes. And you I know exactly yeah I know exactly how much
money come in right and it was your own money.Yes.Now in Thailand your micro
businesses you have the t-shirt printing which is just starting
you have the handbags which is ticking over you have the perfume which is new
but they're all new and just starting So your wages now, again your own
money is a lot down compared to the money you had in England. Yes that's it. So how
does that feel. So bad. I am a working woman when.
you were working all the time those jobs you were always busy yeah always busy now
you're not busy I need to learn to relax more. But you now your own boss so
you're not pushing yourself because in England you were being pushed yes to
earn money um yes true.So now you have more time you're relaxing more
I'm not working with the same level and you are relaxing more yeah that is not good.
So it's motivation is not there as when we were in England so money is
your that was your biggest thing is the money difference because we're now on a
budget do you miss what do you miss eight
months here do you prefer here or do you miss a lot
of things in England I a good thing about Thailand and bad thing about me
missing England. Yeah first money I told you second is all my work colleagues
friend in England a third one big thing is my English because my English now
laid-back because when I work with the English people my English forward so you
doing this gets better when you were working yeah it's not going back I think
it's doing fine yes yeah because I you Thai and English same time yeah and I
confuse myself how to speak English alright tech English oh that's always
gonna be a learning curve no it's big thing it's an example you
it's new thing for you to learn Thai word it's perfect for you the but my
English go back would you feel this ran backwards yes. Second thing, big big for me
is money and language and you miss you miss you friends in
England people you work with yes but you've got lots of friends here
yeah it's not same because people in England they're more freedom then Thai in
village they have family so you cannot join my between that's more about
culture here the families number one in the UK family don't care. They still
care but there is more freedom for older friends yes we
lived in a almost a city yeah so there was more things to do as opposed to the
village yeah so is that different the eight months is that you miss that
because you used to get on the bus and go to work so you'd see bus drive and
see people yeah you'd see a lot more people in one day and talk
and this one if they want to go out with you it's cost more money it costs money
to go out anyway here and caught their family so they cannot have time to go
out with us yeah because we can't afford it and they can't afford it yeah
correct so the money the daily living is huge
difference yeah you really are missing that missing and the food English back
in your country you were born you have all this Thai food when you were in
England you missed all the Thai food you did cook some of it but you're rubbish
at cooking and so you were eating foreign food foreign food English food
well guys I live there for fourteen years a lot big chance right now now 8 months I
come back looking at the born again it's big thing I had before now I find a job
okay I can't get the job that is hard bigger because the order factor inside
the job change compared yeah but your yeah your clusters old now it's 40 years old
you're old yeah when you went to that factory
they're all young they new ideas they were all very cliquey yes it didn't
work for you yes not work not work at all we really got you wound up with them
all so the jobs different here different and because a very high
high level for me. High level spirit. is I like to be job main number by more than
plain background yeah you want a serious job that you learn. Correct.
So the job you got was a fail you it let you down let. you didn't enjoy it yeah no
enjoy the job is good, different type so it's means I cannot get inside okay
the family you're now back with the family.
so surely eight months here that's better now yeah better I'm glad because
I have my family one thing keep me the bad. End of the day family have there own
family so I cannot take away too much because they've got limited cost to
leave basic salary service yeah we're used to doing things in England that cost way
too much money here we can't go out for every week little bit for a meal
that we cannot afford it here. so this is one big thing for you eight months
here our level of living and spending money has come down big down way down
from what we used to spend going out for restaurants and meals and drinking now
we've come down to living in Thailand on a basic pension and
earnings so our monthly budget is way down yeah that's is that harder for you
it's very hard I like when I earn money and I when I want to buy something
nice thing for me I know thirty percent I can save so
safe to buy nice thing yeah and now it's nothing for me I
cannot do because thirty percent right now I have gives me enough for food
to live yeah our budget covers all the basics the bills and the food because
you're new businesses are still not earning much money you haven't got you
feel like you haven't got your own money because our pot is there and
I've noticed it's like you haven't got earning your own money you're starting a
little bit now so as your money starts coming in and you earn more hopefully
this is going to help you with a little things you love amiss so the money is a
big thing for you in this 8 months. I think for a lot a lot of people come back to
the England or every country you live in Thailand
the same thing after 6 month there might want to go back to England I believe because
the biggest main thing the bill they pay out and come is different. Comparing England to
Thailand it's relative you earn more salary in England but you pay bigger
bills less salary Thailand and you have smaller bills yet the but when people
earn a lot of money like that they come to hear back so where you
had lots of money now you have no money come in it's you come in backwards you
think in your head but in fact you were living better here yeah I do better the
heat Wow we had four seasons in England we had Springs which was not too hot and
sunny summer we if still wasn't that hot autumn the leaves fall off the trees and
then winter is cold and snow here we it doesn't change much temp maybe five
degrees where we live in the whole year so has coming back to the heat harder
this time Well I think it's my body if I go back to
England right now yeah I don't think my body can coupe with the cold and
freezing again. When we came to Thailand first time we feel
boiling hot yeah good night my body feel good
yeah when half feel a little bit cold we still not course yes yesterday it
dropped to 31 degrees in the our 13 degrees no he went to 31 from 38 yeah so
it's almost winter this winter starting here now and temporary has dropped 38 is
our average in the village it dropped to about 33 31
you were in the 13 honey morning no it wasn't like 13 but he was actually 31 33
you were in the hammock put a blanket over you a pillow it's still 30 plus
degrees name yeah you're feeling cold not feel cold a bit more and more chilly
lipids so the heat difference coming back to Thailand you're used to this
heat though now I'm struggling I have been but it's okay I'm right now it's
perfect for me but your heat no problem with it oh you better England you will
freeze or not free yeah you would freezing. Has Thailand
changed this in this eight months since we came back before has it changed now
this this this time we've come to Thailand it as it changes they're more
money here less money more is does Thailand look the same as he in your head is it
change most of you when we came back to Thailand for a holiday
yes we can call we can do for eat we can do everything then after when they come
back I know I can earn money same again yeah I come back same again then right
now when they come in as spend-spend-spend what I need to spend then
after the project left now I'll feel a bit down and my energy down because the
what happened hmm it's been I said I need to change my project again to be
back Thai style yeah for me indeed is getting your mind back oh my that is my
thing so to end this video yes are you glad you've come back to
Thailand or not so glad I'm right now I'll feel not bad I think is that early
for me so it's still 50/50 maybe not maybe you've yeah
maybe less than his hate Simon more she hates me more
but even if come back to England I might be loving more are we all I said to be
Thailand with Simon do you think we should just send her back to England to work
for six months and see what she does she would soon be back on the plane
