The prevalence of landmines and unexploded ordnance in Quang Tri makes mine risk education a priority.
October 2018, MRE Day Camp co-organized by PeaceTrees VietNam & Quang Tri Women's Union
at 4 middle schools in A Bung, A Ngo (Dakrong) and A Tuc, A Xing (Huong Hoa)
Through the Mine Risk Education (MRE) day
I have learned that
Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) has a massive explosive effect
Can injure people
If I come across bombs or grenades
I will warn people around
Do not play with them
And call the hotline
Or tell the adults
Or the responsible unit for handling
For many years, PeaceTrees Vietnam
Together with the Provincial Women's Union
Have held many MRE activities for children in Quang Tri province
Wishing to give the best for our children,
Not just knowledge, skills, health but also safety
When you look at this thing you often think this is a toy
No
Only when you comfirmed that's not UXO
So you can touch that
The MRE activities for the younger generation
And for every person
Are a very important mission because they help us to avoid the danger of UXO
Mine
Artillery projectile
Hand grenade
Great
If you encounter UXO, you cannot touch them
You must notify the elders or the local government
Or you can call to the hotline phone number
0901.941.941
I am a landmine victim
My body is handicapped
My limbs are lopped
My eyes are severely damaged
And now my life is very hard
I have to use a wheelchair or artificial limbs to move
I have some messages to everyone
Let us be the MRE propaganda partners
And let us raise the awareness about the dangers of UXO
To protect ourselves
And our family
As a teacher, in this MRE day camp
I find it a very useful day
Students are more knowledgeable about UXO, the risk and impacts
As well as the prevention of UXO accidents
This is one of the activities that gives children a lot of excitement
As well as the lessons for them
They can apply them to their daily life
Together against mines!
