So hopefully you guys can hear me good enough.
I had to take my microphone off, because the little windscreen thing fell
off and I can't find it. It'll probably fall out of my bra
sometime tonight. Like could go take a shower and there's
a little windscreen thing. Uh,
that's my life. I wanted to talk to you guys about this
bench. You remember the bench that uh,
my nephew did the fractal burning on top of.
If you haven't seen that yet, I'm going to put a link to it in the
cards. I think they're up over here.
I don't know. Everything's backwards for me.
So just look for the cards. He did the fractal burning on the top of
it. It's a mid century gossip bench and I,
I wanted to talk to you guys about making things useful again.
First of all, let me get the camera turned around.
Let me show you what it looks like now. So I have a video on actually doing the
upholstery. If you want to learn to do this is
simple upholstery. If you want to learn to do that,
I will also put a link in the cards above,
but this is what we've done with the gossip bench so I don't have the top on
yet just because I want you to see what we did.
So we took the top off simply because it made it easier to put the charging
station. So right here you can see we've got four
charging stations and then there's a cord.
So underneath here you can kind of see a cord comes out and you just plug this in
and you can charge your devices. But if you take a peek,
you can't even see the box. It's a very low profile box that Dad
found.
Um, he didn't want to be on the video.
Okay Boys, if you're listening right now,
you totally want to be my dad. When you grow up.
He is the best. He is very supportive of me since the
day I decided to start this business in any business that I've ever wanted to do
anything I've ever wanted done, even when I am,
anything I ever wanted to do. Even when I wanted to be a Rockstar,
he was okay with it, but he said,
you know, learn to type so you have something to
fall back on. But uh,
he wired in the plugs so you can charge your devices.
And what I was thinking was how great will this be,
and let me get turned around, how great will this be in like in an
entryway so I can sit on it, you know,
put my shoes on, put some,
you know, a couple of baskets underneath.
Put your winter boots or gloves or if you're in Florida,
I don't know what you put in their flip flops.
I don't know. We have gloves and hats and stuff.
We've gotta store away underneath this. So this is really,
you know, something for Minnesota as far as
baskets, but I'm sure you got something you could
do with the basket. But then I thought in the entryway when
you have the top on, you can put a bowl for your keys and
then plug your phone in when you come in.
So it's a great place because you can hide the devices.
And Dad and I had a big conversation about this.
He wanted to put the plugin on the back side of this piece.
So let me show you. He initially wanted to put the plug in
here and that would be functional. But the thing that bothered me about it
was then the chords would drape up over the top,
which would be very cluttered.
And this way with this in here, when the top is on,
you can store your devices under here, charge everything and the clutter out of
the way. Instead you can have a nice entryway,
bowl or flowers, put your keys in the bowl,
something pretty. And this,
you know, put some baskets under there to store
winter hats and things like that and get it out of the way.
And you have a place to sit down, put your shoes on before you leave the
house. I mean,
I just think it becomes much more functional and yeah,
these pieces, you see them all the time and nobody has
a landline. I mean,
very rarely, if you have a landline,
it's, it's on a wall or it's a cordless,
so you don't really need a place to sit and talk on the phone,
but you can make this functional again by adding the charger.
Which simple process if you know anything about electrical,
which I do not, but dad assures me it's a simple process
to add the four prong charger. So I mean my husband and I can plug in
our phones, we can plug in the iPad and we can plug
in whatever we need that needs to be plugged in and charged in a night.
So we can just set it right there. And this can even be really cool in a
bedroom, you know,
you always need a place to sit down and rest and it's just cute.
And now it's functional because it's original purpose,
it no longer serves its original purpose.
But these pieces still do have a purpose.
So if you see these, you know,
consider making yourself an entery your way,
charging station and think about all the other pieces that you could do this to
and make them functional again. So always think of a different way to
rescue these pieces and use it in your daily life.
So I mean, I mean,
I love this solid wood. It's gorgeous.
It was gorgeous before I painted it. It was,
you know, it needed some upholstery.
That's a simple fix and then we just added a plug in.
It's, it's an easy,
inexpensive way to take this into the next century so that it becomes useful.
So that's my little rant on using pieces that already exists.
You know, it's a great little entry table now.
Happy junking everyone, thanks for watching.

I would appreciate it. I would love to hear from you guys if
you have something that you made useful again,
please comment on it below. So show me pictures.
You guys, I would love to steal ideas from you
because like I am huge on stealing ideas from people.
So please show me something that you've made functional.
My Dad has done this with quite a few pieces.
You know what? Before this ends,
this is the sale I've got going on here. Let me see if I can get a quick shot of
another piece. So check this out.
So there's this phone back here. See that?
That is also a lamp and a charging station.
So Dad just, or mom just came out.
Hi Mom! Youtube hasn't met mom yet.
Say, "Hi
Youtube." So that's a phone and a charging station
and a lamp. So it's a charging station for your
phone and a lamp. So Dad's the master at making things
functional. So comment down below about things that
you've made functional again, and happy junking everyone.
Now mom's just getting silly. Say happy junking everyone.
