Hi guys, welcome back yes. I realized that Halloween is over
But today is the day of the Dead Dia de los Muertos, excuse my horrible Spanish
Anyways today I am paying tribute to my Mexican roots. Yes. You heard me correctly
Mexican roots stick around I'll show you how I did it!
I'm starting out first with a very light wash of water activated body paints
This is white with just a hint of blue and I'm taking a light very light wash all over the face. I
Then took the white mehron cream stick and put it on all of the high points of the face
And then I worked on blending for a nice even finish
So just when I was thinking I was good and ghostly I
Did another layer of the white cream paint and another layer of blending. I wanted the finish to be very smooth
So now with a regular gray eye pencil
I'm mapping out all of the hollow areas of the face around the eyes the jawline on the nose
You'll see and then I'm also mapping out on my forehead and chin where the marigold flower is gonna go
The shape of the nose hole. It's kind of like an upside-down tooth
Now with these blue toned eyeshadows I'm going into the shadowy areas and I'm really taking my time to build the color
I didn't want to get too dark
So I'm starting out with lighter blues and then building with a darker blue and then eventually adding black colors until we get a nice
beautiful finish
Started to use the shadow to shade the nose hole, but then I thought well, that's dumb because I'm just gonna paint it
So I mixed together a black and blue wash and I went into the nose hole
But then after a dried I did add the shadow on top of that for a little bit of dimension
I'm now going into those
darker areas with a
deeper tone
shadow to help build that color you really need to take your time with this because it will get muddy very quickly, and it's
It's hard to recover after that
Yes, it's a skeleton but it's me we're talking about of course it has eyebrows
So I'm using the mix that I used for my nose, and I'm painting on some really sharp
eyebrows and then I'm gonna go over the top with a blue liquid eyeliner to
Create little brow strokes, you know, that's my signature these days
So again
I'm going in with darker shadows to deepen that color and then I'm gonna take a bright electric blue color and
I'm gonna accent around the bones to try to give it a little bit more dimension
So you'll see that I'm accenting around the high points of the cheek to make it look like there's a little bit of a curvature
Around the eye socket and up on the temple area and all around the other areas of the face as well
I'm using an eye pencil now to map out the layers of the marigold flowers on my forehead and chin and then I mixed up
yellow red and orange body paints to sort of a marbled effect for each petal, and then I carefully layered them on
layer by layer
I'm now going in with a small liner brush with a darker red tone color to add some
Details to each of the petals to create more shadowing and dimension and really make it look act like a 3d flower like a marigold
After that liner detail
I took brown shadow and did the same thing and then I went over that again with a yellow shimmer shadow
And then I mixed up more light toned like a yellowy
Light tone highlight color and added that with a liner brush as well
I
Wanted to keep the extra details pretty simple since the flower was so elaborate
So I just did this upside-down heart shape and then I also took this electric blue
Colored eyeshadow and mapped out where all of little jewels were going to go
And then what that does is it's giving sort of a glowing effect because the jewels are gonna be in opposite color
I used a dark kohl liner
around my eyes just to sharpen them up a little bit and then add it a little bit more blue shadow on the eyelids and
Then I started mapping out the teeth. So again, this was a slow build up
I used the shadow to map out where all the teeth were gonna go and then I extended the lines a little bit longer
To make them look a little bit more realistic
Then I went back through with that same blue-black color
To sharpen up all of the lines and then what you see here is I'm making sort of a v-shape on
all of the ends and what that does once you smudge it out and add the shadows it makes it look like more
realistic teeth I
Added shadow to my inner lip area to darken that up and make it look a little bit nicer
And then it's time for jewels. These came from the craft store. You get them in the scrap booking section
They already have glue on the back. So you just have to pick them off with a tweezer and set them on your skin
They stick really nice
So here I thought the teeth needed a little bit more definition
So I mix up some white body paint and then I added some highlight areas and it really did wonders
They really look like teeth now. It's time for lashes. These came from Walmart
They were a set and you can see that I painted the bottom ones with like an orange body paint
And then I popped in my contact lenses and my sassy blue wig
I made this flower crown using flowers from the Dollar Tree that looked most like marigolds
I found a Dollar Tree headband glued this strip of felt on top so that I could attach these flowers with hot glue and
shablam - flower crown
So here is where I regret not getting the costume together, but you know what,
I do have ha ha wait one second black body paint
I mixed up some black body paint painted myself so I can be a beautiful floating head and voila
Thank you so much for hanging out today and for watching this video
I really love doing these costume looks and I hope that you enjoyed this past month of Halloween fun
