Can Driving Cause Lower Back Pain? Correct Sitting Posture In Car - Duration: 2:29.

- Hey, I'm Dr. Gregg Gerstin with Align Wellness Center,

and I wanted to take just a minute to go over with you

a quick tip on how to do some things

if you've had problems with lower back pain,

or numbness and tingling in your legs,

or problems with sciatica.

Today, we're at my car,

and I wanna talk to you about how to get in

so that you don't aggravate your lower back,

and, if you live in Chicago like we do,

most people have somewhere

between a 30 to 45-minute commute,

so, the way that you sit in your car

is really gonna help or dictate

if your lower back gets aggravated

or feels better for you.

So, let's come on in,

and the first thing that I wanna do

is show you the best way to get into your car.

Now, this is how your grandma typically does it.

The way I like for people to get into their car,

and come on with me, Annie,

is to have a seat and put your tush all the way in.

Then, you bring one leg in and the other.

Once you're all the way in the car,

I want you to scoot your tush back.

One of the biggest problems that people have with sitting,

whether it's in their car or at their desk,

is that when we sit, there's something at our lower back

causing our butt to scoot forward,

and what you may notice is that it arches my lower back

and it pushes my head forward.

A key that we're gonna look for you

to do is to sit all the way back,

and if your car has a mechanical lumbar support,

you wanna make sure that it's all the way forward.

If it doesn't have a lumbar support,

or, if it doesn't wind up when you're sitting in,

put your head all the way back against your headrest.

You may need to add a lumbar support

so that you can get a good curve in your lower back

and you could be safer while you drive.

We'll talk about that in another video

when we talk about head injuries or car accidents

and where your head should be placed.

Now, this was just a quick tip

that I wanted to share with you.

Oh, let's go over how we get out of the car.

Same way we got in.

One leg out, second leg out,

and then, we put our feet down and we stand up.

So, I just wanted to give you

a quick tip on how to use your car

and how your car can help manage and control

your lower back pain rather than making it worse.

If you liked this video and the information on it,

please, give it a thumbs up and like it,

and if you know someone who needs help

or may have a long commute that this would be helpful

for them to make the adjustments for,

can you share this with them?

Once again, I'm Dr. Gregg Gerstin

with Align Wellness Center, and thank you

for letting me be a part of your health.

(cheerful music)

Behind the Scenes at CTA: Rail Car Maintenance - Duration: 4:45.

At the CTA, safety and reliability are top priorities. In addition to periodic

inspections of maintenance work that is done to keep each train car in good

working shape, cars and their onboard systems are thoroughly checked for

function and passenger comfort before they go into service. In this

behind-the-scenes video, we'll explain the inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting

measures we take to keep you safe and our fleet rolling.

My name is Devenless Wilks. I'm a Rail Maintenance Manager 1, and what I do is annual inspections on

2600 cars.

My name is Arthur Scales, Senior. My title is RTO.

Before train operators leave the terminal, they perform a series of pre-checks on their

train before departing, including walking on the train to look for issues inside

or outside each car including any issues with signs, lights, doors, temperature,

cleanliness, or vandalism. If I'm a rail operator and I'm starting my shift

I will go to my head car and I will key up my railcar and look at -- what are my

safety things? I will check my windshield wipers, I would make certain that my

headlights are working, I would check my exterior lights along the side to make

something if they are illuminating and going out, I will cycle my doors from

this car to make something that they all the doors in the concerts are opening

and closing on both the cat's side the non cap side. Our fleet started in 1981

which make that car 37 years old today, and although we try to do a lot of

things to keep these trains running, to keep the doors operating properly,

imagine if you had a car that was 37 years old. On each car we have two PIUs

Passenger Intercom Units. If a rider gets on a hot car in the summertime or

cold car in the wintertime, all you have to do is go and punch that button and I

will take care of that problem. If I come back there and I can't get heat in that

car I'm gonna evacuate car so nobody will get on that car.

An operator will do as call in control and reporting this as a defect and at the

next opportunity to pull this car off the road that's what we're going to do, bring

it in the shop and inspect it and make it safe for our guests. In addition to the

things that we do when the cars come into the shop, rail engineering determine

what type of overhauls we need to do based on trends that we see, based on

wear and tear of the vehicles. For example we change out the wheel

assemblies probably every six months because the wheel constantly grind down

as they're riding on the running rail, and so wheel assemblies are changed

out. We look at the control groups and see that if the switches are

defective, at the wiring inside of the group are constantly burning and

decaying, we do an overhaul to maintain the safety and efficiency of these

fleets. What we do on these cars is what's called periodic inspections and

annual inspections. And an annual inspection is more of a surgical

procedure. We are dropping trucks, we are looking in between things that

you just can't see on a normal basis. We take eight hours to look at one car to

make certain that it is safe, it is replenish, and it can go out for

service. The number one thing that CTA tries to implement and instill in

everyone that works here is safety. We take safety to the highest level at CTA.

We will never ever release a car that we know that is unsafe for our customers.

Our trains travel about 230,000 miles, about seven

times the circumference of the earth at it's equator on a typical weekday

year-round, and the talented and well trained people in yards, shops, terminals,

and who operates service are why this is possible even with some of our cars

nearing 40 years of age. In addition to the continual work we do to prevent and

mitigate delays and innovate new strategies to keep our trains rolling

we're also making historic investments in the system including replacing old

rail cars with new ones. We've also added the recent 5000-series which replaced

nearly half our fleet, and a new 7000-series is expected to begin arriving in 2020.

2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye: Drag-Strip Tested — Cars.com - Duration: 7:20.

Earlier this year we introduced you to this monster. This is the 2019 Dodge

Challenger SRT Hellcat RedEye wide-body. Now that's a mouthful of words and this

really is a handful of car. It's big claim to fame is that it has the

now-discontinued 2018 Challenger Demon engine in it so it makes 797 horsepower

instead of the Demon's completely mental 840 horsepower but that's still 80

horsepower more than a regular Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Now when we first

drove it it was at a circuit track just outside of Portland, Maine and we came

away a little less than impressed because let's be honest here the

Challenger is really not a good circuit track car. It's too big, it's too heavy

and when you could put it up against something like the Mustang which is much

more sharp or the Camaro which weighs less it doesn't hold its own all that

well. But I think the Dodge folks will agree that this thing really does better

on a different kind of track, a drag strip. So we brought it here to Union

Grove, Wisconsin to Great Lakes Dragaway because we thought maybe we should just

try putting this big cat on the right track. Dodge Engineering has done some

work on the Hellcat Redeye to really make it handle better. It does have a

fully adjustable suspension but most of the components that they've included

with the Redeye are meant for straight-line acceleration and it goes

beyond just the supercharged engine. This has a system called the SRT power

chiller. We first saw that on the Demon and they've included it here. You can

only get it on the Redeye however. What it does and this is a little complicated,

so bear with me a second, is that it cools the coolant that's going through

the superchargers intercooler. Now when air comes into the engine through the

supercharger it gets compressed and that makes it hot so eventually they put it

through an intercooler which cools it down a little bit. Now what the power

chiller does is it cools the intercooler even more and ideally what it does is it

drops the intake charge by 45 degrees Fahrenheit over the ambient temperature.

Now colder air is denser air, denser air means more oxygen, in a given volume more

oxygen, bigger explosions, more power. Now it only works on temperatures above 55

degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperature and today we've got temperatures in the

mid 40s so it's really not going to be a factor but if you're drag racing your car

on a warm day this could really make a difference. The power

chiller works while you are actually racing but there's another feature

called after run chiller that works when you're going between runs. So you've done

your run down the drag strip, you're going back to get in line. If you shut

the engine off to prevent it from getting too hot the air conditioning

system will still run and it will still run the power chiller and it continues

to cool down that intercooler coolant. You can actually monitor how hot the

intercooler coolant is on the Dodge performance pages inside and you can

time your next run when it's at the optimal temperature so you can be making

the most power. If you specify the wide-body package for your Hellcat

Redeye you get these enormous tires these are Pirelli PZero in 305 35 Zr 20.

They are massive and they come with these fender flares as well because they

stick out beyond the edge of the car. Now they put down a lot of grip both in

corners and on a straight line drag way like this. Now you don't have to order

the wide-body package when you get the Redeye but quite frankly, why wouldn't

you? In order to really get some good times on the drag strip you've got to

clean off those rear tires and get some heat into them and Dodge makes that easy

with the integrated line lock control. All you have to do is get into the

central multimedia display. You push SRT and it takes you to the race options

menu, push line lock then activate line lock control. Hold the brakes, push the

okay button and hold it down. Let off the brakes, give it some gas to burn off the

tires amd when you're ready to roll out you let off the okay button and your

tires are now hot and ready for racing. All of these components taken together

should add up to be what creates a pretty spectacular drag race car so

there's really nothing left to do except throw it down the quarter mile and see

exactly what she'll run.

Before the Challenger could start making runs down the quarter mile there are a

few things that have to be adjusted in order to optimize the cars acceleration.

Dodge has engineered a lot of adjustability into the Hellcat Redeye

allowing you to adapt it for street cruising circuit track racing or

blasting down the drag strip as quickly as possible. That's what we're going for

here and after a chat with Dodge's engineering

team here's how we set up the car for our drag strip runs. First, select the

custom drive mode. That lets you adjust the cars various systems independently.

Put the power slider in 797 horsepower mode, obviously, as you want all the

ponies at this party. The most important adjustment is to put the transmission in

track mode. That will bang off shifts as quickly as possible which is what we

want here. Paddles you can leave on or off. We turned them off. The transmission

shifts faster on its own than we ever could manually. Traction control is also

switched to track mode. This switch is off the traction control entirely but

leaves stability control on in its most forgiving mode. Suspension can be in

sport or street but we left it in street mode to enable the most weight transfer

to the rear wheels as possible. Finally, steering we put into sport mode

as we like a little bit of firmness and feedback when we're going over 125 miles

per hour at the end of the drag strip. Finally it's time to run. We started by

giving the tires a good warm-up burnout using the line lock feature these are

street tires and you want them as warm as possible but being street tires they

don't hold heat all that well so a good two-second burnout followed by a 10-foot

rollout is crucial as is getting to those starting timing lights as quickly

as possible. Launching is tricky in a Hellcat. You

have to feather the throttle as mashing it will just set up wheel spin and axle

hop. You can't get on the gas hot and heavy until after the 1/2 shift and even

then you have to be careful. When it all hooks up perfectly however the results

are impressive.

Our first few runs generated low 11 second times but finally we nailed it.

10.8 seconds at 126 miles per hour, just as quick

as Dodge says it is. That this car can do this on pump gas and street tires is

amazing. Even more amazing, the best zero to 60 time being measured for the

Hellcat Redeye was 3.17 seconds beating Dodge's official

3.4 second zero to 60 time for this car.

After testing all morning out here at the drag strip we can unequivocally

state that the new 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye is in fact a 10-second car

right off the showroom floor. That is extraordinary. What times we live in

folks. If you'd like to read more about the new Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye

or any of the new Dodge Challengers look it up on Cars.com

The Scariest Car I've Ever Worked On, It Can Kill You - Duration: 5:25.

Rev up your engines, johnny asks, what's the scariest car you ever

worked on, ok well I'd have to say the scariest car I've

ever worked on was the first generation toyota prius,

and here's why, that had a hybrid battery inside and it had 288 volts in it, to give

you an idea, to work on them you got to have mutlimeters like this one, you can't use cheap

stuff, you got to use expensive stuff, but realize that 288 volts can kill you, most

cars of course are just 12 volts, 12 volts is very low power, you can stick your tongue

on a positive terminal and your finger on a negative and nothing is going to happen

to you, it wouldn't hurt you at all on a 12 volt system,

but with 288 volts that can kill you, hey your house has 120 volts that can kill

you too, well imagine 288 volts it can easily kill you, if you want to work on those cars,

you have to buy special electrician gloves, their 2 layers, first theirs an inner layer

that you put over your hands then theirs an outerlayer and you have to check the inner

layer every time you work on them, you got to blow them up and then if you hold them

and you see them leaking out somewhere, that means theirs a pinhole somewhere,

well electricity can go through that pinhole and kill you, so ever time you work on a car

you got to put on these fancy gloves, check them to make sure their not leaking, and then

be very careful that you don't short any positive to ground when you're messing with 288 volts,

believe me when the first time I worked on one of those things, it was a very scary experience,

and from what I've read, some of these responders, they see a vehicle that's an electric car,

hybrid car like a Prius, and they know it's got 288 volts, their going to be very leary

about trying to reach in a rescue people if something is shorted outside and they grab

some of the metal and they get 288 volt, so really that's the scariest thing and I don't

really mess around with them much, I'll work on the other parts of the cars,

but I tend to stay away from the 288 volt systems on those things because that's deadly

voltage it can kill you, Van says scotty I saw the video where you

said not to use additives in your gas, what about the Gumout complete fuel system cleaner,

it's a good fuel system cleaner but that said, most people never need it,

if you buy a used car and it's a piece of junk and nobody ever changed the filter, the

oil was never changed and the engine is all carboned up inside, sure a cleaner can help

it somewhat, or if you live in a place where they have

really crappy gas like the guys tell me in Cuba and like in Pakistan a lot of their gas

is crap and you got to put additives in it because the gas burns so poorly it clogs up

the engine, but here in the US, I got 3 well 2 toyotas

and a lexus sitting in the driveway and they work perfectly fine, but if you buy a used

car and you don't know it not a bad idea, but normally you never need to put cleaner

in a car, the additives that you need are generally in the gas they let you buy if you

buy quality gasoline, Panito says scotty should I get a CVT or manual

2018 civic coupe as a base model, I live in New York City I was thinking CVT, rethink,

get a standard, the one problem with hondas has always been that their automatic transmissions

were always somewhat weak, those CVT transmissions are much more complex than the automatics

and the problem with honda is their always trying to make their own transmissions which

is kind of a mistake, most manufacturers these days don't even make their own transmissions,

they buy them from somebody else, like the Chrysler rams and their vans now, their using

aisin a Japanese transmission, a lot of the Volvos are aisin Japanese transmissions, allison

is an Indiana company and they make truck transmissions for all kinds of truck companies,

honda makes their own and their kind of weak, I would go with the manual on that, it's going

to last a lot longer, belcher says what's your opinion on the v6

ford mustand 2003 era, well you know I like the way the cars look, but I don't like the

v6 engine, their kind of a weak engine, they don't hold up as long as the v8s, they certainly

don't have the power that the v8s had, I'm not a real fan of the v6s in those,

I like the v8s I mean, to me the mustang has a rumble of a v8 and the 6 it's like meh,

you know if you're a slower driver and you like the way the car looks and drives, go

right ahead and get one but, I like the v8s in those things,

potta, scotty I just went through a body of water and it looks like theirs steam coming

out of the radiator, the car acts and seems fine but the steam has be worried,

you probably don't have to worry, only one of two things can happen,

one you go through water, water gets on the radiator, the radiator gets rid of heat, so

if you got a bunch of water on the radiator, it will eventually steam up from the heat

and then it will eventually just evaporate off and it will stop doing it,

that's normal that will happen, but let's say your up north somewhere where the water

is really cold and your car is really hot, if you do go through a bunch of water, ice

cold water hitting the plastic or the metal on the radiator can make old brittle ones

crack and start to leak, so if you find out days later that your still

getting steam, it's damaged and you want to have it pressure tested for leaks and stuff,

but if it goes away, that just happens from the water getting on the radiator and it's

got to come off somehow and the hot radiator will just steam it off,

so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to ring

that bell!
