Applying Modern Commerce Strategies – Sambit Dutta of Land O'Lakes - Duration: 3:29.

We had about three situations where PROS comes into picture.

Well, number one is we are looking for a solution to improve our margins and go scientifically

about it.

Instead of just improving margins in a specific area, we want to get a holistic view on how

to improves margin, and PROS has a wonderful product that actually goes and does that.

The second aspect is we wanted to improve our efficiency of how we manage pricing.

The price administration is a nightmare for us because we have about 20,000 SKUs and lots

and lots of customers.

The combination of different prices that can be said is too many, so again, PROS we thought

will be a great solution for us to go and manage that.

The third aspect is that as we started going on the digital journey, we started implementing

eCommerce products.

Then there were different kind of pricing situations where PROS just comes into picture.

Number one is promotion optimization, so as we promote something to a dealer of the 120

promotions, which one to serve up to our dealers.

The other example is dynamic pricing, so again, as we're going online, and we are making those

prices more dynamic, we wanted to make sure that we have a tool that can actually go and

do that.

Those are the three situations where we use PROS.

We have a solid business case that justified why we started this investment.

At this point of time, we're tracking very well in terms of what's being implemented

and what kind of results we are seeing in a limited scope.

We are a CPG company, so our primary channel is channel.

Another important channel for us the intermittent dealer channel, which is not the big dealers

but these are mom and pop shops that spreads all across US.

There are about 6,000 of them that actively sells our product.

One of the expectations for these 6,000 or so dealers is to say how can you make our

business more frictionless.

Currently, we had a very manual touch point at every point of an interaction, and that

was not working with them because another thing happening from a buyer perspective is

that the 60-plus-year-old buyer was transitioning into more of the millennials that are running

their business now.

They do not want to call like the dad on a phone to place their order.

They wanted something mobile.

They wanted something more eCommerce like that they can place orders online.

That was one of the primary drivers for our eCommerce strategy.

Of all the different competing vendors out there, PROS came very highly recommended.

They have been a very willing partner, the kind of people that bring in the top-notch.

Their sales people are industry educated sales people so when I put them in front of a business

person, the conversations are immediately business-centric conversation, and they can

understand each other quickly.

The other thing I've seen is that they partner very well in the sense that if I ask them

to go and do a for me so that we can demonstrate the value proposition better, they are very

willing to go and partner at every point of the sales cycle.

Even after the sales cycle, whenever I needed some help, I could reach out to any level

in the organization, and I think the response is pretty good from that perspective.
