CREATED THE PIECE.

THIS ONE, THE ARTISTS WERE

INSPIRED BY A BUILDING THAT USED

TO SIT ON THIS SITE THAT WAS

TORN DOWN IN THE 1950'S AND THE

IDEA WAS TO RECLAIM THAT CORNER

WITH AN ECHO OF THE BUILDING

THAT WAS THERE BEFORE.

Clairity: The Makeup Artist Helping Immigrants Like Her Follow Their Dreams - Duration: 4:17.

Hey everyone! On this episode of Clairity

we're talking with Alexandra , a makeup artist for Artistry.

At just 16 years old,

Alexandra left Ecuador and moved to the

United States to pursue her American dream.

Now she's showing off her skills

at Fashion Week and beyond. So let's get started.

So can you speak a little bit to your upbringing

and how it influenced your

entrepreneurial spirit?

When I was 7-years-old, my dad actually said,

"OK. I'm gonna teach you how to start a business."

And he bought me a bag of candy.

Then he said, "OK so you're gonna sell

each piece of candy

this amount right then after you're done

you're going to pay me back and you're

going to keep the profit so that you

can start your own capital and that I just started

my own little venture from there.

He was always the one that would be

the dreamer and just like pushing us

to be better to my new opportunities.

At some point I did call my dad and I said,

you know, "I don't think I'm gonna make it."

"I need to go back."

And he said, "No, because you have to finish what you start."

My husband and I, since we got together,

we knew we wanted to be in business for ourselves.

We met our mentors and we wanted to do to

the opportunity it was just like the

light at the end of the tunnel, because when

you come here it's like the American

dream but little by little we were like,

"Oh my god, like okay, is there a life here?"

Because you can work so much and then you have no time.

I think that that part of really making the push —

a lot of people say, "Oh I don't have time for this, I don't have time for that..."

You have to make the time.

Right.

Something that I really love about Artistry,

not only about this collection,

It's that it focuses so much on your skin.

It's your natural glow so that's the beauty

of this look: it's shiny it's beautiful

it's glowing, so a lot of women don't like makeup.

Some do, some don't...

but the beauty of this collection

is that it's just the beauty within.

That's what we call it.

Amazing!

I understand you've also done makeup for a

New York Fashion Week.

What's that experience like?

Well that experience is awesome.

I can imagine.

It's really, really exciting.

Especially when you get to

work with a lot of makeup artists backstage

and the environment is crazy. You have two

girls taking the makeup off and then you

three putting it on.

You know, it's stressful because she has

to be done if she's up next but

it's a balance of everything.

A little crazy, but it's fun.

Amazing.

For me, being a makeup artist, it's

not, you know, just the profession or just

something I do it's a privilege as well

because when somebody, you know,

books you and then — my goal is not only

to just go, "Oh, alright..." I do the makeup and then I leave.

It's the attitude, it's the way that

that I talk to them, to the lady

or other girl or it's a bride.

And then just making them feel beautiful.

Not only with the products

that you use but just be the

art and being yourself and putting your

skills into place and making sure you

tell them how beautiful they are.

I love that.

You look beautiful.

Every woman has their own beauty.

With make up, without makeup...but when you are

a makeup artist and you get to be part

of that transformation when they look at

themselves before and after

it's definitely rewarding.

Beautiful!

One of my last questions is, if you could look back

and tell your 16-year-old self on her

way to America - anything - what would you tell her?

Oh wow.

You know what? I don't think that would tell

myself anything different.

I am so blessed and I'm so grateful that my

parents really raised me on good

principles and values and I carry that

with me, you know being able to

build with my husband even by myself

with all the things I've accomplished in

my professional career you know the

immigration field, as well as a makeup

artist and now just as a wife, so I

think, you know, I'm pretty satisfied.

There's always room for growth but I

think the foundation that I was given at

home, I really I don't think that I would say anything different.

That's amazing.

Events Plus Plugin For Unity3D - Duration: 6:04.

Events Plus is a Unity plugin designed to replace the UnityEvents system.

Built around the same concept, it includes dozens of additional features as well as better performance.

In this video, I will be going over basic usage of Events Plus using a premade scene and scripts.

One of the most common types of interactions happens from whenever an object collides with another.

Let's say I want to tell the game to spawn more coins whenever the player, this guy here, touches this green cube.

To do this, I want to start off by creating a simple "Trigger" script and attach it to the green cube.

Inside of this script file, I want to then start adding some special code to expose a custom event

inside of the inspector as well as fire that event off whenever it is touched.

This process is similar to UnityEvents.

I start off by using the "EventsPlus" namespace, as well as adding in the "OnTriggerEnter" function found in MonoBehaviours.

Now I will add the actual event object.

In Events Plus, I call this a "Publisher" which acts and behaves similar to traditional "UnityEvents."

I will call this one "onHit."

This "Publisher" variable will now show up in the inspector and will execute whenever its "publish" function is called.

This is the same as UnityEvent's "Invoke" function.

I will go ahead and set this up in the OnTriggerEnter function as well as ensure it is properly initialized inside of the Start function.

It's also good practice to call the "clear" function inside of MonoBehaviour's OnDestroy.

Okay, with that done, back inside of Unity, you will now see the "onHit" variable exposed and ready to be setup.

One of the cool features about Events Plus is that Publishers act as reorderable lists that can be expanded and minimized.

Now I will add a call to tell my game script to spawn more coins.

I simply click the add button, which will give me an empty field that I can then drag my game script object into.

Using this drop-down, I will be able to select specific components.

By default, the GameObject will be selected, which means I will need to select the game script.

This will generate a new drop-down list of accessible variables and functions to the right.

Unlike traditional UnityEvents, I have a lot more control and useful options available to me.

Better filtering will be made available in future versions.

But for now, I'm going to just find and select the "spawnCoins" function.

Now let's test it inside playmode.

It works!

Coins are now properly spawning whenever I touch the green cube.

In this next part, I'm going to go over how to get those spawned coins to properly destroy themselves as well as add to the game score when the player touches them.

In game development, spawned objects typically present a unique challenge when it comes to hooking up events.

Usually this results in messy code and difficulty in debugging.

Events Plus removes this challenge through a special "Subscription" system that automatically hooks events up.

I'm going to start by reusing the same Trigger script I made before and applying it to the coin prefab.

Right now, I'm going to simply call the "die" function inside of the coin script so the coin will properly go away when touched.

One thing you may have already noticed is a "channel" input on the "onHit" event.

This number can be used in Events Plus to let listening objects, called "Subscribers," to automatically register themselves to an event.

Ideally I will have my game script listen to the "onHit" event and call an "addScore" function each time it is fired.

With that being said, I'm going to set the channel to 123 and apply the prefab.

But, my game script still does not have a Subscriber variable to listen to the "onHit" event.

So, I will open it up and add it.

Just like before, I use the "EventsPlus" namespace.

I will now add a Subscriber variable that I'll just call "subscriber."

Like Publisher variables, I will need to initialize my "subscriber" inside of the Start function.

Just to be memory safe, I will also call the Subscriber's "clear" function inside of the script's OnDestroy.

That's actually all for this script.

Back inside of Unity, you will now see the "subscriber" variable in the inspector.

This can now be setup just like the "onHit" variable from earlier.

I will add a call to the "addScore" function which will then show a "channels" drop-down list.

This is used to have "addScore" only be called whenever a Publisher with a matching channel number is fired.

Inside of the "channels" list, I will add "123" to match the number set in the coin prefab.

And now, when I press play, you can see the coins properly disappear and correctly increment the player's score.
