Hi Amemiya-san!! It's been a long time!
Do you have a minute?
Did you win any awards here at TAS this year?
My 29 year old RX7 FC won this year!
Can you show me the car please?
This car is a 1989 Mazda RX7 FC.
It has a 3 rotor engine.
3 rotors??
It is an NA 3 rotor engine.
It also has a 6 speed manual transmission.
Congratulations on the award!
Thank you!
Your Mazda Chantez won last year...
Do you still have that car?
Yes, I had it out at the track recently.
I'm gonna take it to a show in Okinawa too soon.
It is really popular.
That car is really cool.
The overfenders you put on it were awesome.
I did the same feel for this car.
I see the similarities.
It's very nice and with 3 rotors too!
In America there were non-turbo versions of this car but not in Japan.
That's right.
This one is a NA I built.
Is this an early FC?
It's a 1989 so its fairly early.
They still built these for a couple more years after...
You look younger every year!
I'm 79!
You look good!
I'm working hard!
That's awesome!
Tell me about this RX8.
We made this a 2 door RX8.
You closed off the back half door?
Yes...
The back doesn't open anymore.
We made the front like an RX7 FD on this car.
That's cool!
A 2 door RX8 with an RX7 front end!
I love it!
Is this a customer's car?
Yes.
I'm the owner of this car...
You own this car?
Yes.
It is so cool!
Amemiya-san just told me all about it.
You have an awesome car!
I don't know much about RX8 but the RX7 front looks awesome.
and the 2 door coupe look is cool too!
I wasn't really an RX8 fan until today!
Me too...
But this RX8 is very cool!
Thanks!
These RX7 mirrors are nicer than the RX8 factory mirrors.
Nice.
500 HP?
Yes.
6 speed manual?
No, 5 speed!
Can't use a 6 speed in a RX8.
The torque would rip it apart.
I didn't know that.
How does a RX8 drive compared to an RX7?
What do you think are the biggest differences?
Hmmm....
Difficult question?
You always talk about how balanced the RX7 FD is...
When I first heard you say that, I went back to America and bought my first RX7 ever!
How was it?
Awesome!
It's even more fun if you tune it!
Mine was fairly stock.
It's great to see old cars along with newer ones too.
The old ones are popular!
Are there a lot of FCs left in Japan?
No, very few...
In America there is a lot, right?
Yes.
I'm very happy to see you again!
The world famous RE Amemiya!
Thank you very much!
