Norwegian Cruise Line on Thursday will take delivery of Norwegian Joy,
one of the 10 biggest cruise ships ever built.
Measuring 167,725 tons and holding 3,883 passengers,
it's the line's first vessel custom-designed for the Chinese market.
With an eye to the Chinese market,
Norwegian Joy's top deck features a tranquil,
park-like space at its center in lieu of a more traditional pool area.
The park-like area at the center of Norwegian Joy's top deck offers a zen garden vibe with faux grass and trees.
A yet-to-be-filled pool also is an element of the garden-like top deck area
at the center of Norwegian Joy.
Tai chi and yoga will be among the activities offered in the wide expanse
of faux grass at the top of Norwegian Joy.
Chaise lounges also will be added in this area.
Among deck-top amusements on Norwegian Joy is Aqua Racer,
an inner tube slide that twists and turns for 360 feet.
Aqua Racer is designed for either one or two riders at a time.
Norwegian Joy's top deck also features the high-speed Double Aqua Loop,
a free-fall slide that includes loops that extend over the side of the ship.
Two side-by-side hot tubs can be found on Norwegian Joy's main top deck area
just steps away from the Aqua Racer slide.
Signage next to the pool on Norwegian Joy's top deck is in Chinese as well as English.
Among groundbreaking features on Norwegian Joy is the first race track at sea.
Spreading over two decks,
the race track on Norwegian Joy is designed for one-person go carts
that can operate at speeds of nearly 20 miles per hour.
The finish line for the race track on Norwegian Joy is located on the lower of its two levels.
Another amusement atop Norwegian Joy is an open-air laser tag course.
Like sister ship Norwegian Escape,
Norwegian Joy features three interior decks (6, 7 and 8) filled with restaurants,
bars and casino spaces that are connected by a soaring atrium-like space.
In a nod to the interests of Chinese travelers,
an unusually large percentage of Norwegian Joy's three public decks are devoted to casino space.
Nearly all of Deck 7, shown here, is filled with slot machines and other casino games.
Casino areas on Deck 7 include a nook devoted to such table games as baccarat.

Also on Deck 7 of Norwegian Joy,
among the casino games, is the Skyline Bar.
One of its walls is lined with a faux skyline view.
An additional, private casino area for high rollers is located on Deck 6 of Norwegian Joy.

Taste caters to the Chinese market with a menu that is dominated by Chinese cuisine.
Some dishes have Korean and Japanese accents.
Across from Taste is Savor,
another included-in-the-fare restaurant that will serve Chinese cuisine.
Roughly 70% of dishes served on the ship will involve Chinese cuisine.
Norwegian Joy will offer Chinese travelers a taste of classic American comfort food
including burgers and meat loaf at the American Diner.
Located at the top of Norwegian Joy on Deck 16,
the American Diner features seating built into pieces of a classic Ford Mustang.
Norwegian Joy has several restaurants that will be familiar to Norwegian Cruise Line regulars,
including a Cagney's Steakhouse, located on Deck 8.
New on Norwegian Joy is Neptune's,
an extra-charge seafood eatery that has a buffet of fresh seafood as well as a la carte items.
It's located on Deck 8 across from Cagney's Steakhouse in a space
that is a churrascaria restaurant on sister ship Norwegian Escape.
Prime Meridian is a bar on Norwegian Joy located between Cagney's Steakhouse and Neptune's.
The list of restaurants on Norwegian Joy include Norwegian's signature Italian eatery, La Cucina.
The soaring Manhattan Room on Norwegian Joy serves Chinese cuisine as well as Western-style dishes.
The space differs from venues of the same name on Norwegian's last
three ships in that it does not have a stage for live entertainment.
Norwegian Cruise Line's signature French restaurant, Le Bistro,
can be found on Deck 8 of Norwegian Joy.
As on other Norwegian ships,
the Le Bistro restaurant on Norwegian Joy serves fine French cuisine.
Norwegian Joy also is home to a branch of Food Republic,
an eatery that first debuted in 2015 on sister ship Norwegian Escape.
The Food Republic outlet on Norwegian Joy will serve an eclectic menu
that draws inspiration from the flavors of Japan as well as other destinations such as Peru.
The offerings will include an extensive sushi selection.
The Noodle Bar will serve Asian-style noodles and dim sum.
The Noodle Bar serves hand-pulled Chinese noodles in a casual setting.
Among the attractions on Norwegian Joy that are aimed at Chinese travelers is an area full of karaoke rooms.
Located on Deck 6 near the ship's atrium,
Norwegian Joy's karaoke area has eight private karaoke rooms.
Karaoke rooms on Norwegian Joy have flat-screen video screens
and seating for more than half a dozen people.
Another new outlet on Norwegian Joy is The Grand Tea Room.
Located on Deck 8 of Norwegian Joy,
the Grand Tea Room occupies a space that is a pub on sister ship Norwegian Escape.
The Grand Tea Room caters to Chinese travelers with traditional Chinese tea service.
The Joy Team Room, located near the center of the ship on Deck 7,
is another outlet for tea.
The Joy Team Room offers a contemporary, Asian-influenced decor.
It's located in part of the space that houses the O'Sheehan's pub on sister ship Norwegian Escape.

Deck 8 on Norwegian Joy features a wine bar called Le Cave.

Nikon and Canon brand cameras and equipment in addition to passenger photos.

The Supper Club is a combination dining and entertainment venue on Norwegian Joy.

Among the more unusual attractions on Norwegian Joy is the Galaxy Pavilion,
which is home to virtual reality experiences,
simulator rides and hover craft bumper cars.
An authentic Formula One race car has been converted into a racing simulator
for the Galaxy Pavilion on Norwegian Joy.
A hang-gliding simulator in the Galaxy Pavilion offers the chance to virtually soar over mountains and oceans.
The majority of Norwegian Joy's 1,925 cabins are Balcony Staterooms.
They are similar in design to the Balcony Staterooms
found on Norwegian's recently unveiled Norwegian Escape.

Glasses in Norwegian Joy cabins feature the line's name in Chinese characters as well as English.
The most spacious and luxurious of Norwegian Joy's accommodations
are its two The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suites.
Each measures 1,458 square feet and feature a large living room with dining area.
Each of The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suites features a foyer that leads into the living and dining area.
The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suites have a master bedroom facing a window overlooking the owner.
The complex can accommodate up to six people.
Adjacent to the master bedroom in each of The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suites
is a master bathroom that features a vanity with double sinks.
The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suites master bathrooms also have large tubs
as well as separate showers with views of the ocean.

Norwegian Joy features a new-for-the-line class of Concierge cabins
that come with access to a private Concierge Lounge.
Here, a Concierge Suite.
Concierge Suite bathrooms are bigger than the bathrooms in standard cabins and feature tubs
that double as showers.
Located at the front of Norwegian Joy,
overlooking the bow, is the Concierge Lounge.
It's open exclusively to passengers staying in Concierge Class cabins.
The wide range of Asian dining options on Norwegian Joy include Teppanyaki,
a Japanese hibachi eatery where chefs cook at the table.
It's located on Deck 6 across from the high-roller casino.
Just behind Teppanyaki is Sakura & Hibiscus, an Asian hot pot restaurant.
Norwegian Joy features a wide range of original art.
The massive fixture in Norwegian Joy's central atrium area is made from Swarovski crystal.
