White House turns conservative media reception into on-the-record briefing

President Donald Trump welcomed conservative media to a reception on Monday night, turning

the evening into an impromptu on-the-record briefing, according to multiple people in

attendance.

Around 50 attendees from the likes of Breitbart, the Washington Free Beacon, Daily Caller,

Christian Broadcast Network, Catholic-focused The Eternal Word Television Network, as well

conservative radio hosts like Laura Ingraham, Larry O'Connor and John Fredericks mingled

with senior administration officials and the president over light snacks, fruit and candy

in the White House's Roosevelt room.

Nearly the entire communications staff were in attendance in addition to Commerce Secretary

Wilbur Ross, chief of staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Stephen Bannon, senior adviser

Jared Kushner, National Security Council spokesperson Michael Anton and Deputy National Security

Adviser K.T.

McFarland.

After about 30 minutes, the president came in and, standing in the corner of the room,

began to take questions from the assembled press, later turning the event on the record.

Trump took a variety of questions on infrastructure, the border wall, Syria, China and taxes, according

to the attendees, several of whom tweeted

out the answers.

Trump holds calls with leaders of China, Japan

President Donald Trump held separate telephone conversations Monday with Chinese President

Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, continuing to discuss the threat posed

by the regime of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, which has ramped up military provocations

in recent weeks.

The White House, which typically releases readouts of phone calls between the president

and foreign leaders, had not yet done so as of early Monday morning.

China's state-run television network reported Monday local time that Xi called on the U.S.

to exercise restraint in dealing with North Korea rather than exacerbating already strained

tensions.

He also reportedly told Trump that China opposes any activity that goes against the United

Nations Security Council, on which both the Chinese and U.S. governments hold veto power.

Spicer White House isn't setting 'artificial deadline' for Obamacare repeal bill - Duration: 14:12.

Spicer: White House isn't setting 'artificial deadline' for Obamacare repeal bill

Press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday that the White House's priority on legislation

to repeal and replace Obamacare is to "get it done right" instead of rushing a bill

through in order to meet a created deadline or claim a legislative victory.

The patience urged by Spicer from the briefing room podium Monday marked a departure from

White House efforts last week to reintroduce real-and-replace legislation this week, hoping

to quickly shepherd the legislation to President Donald Trump's desk before his benchmark

100th day in office.

A successful vote on the legislation would give the president a win early on his presidency,

which thus far has been marked most notably by the failure of White House-backed legislation

last month.

"I think that whenever the speaker and the leadership over in the House tell us that

they feel confident that they have the votes, then we would encourage them to move forward,"

Spicer said.

"We have been very clear from here and I think the president has been clear in his

comments that our goal is to get it done and get it done right and to get it done to make

sure that we

have

the votes."

Baby Dolphin Meets 'Spy Nautilus' - Duration: 2:27.

These are nautilus – alien creatures from the deep abyss.

But these are organisms of a very special kind…for their eyes are state of the art

cameras.

Spy Nautilus soon meets the long probing nose that gives these dolphins their name.

Bottlenose dolphins have excellent eyesight, but they also have another way to see…

They can beam sound waves from their forehead.

And use the returning echoes to create a picture in sound.

This sonar penetrates like an X-ray.

There's nothing to eat in here!

The dolphins are so completely at ease with Spy Nautilus, a mother is happy to reveal

her own precious secret.

Her newborn baby, just 5 days old.

He still bears wrinkles from his time curled up in the womb.

His mother can stay down for fifteen minutes, but he must breathe every two.

So, for his first few weeks of life, she makes sure he stays about 10 feet from the surface.

He's been born into an extended family made up of aunts and other females.

Each dolphin has its own unique signature whistle that it uses just like a name.

The baby will learn these whistles and soon recognize each and every dolphin.

happy first day of summer guys it is

adventure to get to Iceland so seriously

Ben they're even choice on the quinoa

front this is exciting so one of these

each this is now my favourite shop

probably just got really overexcited a

bottle with a crap I don't know we did

buy some vegetables though select

exciting and I think ingmar's are going

to have to eat soup because I have

ingredients to actually make some yummy

veggie soup yes hey guys so it is

Tuesday and don't think that I've

actually blogged very much this week so

really sorry about that and I really

have an excuse

yes I guess we've just been preoccupied

so it is pretty as we say in Scotland

Greek day it is raining in Foveon yuck

but we are stuck in I'm doing some

sewing projects for some of my friends

who recently had babies for are about to

have babies I have a whole load of

friends who are currently pregnant and

cousins and they are due around about

when we're getting married so I'm just

gonna kind of get organized right now

with present and make a whole lot of

stuff so that I'm ready to send out

Ingemar is off work at the moment

because he's pulled a muscle in his back

and so he is currently fighting boredom

lying on the living room floor and going

through all of Netflix

I think he's watched anything

zombie-related he even watched a

Bollywood movie yesterday and is now

onto some enemy I think he's just gone

through all the places where I've lived

before but anyway I will take you

through and show you what I'm working on

on the sewing machine so we have angle

right down here not focused there you go

so far I have a couple of cushions that

I have and some cute elephants and

animal patterns and in some stars and

then I've got a whole load of bunting

that I need to get some ribbon for and

sew that up

so yeah the moment baby boys so I need

to move on to the girl options

and since for any girls are born

I am currently sat outside a

hairdressers a Polish butcher sausage

shop and a bakery and I'm in a compote

car car won't start

I have no idea what's wrong with it and

I'm quite far from home and Ingemar

can't really come and get me because

well he has a contact back so I have no

idea what I'm doing um

his sister finishes work soon so I'm

hoping that she will be able to come

down and help me but at least is parked

in the milky spot so I can just leave it

here but this is the first time this has

happened to me in my driving career

expected

all right again yeah nope

it's not a happy Sonia I really just

have had enough of driving in this

country it happens in threes so on

Sunday night I had to do an emergency

stop on a roundabout because someone

just spilled out at the junction or at

the entrance to the rain debate as I was

coming round well yesterday I was going

up tank my sisters there was a car

accident because there's a t-junction

someone just pulled out and the entire

front of their car was just removed and

the police got there really quickly and

managed to clear the scene then everyone

was okay but then I ended up we were

diverted and I got totally lost and then

today I drove down the Main Street to

the pool and they got to the entrance of

the pool and it was cut off because they

were doing rod works but they hadn't put

any diversions or signs in place just

nonsense like I'd say I'm gonna do a

video on driving in mouseland

I should just fix a camera to the

dashboard and show you guys what it's

like me in the car are not on speaking

terms right now because I just had to

get a jump start from someone and which

I think I've managed to sort of sneak a

little film of because I don't know why

even did it anyway and so I've managed

to drive home and park up but there is a

cable that's worse like completely

broken off I don't even know what it's

for because it's all the way through it

card sorry that was like my sister just

checking them ok so what I was going to

say is that I had to ask 5 people before

I actually got a jump start which was

kind of quite surprising to me not

because they weren't willing to help

there was one person who said that he

was just too busy and but three other

people had electric cars and that's not

really a common thing I would've thought

for three or five people to have an

electric car well just putting some

thanks out there to that person who

actually helped me didn't have an

electric car we

and I asked the garage lovely car that

I'm currently not seeking - he's getting

mended just got home and there's another

person who's broken down so maybe it's

just a thing at the woman ah kind of too

much today

there's too much where is this guy hmm

my polar bear

First Trump lower court nominee coasts through Senate hearing - Duration: 15:15.

First Trump lower-court nominee coasts through Senate hearing

President Donald Trump's first and, so far, only nominee to federal district or appeals

courts sailed through his confirmation hearing Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The session, which wrapped up in less than 90 minutes, lacked the tension of the same

panel's multi-day hearing on Trump's only other judicial nominee: Supreme Court pick

Neil Gorsuch, who was confirmed and sworn in earlier this month.

But Amul Thapar, currently a U.S. District Court judge in Covington, Ky., who Trump has

nominated to a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, was put on the spot

over the president's recent berating of federal judges whose rulings he dislikes.

Trump in February lashed out at what he called a "so-called judge" who struck down his executive

order restricting travel for people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

On Wednesday, he claimed a ruling against an immigration action was a result of "judge

shopping," and he accused the wrong court of issuing the ruling.

Asked by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) to address the denigration of federal judges,

Thapar evaded any direct comment on Trump's rhetoric, but he said it was unlikely to have

much impact because federal judges are thick-skinned and have lifelong tenure.

Do My Own Lawn Care - How to Get Rid of Poa Annua - E14 - Duration: 7:18.

It's been awhile since that's made an appearance!

Upon first inspection, it looks like we're making some really good progress and we've

got some good green up going on. But looks are deceiving and we've got a problem.

Now I've got to admit, when I first started seeing it, I thought man this is awesome!

The yard's starting to green up, I'm starting to see some results! YES! Looking good. But

upon further inspection, things started to look a little suspicious.

As it started to get thicker and taller, these little white seed heads cane with it. And

I knew it wasn't Bermuda but I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. So I took some really

high res pictures on my phone, sent it over to the customer service staff, to see if they

could identify it for me, and they did. And it is Poa Annua!

We also got a lot of bare spots but we're not talking about that. We're talking about

Poa Annua. Also known as Annual Bluegrass.

Not only are the looks deceiving of it, the name's deceiving as well. It's not grass,

it's an annual weed that is pretty common in most yards. And you can also find it scattered

through some gardens.

It's a pretty difficult weed to control because it can produce hundreds upon hundreds of seeds

in one season. And those seeds, they can lay dormant for several years and not sprout up

right away.

Now in talking with the customer service staff the identifying characteristics of Poa Annua

grass, is that it's a tall tasseled seed stalk that will typically stand above the rest of

the lawn and becomes visible in late spring or early summer.

Now while the seed stalk can be pretty tall, if you cut it short, it can still produce

seeds.

Now Poa Annua grass in the yard can be a problem. It can die in hot weather and it will leave

very unsightly nasty looking brown spots throughout the yard.

It also thrives in cool weather. When most grasses and lawns start to go dormant, that's

when it chooses to invade.

Which is why putting down a pre-emergent in the fall is so important. If you'll remember

I missed my boat for putting down a fall pre-emergent application and that's why I've got this lovely

beautiful problem on my hands.

Poa Annua germinates in late fall and early spring, so our timing of trying to control

it is pretty critical.

Now most people who know what they're doing...

That's most certainly not me!

...will apply a pre-emergent in early fall and again in early spring to really gain control

of Poa Annua. That will help prevent the seeds from sprouting, getting into the soil and

really germinating and taking over your yard.

But Poa Annua seeds are pretty tough. They can survive without germinating for many many

seasons. By using the early fall and early spring pre-emergent applications, that will

help control Poa Annua over time.

But keep in mind, you're going to have retreat the yard many seasons to completely get rid

of it in the lawn. There are, however, specialty herbicide products that will help kick its

butt in the here and now. And that's exactly what I'm going to do.

Again, ignore all the bare spots but the question we have to ask is to cut or not to cut it

down and then spray. And the answer is, according to our customer service staff, don't cut the

weeds before spraying them. Reason being, they're thriving and they're growing right

now. And if you scalp it down and cut it, you'll stress it out and it will be less likely

that the herbicide that we're putting down will be absorbed into the weed.

Now the product I'm going to be using is a WG. A water soluble granule. And all that

means is, its in granule form and when you add it to your tank and put water in there,

that granule breaks down and dissolves and gives you a finished solution.

Now the herbicide that I'm using is an herbicide control for certain broad leaf, sedge, and

grassy weeds in turf. I'll leave a link in the description below so you can click over

and read more about it. But, we're mixed up! We're ready to go! Let's do the dance!

Meaning the herbicide, weed control dance. Well you know what I meant. Let's do it!

So there we go! That's how to get rid of Poa Annua Annual Bluegrass in the yard. Or at

least start to try. It's a tough weed to control and kick out of the yard and this isn't the

first bout I'm going to have with it.

But just like everything else we've done so far, it's an on going process and I don't

mind putting in the work.

Per the label and our customer service staff, I've got to let that sit for two to three

days and go to work on that Poa Annua before I go to mow it down.

To be on the safe side and make sure this stuff really goes to work, and so long as

my H O A is on board with it and doesn't give me a nice little letter in the mail, I'll

probably wait about a week from now to get the mower out and cut it down.

Just like the moss in the back, this is only the beginning of controlling the Poa Annua

in the yard.

I hope you found that helpful and we answered some questions when it comes to Poa Annua,

if you have any more, leave them in the comments section below, shoot the customer service

staff an email, or pick up the phone and give them a ring.

Make sure to subscribe to the channel by clicking this button. Click this playlist to see everything

we've done so far in the yard.

Trump advisers headed to Hill to talk tax reform

President Donald Trump's top economic advisers will meet Tuesday evening with congressional

leaders to discuss rewriting the tax code.

One day before what Trump has promised will be a "big announcement" on tax reform,

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn will meet

with House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky).

Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady

(R-Texas) are also slated to attend, according to a Ryan spokeswoman.

Wednesday's announcement is expected to produce relatively few details about the administration's

coming tax reform plan.

But Mnuchin said Monday, "It is important that we're talking about it, and we are

going to move forward."

Trump blasts recent approval rating polls as 'fake news' - Duration: 14:12.

Trump blasts recent approval rating polls as 'fake news'

Even though they contained "some very positive info," President Donald Trump on Monday

decried a set of polls released over the weekend as "fake news" conducted by media outlets

whose polling about last year's presidential election had proven incorrect.

"The two fake news polls released yesterday, ABC & NBC, while containing some very positive

info, were totally wrong in General E. Watch!" Trump wrote on Twitter Monday morning.

Topline numbers in both polls showed Trump with poor approval numbers: 54 percent of

those polled by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal said they disapproved of his performance

as president so far, while 53 percent said the same in the survey by ABC News and The

Washington Post.

Just 40 percent and 42 percent of respondents said they approve of his job performance thus

far, respectively.

Other figures from the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, including the share of respondents

who feel Trump is honest and trustworthy, those who feel he is effective and getting

things done, and those who feel he is changing the culture of Washington are all trending

downward relative to a survey released

in February.

Carson's God and bootstraps message fails to hearten housing advocates - Duration: 13:09.

Carson's God-and-bootstraps message fails to hearten housing advocates

God is Ben Carson's favorite subject.

Brain surgery is a close second.

Housing is somewhere further down the list.

"I was told that as a government leader, I really shouldn't talk about God.

But I have to tell you, it's part of who I am," Carson said last month, in one of his

first speeches as Housing and Urban Development secretary.Less than two months into the job,

Carson still holds forth on God and neurosurgery, but his views on housing policy remain largely

a mystery.

While he's making good on a promised listening tour to learn about the $48 billion agency

he now leads, he's done little public speaking about the urgent issue at hand — a lack

of affordable housing.

That's one reason why early excitement over his nomination has given way to bewilderment

and now frustration.

Every policy job at the agency remains vacant, and advocates who thought Carson's celebrity

would raise awareness of affordable housing have been disappointed.

President Donald Trump doused any remaining hope when he said he would slash HUD funding

by

13.2 percent.

Trump offers more tough talk against Canada on trade - Duration: 10:43.

Trump offers more tough talk against Canada on trade

President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued more tough talk against Canada, just a day after

his administration said it would impose a roughly 20 percent tariff on softwood lumber

imported from the country.

"Canada has made business for our dairy farmers in Wisconsin and other border states

very difficult.

We will not stand for this.

Watch!" Trump tweeted.

The president in recent days has been escalating his trade talk with Canada.

Speaking in Wisconsin last week, Trump promised to stand up for the state's dairy farmers,

and singled out Canada for doing "some very unfair things."

"What's happened to you is very, very unfair.

It's another typical one-sided deal against the United States, and it's not gonna be

happening for long," Trump said, promising to call Canada and "get the solution, not

just the answer" to what happened.

Trump didn't detail the "very unfair things" that Canada

is doing, but said he

read about them.

5 things to know about Trump's tax plan - Duration: 15:15.

5 things to know about Trump's tax plan

Though it broke little new ground, President Donald Trump's tax reform outline underscores

just how arduous a task overhauling the tax code could be for Republicans this year.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Gary Cohn, the director of the National Economic

Council, handed out a one-page overview of the plan Wednesday — and told reporters

that the administration had to fill in many of the key details that make overhauling the

tax code so difficult that it's happened only a handful of times over the last century.

Here are five things to know about the newest version of Trump's tax plan: What's in

it?

Trump released a couple tax plans during the campaign, with the most recent coming around

seven months ago.

Many of the details released Wednesday haven't changed since that September plan, including

proposals to cut the top tax rate for all businesses to 15 percent and to repeal the

estate tax and alternative minimum tax.

But some changes have been made, including a couple major ones.

Trump now proposes a so-called territorial tax system that shields offshore corporate

income from U.S. taxation, a key priority for corporate America.

The top tax rate on individuals is also slightly higher than in Trump's last plan, moving

to 35 percent from 33 percent, while tax incentives like the deduction for state and local taxes

would get the ax.

And the Trump team seeks to double the standard deduction claimed by most taxpayers, which

is still smaller than what the campaign sought in September.
