Whats up guys! How are you doing?

Welcome to another video, the third video, actually

And today we'll talk about... Game Design!

Of course, and if game design is the ideal course for you!

So let's do this!

Game design is the right choice for you if:

You are a badass artist!

like this, this one, not this one and this one

If you are a ninja coder and a real badass mathematician

Shit!

if you are a badass 3D artist

If you can do the mortal kombat Snape, some awesome orcs and a godamn freaking dragon

If not... Forget it!

Chill dude! Don't step back, none of that is true!

As you know from last video, I've chosen Game Design as my bachelors course

at a moment I was really confused and not sure about anything.

I had hundreds... Thousands of doubts

And well... I hope I'll make some stuff clearer for you!

My main doubts were: If I needed to be a badass artist

If had to know how to draw well

and if I needed to like maths, because I'm not sure if I told ya, I HATE MATHS!

And if you needed to know how to code, and therefore be some kind of Stephen Hawking

And none of that is needed!

Let's make this clear!

What happens is that in a game, in a game production and development

There are LOTS of people working on LOTS of different areas

Therefore, there's no need to restrict yourself to art or coding

These two, of course, are two of the main carreers in the videogame industries, but not the main or most important ones!

The thing is that there are loads of completly different carreers for you to follow

I'll just say some of them now

And you'll see that there are lots of things totally unrelated

I'll try to say them all without choking or something and you'll see how many paths there are

producer, sound design, creation director, developer, external producer, animator, level designer, game designer, scripter, graphic artist, lead developer, writer, tester and...

See what I mean? Lots of different paths!

And I'm sure I forgot loads of other paths too!

I just said the ones that popped in my head

Cz... Really, there are lots of things you can do in game development.

The main development areas are, indeed, linked to arts and coding

But thats not all a game needs! A game needs creative minds to bring the lore ideas, the script ideas, the mechanic ideas

All this stuff that's not related to art but we usually ignore when thinking about game design

We only think about the 3D modeling or only about coding and that's not all! It's much wider than that!

My biggest fear was really thinking that I had to be either an artist or a programmer and at the first day in college

I run into this dude who's one hell of an artist and I thought: "Hell, I'm way far behind"

However, dude, take it easy, there are lots of people who are not great artists nor mathematicians and follow a path that has nothing to do with any of that!

And this other paths are as rewarding as arts or coding

What I mean is that if you love video games, like the "behind the scenes" thing, like to see the magic that plays all the video game world.

Then, dude, you should do some extra research on game design and give it a shot!

Because it is really worth it.

Every once in a while, there comes along game that changes everything:

a game that redefines the genre and reminds us what video games are all about.

For me, that game was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo managed to take the Zelda franchise we all know and love

and create something completely different.

Breath of the Wild is an open world Zelda game,

and it's a triumph in every sense of the word.

Breath of the Wild harkens back to the original 1985 Zelda for NES.

That sense of magic and discovery is still there,

but looks completely different now.

Link and the mysterious lands of Hyrule look better than ever

thanks to stunning art direction that truly brings the world

and its many diverse inhabitants to life.

From the grassy plains of Hyrule Field,

to the sun-scorched earth of Eldin Volcano,

Breath of the Wild consistently amazed me with its varied landscapes

and sheer amount of things to do.

And speaking of things to do, there are quite a lot.

Breath of the Wild has a massive amount of land to explore.

Whether you spend your time diligently seeking out shrines,

hunting for Korok seeds,

or just wandering around,

the game rewards you for it.

There's always something to do, and something new to explore.

This is a world that truly feels alive.

It's a world that I want to discover.

And during your travels you'll inevitably find some baddie

that needs to be taught a lesson.

Thankfully, Breath of the Wild gives you a plethora of options for taking out enemies.

The combat has been completely redesigned.

It's fast, frantic, and every fight is different.

But more importantly, it's fun.

But fun doesn't mean easy.

Enemies can and absolutely will destroy you.

But that only makes your revenge that much sweeter.

I guess you could say I...

ROCKED HIS WORLD!

HAHA!

Breath of the Wild is without a doubt one of the greatest games I've ever played.

I've spent over 100 hours exploring this fantastic land and

I have no intention of slowing down.

With a crazy amount of places to go,

bad guys to kill,

and more secrets than you can shake a Master Sword at,

Breath of the Wild is a breath of fresh air.

and to answer some questions you might have.

Although I'm a little nervous about the questions,

I'll try my best at giving the answers.

[Q. Why were you wearing Cichol's costume on first appearance?] Oh, Cichol? Don't we feel somewhat similar?

To be honest...

(Usual Mabinogi Director's cosplay) I have a bit of a size

so that (Cichol) was the only costume that fit.

I think you guys might have had a hard time

if I wore something that showed my skin.

[Q. Where do you visit the most in Mabinogi?] It would be where most of you, Miletians would be at,

(lol not telling you what CH it is) Dunbarton is the place I go to.

We get much suprised very a lot.

[Q. What's the most memorable update?] We've been doing a lot of updates

Race Balncing and New Scenario Dungeon, Echo-stone system related stuff...

And....

I'm not sure if you guys remember,

the additional flying area updates...

There were quite a few (memorable).

BUT!!

The MOST memorable one would be

I'd say the Additional Flying Area Update for now.

[Q. You've been supportive of revamping existing systems?] Mabinogi's been serviced for a really long time now.

There were definitely situations

where a patch didn't fit the game or users feel uncomfortable

as various patches and new contents got updated.

That is why,

in order to service Mabinogi for a long time in the future,

there is a need for us revamp existing features.

So if there is a need,

we'll be more than happy to bring revamp updates.

And as of right now, we're still preparing revamp updates.

And the moment you've been waiting for...

(Advancement Update)

[Q. Why revamp Advancement?] Whether it be more combat or life skills,

in order to bring more fun to the players,

there was a need for a way to stimulate more growth.

To be honest, it's been ages since Advancement Update.

It was one of those things that died off.

You could only advance few skills.

And it's too hard...

When I was trying to advance,

Wow.. Dafuq..

We wanted to let more players

advance skills easily

and see their growth progress.

That's why we revamped the Advancement System.

[Q. So, how did Advancement get better?] First off, we amp'd up the skills.

More importantly, there's a TONNE of skills you can advance now.

Of course, as it's stronger,

you'll be seeing more fancy skills.

I think that when you advance a skill,

it's important to have fancy decorations, the things that show.

We worked on the details of visuals as well.

There's also an Advancement Badge you get on your skills window.

One more thing! The Advancement Exam,

can now be taken once a day!

And you can take the exam whenever you want.

Did I do good?

[Q. So what's good about Advancement? Enlighten us!] There are special rewards.

Firstly, when you advance a skill,

p.o.w.e.r.f.u.l. p.r.e.s.t.i.g.i.o.u.s. e.n.c.h.a.n.t.s.

would be helpful to you guys.

We configured it to help you guys out,

so you should definitely check them out in the game.

Moreover, additional accessories you get

give you special motions depending on your talent.

You can only customize Advanced skills

in Combo Cards.

You can only put Advanced Skills in any slot of a Combo Card.

[Q. We wanna know what's in your head.]

[Q. Isn't 'our-oong' taking up too much?] I meant I want more love from you, the players.

Well, I want to be praised.

I want to breath together with the players

and develop the game...

Sort of, that kind of expression.

[Q. You do seem sorry about the Weird series.] I'm fine, but some players might have

a bit of attitude towards this,

so I'm a little, just a little worried.

The show where I review games super quickly

so that you can spend more time gaming instead of listening to some nerd ramble on youtube

Today I'll be looking at Odyssey - The Next Generation Science Game

which is a puzzle game that teaches you about science

You heard that right, it's an educational game!

*Dora intensifies*

Well, maybe not like that, that was horrifying

Like you, I was skeptical at first

however after playing through Odyssey

I realised that if they had used this in class last time

I would have aced my science exam

In Odyssey, you play a rescuer

who must navigate an island in search of a stranded girl named Kai

In order to find her, you have to pick up pieces of her journal

and solve puzzles using clues from that journal

Her journal entries are filled with scientific facts

explaining stuff like how light works and how we learnt that the earth is not actually flat

And these are all written from the perspective of a child

So they are all really easy to understand

You might think that as an educational game

the puzzles will be easy

However, you'll be way wrong

The puzzles are quite challenging, but not in a frustrating way

They're very well-designed and they make you feel really clever when you solve them

The game is also insanely beautiful

The details of the island, Kai's journal entries, as well as the water in the ocean

they're all really nice to look at

My only complaint for Odyssey

is that the controls can be a little bit wonky at times

A couple of hours into the game

and I still haven't figured out the right sensitivity setting to use

Overall, if you're a fan of puzzle games

like The Witness

Give Odyssey a try

You'll get to solve some very well-designed puzzles

and learn a lot about science along the way
