Youtube daily was Jun 4 2017

Hi, BookTube, it's Sylwia, and I'm here with three more reviews. I picked up

Sophie Kinsella's Remember Me? Did it have adequate representation? No. I

don't think anything was represented well. I don't think there were any

discussions about diversity or anything that I find important. Did it perpetuate

healthy ideals? At the beginning I was so excited because the protagonist has

crooked teeth and she complains about her teeth not being social norms of

beauty standards but that was very quickly eradicated because she wakes up

from the coma that she's in and she has perfect teeth, so that was a huge

disappointment. I also thought that the emphasis on how important beauty and

image are was so problematic. And it contains cheating and normalizes

cheating which I hate. Did it teach me something or make me think? Well, yes, it

did make me think about how social norms can be problematic and how putting a lot

of emphasis on beauty can be problematic. What was the writing style like? At first

I was extremely engaged but then the story got very boring. I don't think that

has to do with the writing style. I think Sophie Kinsella has an easy writing style

but the plot was definitely boring for me. Are the characters now my all-time

favorites? Absolutely not and I especially want to say that Eric and the

protagonist's mom were totally unbelievable as characters. Was the plot

cleverly written? I thought it was so predictable. It's just like every other

bad-person-turns-good story and I mean that in a negative way. I usually enjoy

redemption arcs or redemption stories but this one was so boring and it

includes, like, embarrassment humor which I know Sophie Kinsella likes to write,

but I don't enjoy it. Did I enjoy reading it? I enjoyed the first 7/8 chapters when

I thought that this was going to be a romance between her and her husband but

when that turns out not to be the case I just hated the entire remainder of the

book. I think I gave it 1 star. Then I finally read The Martian which was

BookTube's favorite book for the longest time and I have to say I don't totally

understand why. Did it have adequate representation? Yes it did. For such a

very small cast, there are people of color, there are women and positions of

power. I thought that race (maybe even sexual orientation don't quote me on

that) but race and gender were handled well. Except that Mark Watney makes some

comments that are very "bro" offensive comments, I guess, so did it

perpetuate healthy ideals? Again, he makes some "bro" comments that I think are a

little unhealthy, but I understand that that's, like, part of his humor. I don't

really want to make excuses: I thought they were unacceptable,

but nothing like terribly offensive. Did it teach me something or make me think?

At the very end there appears to be, like, a cute moral, which I did appreciate, but

it didn't make me think throughout the book about that moral which makes it

feel kind of like a failure. What was the writing style like? So there are very

short chapters and the story very quickly gets to the point of things. It's

concise. But at the same time the book felt never-ending. I just felt like I was

going to be reading this forever. I wasn't bored but I just kind of felt

like "can we get to where we're going!?" and none of the conflicts made me feel any

sort of emotion. I thought that the movie handled conflict better. Are the

characters now my all-time favorites? No. Unlike everybody else, I don't think

Mark Watney is charming. I enjoyed him a lot more in the movie than I did in the

book. Was the plot cleverly written? I don't really think so. I think the plot

progressed in a very simple ABC fashion. It was the little details of how Mark

does the things that he does that were, I guess, interesting, but not that much. Did

I enjoy reading it? Not really. I also read Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. Did

it have adequate representation? This book is praised for being fat positive

because it has a fat protagonist who doesn't lose weight and does exist in

her fatness, however there's a lot of negative commentary about being fat from

everyone else around her, so how is that fat positive? I really didn't like it. Did

it perpetuate healthy ideals? I think it could have done a lot more and it failed.

It didn't reach its potential. Did it teach me something or make me think? No

it didn't. What was the writing style like? I

thought it was unengaging and there was a lot of unnecessary scenes that didn't

seem to make sense. This read almost like a television show in which the episodes

didn't line up one after the other. It was almost like following the same

protagonist in completely different timelines or just, like, putting her in

random scenarios. I thought that was very unskillful and I'm surprised

by how much hype this book has had. Are the characters now my all-time favorites?

Absolutely not. They're totally forgettable and some of

them don't make sense, for example she just kind of becomes best friends with a

famous model or actress and it just doesn't make sense for the story. Was the

plot cleverly written? Again, there's a lot of unnecessary information. There was

a lot of analysis of her and I think how she was growing up in her family, if I

remember that correctly. So maybe if you like family sagas you might enjoy this,

but I felt like it was a lot of buildup with very little reward. Did I enjoy

reading it? Absolutely not. I think I gave it 1 star. Come talk to me in the comments!

events I'd watch it on the TV with my family and then I go upstairs and I'd

write down everything and I come back down and like do stand-in for my parents

and like read a news report and I got into like my first job as at Sky News

and they got into that because I made a documentary which they bought off me and

I think you know I've always been I'm you know I'm a nosy person I love

needing people I'm sure like yourself and when I realized that I could make

that into a career I mean you know it with when were and super it must have

been tough along the way because you're talking about the beautiful times when

they bought it from you and you know you're keeping vivid memories yeah I'm

sure along the way you might have had tough times how did he find passion in

those times I mean working in media is tough sometimes i mean i was lucky that

i you know i got a job straight away a lot of people a lot of friends of mine

struggles because there's not many positions and you know i've covered a

cover from really you know hard things I was out living in Singapore working in

the bureau there when we had the typhoon in the Philippines and you know I had to

go over there and it was you know I've been in some really tough situations and

there have been times when you're judged or judged for what you say you're judged

for the way you look and I don't know I've always just tried to you know keep

my confidence and to try and like you know be treating

myself you know and you know everyone gets comment thrown at them and I think

if you take everything on board you'd never succeed you've just got to

try and keep your just keep a smile on your face really hearing sometimes when

it's tough the honesty you know you have to keep a smile yeah so what does

fashion mean to what is passion passion to me is my job is my passion you know

new single people by going learning having more experiences I mean we're

here in Dubai and you know I've been here for three days and I've held

workshops with the government with Abu Dhabi media meeting I've met hundreds of

interesting people and it's just so exciting like having new challenges I

Phil Collins reveals he's back on the booze — despite saying alcohol was killing him - Duration: 2:27.

Phil Collins reveals he's back on the booze — despite saying alcohol was killing him

PHIL Collins has revealed he is drinking again despite previously saying alcohol was killing him. The rock legend, 66, makes a comeback tonight as he begins his Not Dead Yet tour.

He insists he can now control his boozing and is capable of enjoying "a couple of glasses of wine". The Against All Odds singer said in a US interview: "I didn't drink for three years.

"I personally do not believe I was an alcoholic. I had a problem with alcohol.

I didn't have anything else to do, and I enjoyed it. "But when I had to stop because it was killing me, I stopped.

I had a problem with alcohol. I didn't have anything else to do. Phil was admitted to hospital in 2012 at the height of his boozing, prompting fears for his well-being.

He came out of retirement for a European tour, starting in Liverpool.

He has overcome health issues but is still blighted by back and hip problems which required surgery, preventing him from playing drums. But recent TV appearances have confirmed he is back on great form.

Looking back, the Genesis icon said he drank vodka to fill his boredom after retiring and splitting from his wife Orianne Cevey.

The pair have since reconciled. He said: "I kind of enjoyed not having to do anything — turn on some TV, watch some sports.

"Then you're turning on the TV a little earlier, having a glass of wine a little earlier. Then the wine becomes vodka, and then suddenly, you're killing yourself.   Phil Collins pulls out of appearance on Lorraine due to illness.

Stats Prove Just How Impressive Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson Was in the 2016/2017 Season - Duration: 2:52.

Stats Prove Just How Impressive Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson Was in the 2016/2017 Season

The dust is already settling on another Premier League season that saw Liverpool achieve their target of finishing inside the top four.

Jurgen Klopps team were able to overcome a poor spell of form and a run of injuries to secure Champions League qualification for August.

Whilst the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana received plenty of plaudits for their efforts throughout the campaign, the contribution of captain Jordan Henderson appears to have gone under the radar simply because he missed the last few months through injury.

Hendo had big boots to fill when he was announced as the new Liverpool captain two seasons ago, taking over from the legendary Steven Gerrard.

Whilst the England midfielder may have some way to go before he is talked about in the same breath as his predecessor, stats released by WhoScored. com suggest that his influence on the Liverpool team is already becoming crucial.

Despite only making 24 Premier League appearances throughout the campaign, Henderson topped a number of charts when it comes to midfielders who played over 2000 minutes of football.

Throughout the season, the 26-year-old was the busiest midfielder in Englands top-flight as he averaged 87. 4 passes per match - nearly one every minute.

Whilst Hendos distribution was up there with the best, his retention of the ball was also equally astonishing, as he was guilty of just 0. 4 unsuccessful touches in each match and was only dispossessed by an opponent 0.

5 times per 90 minutes.

Lets be honest, if that was Xavi or Iniesta pulling off those stats, the world would be raving about them, so its fair to say the Liverpool skipper deserves more recognition for his performances and should be considered one of the best midfielders in the league.
