The 24-year-old and her male model baby-daddy are eager to create a stable home for the five-month-old tot, and officially naming him McConnell is all part of their plan. Instagram Jeremy McConnell wants the same surname as his adorable son Caben Albi.
But it seems Stephs family arent convinced that giving the baby his dads surname is enough to undo the pain and hurt he caused by denying and staying away from the fragile star during the entirety of her pregnancy.
A source close to the couple told The Sun online: Understandably Stephs family are wary of Jeremy coming back in to her life and making big decisions.
Yes Caben-Albi is his biological child, but from the moment he was conceived until he was born he was Baby Davis. On every hospital visit, scan and document he was called Baby Davis – to Stephs family, this is his identity.
Theyve not forgotten she went through that pregnancy on her own, there was no help or support for Steph from Jeremy, just drama.
TWITTER Steph is a devoted mum to baby Caben-Albi. Thats one of the reasons why Caben-Albi suddenly becoming Baby McConnell doesnt sit right with them at the moment.
Jeremy still has to prove himself as a good dad to Caben and good partner to Stephanie.
Tensions over the babys surname are running so high that Steph and her mum – who was by her side during her pregnancy and the birth – are currently estranged.
Pauline unfollowed Steph on Twitter on 26 May, with Steph following suit days later on 30 May.
At the time it wasnt clear what had driven the lookalike duo apart, despite reports that Pauline was finding it hard to welcome Jeremy, 27, back in to the family after his poor treatment of her beloved daughter.
