hey guys Michael here again
today I will show you how I'm processing my images in Lightroom.
and you will be surprised on how much time you can save if you use my method
so let's dive right into it.
we have Lightroom open and we have ten
sample images in here so let's go and pick this one.
so the way I'm doing it is without touching the keyboard
and you will be wondering how is that even possible?
is it magic is it something like that?
no it's just a MIDI controller.
I'm using a MIDI controller to edit my images.
let me show you how I'm doing it
I have 16 buttons on this MIDI controller
and each button is assigned to a specific function in Lightroom
so for example this one is exposure.
As I turn this one the exposure will change.
This one is contrast.
So if I want to change the contrast.
I just need to turn this knob until the contrast looks the way I want it
So let's go right here.
This one is used - at least in my case -
it's used for clarity so if I want to
increase the clarity I can use this one.
So this one I use for saturation.
So I remove the saturation
from this image and this one these two
this one is for the shadows this one is
for the blacks and this one is for the
shadows so let me reduce turn down the
shadows
and turn down the blacks maybe just a
little bit too much maybe like this and
that's it let's go to another image
let's use which one do we take we take
this one
this one is a little too blue so this
one this button here you see now the
parameters are set to zero this one is
for white belt and as you can see it's
all the way to the left so I need to
make this image warmer maybe not that
much maybe here I need to add contrast
some clarity and maybe even some
exposure maybe some brightness yes like
this so with this method you are 100
times faster then with your mouse
because you don't have to look for this
slider and hit it every time so this is
a much a really big time-saver and I
also use this one to navigate through my
library so I use this button to go to
the next image and I use these two
buttons to adjust my ratings so if I
want to increase the star rating I push
this one for decreasing I push this one
next image and previous image so let's
try and edit this one I think this will
need much more contrast and I think this
one will work out in black and white
much nicer little brighter some clarity
now let's get the highlights in this
area down a little bit so this is also
done pretty easy
maybe the
the shadows a little yeah I think that's
it so by using a MIDI controller you get
a much more nice a much nicer feeling on
how to how to edit your images and you
don't spend that much time on looking at
your screen and using the Lightroom
interface so what you want to do is you
want to look at your image and you want
to feel how much you edit the image and
you can also get a representation of
your adjustment if you look at the
controller so the controller I got here
is the MIDI fighter Twista the MIDI
fighter twister has 16 buttons and the
buttons can also be pushed so and show
you the push function in one example if
you have to go to this one I use this
one for exposure so if I mess up the
exposure I can just push this one and
the exposure gets back to where it was
and same is true for white diamonds if I
go way to warm on this one I can just
push the button and the white bounces
back to the original setting so this is
why I chose this controller and another
thing is it's really small and you can
carry it around so if you need to do
post-production on the road somewhere or
you want to use it in your office and at
home then I recommend get a small media
controller and another thing I like
about this one is that the buttons don't
have an end point so you can turn them
and you don't have to manually reset
them to the zero point if you have a
comity controller with the slider and
you always have to go back to the middle
if you don't want to have any
adjustments so this is something that
doesn't happen with this controller so
the way this works I think you're pretty
much wondering how it's going to work
because Lightroom doesn't support any
MIDI controllers officially so what you
need to do is you get you need to
get the correct plug-in and the plug-in
I'm I'm using here is the MIDI - LR
plug-in and in this plug-in you need to
configure every single button on your
MIDI controller so for example as I told
you exposure set to this one let's try
another one
contrast is right here so I can I can
really see in this in this interface
from the plug-in which function is set
to which button and I will post a link
to my setup in the description so if you
need a good starting point for for using
your MIDI controller you can use my
setup but I really recommend that you do
your own setup because it's much easier
to remember which button is used for
which function if you set it up for
yourself so I hope you enjoyed this
video and it will help you speed up your
workflow in lightroom and if you have
any questions let me know in the
comments hit subscribe and see you next
time bye
