4 Free SEO Website Checkers That Don't Suck - 2017 - Duration: 7:53.
In this video, I'm going to show you four free SEO checkers that don't suck. I've tested
over 20 of them personally so you don't have to. I actually used one of these SEO tools
just the other day for an enterprise client of ours to identify a nasty canonicalization
issue they had going on. Some of these tools, I'm pretty confident that you probably haven't
heard of, so let's dive in and check them out. We need a website to test these tools
on, so I'm at Blues City Deli here in St. Louis, it is a bit of a sandwich institution
locally. Don't believe me? Check out the reviews [laughter], they're pretty amazing. "I eat
it in the street," said this guy. "It's so good, I like to watch people eat it," said
another guy. Seriously, the reviews are amazing, the lines-- there's always a line out the
door, don't let that discourage you if you're ever here, it moves fast, check it out.
This brings us to our first tool. I have put Blues City Deli into Moz Local. Now, this
is a paid tool, but they have this free version that you can use, and it's pretty comprehensive.
So, Blues City Deli is in good shape, overall. You can see they have a 78% score, they're
looking pretty good. Now, what you'll notice is a few of these listings are incomplete.
You can click on these and some of them will take you directly to the website to fill out
your listings, and what you're doing there is you're filling out NAP, name, address,
phone number. That's a big thing for local businesses. You want a consistent name, address,
and phone number in all the different networks and directories, and you want as many of these
citations as possible. So Moz is highlighting where you have it right and where you're missing
some of these, and you can click right through. And you don't have to get the paid tool or
anything to do that, it will send you right to them. Also shows you where some of your
data's incomplete, either these are missing or, here, you have an opportunity to add five
more photos and a bunch of more categories as well. But the key, again, is to make sure
that your NAP is correct, like, if you had an address 2438 McNear, but they forgot Avenue,
you want to clean that up. Now, you can do it all manually, and this tool will help you
point out where the issues are, or you can use the paid version and they will help you
clean that up in a more automated fashion. That brings us to tool number two. Tool number
two is the SEO toolbox from seositecheckup.com, you get 1 free test per day, or you can sign
up and get 15 free tests. I had already used my free test inadvertently, and rather than
trying to become hacker man or something, I figured-- flash my IP out, I just signed
up, took like three seconds. And now I have 15 sites that I can analyze, like 15 free
credits. You'll notice right away that they have highlighted that your meta description
is missing. And while meta description is not a direct ranking factor, it can be an
indirect one. And what I mean by that is Google's just going to make up the description typically
if you don't have one there. It's just going to guess what should be there. Well, I want
you to control that message because you need to match your description to search intent
and induce the click, make people click through at a higher rate. And so while it's not a
direct factor, it's indirectly influencing if someone clicks through to your result on
the search. So it's highly important in that sense. Also you'll notice a lot of these tools
go into keyword usage and things like that. That's a little bit tricky until you set it
up perfectly because it may think that a keyword is important that isn't. So you have to take
some of these results with a grain of salt. Let's look at some of the rest of these site
map. So they're saying, "Okay. You're lacking a site map." And what I like is you can click
on this. It tells you what to do. And so that's very helpful. It's not just, "Oh, okay. You
don't have that. Here's how to fix it." I also like that it's testing the amount of
objects on a page. So what that really is is how many requests are happening. So you
can see here they have tons of scripts. We talked about that on the last video on WordPress
optimization, how to get those scripts down and minified and combined CSS to one file
instead of 10 or 20. And that's what's slowing down their server. Also looks at the mobile
snapshots, very comprehensive. And like I said, 1 free per day or you get 15 if you
sign up for free with your email. Seoptimer, and I think that stands for Search
Engine Optimer. But if I'm butchering it, please someone correct me in the comments.
I've run the same site, Blues City Deli, and what I like about this one is to my knowledge,
I've tried multiple times and I've never had it stop me and ask me to, "Hey, you only
get one." But I really like this visual chart down here, which shows the page speed info,
and it's showing your server response, and then your scripts, total page size, and just
that visualization is kind of nice, showing you the danger zone of what they consider
good, a warning, and now where you're at. And so what I'm seeing as a pattern with all
these tools is they're noticing that while Blues City Deli maybe has some of the optimization
on page down, and they have some of the local stuff mostly down, their website is not very
speedy and that's coming up in all of these. And so using multiple of these can be good
because it kind of reinforces some of the issues. Like you see, they're saying, "Hey,
minify your JavaScript." And we just saw they had like 25 JavaScript files. And so they
need to minify them and combine them. This brings us to the last tool. So we're
going to go back over to Blues City Deli's website. And I have WooRank installed as a
Chrome plug-in. That right there is an awesome feature because you can kind of take this
around the web with you, click at any time. You can see, again, they're all picking up
very similar things, the meta description is an issue. If we go click on the mobile
icon, we can see how the mobile rendering looks. And we can look again-- look at where
these errors are coming up over, and over, and over. It's load time, page speed, things
like that. And so these tools are all kind of picking up on that. So these are the four
tools that for just a quick hit, "Hey, what's going on with these sites?" Before maybe I
take it into a paid tool and do a deep site scan and really get into the technicals. This
just allows me a very fast way to do an SEO analysis with these checkers and come away
with a pretty good idea of the direction we need to go when we're looking at auditing
some of these technical issues. Let me know down in the comments which of these tools
that you find the most useful and I'll see you in the next video. [music]

Oh boy…This is the million dollar shot, Al.
This is my grandson, little Joe,
and this is at the reception for my second swearing-in.
And now I have three of these,
grandchildren. And I don't want them
in 50 years saying, "Grandpa,
you knew about climate change.
You were a United States Senator.
Why didn't you do anything?"
"And also, why are you still alive?"
Because I would be 116.
Well, my son says that to me now.
I saw that show that you did.
Years of Living Dangerously,
that was such a great show.
And, you know what struck me in that show,
is that you appeared
to be so stupid
in it.
Maybe they can even show a clip from it here.
What is that?
Those are electricity wires.
Electricity is going through there now?
Right now, yeah.
One snarl is worse than the next.
This infrastructure has not been upgraded
for a very, very long time.
Right, so about 30 percent of what we are generating
is getting lost in transmission,
so when we lose the electricity
in the transmission,
we are having to burn more coal
for the same amount of electricity.
And that affects the climate?
That affects the climate.
I would imagine, it's a long flight to India, isn't it?
Sixteen hours.
Couldn't you have just read
what they're doing over there in India
and not have to act like you didn't know it?
I think in this rare circumstance
ignorance was actually a benefit.
But I think that's been
something of your persona,
throughout your career.
You're being generous.
I think it's in the DNA.
No, I think that everyone sees you-
As dumb.
Well, as an everyman
who's inquiring.
Let me tell you something,
you get off the plane in India,
Indira Gandhi International Airport,
number one airport in the world two years in a row,
and you have the flight crew
screaming at you,
"don't drink the water, don't drink the water."
And, you get out of the airport
and it smells like people are burning furniture.
More polluted than Beijing,
and they expect to have
1.6 billion people
in India, soon.
And they're trying to electrify
three hundred million homes.
And they're going to do that
at a rate of 7,000 homes a day.
Now think about calling your cable guy.
Well, it's a whole different deal.
Such a crazy quilt of an experience.
One of the things that I was profoundly affected by
was your visit to the
remote village.
These kids studying in these mud huts
by the kerosene lanterns,
and this woman, the matron of the family,
put all three of her kids through high school
and two in college, one getting a graduate degree.
But, the kerosene lantern
stunts the growth of these kids.
How heartbreaking is that?
There's a lot of heartbreak in all of this.
That's why I do my job.
The whole point of my job
is to improve people's lives.
I have such great admiration for you,
to have had such a
wonderfully successful career
in a diametrically opposite field.
Although helping people through comedy
and entertainment is certainly valuable.
I was a satirist,
you see,
and you a clown.
And so there's a difference, you confuse that.
I'm just saying, you are to me,
well I love you.
I'll just finish that way.
Well, I think what's important about my feelings
toward you, I do love you,
but America loves you, and misses you.
No they don't.
You'd be surprised.
I am constantly looking
for a version of your life,
where what I do beyond
is truly meaningful.
You can't have people coming and saying,
"I want to have the same impact as an Al Franken."
It's an impossible standard for people.
India now, they have coal,
and it's lousy coal, I think it's igneous.
I may have just made that up,
but they have lousy coal.
I need my smartphone so I can look up "igneous."
You're calling me out on igneous?

What Most People Don't Know About Married At First Sight - Duration: 5:10.
Drop two strangers at the altar on their wedding day, mix in some reality TV magic — and
you've got Married at First Sight.
The show follows the newlyweds throughout the first few months of marriage — all while
they're just getting to know each other.
As the couples are expertly paired up for a reason, the show becomes an electrifying
social experiment.
But will it last?
And is it even real?
Here's what you don't know about Married at First Sight!
Vetting party
Just because Married at First Sight is a reality show, doesn't mean just anyone can be on it.
As show expert, Rachel DeAlto, described to ET Online:
"Each candidate goes through a very thorough background check to determine if they have
significant debts or any sort of criminal record."
And that's not all.
The experts also take into account the moral values and mental state of the participants.
Show counselor, Pastor Calvin Roberson, added,
"We're looking at things like their psychological testing, their core values.
These are legally binding marriages."
But just what kind of person would sign up for this?
Reality bride
As a few contestants described on The View, a bride can have many different reasons for
getting married on the show.
Monet Bell admitted:
"I wanted to get married.
I'm at that place in my life."
And fellow candidate Cortney Carrion, just knew she had to do it:
"Well the opportunity presented itself, and I thought, 'Why not?'
If I left the room and said no, I would always think, 'What if?' for the rest of my life,
and I don't want to have regrets."
First impressions
The first big moment on the show is when the bride and the groom see each other for the
first time.
But it's not quite as romantic as it might seem.
Monet Bell shared her pragmatic take:
"Please don't fall… don't faint, just let me get to the end of the aisle."
But it was bride Jamie Otis who revealed her initial hesitation:
"Everyone's smiling at me, and I just wasn't initially attracted to him, and I didn't know
anything about him other than the way he looked.
He was like rubbing my hands, I just felt so uncomfortable."
Expert advice
The experts are involved not only in pairing partners, but also in counselling couples
during the marriage itself.
But exactly how professional are these "reality experts"?
As Otis described to The Knot,
"Not only did the experts find someone who I could fall in love with, but they helped
guide me along the process."
Her husband, Doug Hehner, agreed, saying,
"For me, it was the experts that sold me on the idea.
I believed in them as professionals, and I trusted that they were taking this experiment
seriously and wanted to find a real scientific match, not just two people that were going
to make good TV."
Hehner said the experts have become almost like family, saying, "Even after the show,
they've all reached out to us and let us know that they hope to always stay in touch.
We have every intention on having them in our lives."
All the feels
Otis and Hehner talked with The Knot about the process of getting to know someone you
might not even be attracted to — and how their attitudes shifted over time.
Otis said,
"On our wedding day, I was certain I made the biggest mistake of my life.
I was trying my best to be pleasant and friendly, meanwhile I was wondering why on earth I ever
thought it'd be a good idea to marry a complete stranger."
Hehner shared similar thoughts on that first day, saying,
"I think there was a lot of doubt in the beginning, and whether or not we were right for each
other."
But then, things began to change.
Hehner continued,
"Over that time, we've both fallen in love with one another, and the thought process
changed from whether or not I could see myself spending the rest of my life with Jamie, to
not being able to imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone other than Jamie."
Total regret
Married life with a stranger, and the pressures of reality TV, create tough moments for the
couples throughout the show.
When season four's Nick Pendergrast yelled at his then-wife Sonia Granados, things got
dark, very fast:
"I don't think she's attractive, I'm not attracted to her, that's me opening up to the fullest
f---ing extent."
He later apologized, telling The Knot, "I could only imagine how [Sonia] must have felt.
The cameras always add to the stress when you're on day six or seven in a row and it's
1 a.m.
But [the cameras] also forced us to face a lot up front and not put it on the back burner."
But fans of the show didn't let Pendergrast off the hook, immediately siding with Granados
via social media.
He told The Knot, "It was a hard week for sure, and I tried to stay away from social
media and focus on other things to distract myself from being sucked into reading comment
after comment."
Big decisions
The big moment arrives on Decision Day, when the couple decides if they want to stay together
or divorce.
So what's going through their minds?
It turns out, a whole lot.
Neil Bowlus opened up to Us Magazine about his choice to divorce, saying,
"I felt I was missing the ability to create a deeper, more intimate relationship…
Nobody is at fault — it's just the way things happened.
We learn, grow and move on."
He continued to reflect on his decision, saying, "After six months of discussing the events
of Married at First Sight with professionals, I am in a comfortable place, and I appreciate
and value our friendship.
If I have learned one thing, it is yes, I will miss some things [from our time together]."
Wanna give it a shot?
Otis has some advice for anyone who wants to go on the show.
She told Upfront New York,
"You REALLY have to know exactly what you want.
You also have to know your own good and bad qualities — especially when talking with
the experts….
Also, you MUST be open."
"...patience is key.
You're not always going to be on the same page, especially for the first 6 months.
Be patient with your spouse."
Good advice, coming from an alum who's still happily hitched!

Why You Don't Have Free Will: Your Breakfast Food, Biology, and Culture | Robert Sapolsky - Duration: 3:36.
So somewhere in all of this studying the biology behavior, somewhere in there when you're
realizing activity levels in this part of the brain one second before this act: what
you had for breakfast all the way back to like what culture your ancestors evolved to—All
of these are influencing your behavior.
Most of these variables we're not even aware of.
They're subliminal.
We never would have expected it.
Inevitably somewhere in there you've got to sit down and start having the Free Will
Discussion.
So is there any free will in there?
And the polite thing that I've sort of said for decades is that "Well, if there is free
will, it's in all the boring places, and those places are getting more and more cramped."
If you want to insist that today you decided to floss your teeth starting on your upper
teeth rather than your lower teeth, rather than the other way around, that that is an
act of free will—Whatever, I'll grant that one to you.
That's where the free will is.
In reality I don't think there's any free will at all.
If you look at the things that come into account as to whether or not someone is going to do
the right thing in the next two seconds amid a temptation to do otherwise, the variables
in there reflect everything from whether they're having gas pains that day because of something
unpleasant they ate that morning—That makes us more selfish, more impulsive, et cetera—to
what epigenetic effects occurred to them when they were a first trimester fetus.
When you look at the number of things we recognize now that are biological—organic—where
500 years ago or five years ago we would have had a harsh moral judgment about it.
Instead we now know oh, that's a biological phenomenon.
When we look at that, either we can say the last 500 years of realizing all of this biology
is going to stop right here and there's never going to be a new piece of knowledge
in that area—Yeah, there's areas of behavior we still can't explain biologically.
But if all you can do is see the logical direction we're going with that is what we're going
to get to the point is recognizing yeah, we're biological organisms.
This notion of free will, for want of a less provocative word, is nothing but a myth.
What's going to be really challenging though is to figure out how you structure a society
that actually runs humanely built around the notion that we are merely biological organisms.
And that one I haven't a clue.
If someone tells me, you know, "Oh, nice shirt you're wearing today," and I say
"Oh gee, thanks!"
I've just shown that on some fundamental level I have trouble accepting there's no
such thing as free will.
No: actually I picked this shirt today because the culture I come from has these values and
my visual, you know, color receptors told me that this shirt matches with this.
You know you still have a reflex to attribute some sort of free will and sort of tiny little
domains.
If that's going to prove horrible and too difficult to overcome, that's fine.
Where we need to do the heavy lifting is when we're making judgments about volition in
areas where we harshly judge people.
There we really have to do the hard work of thinking through that there's not a lot
of free will going on there.
