EF Challenge 2018 - what does sustainable development mean to you / Venezuela - Duration: 3:38.

Hello everyone, this is my response to the EF challenge 2018 to answer the

question what does sustainable development mean to you? So, since the

beginning of time humanity have always been trying to evolve, but what we don't

realize is that sometimes we try to make things for our good but not for everyone

else, in fact in some occasions we can go to a level that can really hurt people

and not just people, I am also talking about nature, something as important as

nature must be our priority the fact that there are few companies and

organizations help in the environment makes me think that there should be way

more helping the sea like 4Ocean does; helping the land like TenTree does,

similar programs to World Wild Fund for Nature, and last but not least, supporting

animal protection, an example of a company that does this is called, World

Animal Protection. Thanks to those companies we are still in time to prevent

tremendous natural disasters and stop the extension of many animals. Now I am

going to tell you how do I think we can improve our society as citizens of

the world we should start by taking care of each other thinking about the people

that were surrounded by, helping those who need us, if we do that we will be

able to reduce huge problems such as poverty and hunger also to keep discover

also to keep discovering new things we ought to keep benefiting from industries

and technologies advances like solar panels; in fact systems like solar panels

work very effectively in communities since they provide clean energy, save a

great amount of energy, cost a lot less than regular electricity and do not

contaminate the environment. As well technological advances allowed us to

discover new medicines to eliminate deadly diseases. Nowadays

we need to make some arrangements like governments should promote social, racial,

religious and gender equality, they can apply this improvements in job

opportunities, payments, etc. Another important point to talk about is to

build more public schools with a good education taking everyone into

consideration equally that way more people will have the opportunity to have

a good education, and this is a need because this is a factor that influences

the progress of a whole country because the people make up a country . If we

make all of the things I said previously possible, then there will be a

continuous progress. So, with that said, in my opinion sustainable development means

that we all have a mission to complete, and that mission is to make sure that we

make our world better, cleaner and more productive environment; we should try to

keep a balance between social and economic development and we should value

Earth because it is ours and if we do not protecte it, then who is going to? My name

is Gabriela Barroeta and I'm from Caracas Venezuela

'What a Bunch of Slime Bags': Bongino Rips Clapper, Comey Over Leaks on Trump Dossier - Duration: 6:05.

it's a great report no collusion which I knew anyway no coordination no nothing

it's a witch-hunt that's all it is there was no collusion with Russia you can

believe this one well that was President Trump yesterday in the White House here

to react to that and other topics we're gonna bring in Dan bond Gino former NYPD

officer former Secret Service agent and host of the dan bond Gino show as well

as an NRA TV contributor dan thanks for being here this morning really

appreciate it in the middle of all of this you've got this this report that

Griff's holding in his hands many many pages a congressional report that's been

largely Declassified within it there's a little nugget about James clapper the

esteemed at James clapper what we're gonna do is we're gonna play sound of

what James clapper said on CNN then read from the report and get you to react

that's what James clapper said as a flashback before about his role in

leaking to the media listen I didn't have any contact with

media until after I left the government on the 20th of January so I don't quite

understand at least what I've read that somehow I leaked about the dossier so

let me again so you didn't leak anything about the dossier to any media no not I

mean I talked about it after I left the government but not during that period

not and certainly not between the 6th of January and the 10th when the

president-elect himself talked about it so he said he leaked it after now the

report from the House Committee says this clapper acknowledged discussing the

dossier with CNN journalist Jake Tapper and admitted that he might have spoken

with other journalists on the same topic clappers discussion with tapper took

place in early January 2017 and may have happened with others as well Dan Pete do

you understand what a conniving snake this guy is let's walk through what he

did here they needed to report on the dossier the media and the Democrats but

here's the problem Pete the dossier was false it was bogus it was unverified

junk even that the slime bag Media folks couldn't report on it

without it's getting into some serious liability so they think they concocted

this genius scheme these sickos clapper tells Jim call me in January we share

dates are right yep going to the go up and brief Donald Trump and tell him

about this dossier clapper then goes and leaks to CNN that this briefing happened

about the dossier knowing what Pete that everybody's gonna go there's a dossier

yeah then start reporting on it conveniently BuzzFeed then puts out the

dossier just a few days later what a bunch of slime bags yeah but at the same

time Dan you you look at that interview that that we had on Fox here with James

Comey Bret bear asked some great questions the one that he didn't have

the answer to was who funded this dossier that we're talking about the

reason I think this is so important is because it's this dossier that

ultimately led to what we're now seeing play out on the Moller investigation if

you are head of the FBI isn't one of the most important jobs of yours to know the

evidence before you go into an investigation

what evidence came to think about this you're the most powerful federal law

enforcement official in the country you're the FBI director you've looked at

a document so sensitive the dossier that you've deemed it appropriate to brief

the President on it and you never asked who who produced the document this does

this make any sense to you at all what's going on I mean listen Occam's razor

here right given all possible explanations except the one that's the

most parsimonious here's the one that's the simplest right here Jim Comey's not

telling the truth period full stop Dan let me ask you about another story that

is what's happening with Ronnie Jackson the White House doctor that is withdrawn

his name for consideration for Secretary of the VA first do you feel like this is

a political hit job and secondly do you know him the Secret Service has now said

they are weighing in on the facts of his accusations against him have you ever

met him a long history of Ronnie he's a personal friend I have a lot of love for

and let me tell you something this is one of the most disgusting horrifying

putrid episodes of swap character assassination I've ever seen in my life

listen Grif let me tell you something right now no one has asked me to defend

Ronnie I have not spoken to Ronnie about this no one in the administration

no.10 people have contacted me and asked me to defend Ronnie I do this and go on

this show and have been on Twitter defending Ronnie and on my own show

defending Ronnie because Ronnie is an honorable noble American patriot who

helped so many people during my time with him in the Secret Service Jon

Tester the senator from Montana who started this this witch-hunt did -

Ronnie Jackson should be embarrassed he's a conniving snake he should resign

from office for doing this this was a good man

I watched him help so many people on the road selflessly over and over he puts

his name out there listen go after him on his politics that's fair game but

making up lies about this guy that unbelievably discussion should the

should the Secret Service have come out sooner with the facts that this we don't

have any record of this that's never happened

well Grif just to be clear as I'm not I don't speak for the Secret Service but I

did work there and I I know how these things work that took a little bit of

time it's not that easy you have to go out and talk to people who are on these

trips I was on the road with Ronnie I remember what Ronnie did for people

when I wanted to go to medical school it was Ronnie almost every step of the way

saying to me hey how can I help you what can I do for you while he was basically

working two full-time jobs this is a good man yeah all right Jen thanks for

the clean always good to see you

What To Look For When Interviewing│Branding Your Reputation - Duration: 9:03.

know that since you have a brand you have a vision you have a why you're

hiring people you're starting to build momentum people want to work with your

organization then you're gonna need to you're gonna need to monitor your brand

to protect it as well as move the brand forward did you know that like some of

the craziest stuff will pop up so there's free versions of mention and

buzzsumo and the first so many are free if your name gets mentioned you can you

can get an automated email popping up you can find inaccurate information

about your reputation because think about all we have is our reputation all

I have is my word to people and following through and having integrity

and ethics and if someone smears that I have to make sure we protect that

because that means 400 some people are impacted so check your reputation you

use one of these just punch it in and use the free app did you know this is

kind of interesting some of the weirdest stuff popped up I did it I got an email

automated from "Mention" and it said this Mexican kid was Italian last name

grabbed American dream now first of all I'm not Mexican

I have more ethnicities in me than the United Nations that I'll tell you I have

many ethnicities in me but I'm not Mexican nothing wrong with it I don't

know why but then I go on to read the inaccuracies and it says my adoptive I'm

adopted my doctor mother says Brunhild would

come home for a summer visit with her Italian American husband Jack DiNovi

Jack was an authentic Italian dude from Philly

he had an accent like you'd hear on the Sopranos like that my dad had no accent

he was a teacher he wasn't a gangster and then it said Brett DiNovi Google

that says then they adopt a little boy from Mexico his name is Brett wait it

goes on and on I didn't bother to correct it you know I did call my mom

since I'm adopted I said mom I'm from Mexico it was like silent for a little

while like mom am i from mexico it's cool I want to know she's like now

you're Native American Italian Japanese like she went into a whole thing and

clarified but anyway just protect make sure that you check for inaccuracies and

correct them people can give you bad google ratings number five I think

familiarity again is gonna be important so no matter where we work with BDA and

when we're hacking human behavior and when we're trying to spread the science

we make sure that there's one factor that there's consistency and there's a

bar you need to know that your organization no matter where your logo

pops up that there's a minimum bar there's a standard of excellence and

that wherever they go they're gonna get some so some level of excellence so

Marlene and I when we end up going away whenever we can afford it I'm like oh

man Souter ritz-carlton cuz I don't care what country it is it's always got a

minimum standard I always know I'm getting a little mint

on my pillow you don't want unpredictability I'm not gonna stay at

the Bates Motel and not know where it is because you don't know what you're

getting you follow me so it's important consistency in your brand you need to

know if you work for ABC behavior or whatever that ABC brand it's going to

give them a standard of excellence no matter where you where that client goes

and number two is the selection mechanism again there's not a whole lot

of research illness but finding the right people is like it's like

it's very important because did you realize that the compensation workforce

which I can find was one of the most comprehensive studies showed that in

2016 there was almost 20% the turnover rate now I saw a study from someone

recently that was in a behavior analytic world saying that residential was

somewhere between 45 and 75 percent turnover so your selection mechanism is

I think our selection mechanism is partly what keeps our turnover at four

percent or lower because we ready at the gate so it might be slightly flawed

those numbers but it's because we right away we we doubt whether it's a good

match or not because someone you all know the numbers

it can cost somewhere between like you know twenty percent and five hundred

percent of the replacement of that employee when there's turnover right so

at the gate it's important so we do a pre-interview to find a diamond in a

rough our pre-interview asked very targeted questions we ask questions

about in the very beginning we want to know is this just a means to an end or

are they going to be diehard behavior analyst we want to know are they we ask

questions we have a pay-for-performance model we don't have a bunch of people

sitting around on on salary we ask a question in the survey would you like a

low steady salary very low or would you like a free operate mechanism where you

can make a lot and work hard and their answers to that question helps us

determine that's just one factor out of many again I don't have research on this

but these are questions that people answer we want to know if they want to

be a behavior analyst or I'll ask boy ask questions like what do you want to

do ten ten years from now and we use we use Google a good tool is Google Forms

which is you can you get a free version or Survey Monkey either one of those

they're really good and we'll ask that question do you want to be behavior

analyst or you want you want to be a counselor I don't know if counselors

still lay on couches do they I don't know but use there's certain things that

are not legal for you to go getting certain things getting certain personal

information and saying it in an interview you're not allowed to ask

certain things interview according to labor laws but you can do some recon and

do a little intelligence and and determine exactly their history I mean I

saw someone that was espousing this bleach therapy like puring autism with

bleech drinking it that wanted a job and I sold them putting it all over the

LinkedIn and Facebook I'm like let's not hire them you know I mean I think again

maybe it's maybe it's like a falsely low number as a result of weeding people out

early but it's important you can you can skip a lot of hardship and turnover

where families and teachers are upset I'd rather not serve the learner if

we're gonna have someone come and go within four weeks because you know

sometimes by the time the staff learns to implement a plan with integrity and

there's turnover intermittent reinforcement of problem behaviors

occurs and the behaviors are worse right you're better off not even serving that

learner find people that buy your mission and so forth number two in the

interview I find that doing panel interviews are

critical so I'm gonna move along quicker with this panel reviews are very very

critical because you can you can study the social behaviors are people going to

interrupt others we interview them in a panel or are they going to dominate the

conversation and are they gonna have eye contact one person we hired it was so

cool because you could tell that they were a leader and you can tell they were

compassionate because somebody was struggling and nervous and then they

kind of like prompted them and gave him a hint and it was so cool we're like

you're hired not you because you saw the other thing is talk last when you're

interviewing people this again this needs to be studied a little further but

don't tell them about your organization in your culture before you ask questions

be the last person to talk and let them speak and when they start talking about

RDI or some sort of other therapy that you might not agree with that will help

you determine if they're right don't like avoid avoid the need to talk

about your company and and and its mission let them speak be the last one

to speak in the interview and then then we often have a follow-up day I'm sorry

sorry I'm killing you with homes YouTube stuff but it's our latest kick and what

we do is after the interview we asked them to do a follow-up because people

can be really great in person and articulate and they can describe the for

function as well but then their follow up it's so poor they won't even do a

simple assignment so we have a follow-up assignment which requires them to

determine what their niche might be and then we want to see them follow up

so if people don't respond within so many days they're already out

like a ten-year-old

JEALOUS HILLARY: What She Just Admitted Proves Exactly Why She Lost - Duration: 2:37.

JEALOUS HILLARY: What She Just Admitted Proves Exactly Why She Lost.

Hillary Clinton commented on North Korea.

And, as Patriotic American's we can all be happy that Hillary is NOT Commander-in-Chief.

In her haste, to criticize President Trump, she completely explained to the world WHY

she lost the election.

The American people cannot have faith in a person who talks out of both sides of her

face.

And who is so far removed, that she doesn't even understand that few actually trust her.

HRC says Trump is being played!

(It's hard to hold back the laughter, so why try?)

In a segment on CBS Sunday Morning, Hillary rips President Trump's strategy on North

Korea and proves America made the RIGHT choice in President Trump.

Hillary says during the interview, "He's getting played by Putin and Kim Jong-un."

Then quite amusingly continues to say, "I'm not sure he understands that."

If only, Hillary would have understood she was being played while selling off 20% of

our Uranium mineral rights to the Soviets.

As one American said, anonymously, "Her critique might mean something if she hadn't

been an abject failure as Secretary of State."

The comment sums it up quite well.

There's just not a lot to add to the statement.

Hillary admits that she does not "see a plan" on North Korea.

Hillary comments, "If we look at the country itself.

We can't do it in a vacuum apart from the world.

You know, the situation in North Korea is very dangerous.

And I think what we have had coming out of the President is not coherent."

She continues, "He attacks our ally, South Korea.

He doesn't seem to understand or have the people around him who can lead a very focused

diplomatic effort."

It appears, she is confusing her State Department with President Trumps!"

Then she says it!

"Sitting here I don't' see a plan or strategy that I hear from the President and

the General's.

I don't hear much out of the Secretary of State."

Newsflash, Hillary!

You don't 'hear' because you are NOT in the loop!

And you are grossly incompetent on so many levels.

Hillary completely botched Benghazi.

And because of the "stand down" order, lives were lost.

Shameful.

what do you think about this?

ITS OVER What Newt Gingrich Just Revealed About James Comey Will Ruin His Life - Duration: 15:02.

ITS OVER What Newt Gingrich Just Revealed About James Comey Will Ruin His Life

Newt Gingrich is back and he joined Sean Hannity last night to EXPOSE James Comey for who he

really is.

The Former Speaker is sick of seeing the fawning media coverage of James Comey and he set the

record straight in a video clip that's going viral.

Gingrich exposed Comey for "indictable" offenses including lying to Congress under

oath.

But that's not all.

As Fox News Legal Expert Gregg Jarrett Pointed out, Comey also violated 18 U.S. Code § 641

when he recorded he and Pres.

Trump's private meetings.

This is punishable by up to 10 years

in PRISON!

Here

is

some of Ginrich's comments:

"Clearly, if you were to go through all of the falsehoods that Comey has told, clearly

there are a substantial number on indictable grounds."

"If you were to apply the law and not just apply the social norm among good friends,

both McCabe and Comey are in very serious legal risk at this stage."

Sadhguru about what's happening after death and meaning of rituals - Duration: 17:54.

Questioner: Sadhguru Namaskar. I just wanted to know what is the importance

of doing shraddh Sadhguru: In the manifestation of life,

the physical life there is – let me separate this.

There is life and physical life for the sake of understanding.

The physical life has manifested itself. The physical life energy which generally is

referred to as pran or prana has five basic manifestations

there are ten but that'll complicate – the five basic manifestations.

These are called samana,

prana, udana,

apana and vyana.

When a person is declared Let's say if a doctor is observing

and they declared that person at a particular moment that he is dead now,

in the next twenty-one to twenty-four minutes samana will start exiting.

That means samana is in charge of maintaining temperature in the body.

First thing that starts happening is body starts cooling down.

Somewhere between forty-eight to sixty-four minutes prana exits.

After that between six to twelve hours udana exists… exits.

Till udana exits there are tantric processes with which we

could revive the body, but once udana exits there is a

a micro, micro chance but that is an impractical chance except that

it is impossible to revive the body once udana has exited,

The next thing is apana – somewhere between eight to eighteen hours

this exits. The vyana which is the preservative nature

of prana will start exiting from beyond that it can continue to exit up to eleven to fourteen

days if it's a normal death.

That is, somebody died of old age, with the feebleness of life they exited.

For such a person between eleven to fourteen days

certain processes will be happening in the body

to show that there is some element of life like nails growing,

hair… facial hair these kind of things can be noticed.

If someone has died accidentally, or in other words,

the life was vibrant and he died – not necessarily totally crushed kind of body

– still the body is intact –

that body, the reverberations of this life will continue

somewhere between forty-eight to ninety days. So till that time there are things you can

do for that life. What is the thing that you can do for that

life? See, what has happened with death is

your experience of death is that somebody is gone

but the experience of that person is he's exited the body.

And simply because he's exited the body you have no business with him

you cannot recognize him and if he comes back you will be terrified

The people that you love, if they pop up there'll be terror, not love

because your relationship is … either with their body

or with their conscious mind and emotion. These things have been left behind –

the body has been left behind and the conscious intellect and the discerning

mind has been left behind. Now in terms of mind

it is just a bunch of information which has certain tendencies of its own –

natural tendencies which are finding expression in a certain way.

There is no discerning mind. Once there is no discerning mind,

if you drop if you put one drop of pleasantness into this

mind which has no discerning capability, no intellect,

now this pleasantness will multiply a million fold.

If you put a drop of unpleasantness, that unpleasantness will multiply a minion…

million fold. It's like your child who doesn't have the

necessary discernment he goes out to play

he doesn't know when to come back. Till he's exhausted and he can't do anymore,

till then he wants to play because he has he doesn't have the necessary discernment

– okay it's time to go.

Similarly this is an extreme state where it is much more than a child where completely

the discerning mind is absent. So now whatever quality you put into it,

it will multiply a million fold. This is what is being referred to as hell

and heaven. If you go into a pleasant state of existence

this is called as heaven; if you go into a unpleasant state of existence

this is called as hell. These are not geographical locations

these are experiential realities that a life which has become disembodied is going

through. So what people are trying to do –

how well it is done or how ridiculously it is done today is a different matter,

but there is a whole science what to do at different steps.

One of the first things you must notice is traditionally – I don't know if you're

still keeping it in Mumbai, maybe it's all gone,

but if somebody dies there will be people, the first thing they will do is they'll

tie the big toes of the dead body together. Do you still do it or it's gone?

Participants: Yes. Sadhguru: Yes, it's very important

because tying up the big toes will tighten up the mooladhara in a certain way

so the body cannot be invaded or attempts to invade the body by that life

once again because… that life has not lived with the

awareness knowing that "This is not me."

It has always believed "This is me". Though it has come out, it tries to enter

through any orifice that is there in the body particularly through the mooladhara that's

life that's where life generates

and as body starts cooling down the only region where warmth will remain till

the last point – the last point of warmth is always the mooladhara.

So it tries to get back. To avoid this, the first thing is tie the

toes so that that attempt will not happen

because this exiting is happening stage by stage.

The reason why traditionally always we said if someone dies, within an hour-and-a-half

or maximum of four hours you must burn the body because this act is

going on. Now this is also true for the living.

If someone very dear to you is dead – you know he's dead but your mind starts

playing tricks – maybe he's going to sit up just now,

maybe a miracle will happen, maybe god will come and do something fantastic

right now. It has never happened to anybody

but still mind plays this because of the emotions that we have for that particular person.

And that is the same thing is true with the life that has exited from the body

this also believes that still it can get back into the body.

If you want to stop the drama, first thing is set fire to the body

one-and-a-half hours. But those days because, you know,

villages and no doctors to tell you for sure he is dead.

Somebody put on the funeral pyre and set fire, the guy sits up because he's not yet

These things have happened in the past. So they stretched it to four hours

so that these mistakes don't happen, but as quickly as possible body should be

taken away. If there are agriculture communities

they decided to bury because they want the forefathers and their

body to go back to the soil from which they ate.

You must understand we were in a subsistence farming.

We ate from that land. That land

A piece of that land is what we are holding as this body.

So they wanted to put this soil back into the same soil,

not somewhere else. Always you bury him in your land,

never in somebody else's land because you ate from this land.

Today you're buying everything from the store and eating.

You don't know where it's coming from so burial is not a good thing to do now.

At that time there is a certain process and to see that it happens as quickly as possible,

always salt and turmeric was put. So that quickly it dissipates into the soil.

But cremation is a good thing to do because it closes the chapter.

You will see this when there's death in the family, people

are crying and hollering and doing all kinds of things.

The moment cremation happens people will come back home,

everything is quiet. Nobody is crying for some time

because suddenly the truth has sunk in, "It's over.

The game is up." This is not only for you.

This is also for the disembodied being who's just exited

because he's also in that illusion that he can get back

and that stops, and that's a good thing. And there're many rituals to see that you

influence that you can somehow put a drop of sweetness

into that non-discerning mind so that the sweetness will multiply many fold

and they will live comfortably or they will live in a… a certain self-induced

heaven. That's the idea behind the rituals,

if it is done properly. Questioner:If I think of tomorrow, I'll be

somewhere. If I think about next year, I can be somewhere. After my death, I cannot even

think there is a conscious. Sadhguru: You want to know where you will

be after death? Participant: Yeah.

Sadhguru: Okay. See, Prasanna some things you know best only by experience,

you know. (All Laugh)

Are you ready? No, you leave the planning to me. (Laughs)

Are you ready to experience? Hum? We must open this glass pane right now.

you are not conscious so where is the question of your consciousness?

(Laughs) Who told you you are conscious?

You are speaking but it is not making any sense to anybody. (Laughs)

When somebody starts talking, talking, talking, and they don't know what they're talking

we will assume that they're unconscious, isn't it?

Okay. I know the question but I want you to get to know the depth of

the question. You are asking the question without knowing

what you are questioning. When you ask 'what is going to happen after

death' it is not a curiosity question,

it is not an entertainment question, you are asking 'What is my destiny?

What is the source of who I am?' Isn't it? (Laughs)

I know why you are asking, okay, because all those things that you read

and you did not understand those things have messed you up badly,

I know that's why you're asking but let me look at this.

Now, 'I want to know what's going to happen beyond this body'

is it a small question? You are asking

'What is the source of who I am? Who is me?'

That's what you are asking. If you do not know who is you and

if you know that you don't know who you are

there must be a tearing pain within you, isn't it?

You are existing here without knowing who you are

must be a terrible thing, isn't it? You have not realized the immensity of the

question. You don't know

if you cry with this question, if you roll on the floor with this question,

if tears are the only way you can ask this question

there would be an answer. Now, the way you are asking the question

you have not realized the immensity of the question.

Whatever I say, already you have some conclusions from the

scriptures, isn't it?

You have, I know. Now, if I say something anyway

you will get into more of such nonsense. Now, you are coming with the scriptures and

saying all this things, now you will say more foolish things

because this you cannot know because I tell you something.

If you know the pain of not knowing then I can make you know it.

If you still do not know the pain of not knowing, me telling you after your death your soul

will go and sit on top of this building

is not going to liberate you in any way, isn't it?

Isn't it so? Fairytale it is.

Now, I'm telling you do you want a story or do you want to know it?

Say yes or no? Do you want to know it or do you want a story

about it? Maybe you cannot understand,

you can only experience it. Are you willing to experience it?

I am not going to kill you. Don't worry I am not thinking on those lines

but are you will… (All laugh) are you willing to experience it?

So if you are willing to experience how much of your life are you willing to give

to make this happen to yourself? now just to learn the alphabet,

ABC, just to learn to read and write,

just to learn to maybe write software how many years did you invest?

20 years? But it should be there, right?

See, how many years have you invested in just learning to read, write and earn a living,

how many years? 20 years of education?

Yes. For something as simple as survival

just to earn your food and living, 20 years you have invested and

you are still investing further, isn't it? To know the very source of who you are,

to know what is the basis of your creation how much time are you willing to invest?

You think about that, you tell me, then I will tell whether it's possible or

not. (Laughs) to put proper inputs to just write software

for a dumb computer it took 20 years. To go beyond all your limitations

and know the very source of who you are how much time are you willing to invest to

get the proper inputs I am asking?

See, I want you to understand what is your reality right now,

don't just bullshit yourself, isn't it?

I am not saying you got to come or don't come but

you must know where you belong. You don't believe all kinds of nonsense

about yourself. The most important thing in your life is

even if you can't afford to be straight with anybody in the world

at least with this one person you must be straight, isn't it?

This is something that you owe to yourself, every human being.

If you don't do this your life is definitely a tragedy.

It doesn't matter what's happening with it or not happening with it,

if you don't know how to be straight to yourself you have wasted your life before you live

it. Before it starts it's over, isn't it?

So, please just, I want you to look at it Right now you are asking big questions.

I am talking about the possibility The reason… the reason why

something which is just the natural fruit of life

what you call as enlightenment if you allow yourself,

if you allow life to happen to you in its utmost possibility

it's a natural fruit; it's a natural flowering.

It is not something that you are doing to deviate your life to some

other point; it is a natural process of reaching there.

In spite of that why it is happening to a large number of people,

why it doesn't happen at all except a few individuals in the world is

simply because of this – because we are not straight with it.

We don't even know whether we are willing to go for it or not, isn't it?

It's not happened not because it's difficult, it's not happened because

you are not willing to give yourself to it, that's all.

Who I am and what I'm doing - Duration: 4:02.

Hi, I'm Evan, the creator of eRochefoucauld.

eRochefoucauld is about telling the story of humanity and the history of ideas

the good, the great, and the meaningful.

First, I love people and ideas, which means that I believe philosophy is meant to both

answer 'how shall I think,' and, 'what shall I do.'

A philosophy that can't be lived is like food that can't be eaten and a kitchen isn't

a storehouse for food, anymore than philosophy is a museum of ideas.

Second, we both learn and understand from the past, and plan and hope for the future.

After all, we live forward, and understand backward; and we must both live, and understand.

These are equally true, and equally important.

On every topic, every debate, and in every moment, there is a part of you and society

that says "this is where we have been and this is how things are."

While at the same time there's a part of you and society that says

"this is where we could go and this is how things could be."

I want to uplift both of these ideas, because that's a great conversation.

After all, history precedes every moment.

And I want to treat that history like a tool box of many ideas and to make those ideas

available in today's context.

The purpose of philosophy, after all, is not to impose one idea

but to make many ideas available.

And to do that, the best tool we seem to have and hope for, is:

Free thinking, free speaking, and free learning

And finally, I think we can enter a new renaissance or new enlightenment.

Sure, with every generation there's a new story about how the world is coming to an end.

And with every generation there's a new set of problems, challenges, and issues to take arms against.

While I am far from old or wise, I've lived long enough to know that we

will never be in short supply of those pointing out everything wrong with the world.

But most importantly, I don't want to build my life on a foundation of every problem I

see in the world or in others.

Do you?

Because there is only so much we can read, learn, or explore in our lifetime.

My goal, is to find the best in so many philosophies, religions, cultures, histories,

and people.

Because as it stands, we've come a long way from the swamp to the stars to the Internet.

And through that great dialogue and clash of ideas the arc of history is bending more

and more towards justice.

We know this, because we are lifting people out of poverty and eradicating disease faster

than any time in history.

And while the cost of accreditation has skyrocketed, the cost of education is nearly free.

So, with the tools of the 21st century I think we can rebuild that old agora.

Or at least, I think that's something worth doing, and a burden worth bearing.

The way I plan to start is by telling the story of humanity and the history of ideas:

the good, the great, and the meaningful.

Now, great ideas and stories belong to all of humanity

not one group or one individual.

So all my content will be free, forever.

But if you choose to financially support my work, thank you.

It's you that will allow me to remain independent and do more.

And with your help, I will be able to make more ideas and stories available, one week at a time.

Why Kids Act Out "On Purpose" (And What You Can Do About It!) | Parenting A to Z - Duration: 13:38.

Hey hey, my friend! Welcome to Parenting A to Z! I'm Kelly Bourne and this week we're

diving right into revenge. And revenge, I know it's kind of a crazy sounding word,

it sounds really heavy and sort of ominous, but what I'm talking about

is those situations where you feel like your kids are acting out, they're saying

things and doing things on purpose. They're trying to stick it to you!

If you know what I mean?! I feel like every parent in the world will know what

I mean! So if you find yourself dealing with that kind of behaviour, stick with me,

we're gonna talk about why they can act out on purpose in those ways, and then

I've got some really practical tools on how you can deal and how you can turn

that whole deal right around! Comin' right up!

So what is revenge?

What are these revenge "misbehaviours" that I'm talking about?

I am talking about when you send your kids to their room and they trash it on

purpose. Or when they purposely break a plate, or when they purposely pull

flowers out of the garden, or they -- anytime you feel like they're doing

something on purpose to stick it to you. Like they're trying to

send you a message. That's what I'm talking about. So it could be

noticing escalating behaviour, it could be damaging property, it could be hurting

others, it really could show up in a whole different different variety

of ways, depending on your child your relationship, and just and just how

things are, and how they're seeing things. Because that's really what

it comes down to. And I'll touch on that briefly in a little bit, but first I want

to talk about how you can tell if you're dealing with this kind of behaviour. So if

you find yourself being really shocked, or disgusted, or really disturbed, or

really hurt, like if you're finding yourselves feeling really hurt like, how

could they do that?! That's a really good indication that you

could be dealing with revenge type of misbehaviours. The other way to tell,

this is probably for me, personally at least, the best way that I

can tell if I'm falling into this revenge cycle,

is in how I respond to my kids. So if I find myself being tempted

to respond with retaliation, to kind of up the ante, like oh you're gonna do that?!

Well I'm gonna show you who's boss! That is an excellent excellent

trigger for me, red alarm bells, like okay, hold it! Pump the brakes, Kelly!

This is what we're dealing with here. So anytime I'm thinking about

retaliation, or I'm gonna like, up the punishments, or I'm gonna

lecture them, or nag them into next week and show them who's boss, that is a

really good indication that I'm dealing with a revenge type of behaviour. And the

thing, I know revenge it's such a, I even feel weird saying it, it's such a crazy

harsh sounding word, but really what it really just means is that they're trying

to get back. They're trying to get back at us. And underlying so much of

that is a feeling of hurt. And that's the other big thing, when it comes to revenge

behaviours, is I feel like we can get really distracted by the outward display.

Whether it is them mouthing off, or being sassy, or damaging property, or being mean

to their brother, we can get so focused on that, that we can forget that the

underlying reason of why they're doing that is because they're feeling hurt or

they're feeling left out. So it's so important not to get distracted with the

outward behaviour and start to look at the underlying reasons as to why they're

doing this. Why are they acting out in this way, and why now? And really getting

curious about that. And that is the secret sauce right there, to turning things

around. Because it is never about pulling up the flowers, and it is never about

smashing the plate on purpose. It's always hitting at that underlying reason

why. That's where you'll start to see the behaviour change. And of course, you know

me! I'm so big on the "why" and when it comes to revenge-type behaviours, those

" I'm gonna stick it to mom and dad" kind of behaviours, "I'm gonna get back at

them," there's three really big reasons why our kids do that. Of course,

I don't want to paint with too wide of a brush, but just to give you

an idea, and to kind of start thinking and reframing this behaviour so you can

see what's really going on and what is actually really bothering your kids.

So the first really big reason our kids can act in this way is punishment. If our

kids have been punished and punished and punished and punished and punished and

punished into next week, any time they make a mistake or act out, it starts to

feed that cycle. They start to get the message that we're trying to make them

pay. And lots of times, heck! - let's be

honest! When we punish our kids that's what we're trying to do! We're

trying to make them pay for what they did. It's like somehow we think that if

we make them feel worse they'll somehow act better. And the big

reason why punishment is so ineffective and why punishment, whether it's threats,

or nagging, or bribing, or removing privileges, or all of the ways that we

can punish our kids when they act out, the reason it's so ineffective,

especially when it comes to these revenge-type behaviours is that it just

reinforces the message that "they're out to get me."

Because what do our kids do? Of course, we as parents, we think that, okay we're

gonna punish our kids and then they're gonna get it, and they're never gonna do

that again. But what happens from our kids' perspective? Instead of

them thinking about what they did, or what they could do differently next time,

or where they maybe could improve things, they're not thinking about any of that!

They're just thinking about how mean you are! So it's just like this

never-ending cycle. So punishment is right up there, one of the number one

reasons why our kids can act out in revenge. And then there's two other

reasons - one is constantly losing power struggles. If our kids feel like they're

always losing power struggles and we're always coming out on top as far as

those times we're locking heads, again, it could be with our younger kids

putting on boots, putting on coats, all those day-to-day struggles.

With our older kids, it could be us always putting our foot down, or never

allowing them to see their friends, or it could be anything! But from their

perspective, always losing power struggles, it gets really

defeating. You can just kind of feel like, "Oh man!

Well, if I'm not gonna win at this, I'm gonna win at THIS! I'm gonna

show them!" And that's where the revenge behaviours can come in. Third one is

sibling favouritism. So of course, we wouldn't do it intentionally, but

sometimes our kids can feel like one of their siblings is favoured and that can

be really hurtful, and that can be a really big source of these

types of behaviors that we see. So I say that not to like, guilt anyone, cuz

like, guys! I'm in the same boat with you! I am in the same boat with you.

But I feel like having an awareness of knowing that punishment, and our kids

losing power struggles, and our kids feeling like other siblings are favoured,

those are the root reasons for some of these misbehaviours

that we're seeing. So if we can have this awareness, it can cause us to kind of

step back before it gets to that point of their behaviours escalating. Those are

the three big reasons why they do it. I think it's important to to look at how

we can deal practically when we're faced with these situations. Right at the top

of the list, is acknowledging their hurt feelings. And trust me guys! I know this

can be like the absolute last thing you feel like doing when you feel like your

kids are breaking stuff, or being rude, or acting out on purpose. It's like the

absolute last thing you feel like doing, but it is the only way to start building

that connection and building that sense of trust back up, is to acknowledge where

they're at and that they might be hurting. Saying like, I'll say it

to my kids sometimes - "You must be really upset with me to talk to me like

that." or "did I do something to upset you? Because that's

not like you." Just recognizing and kind of throwing them a bone that I know this

isn't who they are. And asking what's bothering them, asking them what's up.

Just recognizing that something's going on. And coupled right closely

with that, is avoiding the punishment and the retaliation. Because like I said

earlier, that's only feeding the cycle. I know we think we're showing them who's

boss, but if we keep upping the ante they're gonna keep upping the ante. It's

up to us as the parents, as the adults, to break that cycle. To recognize what's

going on, and to take the hard step. I know it's funny how sometimes asking

for a hug can be taking the hard step when we feel like we need to be the ones

laying down the law, but recognizing that they're hurt, dealing with the hurt,

avoiding the punishment, and retaliation, that's how you will change

things. And you'll start to see a slow down tick in these behaviours. And I'm

also not sitting here, pretending that you do this, you start recognizing their

feelings, and avoid punishment and retaliation, that you're

gonna have a magical moment and your child will never act out in revenge

ever again. It's a process. It's absolutely a process for you and for

them. Changing how you communicate with each other. Not taking the bait of these

alarming behaviours. Because when you're

shocked, when you're feeling shocked at what your kids are doing, that's a really

good sign that you're you're in this revenge type cycle. So stopping that

cycle, reaching out for the hug, reaching out for connection, recognizing that your

kids are hurting, and then going from there. And another thing too, this one's

hard, this is a tough topic, so if you find yourself listening

in right now, and joining me right now and you're having a lot of conflicting

feelings, know that it's totally normal. It's really hard, because I

know for a lot of us, it's like we're trying these new strategies and these

new ways of relating with our kids that we actually have no experience with

ourselves. Because this isn't how a lot of us were raised. A lot of us

were raised that you do what you're told, when you're told, and that's kind of the

end of the story. So giving yourself permission to reach out to your

kids and connect with your kids and recognize that they're hurting and not

getting distracted by their outward "misbehaviours," it can be

hard. It can bring up a big internal struggle. So I'm right there

with you. I'm right there with you, if you find yourself having a hard time. And

especially with this next piece I want to touch on, is the importance of making

amends. And that means us apologizing for our part in the hurt. It's hard, it's hard

admitting it. It's really hard admitting it if we've said something or we've done

something, because we can react out of anger. We can retaliate out

of anger, we can we can act out because we're feeling stressed about something

that's going on at work, or something where we feel like we're

short in another area of our lives and then our kids are suddenly taking the

brunt of our impatience. When we can be strong enough to make those amends,

that sends a huge message to our kids that we're on the same side. We don't

ever mean to hurt them, and that we are willing to do what it takes to build

that bridge of connection again. And then it also shows them a

powerful example that when they mess up, when they make mistakes, when they maybe

act out of stress or anxiety, doing and saying things that they don't mean, that

they can apologize. That they can reach out and mom and dad are only ever

a hug away. And that we're not gonna build up that wall, that

we're gonna bring them in towards us. So making amends is also a huge huge piece

of this. So really, at the end of the day, like I said, I'm not trying to pretend

that watching this video is gonna be a cure-all for all your defiant

disobedient behaviours that you're dealing with, but I hope that it sets off

a mindset shift, that instead of being distracted by your kids' outward behaviour

as being something that you need to control, or you need to fix, see it

instead as your child is hurting. Your child is trying to reach out. Your child

is stressed. Your child is anxious. And this behaviour is their way of showing

you that they need you, and that they need help. They just don't have the words

to tell you rationally. Heck, just think of in your own life when

you're feeling really upset, really stressed, really anxious, really hurt, if

you're conducting yourself with your full rational mind. Being very calm

in all your interactions. I know for me, heck no! The answer is no! That's when I

have a really short fuse and I can do and say things that I don't mean. And

it's no different for our kids. So I hope this sparks a

mindset shift for you, to just kind of dig a little bit deeper, to chase the why --

why are they behaving in this way? And why now? What's going on? How are they

hurting? Instead of being distracted by the

outward behaviour. Of course, if you have any

questions or comments, leave them below. I know it can be tricky. It's an ongoing

process, dealing with these types of behaviours, so if you want more in-depth

resources and support, make sure to check us out in the Parent 'Hood. I also host

weekly office hours where you can hop on and talk to me directly

one-on-one about your issue and give you some specific strategies for what you're

dealing with. So I really hope that helps guys! I wish you so much luck as you're

dealing with these tricky behaviours. I hope that mindset shift changes things,

changes your perspective on your kids' behaviour

and opens that door to finding some solutions and finding the root of what's

causing that misbehaviour. So best of luck! I'll see you in the next vid and

let me know how it goes!
