What kind of career/job pays atleast one lakh salary
To get that job, what college/institute i should enroll in?
I get this question a lot from students
Lets just say I gave them a course and and details of an institute
They enroll in that course.
But they are not smart enough to ace that course
After an Year they will realize, they chose wrong career option
They wasted an year and one lakh rupees
Which is why when you are making career decisions, instead of thinking
How much money you are going to make, think
about your caliber first
Imagine there is no exam/test. No pressure on you
No one to monitor you
After you open a book, how long can you focus and study?
Is it two hours, four hours ?
Jot it down honestly
Put it aside
The reason i am asking you to be honest is because, most people
say a random number because of fear of ridicule and criticism
They are never honest with themselves or others
The reason is, if they give a honest answer people will judge and criticise them
People will go nuts if they heard an answer like 2hours a day.
Are you that lazy?
They are afraid of this kind of responses
Which is why i am stressing about being honest. Its very important
Whatever the number of hours is be honest! No one will judge you.
Talking about honest introspection, let me share a quick
story about my friend Vinod who is very clear about his capacity
I cannot pull off the usual Btech/degree
I just cant handle traditional streams.
We need to work really hard, and i cant.
I can study for only 3-4hours max, thats the best i can do.
He admitted this to everyone around him.
including his parents
Their parents are open minded too, they are happy he did not wasted money.
They gave him time to figure out what he wanted to do
He got himself an internet connection and started chilling out, watching movies, playing games etc.
This is his schedule
One day he ran into a photography crashcourse.
He found it interesting
Photography basics course in just ten days
He went to the course with the camera he had
He instantly felt a strong connection with photography, loved it.
Everyday he practiced for few hours
Then he watches movies and stuff after that
This is his schedule
After practicing like this for several months, he called
his family and friends and offered them free services
He asked money for only printouts and Memory cards
This is an irresistable offer for them
They jumped at the free opportunity of pro photographs
Everyone started calling Vinod
He started working for Voni Functions, birthday parties, baby showers
Which was a huge hit
This free work attracted paid work to vinod
He started getting Leads
He got himself a stack of business cards
He used to come up with a random number when he was asked about fees
He doesnt even know, how much he should charge
He called local studios and pretended as a potential client, so he can get details of the fees.
They gave him, their standard fees
Then he got a clear picture of how much he should charge
He started charging a few thousand rupees for huge gigs
Currently he is working for weddings and big corporate events
For one wedding photoshoot, he charges around 50,000 INR
Currently he is also working on making corporate short films
For a one week work of videoshooting, editing and basic vfx
he charges around 70 - 90k INR
This is not his standard monthly
This happens twice or thrice an year
His average monthly income is around INR 70,000 - 1,20,000 per month
This is not a over night success story
It took him around 4years to get to this point. It was not easy
He offered free services for months.
Most people cheated him, never paid the bills
There is a lot of struggle for sure
But instead of wasting years in college, he gained experience in photography
He analysed his caliber properly
and honestly. And this is the result
If he chose Btech/Pharma, he would have ended up miserable, clueless like his friends
with 10 back logs
Vinod got lucky and found a photography course.
What about you?
Take a piece of paper
Make a list of all the things you like, even the silly ones with no earning potential
