All my videos will now include English subtitles. This should allow for multilingual support. Just turn on subtitles and use the auto traslator that Youtube offers.
This mod is for both GPD XD and GPD XD+. It uses a Rock Cany Wiimote controller.
This method is for keeping everything in good condition. The alternate method involves a hammer and is not as neat.
Remove the 4 screws.
Remove the top cover from the bottom cover. You can use and opening tool or spudger to unfasten it.
The only part you will need is the rubber piece under the directional pad.
The rubber piece will have a round rubber edge. Cut outside that edge.
We will replace the rubber piece to the GPD XD with this one.
Now to open the GPD XD. Push down on the center of the rubber pieces that cover the screw holes.
Do not use something sharp or it may leave a hole or even scratch the XD case.
The rubber pieces should curl up and allow you to pull it out.
Once you remove all the rubber pieces, remove all the screws.
Use an opening tool. Work your way around unfastening all the clips on the edge of the GPD XD.
Do not open until they are all unfastened. If you do not, you may break a clip.
WARNING: The most common repair needed for XD or XD+ is a broken shoulder ribbon. Be careful not to separate the case too much or it will happen to you.

First remove the battery cable.
Try to pull from the clip and not the wires.
Flip up the ribbon clip before you remove the ribbon.
Once the clip is up you can slide the ribbon out.
You will not have this wire. This is my own modification.
I will show you how to remove the XD+ shoulder ribbons and speaker cable at the end of this video.
Cables to disconnect:
Speaker wires.
Joystick ribbons.
Wifi antenna.
Screen ribbon.
Screws to remove.
Things to keep in mind: If you do not have an opening tool to open the GPD XD case, use something like a credit card or guitar pick. Do not use something metal or you will scratch the case up.
Open the ribbon clips before trying to remove the ribbons.
Try not to pull wires. Try to pull from the clips.
Be careful removing tape that is on top of wires or ribbons.
Try and keep the XD level when you take off motherboard. Once you remove it, you may drop buttons.
Once you have removed the screws and cables, lift the side of the motherboard that is away from the ports, then pull it away.
Replace any buttons stuck on the motherboard back to the bottom case.
Now just take the old rubber piece and replace it with the wiimote rubber piece. Rotate it until you get a good fit.
Now it is the same process in reverse. Make sure all buttons are seated properly. Make sure all cables and ribbons are above the motherboard before you try to replace screws.
Once all the cables are above the motherboard you can slide the ports into position. Push the motherboard down, then replace the screws.
Holding the motherboard you can test the buttons. Check your buttons and make sure they are in the right spot. Once you are happy with it you can start replacing the screws.
Work backwards and continue to reassemble the GPD XD. A few things to keep in mind when you put it back together:
Make sure the ribbon connector is open when you put the ribbon in. Then close the clip.
Do not put too much pressure when tightening screws. You do not want to strip them.
Connecting a ribbon is much easier when you use tweezers.
For XD+ Owners: The shoulder ribbon connector and the speaker connector are a little different than the XD.
For XD+ Owners: To unclip the speaker wire, go underneath it and pull it up.
And that is it. I will try and make more videos soon.
