- If you have ever thought in the past
about stem length on your road bike,
it is probably because you've been
thinking about comfort and fit on your bike.
However, mountain bikers, when they think
about the length of their stems,
they are thinking more about the handling of the bike,
and the way it feels when they stear.
- Yeah, so could we change the way that our road bikes feel
by messing around with stem length?
Could we make them more nimble, more agile, faster even?
- We've been thinking about this subject
because of the current trend amongst professional cyclists
who are trying to get longer and lower at the front end,
in order to become more aerodynamic.
The problem with that is that they are
choosing frames which are one size smaller
than they really should be riding, and therefore,
the reach is too short.
And to compensate for this, they are using
some humongous stems, sometimes up to
14 or even 15 centimeters long.
- 15 centimeters, that's like six inches Dan,
and that is huge.
Surely, that is gonna make things a little bit
difficult in the steering department.
Surely they'd be better off with an 11 centimeter stem,
a bit more standard,
but even, wouldn't things be better with an 8.
- Oh.
- Should we find out?
- Let's do it.
We've got a selection of the new PRO vibe aerodynamic stems
to try out on Dan's bike.
First of all, we've got this little stubby,
eight centimeter number.
We've got an 11 centimeter one already on the bike,
and then finally, we've got this humongous
14 centimeter stem.
- That looks longer than 14 centimeters. That's six inches.
- It does look big, doesn't it?
It depends on where you measure it from.
You always go from center to center
when you measure the stem.
- Slight illusion there.
What we are going to do is a little course
we've set here in suburbia, a little bit
like a kid's day skills course.
What we're gonna do is weave in and out of these cones,
around the round about just behind you, and back again.
At first to see, and mainly to see, how it feels
with the different stem lengths,
but we are also going to time it,
just to see if there's any statistical difference.
- And also find out who's king of the car park skills.
- Me or Dan, bring it on.
- Three,
two,
one,
go.
Oh, no, he's 11.98, but with a 10 second penalty.
- Ten second penalty? No, I'm not having that.
Three,
two,
one,
go.
I think he's fluffed it.
- Have I?
- 11.77.
- Three,
two,
one,
go.
Whoa, oh looking fast, looking really fast.
11.17, it's a PB.
- Oh, it is, is it?
- Yeah.
Three,
two,
one,
go.
12.14.
- Whoa.
- The reason that we think there might be a difference
is that stem length affects the steering arc.
The shorter the stem, the less you will need
to move your hands in order to turn the wheel a set amount.
That's one reason why mountain bikers prefer short stems,
better for weaving around trees.
Now, stem length isn't the only thing governing handling.
The head angle and the trail of the bike
give built in handling traits,
like the DNA of the bike.
But changing stems can have a huge difference.
What happens, then, on the slow speed test?
- The results are in, Si, and what I can tell you
is that basically, we got better as we went on,
with practice.
We were both quickest on the 8 centimeter at the end.
And I also have to tell you, unfortunately,
you were better on every single run.
I'm devastated.
- I don't feel so bad about the rubbish results, then.
Okay, given that practice clearly makes perfect,
can we infer anything from the feel?
Did it feel different?
- Well, I was expecting a much bigger difference
in feel between the stems, because there's quite a
big difference between 14 and 8, but actually, what I felt
was that I was just comfortable in the 14 centimeter,
'cause that's closest to my normal riding position.
- Yeah, well I definitely felt that the 8 centimeter
was easier to weave through the cones
then weirdly, it was actually harder
to get around the bottom corner,
so I feel that maybe we need to move
from this kind of artificial challenge
to a real world challenge, cause, how many
Tour de France stages will have riders weaving through cones
and then chuck in a u-turn in a road?
- That is true. There's the occasional dog
runs out into the peloton, isn't there,
and sometimes you have to weave around a couple
of spectators to get to the sign on, but I take your point.
Descending challenge, you think?
- Descending challenge.
- Real world.
- You know, it does feel twitchy. My god.
- Aaa.
- It's responsive.
Maybe a bit too responsive. I'm not sure I like that.
- And go.
- That feels better, heaps better.
- Wow, that made a heck of a difference.
Just a totally different animal down there.
That's the kind of bike that I know and love.
Size matters, clearly, when you're going fast.
Those of you that are familiar with the
new PRO vibe handlebar and stem will note
that we're not exactly getting the most
out of its aerodynamic properties,
and that's because we're still running this
external DI2 junction box, whereas, we should really
be using a hidden junction box
in the end of the handlebar there,
'cause all the cables can route internally,
through the bars and out at this point here,
into the stem and then out of the stem
through that hole at the back,
then actually down into the steerer tube,
completely hidden away.
Three, two, one, go. Wow, rolling out the big guns.
- Whoa, well I'll tell you what,
the difference between this and the 11,
is nowhere near as big as the 11 and the 8,
but it does feel, it feels really stable,
and particularly interesting,
it feels really good around corners,
like the bike just wants to rail.
That has surprised me a lot.
Dan, I've got some results.
- Go ahead.
- It's highly traffic dependent.
- Yeah. Yeah, I thought so.
My last run was easily the fastest,
because I wasn't held up by multiple cars and a tractor.
- Well, you'll also be pleased to know
that you have the fastest of the day.
- Oh, yes.
- So I may be car park king,
but you are downhill demon.
- That is good to hear.
In terms of how it felt down the descent, though,
I was really at home on this one.
I realized when I was going down the hill
that you don't turn the bars much at all
you're literally banking around the corners.
Having that long stem where it's slightly harder
to turn the bars actually made me feel a lot more stable.
I was carving and flowing through those corners.
- Carving and flowing.
Well, in contrast, the 80 mm stem was utterly terrifying
from the moment I set off and got above 20 mph,
it felt way, way too twitchy, and really
not good through corners at all,
and then I suppose the 110 was the Goldilocks, really.
It didn't feel quite as stable,
but then, it just felt right.
- Yeah, I was happy enough on the 110.
I think one thing we should mention, though,
is that in our pro days, can we mention that?
We were trying to get long and low and aerodynamic,
and so quite often we favored the long stems,
and so that is something we've been used to
for many, many years, isn't it?
- Well, it is, but I have, since retiring and getting older,
gone shorter, so I now use a 110 mm stem.
But it did feel good, nevertheless,
going back onto a longer stem.
Should you go and buy a longer stem, then,
to mimic these results?
I don't think you should, given that, actually,
bike fit would probably be the determining factor.
But don't be put off by experimenting
with a longer stem, I think, bikes feel good.
- Now before we conducted our very own
stem length experiment, we did consult
with bike design guru, Tom Sturdy,
who typically has already done quite a lot
of experimenting himself.
And what he has found is that you're probably
not going to be able to find much of a difference
between a long bike with a short stem
versus a shorter bike with a long stem.
But he does say that that choice is very important
for shorter riders due to the limit of wheel sizes.
If you are a shorter rider, you really want
to go for a longer frame with a shorter stem.
- Yeah, and then in order to offset that twitchiness
that we've just been experiencing, you then hope
that the actual geometry of the bike,
like you talked about, the DNA of it,
would actually mean that it had more inbuilt stability.
But then, thinking about that point, actually,
although stem length doesn't have much of an effect
on the way it rides, actually, in order to feel the bike
as it was designed to be felt,
you should probably use it with the stem length
that it was specced with, I guess,
as the designer intended.
- Yeah, it does start to get a bit complicated, doesn't it?
But you can rest assured that there is a good reason
why bike geometry has remained pretty much the same
for decades.
- Right then.
I guess all we can ask at this point
is for you to subscribe to GCN.
To do that, just click on the globe.
And if you'd like to watch a couple more videos,
Matt did a great video where he asked the pros
why they slam their stems, that's just down there.
- Yeah, or a few years ago, Si had a look
into how you set your bike and stem up,
and you can find that video just down here.
- A few years ago. It goes back a bit now.
- Yeah, you looked really young.

What Are The Risk Factors For Getting Prediabetes? - Duration: 4:47.
Hello, I am Ty Mason of thediabetescouncil.com, researcher, writer and I have type 2 diabetes.
I want to emphasize that my perspective is coming from one with Type 2 and not Type 1.
Our channel is primarily for those with Type 2 Diabetes and PreDiabetes.
Today I want to answer the question What are the risk factors for getting prediabetes?
After you watch the video today, I invite you check out the description box for my new
ebook.
This is one of the most comprehensive diabetes meal planning book you can find.
It contains diabetes friendly meals/recipes, recipes for different goals such as 800-1800
calories per day meal plan, diabetes meal planning tips and tricks.
There are also tons of diabetes friendly recipes for everyone!
While some risk factors associated with prediabetes may be debated, there is some consensus among
many in the medical field on some.
What I am going to give you today is a list of risk factors compiled by a group of doctors,
dieticians and researchers for a presentation and later published in article form in Medical
News Today.
This is a very recent compilation and I feel is very well done.
I have long advocated that there is a genetic component to diabetes.
That is becoming more clear in many of the recent research I have done.
Many factors can contribute to the development of prediabetes.
Increasingly a link between genetics, family history, and prediabetes has been identified.
However, inactivity and excess belly fat are considered to be the most common and influential
causes of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
Risk factors for prediabetes include:
Being overweight or obese: The more fatty tissue that is present, the less sensitive
to glucose the cells become.
Excess fat around the abdominal region: For women, a waist size over 35 inches is linked
to a higher prevalence of prediabetes.
For men, a waist size over 40 inches is considered a risk.
Age: Prediabetes can develop in anyone of any age, but the risk of prediabetes is thought
to rise after the age of 45 years.
This may be due to inactivity, poor diet, and a loss of muscle mass, which typically
declines with age.
Diet: Excess carbohydrate, especially sweetened foods or beverages, can impair insulin sensitivity
over time.
Diets high in red or processed meats are also linked to the development of prediabetes.
Sleep patterns: People with obstructive sleep apnea have an increased risk of developing
prediabetes.
Family history: Having an immediate relative with type 2 diabetes significantly increases
the risk of developing the condition.
Stress: During periods of stress the body releases the hormone cortisol into the blood
stream, raising blood glucose levels.
People who experience long-term stress may have Cushing's syndrome, which can cause diabetes.
Gestational diabetes: Women who give birth to babies weighing 9 pounds or more may be
at a higher risk for prediabetes.
Women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy, and their children, are at a higher
risk of developing the condition.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): Women with PCOS are more susceptible to insulin resistance,
which can lead to prediabetes, or diabetes type 2.
Women with diabetes type 1 have a higher risk of PCOS.
Ethnicity: The risk of developing prediabetes tends to be higher for African-Americans,
Native Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, and Asian Americans.
The reason remains unclear.
Metabolic syndrome: When the impact of obesity, high blood pressure, high levels of triglycerides
("bad" fats) and low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL or "good" fats) combine,
insulin resistance can occur.
Metabolic syndrome is defined as the presence of three or more conditions that influence
metabolism.

What must you know about Goodness.. By Sheikh Salih Al-Maghamsi - Duration: 42:47.
The title of this lecture is; They are inviting to all that is good[Khair].
Allah, Almighty said, and His speech is the truth..
at Surat An-Nahl;
"And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?""
"They will say, "[That which is] good.""[Khair]
And we know that, what Allah has sent down is Al-Qur'an..
Allah said in His great Book, that wherein is reiteration in His Book.. [Mathani].
and the meaning of [Mathani] is..
that it consists of matters in pairs.. [a matter and its anti]
There are the mentioning of Jannah and of Fire..
there are the mentioning of Good[Khair] and of Evil..
there are the mentioning of the believers and of the disbelievers..
So, Allah, Almighty, mentioned in this Surah..
the answer of the disbelievers to His question, about what did their Lord send down?
"And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" They say, "Legends of the former peoples,""
They meant that Muhammad,SAW, came only with false allegations..
and a collection of information..
he had them from former people and old times..
That was the answer of the disbelievers!
"And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" They say, "Legends of the former peoples,""
i.e. from ancient people..
And the answer of the believers is also preserved in Qur'an
Allah, Almighty, said:
"And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good[Khaira]."
So, they've described the Qur'an and named it; Good[Khair].
and there is no book that is better than Al-Qur'an, ever
and Allah, Almighty, has instructed us to worship Him by reciting this Qur'an..
And at the end of time, the Qur'an will be taken up.. all of it, at one night!
and not a single verse that is left on Earth..
Now, and by a grace from Allah, that we praise Him for it,..
Muslims nowadays, they are living..
having the Qur'an within their reach!
Wherever you go.. to any Muslim country..
you will find the Qur'an in Masjids, bookstores..
and also in homes..
So, the believer must take from this before it is taken away!
before we die leaving Qur'an, or before it is taken away from us!
Though this is going to happen anyway.. but that will be at the end of time!
The point is that, Qur'an is a great Khair[ goodness]..
that is good for the person who recites it..
Khair for the person who reads it.. Khair for the person who interprets it..
Khair for the person who teaches it..
Khair for the person who learns it..
Khair for the person who carries out competitions with rewards.. that serves Qur'an..
Khair for the people who memorize Qur'an!
Every person who is committed to Qur'an, even as little as the weight of an atom..
he will have Khairan[ Goodness]!
because this speech is of the Lord of Dignity!
and this Book was revealed upon the best among the messengers of Allah; Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, SAW.
Allah said:
"Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish"
With whom do they trade?!.. with their Lord.
with the goodness that is brought to them from Allah.. the Qur'an
They worship Allah, Almighty with it..
Then Allah, Almighty said:
".. That He may give them in full their rewards and increase for them of His bounty.."
Why would he increase for them from His bounty?
".. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative."
He forgives mistakes, no matter how many they are!
and He rewards for good deeds, no matter how few they are!
because He, Almighty, is the most Merciful.
Blessed ladies and gentlemen, that was the first verse.
The second verse is.. Allah, Almighty, said:
"And whatever good[Khair] they do - never will it be removed from them."
Al-Qur'an is a fair Book
it gives each person, his rights..
So, after Allah has disapproved the Jews and Nasarah..
He, Almighty, said next:
".. They are not [all] the same.."
i.e. they are not all at the same level!
"They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture.. " i.e. the Jews and Nasarah..
".. is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer]."
"They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous."
Then the Lord of Dignity said:
"And whatever good[Khair] they do - never will it be removed from them.."
" And Allah is Knowing of the righteous."
And the rule here is; 'general in application, and not specific for a certain case'
i.e.
Any person..
who does good[Khairan].. as Ibadah or goodness to others!
Ibadah or charity..
with a pure intention, a sincere purpose..
any male or female..
then, Allah, Almighty, will not waste his/her effort..
The Lord of Dignity said, and it is the truth..
and He doesn't fail in His promise;
"Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.""
So, life is a racing track, and people are racing along it..
and the wise person..
knows that at the end, certainly, he will meet Allah!
and for that; he saves good work.. righteous deeds
looking forwards to meet Allah, Almighty, and certainly he will..
and then, he will find the rewards of his good deeds.. from whom?!
from the Lord of the worlds, Almighty!
Allah, Almighty, said about Jews and Nasarah..
"And whatever good they do - never will it be removed from them. "
So, what about the Ummah of Muhammad, SAW,?!
All the good that they do.. little or plenty..
big or trivial..
never will it be removed from them.. will not be a waste.. will not be in vain..
it will be preserved for them..
Then the Lord of Dignity said after that:
".. And Allah is Knowing of the righteous."
And this notion was realized by the Arabs..
even before having Islam
One of the poets of Jahiliyyah era; Obaid Ibn Al-Abras, he said:
'Good[Khair] lasts, irrespective of time.. and Evil is the worst sustenance to keep.'
And Al-Hutay'a said:
'Whoever does good[Khaira] will always get good.. it is a tradition that is not ignored, not by Allah and not by people.'
It is impossible that goodness [Al-Khair] is done for nothing!
So, where are those who would care to do plenty of Khair?!
Where are those who know for sure that they will meet Allah?!
and that wherever they put Khair, absolutely, they will find it ahead of them!
Allah, Almighty, said about His righteous allies:
and about His pious worshipers, may Allah make us all from them..
"And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,"
"[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah . We wish not from you reward or gratitude."
"Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful.""
"So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness".
So, our Lord said in that great verse, we were talking about:
"And whatever good [Khair], they do - never will it be removed from them. "
And the honest and trusted, SAW, said:
'I saw a man..
he was wandering freely in Jannah..
because he had cut a tree that was growing in the middle of the road..
and people were suffering because of its presence there'
So, because of that, the man is free in Jannah..
not because of doing precise acts of worshiping..
as Salat or Siyam, though they are great to do..
but, he, SAW, mentioned the reason..
'It is because a tree that he had cut off..
from the middle of the road,
It was forming an obstacle in front of people walking on that road!'.
So, that man found out that this tree, standing there, is making transportation harder for people, so, he removed it!
he had cut it off, as an act of goodness, for others..
believing that he will meet Allah.. the True Ilah!
and the prophet, SAW, saw that man.. and the man didn't know..
the man was wandering, freely, in Jannah..
because, if there was a road that is partially blocked by a tree, then a man comes and he removes that tree, people will be able to walk freely on that road!
wandering freely on that road, with no problems!
'The reward is of the same kind of the deed'
he removed the tree to make people able to wander freely on that road!
So, Al-Rahman, the Merciful, has rewarded him gardens of perpetual residence..
he waders inside it freely, as he wishes..
because, he had removed a tree that was blocking the road.
Now, in our lives, we can see many obstacles that are annoying people..
Allah, Almighy, is testing us by such issues.. and we can see them..
Do we make it easier for people.. simpler.. be kind to them..?!
If a person wishes to enter Jannah, he must be certain that this can happen by two great ways..
Tawheed[worshiping of Allah alone] Allah, the truth..
and doing goodness to other people.
Tawheed Allah, the truth..
and doing goodness to people.
Both were done by Moses, peace be upon him..
".. and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.""
After he watered the flocks for the two girls.
back to our verse; "And whatever good they do - never will it be removed from them. And Allah is Knowing of the righteous."
Another verse about [Al-Khair], a verse about the incident of [Ifk].. the falsehood.. Allah, Almighty said:
"Indeed, those who came with falsehood are a group among you. Do not think it bad[Shar] for you; rather it is good[Khair] for you."
Here, the word Khair[good] is paired with the word Shar[bad]
".. Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you."
and in other places in Qur'an, the word Khair is paired with the word; Dhur [adversity]..
Allah, Almighty, said:
"And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him. And if He touches you with good - then He is over all things competent."
here, we have adversity as opposite to Khair!
and in the previous verse, at Surat An-Nur, the word; khair was paired with the word; Shar[bad]
"Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you."
Man..
proceeds with his life..
and forcibly, he doesn't know the unseen..
our minds cannot grasp the unseen!
But we can follow leads and count upon the Victor.. the King..
And our Qadar might not be as we expect.. as we wish..
as we like..
So, if we submitted.. then, Allah, Almighty, will bring bounties after ordeals..
and Allah will bring all that we want after passing the hardships..
and the beauty that we love, after fears..
that, if we were patient..
and, Allah, Almighty, taught us how to be so, at the end of Surat Hud.. Allah, Almighty, said:
"And to Allah belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth.."
".. and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him.. ".
What did brothers of Yusuf do?!
in order to deprive him of prosperity..
it was the same exact action that..
lead him to his final leading position.. by the will of Allah!
And, Aziz of Egypt has put Yusuf in jail..
that was the will of Allah..
so as to make this prison a cause for..
bringing Yusuf to his final destiny.
So, man doesn't know where is the goodness[Al-Khair].
The Lord of Dignity said:
"Do not think it bad for you; rather it is good for you."
So, if you submit to the will of Allah and to His Qadar..
then, Allah, Almighty, will bring Khair to you..
The Lord of Dignity said: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out"
"And will provide for him from where he does not expect. "
Allah, Almighty has created our father; Adam..
then He created our mother Hawa from his rib..
that he might dwell in security with her.
and He said to him; dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise..
that is what men are to have.. they might find tranquility in their wives..
Allah said: "and He placed between you affection and mercy."
Man may hate..
his wife.. for some reason..
Allah, Lord of Dignity, said:
'.. And live with them in kindness"
the way people are accustomed to be with their wives..
talking nicely..
and ignoring what is not approved..
let her hear from you what she likes to hear..
as she has to let you hear what you like to her from her..
"And live with them in kindness.."
Then He, Almighty said: "For if you dislike them.. "
i.e. you've felt that you, somehow, hate your wife..
Then, He, Lord of Dignity, said:
".. perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good[Khairan]."
"perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good."
i.e. perhaps this woman, that you couldn't love her very much..
may conceive from you and give birth of a child that he would be a comfort of the eye for you!
a young-man who would be influential..
in Deen and Dunyah..
for the country and for Ummah..
And he might be the best among your children..
when you are old.. weak.. with bent back.. and gray hair..
he is the son of that woman..
whom, one day, you didn't like to see her!
and maybe, one day, Allah may put love and kindness, in her heart.
By time people may change..
and Dunyah may affect them with its problems..
maybe then, Allah would put affection and kindness in her heart for you..
then she begins treating you nicely, till you are with your Lord.
Allah says.. and that is true, and He is always saying the truth..
"perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good[Khairan]."
So, what we need here.. is to accept our destiny[Qada and Qadar] that is from Allah, Almighty..
These were verses in which the word; Khair was mentioned.
Allah said:
"O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good[Khaira] - that you may succeed."
doing good here..
came after doing Ibadat.. after Salat..
which is the meaning of; bow and prostrate.
So, doing good[Khair] here is a general term.. for..
being good to others..
lowering the gaze..
charity..
cease harming..
helping people in disasters..
assisting the needy..
all these are part of the command from our Lord, Almighty; ".. and do good[Khair]".
This speech is directed to nations..
to countries..
to rulers..
to scholars..
to public people..
everyone is commanded by Islamic religion to do Khair[Goodness]..
to spread goodness around himself..
and we must implant Khair inside people..
and to begin with, we must implant goodness inside ourselves.
And to turn into good men[Akhiara], and good women..
it is better to begin by building ourselves..
to be healthy from inside..
loving goodness..
having a kind heart.
Our prophet, SAW, said: 'The believer is easy and soft..'
he loves Khair for others..
he is happy when Muslims have prosperity in their countries..
Ibn Abbas, may Allah put mercy upon them, he said:
'By Allah, when I hear that it is raining at some Muslim lands..
I would feel happy for them, though I don't have a single livestock grazing there.'
i.e. I'm not benefiting from that!
I don't have livestock grazing at that land..
but, I know that Muslims there will benefit from that rain..
so, I will feel happy for them.
'.. And I pass by the verse in the Book of Allah, then Allah opens knowledge for me from that verse, then I wish that Allah would open this upon every Muslim.'
This is an example of how people love Khair for others..
And, in the opposite, I seek refuge with Allah..
Some people are.. [you are away, in exception of that]..
.. holding only hatred and envy in his heart
he doesn't want goodness for others and he doesn't wish it for them..
such person is very far away from the guidance of Qur'an and from the teachings of our messenger, SAW..
The point is..
to do what Allah, Almighty, has commanded us to do..
"O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good - that you may succeed.".
Allah, Almighty, said about His righteous worshipers:
"And We made them leaders guiding by Our command.. "
".. And We inspired to them the doing of good[khairat] deeds,"
".. establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshipers of Us."
So, sometimes Ibadah is called; Khair..
as the good deeds are called; Khair.. so, it is a general term..
And those who want to be leaders, and people look up to them as examples..
and follow their footsteps.
They must speed up to do Khairat, in all domains..
at all places and fields..
so that, all Muslims would benefit from your Khair..
and the Non-Muslims would be impressed by your Khair..
and maybe a person would accept this Deen because of that!
that you are representing by Dawa.
But, if the person.. I seek refuge with Allah..
if the person strives to spread corruption on Earth..
and to shed blood..
then it is impossible that people would accept his beliefs.. his Dawa!
And a bigger crime is that..
a person who spreads corruption on Earth and sheds blood.. then he relates this to Deen.. I seek refuge with Allah!
the religion that Allah told us about his messenger, saying;
"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds."
Such person will add [ I seek refuge with Allah] disappointment to disgrace, and falsification of the Deen, over falsehood..
The prophet, SAW, said:
'Whoever stands against my Ummah.. killing them all, the good and the bad.. and not trying to avoid the believers..
not trying to fulfill the covenants..
then, he is not from me and I'm not from him!'
i.e. the messenger of Allah, SAW, is disassociated from such person!
Now, we will talk about the word; Khair as it was narrated, about the honest and trusted prophet, SAW..
Salat Al-Fajr is a form of Ibadah, to worship Allah..
and it is the greatest Salat..
And in Hadith Sahih it was narrated that the prophet, SAW, said:
'The greatest Salat, counted by the Lord of the words, is Fajr Salat of Fridays, with Jama'a [group]!'.
'The greatest Salat counted by the Lord of the words is Fajr Salat of Fridays, with Jama'a [in a group]!'.
The Nafilah Salat that we do before Fajr Salat is called; 'The two Raka'at of Fajr'
Umm Al-Momineen Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her and please her..
she was living in the place of the prophet, SAW, where he died..
So, she could observe him, SAW, the best among husbands..
She said about him:
'I never saw him more prompt to do Khair than to do the two Raka'at of Fajr'.
She was talking about the two Raka'at that are to be prayed before Salat Fajr'
that is, he ,SAW, immediately after the end of Adhan, and saying the usual Dua'a after it..
he begins the two Raka'at of Fajr.. the Sunnah of Fajr [Raghibah of Fajr]
before Salat Fajr
'I never saw him more prompt to do Khair than to do ..'.
So, she, may Allah be pleased with her and please her, called 'the two Raka'at of Fajr' as; Kairan..
'I never saw him more prompt to do Khair than to do the two Raka'at of Fajr'.
Then, let's take about graves..
graves are residences.. Al-Barzakh dwelling
the first dwelling of Akhira..
these graves..
when man begins his residence there, he is shown all the work that he did in his previous life.
It was narrated in Hadith Sahih..
'.. a young-man will come to him, he is nice looking and neat in wear..
having a pleasant scent..'
So, the dead man will say to that young-man..
'Who are you?..
as I feel that your face will bring Al-Khair..
[We are here to notice this word; Al-Khair]
as I feel that your face will bring Al-Khair.'
Now, this dead person is in his grave..
with his body and his soul
and suddenly he sees a comer!!
nicely dressed.. and it is a graveyard!
his face is nice..
with a pleasant fragrance..
So, he is wondering, as he is expecting Goodness[Al-Khair] from what he is seeing..
'.. as I feel that your face will bring Al-Khair..
Then that young-man will say to him; 'I'm your good deeds.''
This is how the good deeds will appear in graves..
as a young-man who is nice looking and neat in wear.. having a pleasant scent..
and he is called; Khair!
.. your face will bring Al-Khair..
Then that young-man will say to his fellow; 'I'm your good deeds.''
We all live with neighbors around us..
and your neighbors..
are the most knowing about your secrets, among people....
and they know most of your issues..
So, their testimony about you, cannot be neglected.. ignored!
He, SAW, said:
'each Muslim, who dies..
then four of his close neighbors.. [who live in houses that are the closest to his house]
would testify that they know nothing about him except Khairan..
then Allah, Almighty will say..
'I approve their testimony..
on what they know about him..
and I forgive him concerning what they don't know about him!'.
So, when four neighbors of a believer testify..
neighbors who live close to his house..
and they testify that this neighbor..
is characterized by Khairiah.. [goodness].
that he never hurts them..
never quarrels with them..
never denies their rights..
is never aggressive with them verbally or physically..
And he never hurts others.. all his life.
So, when they are asked, they tell what they know about him!
and man is not required to do more than this!
Then, the Lord of Dignity will say, and He has more mercy to you than your neighbors have..
He will say; I approve their testimony, about what they know!
So, He will accept their testimony..
and by this acceptance, the Lord will reward His servant as this testimony applies!
as they've said; ' we only know Khairan[goodness] about him'.
then what is left after that are small matters, that are only known to you and your Lord!
things that no one knows about them.. neither your neighbors nor your relatives..
and we all carry mistakes..
may Allah forgive us all!
So, the Lord of Dignity will say;
'I approve their testimony on what they know about him.. and I forgive him concerning what they don't know about him!'.
i.e. about the matters that they don't know.. about this servant!
I've forgiven him.
That was about the word; Khair as narrated from our prophet, SAW.
Our mother, Umm Al-Momineen Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her and please her..
She was once out with our prophet, SAW, in a battle..
at Ghazwati Bani Al-Mustaliq..
Man doesn't know where is Khair!!
nor he knows the unseen!!
She went out looking for something..
she went far.. then she came back..
but, the army has moved on..
she figured that they will soon notice her absence, and they will come back for her..
So, she sat under a tree.
Safwan Ibn Al-Mu'attel was an honorable sahabi, with the army of the Muslims..
He was a kind of man who sleeps a lot..
as some people who find it hard to get up from sleeping!
that is an irresistible habit of them.
So, Safwan was sleeping.. and when he woke up.. he didn't find the army!
and he noticed someone sitting under a tree not very far from him..
So, he went to the tree..
He saw our mother, Umm Al-Momineen Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her and please her..
Allah inspired him to say;
'We are from Allah, and we will be back[Rajioon] to Him.'
He knew that he will be tested soon due to this incident!
and that people will not let him go away after this..
and will not let her, either.
But, he was inspired to say that statement.. [Yastarj'a]
He knew that a disastrous event is coming..
And because Allah wanted to guide him, he inspired him to say Isterja'a before the problem begins.. so, he said: 'We are from Allah, and we will be back[Rajioon] to Him.'
he brought his ride close to her..
and Umm Al-Momineen sat on it..
and Safwan pulled the animal..
after the army..
The army stopped after some time to rest..
before they reach Al-Madinah..
and people were busy with their stuff..
all men and women..
and the prophet, SAW, was with them..
Then they saw a man coming to their site carrying a woman on his ride..
Abdullah Ibn Ubai saw them coming..
he was with the army men at that time..
So, he saw Safwan and Umm Al-Momineen; Ayesha..
The inspiration to Safwan was to say: 'We are from Allah, and we will be back[Rajioon] to Him.'
this is for hearts that is tied to Allah..
But Abdullah Ibn Ubai was hypocritical in his heart..
and being a hypocritical person, his heart is not tied to Allah!
So, seeing them together he said:
'The woman of your prophet is with a stranger..
by Allah, she is not clear from him, and he is not clear from her!'
Then the incident of Ifk[the falsehood] happened as we know..
Then the prophet, SAW, being a wise man, he inquired to put thing in place.. before giving his decision..
So, when he asked, he was told about Ayesha; 'She is your family..
and what we know about her is Good[ Khaira].'
This answer..
is an example for us, for this Ummah.. how to answer when we are asked about one another..
When a woman is asked about another woman..
When a man is asked about another man..
Of course, when you consult..; 'The consultant is a trusted person.'.
and if you know something for sure..
and you know that this person..
is consulting you, not for the purpose of oppressing others, unjustly..
but he is consulting you to protect himself..
you have the right to say all that you know..
But if the person, asking you, he wants to be assaultive on Earth, don't give him a response..
you are not obliged to answer his question..
But, if the case was about marriage..
about hiring someone..
about looking for someone who is trustworthy..
Here, you need to tell the whole truth..
even thought it might look like backbiting.
So, the people who answered the prophet, SAW, they said: 'It is about your family..
and what we know about this is Good[ Khaira].'
[Here we are studying the word; Khair in the Book of Allah and in Sunnah of the prophet, SAW.].
To speak more about consulting..
The believer..
is dealing with Allah not with people..
Ziyad Ibn Abeeh..
was one of the princes of Bani Umayyah..
He was bloody.. shedding blood with his sword..
He kills them both, together.. the guilty and the innocent..
the righteous and the wicked
and he doesn't mind..
Who did he kill.. How many Muslims did he kill?
He was assigned by Muawiya, may Allah forgive him, at Iraq..
So, he was aggressive with the people of Iraq.. and he humiliated them
Then he wrote a letter to Muawiya: 'O Ameer of Mumineen..
you've assigned me at Iraq, and now I have them in the fist of my left hand..
and my right hand is empty..
so, assign me at Hijaz too.'
At that time, Abdullah Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and with his father, was living at Hijaz..
and he was told that Ziyad wants to rule Hijaz too..
he said:
'Allahumma, protect us from the right hand of Ziyad, the way You wish.'
So, Ziyad was infected with plague, in his right finger..
and from there it was spread to his whole hand..
and the doctors told him that he needed to amputate the infected hand!
So, he consulted the judge; Shurayh..
Ziyad asked Shurayh, the judge, for his opinion!
Shurayh was hating Ziyad..
But, now he is consulting him..
So, he said to him: 'O Ameer..
'If Allah has destined that you live longer..' i.e. after amputating his right hand..
'.. I would hate that you walk among people without having a right hand!
.. and if Allah has destined that you die after that..
.. I would hate that you meet Allah without your hand!.'
then, Allah would ask you where is your hand?
and you would say;'I've cut it to escape your Qada'a!'.'
Bottom line, Shurayh didn't advise him to amputate the hand..
whatever the outcome of that.. living or dying..
So, Ziyad died..
at the same night..
without amputating the hand, as he was advised by Shurayh.
Then, people knew the story..
and that Ziyad has died..
So, as now they were relieved, and they felt secure from his nemesis..
they went to Shurayh to blame him.. for his advise!
i.e. we wished that he was dead with his hand amputated..
So, when they rebuked Shurayh, he said: 'I swear by Allah..
If it was up to me..
I would prefer that they amputate a part of his body, each day.. as I hated him so much..
but he has consulted me.. and 'the consultant is trusted.'
'the consultant is trusted.' is a Hadith.
that was narrated from the prophet, SAW, with Sahih Sanad..
He, SAW, said: 'the consultant is trusted.'
The point of telling you this historical story..
is that; The believer..
must be aware of Allah, Almighty, in all that he says..
when dealing with his enemies, before, with dealing with his friends..
with the remote before the near..
with everyone..
".. and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just."
".. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. "
The last verse..
and this is in summary of what we've said..
Allah, Almighty, said:
"inviting to [all that is] good [Khair]"
This verse tells us, how it should be.. within our nation..
that there should be leaders and scholars..
Princes, Rulers, Sheikhs and people of charity and benevolence..
They invite to Khair..
The word Khair here represents a general term..
for all that is beneficial for Deen.. and Dunyah
If we..
all of us are motivating each others, to do Khair and to cherish it
to establish it..
then, we are doing Khair, by the will of Allah..
Because, when Khair is widespread among a nation..
bounties and benevolence will be prevalent among its people..
and they will be recognized for that..
and the outcome of that will be a great Khair, that will involve them all.
because, the word Khair itself is a word that is appealing to the soul..
and all rational people want to do it..
and it is demanded by everyone..
and it is the hope that everyone is expecting from righteous people.
But, we must know that..
at Dunyah..
it is impossible to have pure Khair.. without a defect..
same as it is impossible to have pure Shar[evilness], without an error..
"They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. "
"But their sin is greater than their benefit."
Where can we find the pure Khair?.. At Jannah..
and Where can we find the pure Shar?
that doesn't have Khair at all.. At Hellfire!
this is how Allah, Almighty, made Jannah..
may Allah admits us all into it..
He made it as a residence of pure Khair and luxury..
without the weight of an atom, of wickedness..
And He made Hellfire, may Allah protects us all from it..
a place of wickedness..
without, even the weight of an atom, of goodness[Khair]..
So, Jannah is the home of khairat..
and the greatest Khair therein is the approval of Allah..
and the pleasure of looking at His Glorified Face!
This pure Khair..
is, sometimes, mentioned in Qur'an, and it is paired with the pure Shar..
but here the word Khairan [better] is not for comparative purposes..
"Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous?"
because, definitely, at Hellfire, there is no khair.. at all
So, the meaning is that; Helfire has no Khair at all..
and that all khair is at the Garden of Eternity.
And for the..
believers, men and women..
to deserve being in Jannah..
they must be.. inside themselves..
have Khair, that is implanted in their hearts..
and the greatest Khair is Tawheed[The oneness of Allah, Almighty]
So, the person who have Tawheed of Allah, the belief[Iman] and the submission to Him..
submission to Deen of Allah..
and accepting Him, Almighty..
with Iman that He is the only Ilah and nothing other than Him to be worshiped.
This is the key to everything that is Khair.
So, if the person is..
having great belief[Iman] in his Lord..
then, Allah, Almighty, will make him a key for Khair,
The prophet, SAW, said:
'Among you..
there are people who are keys.. opening of Khair and closing of Shar
and there are people who are closing of Khair and opening of Shar
So. blessedness for those who are to open Khair and to close Shar.
Sometimes, man is..
asked..
told..
requested..
pleaded..
and if Allah, Almighty, wanted to guide him to do Khairat, he will do them.
People say; 'Better than Khair, is its doer!'
And the prophet, SAW..
a man came to him, he said: 'O prophet of Allah, my animal has died.. so, carry me!'
i.e. give me an animal to ride.. for transport.
But, the prophet, SAW, couldn't find him a ride..
then a man said: 'O messenger of Allah, I know a man who would carry him.
i.e. would give him an animal for ride..
Then the prophet, SAW, said: 'The person who guides to Khair is like the person who does it.'
So, Muslims can race, to help others find Khair..
You may not be able to do the job yourself..
but you know that there are good people who are willing to do this khair..
So, you can show people in need,
the poor, the widows and the orphans..
where to go to get Khair..
then you will have a reward that is similar to the reward that is given to the person who did Al-Khair itself..
because, the prophet, SAW, said: 'The person who guides to Khair is like the person who does it.'
This is to understand the saying of Allah, Almighty:
" They are inviting to [all that is] good[Khair]".
So, if the Ummah consists of good people..
its Sheikhs, Princes and Rulers..
They are inviting to all that is good[Khair], they show it to each other
then it is expected that they will have khair, have success..
have victory, have triumph..
at Dunya and Akhirah.
Our Book is the greatest..
and our Sunnah is the most complete..
And as we've seen, both of them, the Qur'an and the Sunnah, both are guiding worshipers to do Khairat..
as we've explained.. in the previous verses..
and in the previous Sahih of Hadiths.. of the messenger of Allah, SAW..
and we've explained that the true pure Khair is inside the Gardens of Pleasure..
Talking about Jannah, people like to hear more about it..
and the companions of the prophet, SAW, often asked him about it
And the prophet, SAW, said to them: 'It is made of a block of gold and a block of silver..
and its Melat, is of Musk that has a strong scent.'
and Al-Melat, [mortar] is the material that is used to join the blocks.
and this is how people build..
they put a certain material to join the bricks together.. as a lute.
When the Khalil of Allah, Ibrahim, may peace from Allah be upon him, was building Al-Kaaba..
he had built it using stones that are layered[Munadadah]..
i.e. without [Melat] a material to hold the stones together.
and Allah, Almighty, used this word [Mandude], to describe the fruits..
that are stacking up without a material in between them..
and this is mentioned to describe two fruits..
the dates..
and the banana fruits..
As we can see today..
one date is next to the other date..
there is nothing in between them.. on the tree
and the banana fruit is next to the other banana without a material in between them.. on the tree..
Allah said:
"And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]"
i.e. the banana fruits are layered.. they are not sticked together..
"And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers"
When the Khalil of Allah, Ibrahim, was building Al-Kaaba..
He built it using stones that are arranged in layers.. they are not sticked together with a substance in between them..
But, at Jannah..
the prophet, SAW, said that: 'It is made of a block of gold and a block of silver..
and its Melat, is of Musk that has a strong scent..
and its gravel is of pearls and Rubies..
who enters in it, will be in prosperity and will never be depressed.'..
i.e. there is no Shar in Jannah, totally..
'.. who enters in it, will be in prosperity and will never be depressed..
and he will live there for eternity, and he will never die..
.. their youth will not fade and their clothes will not wear out.'
All of that was about the pleasures of Jannah..
and so, it is the pure Khair..
And we also ask for other kinds of Khair that is not up to the level of Jannah..
so, it has some impurities.. a little bit dingy..
This is how it is in Dunya.. it is not perfect for anyone.. not for you and hot for others!
So, train yourself to say[Isterja'a]..
that is to say; ['We are from Allah, and we will be back[Rajioon] to Him.]
In the biography of our prophet, SAW..
He kissed the forehead of Jafar when he came back from Habesha..
and he was there for years..
they were away from each other from the time when the prophet, SAW, was at Makkah
So, they were back together at the seventh year.. the year of Khyber
He said: 'I don't know which is making me more happy, the coming back of Jafar or the victory of Khyber.'
and he kissed the forehead of Jafar, between his eyes..
that was at the seventh year of Hijrah
then, at the eighth year..
Jafar was martyred.
The prophet, SAW, didn't enjoy his presence for more than one year!
So, he stood on Minbar.. and he cried..
he was at his Masjid, crying and people were around him..
he was crying.. Jafar, Zaid and Abdullah Ibn Rawaha, may Allah be pleased with them and please them
This is how Dunya..
But, the true pleasure is ..
when we meet Allah!
"O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it."
Keep on saving with Allah, Almighty.. good savings.. Taqwa.. Salah.. Dhikr..
then, at the end of your time..
when you are close to die..
when you are attacked by illness..
when your back is bending..
when your hair is becoming gray..
When you are suffering from a disease that has no cure with doctors..
when you feel that this is the end, and you are going to leave this Dunya..
Then You can remember..
the good deeds that you were saving.
These good deeds are like motivators..
to meet Allah, Almighty..
Umm Al-Mumineed,Ayesha said to the messenger of Allah, SAW: 'We are.. all of us.. are afraid from death.'
He said: 'O Ayesh, it is not like this!
.. the person who loves to meet Allah..
Allah will love to meet him!
.. the person who loves to meet Allah..
Allah will love to meet him.'
Who does love to meet Allah?
he is the person who feels more likely..
.. that he is to find the rewards of his deeds with Allah..
So, the greater is the good deed that the righteous servant is saving in this Dunya..
the more he loves to meet Allah.
because, he wants to see the rewards of his work..
So, he will greatly love the day that he is to meet Allah.
You may hate death..
no one can blame you..
this is natural.. an instinct..
we all hate death..
But, when you know that death is happening, no escape from it..
as in the case of having a terminal illness..
in this case, man must think first, of the great thing that he knows..
about the Mercy of the Most Merciful..
'No one will enter Jannah because of his work.' they said: 'even you, messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Even me! unless that Allah would grant me His Mercy.'
The greatest thing that we can save with Allah, is our good assumption, our view about Allah,Almighty..
the good-regarding, of your Lord..
this is the greatest thing that you can save for yourself..
till you are with Allah!
I have one narration, though some scholars have an opinion about it..
In Sanad, it was said..
that a man was to be sent the Fire..
then he looks behind saying: 'O Lord..
by Allah, that wasn't my thinking about You!'..
then, Allah, Almighty will say..
'Take My slave to Jannah!'
the good expectation.. about Allah, Almighty..
is in all that we have in Dunyah.. they oblige us to think this way!
with good- regarding of Allah, Almighty!
I swear by Allah, that we could obey Him only by His guidance..
and we could fast only by His ability and His power!
and we were granted Islam, only by His grace.. generosity.. favor..
and our feet couldn't have taken us to Masjids and at Juma'a[Fridays] an Jama'at[Salat in a group]..
only by His favor and bounty..
and we couldn't have moved our tongues in Dhikr..
and reciting Qur'an, and reading it..
only by His help..
And if it is His will, He would have misguided us!
But, He granted us guidance and bestowed us success..
For all of that..
we are obliged, by our bodies and our souls, to think good..
about our Lord, Exalted His Name and dignified His Attributes.
No doubts, that all the Khair that we have is only from Allah..
"Say, "O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will.."
"and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will."
"In Your hand is [all] good[Khair]."
Though, He, Almighty, has both Khair and Shar in His Hand..
But, linguistically, this expression is for sufficiency.
the expressed word tells about the hidden word and there is no need to express it.
"In Your hand is [all] good[Khair]."
So, here, Allah has mentioned Al-Khair, but He didn't mention As-Shar..
because, souls want Al-Khair..
wish to have it..
And all good is in the Hand of Allah..
It is narrated in Hadith, in Dua'a..
In the etiquette of the Muslim Dua'a..
' All good is in Your Hands, and As-Shar is not to You'
This is what I could prepare and tell you about..
And pardon me if I failed to say what ought to be said or prolonged the lecture..
as all that I wanted is goodness[Khair] as much as possible..
And I ask Allah, Almighty, for us all to be surrounded with tranquility..
under the shade of Angels..
and have with Allah, a righteous deed and a good ending.
I Glorify You, Lord of Dignity, from that they attribute to You..
And Salam be upon messengers of Allah.. and All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

River
Now the dead body of a federal agent was just pulled from the Potomac River on Wednesday,
with a startling tie to the infamous queen of murder, Hillary Clinton.
Now another State employee by the name of Kurt Smolek is dead, and his possible ties
to PizzaGate and Hillary's child traffic ring is starting to be questioned.
Up until 2015, Smolek had worked for the Hillary Clinton State Dept in Cambodia as an OSAC
Diplomatic Security Agent.
The location where Smolek was stationed was a hot spot of this type of illegal activity,
and it's possible that he had been privy to some damning information on Hillary Clinton.
While it can't be confirmed exactly if Smolek had dirt on Hillary Clinton, one investigator
by the name of George Webb is putting the pieces together as he searches for clues in
Washington D.C. where Smolek's body was pulled from the river.
Before Whisenant got the opportunity to reveal possible evidence that could bring down the
entire DNC, his dead body washed up on a beach in Broward County, the VERY SAME COUNTY where
Kurt Smolek lived.
As soon as news of Smolek's untimely and mysterious death hit the news on Wedneday, investigators
began piecing together what they knew on a blog-type website called voat.

RMDs | What You Need to Know to Avoid the Penalty | Dustin Javier CFP - Duration: 8:28.
Today we're going to talk about our RMDs, Required Minimum Distributions from your
retirement accounts. We'll go over what they are, what you need to know and how
to avoid the dreaded 50% penalty. Stay tuned...
Hi everyone, it's Noel B. Lorenzana, Registered CPA and I'm here with Dustin
Javier, Certified Financial Planner. Founder and President of Dean Johnson
Advisory with offices in Bartlett and Downers Grove, Illinois. Welcome, Dustin!
Thanks for coming out today. Could you please tell us a little about yourself and your
company. Yes of course. First off thanks Noel for having me on
today, very excited about our topic of discussion
I work as what you call an independent Certified Financial Planner. Independent
meaning that I'm not handcuffed or forced to use one investment company over another.
The Certified Financial Planner is the highest standard in the advising
profession. Not all advisors are created equally. I'm what you call a fiduciary
advisor, legally obligated to act in my clients best interests. My firm works
specifically with medical professionals and business owners across the country
in the areas of retirement and college savings plans. Okay great. Just so you all
know, I personally work with Dustin for my money management and he does an
outstanding job. By the way, I'm with Lorenzana Tax and Accounting
Services with offices located in Morton Grove and Chicago Illinois. Today we wanted
to talk about the unexciting, but very important topic of RMDs. Required
Minimum Distributions. Basically, if you're over the age of 70 1/2, the
IRS, Internal Revenue Service, requires that you withdraw a minimum amount from your
retirement accounts based on your age and other factors or face steep penalties
of 50 percent. This is very serious. Absolutely, RMDs are a very serious subject.
Especially for all the baby boomers out there today. December 31st is
the hard deadline for taking the appropriate RMD, or you face the 50% IRS
penalty. This means if you have retirement plans like a 401(k), 403(b), 457, TSP or even
IRA, you need to make sure you're taking the
correct distribution amount by that year-end deadline. Generally the first RMD
is due to be withdrawn by April 1st of the year after you turn 70 1/2.
The second RMD is due to be withdrawn subsequent years by December 31st,
unless notified otherwise by the IRS. Interestingly the RMD amount increases
every year, so the amount you need to withdraw from your 401(k) or IRA increases every
year. Can tell us why that is? Right, the reason for that is RMD tables are
based on life expectancy rates. The older you get of course the greater the chance
of you passing away. Now as a result the IRS requires more money to be
withdrawn as you get older. If you think about it, we defer taxes most of our
lives inside 401(k)'s and or IRAs. RMDs are away for the IRS to start
collecting simply what hasn't been taxed just yet. Good point, the 50% penalty is
really scary. Here's a real-world example to get your attention. If you're retired
and over age 70 1/2 and you didn't withdraw your required minimum
distribution of say $10,000 dollars from your IRA. You'll be assessed a
penalty of $5,000 on your tax return. In addition, you'll have to
withdraw the missed distribution amount and pay taxes on the distribution. The 50%
penalty is the highest penalty in the IRS tax code so plan accordingly.
Dustin, can you talk about how this affects individuals from a financial planning
point of view? Of course, from a financial planning standpoint this steep penalty
really RMDs in general, may subject you to longevity risk otherwise known as the
risk of running out of money in retirement. A standard rule of thumb our
team preaches is to withdraw no more than three and a half percent of your
portfolio. What's interesting is because the RMD increases each year, without
proper planning a retiree may be forced to take more than 4% of their accounts
by 73 years old or at 79 over 5% of their portfolio. Ultimately putting
stress on the portfolio savings, running the risk of running out of money in your
golden years. In my experience the fund manager
usually helps to determine the appropriate required minimum
distribution, but as you're well aware that's not always the case. Why is
that? That's right. Surprisingly retirement account
custodians don't always calculate this RMD for you, for whatever reason. Basically,
it's the responsibility of the taxpayer or the account owner to make sure
they're accurately crunching the numbers, determining that correct RMD amount.
And this is a big reason why our team is busy especially this time of year as we
approach this year-end deadline, helping retirees calculate the RMD and
strategizing which accounts they need to do this from. Interesting, in your
experience what are some other problems you see retirees face? Great question,
a big problem we see with many retirees, is that they may have multiple retirement
accounts which is very common today as people switch jobs throughout their
careers. In that case, you need to make sure you're taking into account all your
retirement balances to determine the correct distribution amount. This is why
it's important to have a dedicated CFP like myself and a dedicated CPA like
yourself Noel, to really have someone on your team monitoring all your
accounts and giving you that big picture overview. And most importantly
helping you ensure you're taking the RMDs when you need to. We often find many
people agree with us that RMD planning isn't one of those
do-it-yourself projects that you may want to risk trying.
I completely agree, RMD planning is not something you should do on your own
What are some of the other ways you help your clients manage the RMD issue
and avoid costly penalties? Sure, my team and I we help aggregate the retirement
accounts for an individual based on the type to carefully withdraw your RMDs
properly. For example, if you have three old IRAs, Individual retirement
accounts, that person is able to aggregate the balances of all three, take
the RMD from just one of those accounts. Now it's a completely different
story with old 401(k) plans. For old 401(k) plans you need to make sure you're taking
the distribution from all the old 401s, otherwise you
run the risk of that 50% penalty. And lastly our team wants to make sure
people are proactive with their RMD planning, we help evaluate Roth 401(k)s,
Roth IRAs and even Roth conversions with the idea being the Roth IRA it's not
subject to these RMDs that were talking about. That's really helpful Dustin, thank
you. By the way if you or anyone you know got assessed with the 50% penalty, I may be
able to help you get the penalty removed and even refunded if you already paid the
penalty, but you need to contact me directly to examine your specific
situation. Thanks everyone, we hope you found the
information helpful. If you have any questions or comments please leave them
below or contact us directly. We appreciate you watching, hope you found
this video very helpful for today if you would like to reach me, my numbers at:

Don't hesitate to reach out, get a no-cost second opinion and once again
thanks Noel for having me on today. Dustin, thank you so much for being here.

with your RMD questions. If you would like to reach me, my telephone number is

What I Ate + Did on My Birthday | my vegan birthday - Duration: 6:53.
So we're leaving New York City and we're headed to the Hudson Valley for my
birthday and I'm really excited. It's the big 30, and I can't wait to show you what
I'm doing for my birthday.
Ahh, just going to sit in my old-timey chair on the porch.
Maybe have some wine.
You're drinking water.
I'm drinking water. You're right - this is just
water. There's no wine yet - we're going to get wine.
But I thought it would look cool, so.
So it's Saturday morning. We are going to the animal sanctuary today and for a little hike.
And so I'm making breakfast.
And I bought some oats.
Just like this single-serving container and I'm gonna cook it in some almond-coconut blend milk and a banana.
And I'm weird so I brought my own cinnamon because I love cinnamon.
So, I'm just gonna add these oats to the pan.
I have one mashed banana in there as well.
And then I'm going to add maybe about a cup of milk.
I don't have a measuring cup so I'm gonna kinda just use this as my guide.
How do you turn on the stove?
This is a video, Andy.
Is it?
I thought it was just a photo!
Brother-in-law.
One of my favorite things to do when I visit the Hudson Valley is to go to the
Ferncliff Forest in Rhinebeck. It's a quiet beautiful forest with light
streaming in.It's really peaceful and it's especially gorgeous in the fall
when the leaves are changing color. At the end of the hike, which is a really
easy hike by the way, there's a fire tower that you climb up. And it leads
to breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley, so definitely recommend it if
you're in the area.
One of the highlights of my birthday weekend was having dinner at the
Garden Cafe, an all vegan restaurant in Woodstock, New York. My sweet sister
called the chef a month in advance to ask them to custom make a cake based on
one of my own cake recipes and they made a chocolate mousse cake with raspberry
jam and Oreos. I can honestly say it was one of the best cakes I've ever had and
it was such a cool experience. For dinner we split a bunch of different dishes, but
of course I was too hungry to remember to film them, so here's one of the dishes
we took home for leftovers. It was a spicy pepper crusted tofu with
polenta and avocado mousse and we also split an incredible veggie lasagna, some
pasta and quesadillas. If you're ever in the Woodstock area, the Garden Cafe is a must try.
So we're at Catskill Animal Sanctuary here in the Hudson Valley, and
it's an animal sanctuary where animals who were previously abused have been
rescued and they get to live a free life without any cruelty and they get to roam
around and play with each other and they're adorable. And we had some vegan
food earlier here. And just showing my friends some of the animals here and I'm
really excited to go on a tour.
After the animal sanctuary, we ate lunch at Diego's Taqueria in Kingston, New York.
I didn't film the food we ate because it was really dark and I was a
little preoccupied with something else.
But the tacos were incredible and they have a couple vegan option so it's
definitely worth the visit.
So, we have some dark chocolate from the little chocolate
shop in town. It's covered in sea salt and almonds and it's 100% vegan and
I'm really excited for it.

NBC Got Weinstein Scoop First, What They Did Next Is UNFORGIVABLE - Duration: 20:54.
NBC Got Weinstein Scoop First, What They Did Next Is UNFORGIVABLE
Earlier this week, Hollywood mega producer Harvey Weinstein got hit with multiple sexual
assault allegations — then the New Yorker published an EXTREMELY chilling video that
all but confirmed Weinstein's guilt.
Weinstein's transgressions became even more scandalous when his ties to several high profile
democrats were revealed.
At one point, he even hosted a birthday party for Hillary Clinton.
But that might not be the most fascinating part of the story.
According to CNN, NBC had the Weinstein scoop months ago… and they did NOTHING.
NBC contributor Ronan Farrow was relentlessly pursuing leads when NBC told him bury the
story.
"Ronan was basically told to stop working on this," an anonymous source told CNN.
It's easy to see why the liberal network — who runs MSNBC — wanted the news item
to go away.
As we've seen, the revelation has been a PR disaster for Democrats.
But you can't hide a liberal's hypocricy forever.
Like with Bill Clinton, the truth will eventually come out… even without help from the mainstream
media.
Do you think NBC buried the story to help Democrats?
Comment and SHARE so everyone sees how the mainstream media operates.
These instances of CONFIRMED bias must be publicized.

The NFL Is In FULL Panic Mode After What The Louisiana Sheriffs Office Just Hit Them With | MK - Duration: 6:03.
The NFL Is In FULL Panic Mode After What The Louisiana Sheriffs Office Just Hit Them With
| MK
Now, this is what real American Patriots do!
Earlier this week Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington said his office will no longer
be purchasing Ford products after the automaker expressed support for National Football League
players' right to kneel in protest during the national anthem.
In a letter sent to Hixson Ford from the Ford Motor Company, Whittington states that "recent
events surrounding the NFL, its players and their audacity to thumb their collective noses
at the American flag, the American military, as well as their obvious disdain for the profession
of law enforcement in general, forces me to take a stand."
Amen Sheriff!
In late September of this year, The Ford Motor Company who is a major NFL sponsor took it
upon themselves to release a statement in response to the controversy over multiple
rich spoiled ball tossers kneeling in disrespect towards our nation and our police officers
while the national anthem was being sung prior to its games.
The statement read, "We respect individuals' rights to express their views, even if they
are not ones we share.
That's part of what makes America great."
Yahoo News Reports:
After President Trump trashed the NFL for allowing players to protest during the national
anthem, NFL sponsors are slowly beginning to respond to the political firestorm.
Some sponsors are issuing cautious statements that do not appear to take one side or the
other, while others have unequivocally supported the players' right to protest.
The majority of sponsors have remained silent.
The NFL reaped $1.25 billion in sponsorship revenue last season.
Its official league sponsors this season are: Anheuser-Busch InBev; Barclaycard; Bose; Bridgestone;
Campbell's; Castrol; Dannon; DMI; EA Sports; Extreme Networks; FedEx; Ford; Frito-Lay (PepsiCo-owned);
Gatorade (PepsiCo-owned); Hyundai; Intel; Marriott; Mars Candy; McDonald's; Microsoft;
Nationwide; New Era; News America; Nike; Papa John's; PepsiCo; Procter & Gamble; Quaker
(PepsiCo-owned); Sirius XM; Ticketmaster; Under Armour; USAA; Verizon; Visa; and Zebra.
Here's a running list of all the sponsors to issue statements on the anthem protests
so far.
Yahoo Finance has reached out to every sponsor and will keep updating it as they respond.
Under Armour
Under Armour was the first official sponsor to issue any kind of statement in response
to Trump's comments the night of Sept. 22.
The next day, Under Armour sent out a tweet that carefully avoided taking a side.
The company said it "stands for the flag and by our Athletes for free speech, expression
and a unified America."
It appears to voice support both for the anthem and for the players protesting during the
anthem.
Ford
Ford, also an NFL sponsor, said on Monday, "We respect individuals' rights to express
their views, even if they are not ones we share."
Like Under Armour's statement, it avoids fully siding with the president or the player
protests.
But the latter part of the statement ("even if they are not ones we share") arguably
implies Ford does not share the view of the player protests.
Nike
On Monday morning, Nike became the third NFL sponsor to issue a statement, and arguably
the first to take a clear position: it sided with the players.
In a statement sent to the media, Nike said: "Nike supports athletes and their right
to freedom of expression on issues that are of great importance to our society."
Hyundai
Hyundai issued a statement on Monday afternoon that, like Nike, clearly sides with the players'
right to protest.
The statement says, "We stand for and respect individuals' freedoms to express their first
amendment rights in any peaceful manner in which they choose.
We also stand for inclusion, freedom and all that represents those values."
Anheuser-Busch InBev
On Monday night, a spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch InBev sent Yahoo Finance this statement, which
appears to fall into the play-it-safe, neutral category along with Under Armour and Ford:
"At Anheuser-Busch we have a long heritage of supporting the institutions and values
that have made America so strong.
That includes our armed forces and the national anthem as well as diversity, equality and
freedom of speech.
We proudly employ over 1,100 military veterans and we work every day to create an inclusive
environment for all of our employees.
Because only together can we achieve our dream of bringing people together for a better world."
Bose
Bose sent out this statement on Monday night:
"Bose was founded in the United States, and our world headquarters is in Massachusetts,
where it's been for over 50 years.
It's now surrounded by several other Bose facilities – and at all of them, at all
times, we proudly fly the American flag.
It's a symbol of our great country which protects the freedom for every person to express
their views.
We respect that freedom, whether we agree with those views or not."
In 2016 and 2017 the Bossier Parish local sheriff's department purchased a total of
29 vehicles from Hixson Autoplex which amounted to $747,132.
Not to mention all the future parts which will need to be purchased in the coming years.
Those vehicles included 21 Ford Police Interceptors, four Ford Tauruses, a Ford F-150, two Ford
F-250s and a Ford Explorer.
Now here is the best part, Sheriff Whittington also that he would be sending copies of his
letter to all of Louisiana's 63 other sheriffs and their respective departments.
Although local media has reached out to both Hixson Ford and Ford's corporate office
for comment, as of yesterday neither had replied.
Thank you for watching...

Answering all other questions that you guys have submitted for my a hundred subs giveaway, and I know it's been a while
But I'm finally getting to it
I'm finally here, and I'm finally ready guys to share a little bit about myself
I know that I have been withholding a lot of information for this video
And I've had the honor of getting to know every single one of you guys
You guys are amazing?
I love just meeting all of you learning all your personalities your cultures and all that jazz and I'm finally finally finally
ready to
Go ahead and share a little bit about the girl the female the streamer the gamer that you guys watch all
The time and I'm so excited and without further. Oh wait quickly wait by the way guys
I know I know my hair is tingling over here
My green screen is acting like a jerk, but you know what I'm gonna roll with it
I'm gonna roll with it the new way so if you can't handle like that you can't handle a new business
And you don't belong here. I'm kidding. I'm kidding you belong here, but you got to handle it cuz I might ride okay
I've tried, and I haven't explained these pictures yet, but I'm gonna I'm gonna get to that okay, so anyway, so
Before I start answering all the questions
Um I took the liberty of like entering in a couple pictures
Just so you guys get to know me better and stuff, so these are just random pictures from my life, and yeah
So I'm gonna have them rolling in the background while I'm answering all your questions so without further ado
Let's go ahead and answer some of your questions that you guys have asked me throughout this how many month the journey?
I don't know. I'm bad at math
Okay
So the first question is and I have gotten this question this question is probably the most popular
Question that I have been asked
since day one and
Since I revealed that Ailee isn't my real name so everybody was asking
Ailee what is your real name?
so
I'm going to reveal to you guys
What my name is and you guys have to promise to keep it a secret like you guys can't tell anybody
what my real name is if you guys promise not to say what my real name is out in public I
Will say it right now my real name is
Did you guys hear it. Did you guys hear it okay? My real name is
Alright, so now you guys know my real name you guys can stop asking, and yeah
so we got that out of the way the next question is
Who inspired you to make a YouTube channel?
and
to be honest
Um there are a lot of people who inspired me a lot of youtubers a lot of streamers alive switchers
To list a couple youtubers that really did inspire me to make my own youtube channel
Would be number one. There's a very very very talented
Youtuber named strange rebel gaming her name is Brianna. She is a
Basically, she has the same things as I do. I play story-based games she plays three bass games
She has an amazing channel on amazing community, and she definitely was one of the biggest
Inspirations for me to get into youtube because not only is she a great content creator, but she's a woman
And you know that you guys know that
Women in the gaming industry isn't as you know isn't as common and to see another
female building her community through YouTube and
Really, enjoying what she does that really inspired me to go ahead and create my own channel next question is Ailee
Would you be doing collabs with subs and Eddie as well and the short answer to that is?
Yes, of course. I will do collabs with Eddie because Eddie is my boyfriend
He runs the sub channel for our channel even though
He is kind of want a little hiatus because of school and yo military duties
But of course whenever gets back to streaming and we decided to do like a GTA theme and of course
I'll do a collaboration with him
I mean we started this channel together
And we don't want to separate our two channels completely because you know it's a sub channel so of course
I'll be doing close with Betty as far as subs goes um yeah
I mean you guys just hit me up on Facebook. Hit me up on YouTube and box
I would definitely try my best to accommodate requests with subs as far as collaborations goes but
the one issue that I might run into the more we grow our channel is if there's a lot of people coming to me and
Requesting it then it's gonna be harder for me to acknowledge those requests and fulfill them as well
So I think that as time goes on
Those who are subs that have their own channels that are a little bit at the same. You know same
Size as me
I probably be more able to do collabs with them because I I won't be able to fulfill everybody's requests
Which wouldn't be as fair so as as of now yes, I will be delighted to do collaborations with subs
Um just go ahead and ask me and I will try to set up a time with you guys and get that going
Next question is what was the video game that you truly enjoyed the best
Well
I would say
There are a lot of video games that I have enjoyed. I can't really put a finger on which one
I enjoyed the best um if I were to go into like you know if I were to say which game
I enjoyed the best as far as like
enjoyable
likeness and gameplay wise and not story wise like
Neglecting the story just pure gameplay. I would have to say I had to go back into like back in the day
You know probably say like Sonic. It was a really really really huge Sonic fan
So there's like sonic adventures battle - there are Sonic Heroes, and I love the sonic games Rebecca
I used to play them all the time, and I really enjoyed them
And I can't wait for a new Sonic game to come out so that would probably be yeah, I would say that enjoyed the best
And you yeah, yeah
Next question what made you and my boy Eddie won
What made you and my boy Eddie want to make a youtube channel, and how did you get all those cool games?
Well me and Eddie right when we decided well right before we decided to make this channel. We were just really bored
We just didn't have anything to do and we were just like hey
Why don't we just you know? I had already been looking at other youtubers
I was already looking at ideas and was like why the heck do we not just make a YouTube channel together
And that's pretty much what happened we were just born we were like hey you want to make a youtube channel
He was visiting me, and he was like yeah sure so
Yeah
How did we get all those cool games well a lot of the games that I play for the channel?
I already had and I bought with my own money for instance
I already had Final Fantasy 15 before I started I already had heavy rain. I already had GTA
And of course there are some newer games that I got I got Kingdom Hearts 1.5 2.5 remix
But I've gotten some games with donations that you guys have given and basically you know it's kind of a mix
My father's gifted me some. I've bought some I've bought some what donations, and yeah, so let's add all the cool games
What game got you into gaming? Which one? Did you want to keep playing over and over again?
well
The game that really got me into gaming, I can't really say what specific game got me into gaming
First because I started gaming when I was about two years old my father tells me all these stories about me playing putting my little
Hands on a controller, and then when I get mad or when I lose
I'll get mad and throw the controller down and fold my arms like this so I can't remember
What game was my first game? You said? I really liked Spyro. I really liked Emperor's, New Groove
So, but if I were to go back until like more recent days like maybe like in my early teens or like my middle school
Years when I really started getting passionate about gaming
Or even elementary school. There is this one game that
Absolutely blew me away like I I couldn't explain why I was so attached to this game
Um I just I just thought it was beautiful and the first time I ever saw it was when I was visiting my dad on
Some business trips, and I just went and visited him
And he was playing this game in his room and I was like oh my gosh
This game is beautiful like there's like freaking
Magical beasts music is just amazing and this was back in 2001 guys, so keep in mind
I was like four years old, but I just looked at this game, and I was just like oh
My god, this is amazing and I will always remember
the name of the protagonist and to this day
It will always be the game that
really
Got me really passionate about stories in video game arts and and just story development in general and the name of
that
protagonist was
Titus or as I like to call Titus, and if you guys don't know what game
I'm talking about that is Final Fantasy 7 (supposed to be 10) lol
I was blown away by it at 4 years old and right when I started playing it
I just couldn't stop playing it over and over and over again and to this day
I have played that game probably about 10 million times. Oh
my goodness this question
Why
My question is
Will you do pity us again
If you guys don't know what pity house is it is this dungeon and Final?
Fantasy 15 that is basically like an endless puzzle it took me about seven hours to finish and the question is will I do it
Again the short answer is no
All right another question um this kind of ties into a question
I answered earlier, but I have kind of a little bit of a different answer
What made you decide to become a game youtuber you guys may know that I am currently in school
I
Want to become a game developer?
I want to become a successful game developer
And I felt like doing YouTube and doing videos and building my own community would not you know not
Increase the chance of me
Succeeding, but I would be able to gain a better insight into
You know the game industry what people like what games?
I like what things I can explore like that's why I ask so many times for
Suggestions because I kind of want to explore these different avenues not just the popular avenues
But you know like some of the indie games
what is out there that I can thoroughly explore and incorporate into my vision of what the perfect game is for me and
That is ultimately what?
Made me embark on this YouTube journey. I just wanted to
Regain, and it amplify this passion that I have for gaming that has always been there, but through YouTube
I've really gotten a new sense of
Passion and love for gaming because I get to meet so many people and they get to explain to me you know their
Perspectives, and I gained a new perspective through those, and I love it so much, so I'm so excited. I got to do this
Next question is interesting
Other than gaming what is your favorite hobby, and I have lots of hobbies. I can't really pinpoint
Which one is my favorite I do you guys notice
I really don't give like one clear concrete answer to any of these questions
but I don't have a favorite hobby because I kind of like I
Kind of alternate between hobbies whenever I'm not doing YouTube and gaming and stuff like that
But if I were to say my top hobbies would be I love playing the piano
I've kind of slacked on it a little bit lately, but I play the piano
I've been playing since I was younger by ear. I've been really passionate about music especially game music my first ever game
Original soundtrack that I ever learned on the piano was to Zanarkand from can you guess Final Fantasy 10?
They used to be really passionate about acting acting was a really big passion of mine until I kind of slacked on that as well
I loved
learning about and studying different cultures and traditions in
Particular I love Japanese culture. I love Korean culture
I love a lot of different cultures, and I've started to learn Japanese I start to learn Korean
Japanese dramas Korean dramas I love Filipino dramas. I've watched
I watch some Spanish dramas, so I'm just a really worldly person
and it's just
Another one of my passions and hobbies is to you know go ahead and explore these different cultures there around the worlds beautiful
Cultures that I love to appreciate oh, this is a really really cool one
Okay
so if you could live in
Arcadia Bay
Who would you be friends with and why and if you guys don't know what our KDF Bay?
Is it is the the whole setting in the game life is strange?
Life is strange is story-based choice face game that I've played for the channel that I have to finish
um again
but it's a choice space game and
if it were to choose who I would be friends with it would definitely definitely definitely be max I
Love Max's character and the reason why is Max and I?
See myself a lot in max. I was very very awkward in high school
I was very very awkward in middle school max seems like that awkward
you know trying to
not really trying to fit in but trying to blend in type of person and that's how I was back in high school and
I just love the fact that she's so passionate about what she does because you know if you got something
That's really passionate about something productive
productive guys
Um I just think it's so so admirable
And I think Max and I would really get along I think we're two peas in a pod if you will
