Alejandro Villanueva Jersey Sales Skyrocket After He Was Only Steeler To Stand For Anthem
and apparently the Steelers decided what they would do is the team would stay in
the locker room for the national anthem that way they wouldn't get booed and
that they weighed officially they wouldn't have a picture of everybody
taking a knee if that was the case however that was not what 28 year old
former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva did he became an instant hero he was the
only Steeler to actually come out of the tunnel and stand in that area between
the tunnel and also the field if you missed it here he is and you can hear
the anthem in the background
the Pittsburgh Steelers and there comes a team my table was a hero to the people
who think that the players should stand for the national anthem right in my by
the way he had three tours in Afghanistan he's coming out of the
locker room believe me Mike Tomlin says I want the team to stay together I'm
disappointed the whole team didn't stay together because I cannot believe that
he actually waited on this listen we're not gonna lie divisive times a divisive
individuals affect our agenda we're not going to play politics with football
players with football coaches we're not participating in the anthem
today not to be disrespectful to the anthem to remove ourselves from this
circumstance by the way that former Army Ranger his jersey rocketed to the top
five of all jerseys sold in America yesterday the jaguars were there and
they went up big against the ravens most of the ravens took a knee the jaguars
had their owner on the field some to demo a knee which I know has to be
bothering Tom Coughlin must be one of the most patriotic people on the planet
he's now their president as well as their coach is his Doug Marrone I also
know that he's extremely patriotic but the problem with this entire thing is it
actually took people should get clear this did not start with President Trump
this started with President Obama was president when Colin Kaepernick was
noticed taking a knee and sitting down during the national anthem he was asked
about it others joined him on it it was extremely controversial the president
got fed up with it so in an hour and 20 minute speech in
front of a very friendly Alabama crowd he came out and said don't you wish an
owner would go down there and tell those sob sob is you're fired for not standing
during the national anthem anyone who knows this knows from the day
one I've been outraged by this not so much that people are unhappy if you have
problem with race in America okay speak up Mohammed I'll lead the Muhammad Ali
Bill Russell you could talk about anybody Ray Lewis no one's been hurt by
speaking up in fact a lot of them of Charles Barkley when they speak of a
tell they want to get great broadcasting jobs but it was my problem for many of
you too was they were doing it during the national anthem not just for the
military for the country but yesterday I thought the president overall his
remarks Friday and this tweet Saturday made everything worse well here
here's what we know about Donald Trump he's an unconventional politician you
know he's a businessman for decades and now he's a politician he clearly during
that rally you know he's riffing on different
things and he came to the topic of you know the players who take a knee and
clearly it bothers him it's something he didn't like and he called out the owners
about it the way Donald Trump does yesterday as he was getting on Air Force
One to come back to Washington DC he was asked about what was going on and he
made it very clear what this whole thing had to do with regarding his comments it
was not about race it was about the flag watch here's the president I think it's
very disrespectful to our flag into our country so I certainly think the owner
should do something about it there was great solidarity I watched a
little bit and I will say that there was tremendous solidarity for a flag and for
our countries I think it's very disrespect
we have a flag or the anthem that's nothing to do with race I've never said
anything about race this has nothing to do with race or anything else this is to
do with respect for our country and respect for us see when we interview
people who have lost their legs or if fought for our great country overseas
and then you see our players taking a knee during the national anthem that's
what many Americans find offense to it is not that these individuals who are
taking a knee they are most of them were amazing people they've done great things
for the inner cities they have you know taking care of their families they're
excited about the money that they've made and they share it with other people
it is nothing about their character when it comes to those types of things it's
just the platform of where they're trying to do it it is just because my
two grandfathers fought in World War two my my father gave up every week at one
weekend every month to go serve in the Army Reserves for twenty years in two
weeks every summer and would drive two hours to go and do that I mean that's
what that's what I take offense to it's just the platform it's during the
national anthem if you want to do it go down and the president should sit with
these enough players and talk to them and have a great dialogue so that we can
unite as a country the president has a great platform to do that these NFL
players so many young kids look up to them so I understand their thoughts and
you know as a Christian I love them all I love I mean we love people it's just
doing it during the national anthem as what I have a big problem so Johnny Joey
Jones is an amputee the loss who was defusing bombs blew off both his legs in
Afghanistan and he spoke to the bangles be speaking to the Ravens really
inspirational guy he joined us an hour ago I don't know what it's like to be a
25 year old black man on the streets of any city in this country and be
discriminated against but no no one in the NFL other than Alejandro Villanueva
really knows what it's like to be a 25 year old American in the middle of a
country where everyone wants to kill you in New England and there were chanting
stand up I believe in they were chanting stand up
in New England and they booed in Buffalo I'm my big question is what is going to
change in America to justify the players all standing up again the union's got to
get together with the league that's a good point you've just got to get the
other of the league and just mandate it my census will take the easy way out and
ban the national anthem I bet they continue to play the national anthem and
pick and the players yep if you know because you
