we decided to make this video

from our wonderful homeland

which is the outback of Sicily

known by few people

and we would like to start a youtube series

to show how much beauty is in this hidden places

we are going to Nicosia and Sperlinga

in the province of Enna

We will surprise you

we are in Nicosia

and the first tip we give you

is to rent a 4x4 car, maybe a Panda

because the roads are very bumpy

and therefore is better to have cars which resist the shocks

This is called "The village of the 24 barons"

we finally found a place where to eat

in this bar

which is "L' Antica Gelateria" in the central square of Nicosia

we suggest you to try the "Bomba" (bomb)

with Bolognese sauce

I am in front of the entrance of the Cathedral of Nicosia

an I realised

that a lion is looking bad at me

in these little towns

there are vegetable gardens

and hens

we go up and up

it's very steep, look at what height are we

We are trying to find the castle

If you like the adventure

these are for sure places very suitable for those who are adventurous

and want to find hidden treasures

because the roadsigns are almost completely absent

now we are searching the castle

which is one of the most significant rocky castles in Sicily

but it seems not easy to find it

After not few troubles

we finally made it to the castle

which is at a height of about 816m

the castel rises over an ancient byzantine village

and in the 1000d.C. the count Roger I made a Norman fortress out of it

hence we can understand that it is a Norman castle

from the heavy-hearted bow that we see here below

this is the defence bridge

of the castle

that was originally characterised by the typical castle battlements

which unfortunately today is not visible anymore

which is almost completely destroyed

guys, this is a magical place

beautiful, surrounded by nature

Here, where my finger is pointing

is the Etna

which is possible to be seen from here

because from these towns in the center of Sicily

one can enjoy a wonderful landscape

and is possible to see the Etna especially when is covered by snow or is erupting

What we would propose you

is a different itinerary

It's true, one come to Sicily to go to the beach

to visit Palermo and Catania

beautiful places

Ragusa, Ortigia

wonderful places. And you have to go there..

Unfortunately, this part of Sicily is neglected

but it's, in some way, the most authentic

and we would like to support its growth and development

also from a touristic point of view

so we will help you to know this area

It's an adventure weekend

we almost risked to get stuck in one very narrow street

of Nicosia

(squealing tyres)

so when you are coming back from the castle

take the same road you take on the way in

without venturing too much, especially if you have a big car

and with this typical Sicilian background

we say good bye to Nicosia

and we continue towards
