I've decided to do a different video today, because I want to reach out to you
and let you know a little bit more about me other than my beauty and fashion videos that I've been uploading.
I've been doing YouTube for a year and I think it is about time you know a little bit about me.

So, I'm a Malay.
Technically, we do not have a middle name.
It's either Your Name BINTE Your Father's Name because you are a girl or
Your Name BIN Your Father's Name if you are a boy.
So, I don't have a middle name.
I think here in high school means secondary school I guess.
So, my favourite subject in high school is...

BIOLOGY!
I find it extremely exciting to study biology.
I failed my science.
I don't do very well for my science from Secondary 1 to 3 until I had a change of teacher.
She really inspired me to really study biology and
I've always wanted to be a doctor.
But, I am not a doctor.
This is hard.
I don't think I have a favourite drink.

I don't like gassy drinks.
Oh, I KNOW!
I like Boost!
The immunity juice.
It is really refreshing.
I really love fresh juices.
At the moment, I'm loving "Cheap Thrills - Sia"

I have a child.
She's a girl.
I named her Emma.
Because I really like....
EMMA WATSON!
Therefore, I named my daughter EMMA.
I'm not very good at sports.
In primary school, I used to run and I skipped (ropes).
Yeah, I am a "Skipper".
We call ourselves skipper.
I'm very good at skipping ropes.
I can do quite fast I guess.
In a minute, more than 200!
That was a few years back.
If you tell me now, probably almost 200.
I should try.
I should do a video and see how fast I can skip.

What did I play in secondary school?
I did cheerleading.
A little bit, just a little bit for my house.
I played hockey when I was in Polytechnic (tertiary education).

I really enjoy floorball.
My favourite book is "The Devil Wears Prada".
I can read it like a thousand times.
As well as the Harry Potter series, which I have read millions of times.
I probably remember the pages like what is what from book 1 to 7.
I actually finished the book 7 in a day.
It's crazy, Harry Potter fan!

I don't know how you pronounce it.
I like it because I think it is not floral,

I've been using the perfume for probably for 6-7 years.
I guess Ramadan but Ramadan is not a technically a holiday.

I think the movie is a little bit slow.

Those are the TV shows that I like.
These are like years ago.
But, Grimm just ended season 6 and there will be no more Grimm....

I'm waiting for Game of Thrones, which will be out in July.
I can't wait!

- First thing that came to my mind was Astroturf.
I mean Texas is, El Paso to the Louisiana border and Arkansas border, and it's a big
state, Texas is like another country, and I almost thought this was a joke.
But you did some research on that and actually come up with a couple different.
- Why yes, I went to the Texas A&M Extension website, and they were showing Buffalo grass
and St. Augustine grass as being very drought tolerant, so that's what I kind of focused
on, 'cause his question contained drought tolerance, so I said, "Well, okay, those are
two they list "as very drought tolerant."
- And just to be sure I would go to the closest Extension office and have a little chat with
my Extension agent.
Now in Texas, that may be 500 miles away, understand that, but you know.
Texas A&M, they understand Texas a lot better than we do.
- That's their recommendation, then we'll go with that.
St. Augustine, Buffalo grass, I do know that, of course, they grow Bermuda out there because
it's drought tolerant as well, that Texas heat.
But I would check with my local Extension agent.

that even in these difficult situations
you can choose not to concentrate
on the pain and the difficulty
but to try to distract yourself from these
by finding some good sides
and by trying
to make the best out of it

so here are some positive sides
that I can think of
about being homeless
you don't need to hurry anywhere
sometimes it's nice to have some time off
from the pressure and the expectations
of the world
you don't have a house
so you don't need to worry
about property and utility bills
or about doing housework
you have a lot of free time
so you can use this time
to do things such as
going to the city library
read for your enjoyment
maybe even learning some new things
from the books
you can go maybe doing some sports
in the park
or if there is a beach close by
you can go to the beach and swim in the sea
and just relax
and I guess this hard situation
teaches you a lot
about people and about life it
it puts everything in the right perspective
and gives proportions
develops your creativity
because you need to survive somehow
and when you will get out of this situation
you will be a much stronger resilient person

Today I am going to discuss the Ringgold identifier.
A Ringgold ID is a unique identifier for organizations in the publishing industry supply chain.
The Ringgold database includes nearly half a million institutions who buy or obtain scholarly
publications and content.
The Ringgold ID was introduced in 2003.
Ringgold developed it to identify without question, specific institutional subscribers
and other users.
The system was created by Ringgold, Incorporated.
This company now also publishes a taxonomy for classifying the interests of the organizations.
The US National Information Standards Organization, or NISO, recommends that Ringgold identifiers
be used to identify organizations in scholarly communications.
Ringgold identifiers are used by ORCID as well, to assist in identifying the institutional
affiliation of individual researchers.
The Ringgold unique identifier starts with an RIN and followed by four to six digits.
For example, Harvard University's Ringgold is RIN 1989.
The Ringgold identifier is wide spread and has wide acceptance among publishers and the
related information gathering organizations that work with them, such as funders, universities,
corporations, government bodies, and many more.
It has become one of the most ubiquitous and accepted identifiers, used by publishers and
their intermediaries to uniquely identify customers and accurately connect their records
across an organization.
All publishers and organizations in scholarly communications should be using Ringgold IDs.
Aside from providing the Ringgold ID, the company also provides such products or services
as Identify Database, Identify Audit Service, CDO, and ProtoView.
The company's motto rightly is "We believe that good data is the foundation of good decisions."
They have helped bring order to an otherwise murky and chaotic part of the data or information

That's a little bit sad, because ringbone is progressive.
OK.
So, her questions are kind of embedded in there,
and one of them was, "What is it?"
SARAH: Yep.
DR LYDIA GRAY: So, it's clearly a layman's term
that we use to describe this, but it's really bony growth
around either the short pastern bone, the long pastern
bone, or the pastern or coffin joints.
So, depending on where it is, you
have a little bit different prognosis.
But at four years old, that's fairly early.
SARAH: And so, for people who aren't
familiar with all those different bones, where are
we talking about on the horse?
DR LYDIA GRAY: So, if you start at the ground,
the bone that's in the horse's hoof

Then the second bone, and the joint is right at the level
where the hoof stops--
so the coronary band-- the second bone
is the short pastern bone, or P2.
And the next bone is P1, or the long pastern bone.
Then you get to the ankle, fetlock, and the cannon bone.
So it's that short distance from the hoof to the ankle.
The pastern.
If it's articular-- meaning the new bone growth--
because of instability, maybe trauma,
perhaps poor conformation, poor shoeing or footing--
if the new bone growth is around the joint, then it's articular
and it's arthritis.
If it's on the pastern bone itself,
then it's periarticular, it's not arthritis.
Still not great, though.

DR LYDIA GRAY: I'm curious what prompted her to get her vet out
to diagnose it.
But the things you see with ringbone
is a short, choppy stride, perhaps
some tripping or stumbling or shuffling,
and it can be outright lameness, like head bobbing,
I don't want to put weight on this leg, it hurts.
But it's really a range of motion is affected.
So they can't break over at the pastern ankle or hoof.
And, sometimes the hoof itself gets
squared off-- the toe get squared off,
because they're just not breaking over.
They're not lifting the foot up above the ground.
So, hard to say, without knowing where
it is, how long it will be.
But she must be seeing something already if she already
has a diagnosis.
SARAH: One of the other questions
hidden in this question was prevention,
which is always a tough one.
Is there anything that people can
do if they are starting with a young horse?
And, obviously, we love acronyms here at SmartPak.
But for those of you not familiar,
OTTB, off-the-track Thoroughbred.
DR LYDIA GRAY: Oh, OK.
I'm like, there was an acronym in there?
SARAH: I know, it was hidden.
DR LYDIA GRAY: I'm acronym blind.
SARAH: It's true.
So, obviously having a horse come off the track,
you can't do much about what's already happened.
But if somebody were starting a young horse,
is there things that put their horse more at risk
or less, in terms of prevention, being proactive
about this kind of problem?
DR LYDIA GRAY: Well, when you're getting a new horse--
this is going to sound terrible--
but that's one of the reasons you do a pre-purchase exam,
to find out what the horse has going on,
and if it's something that has a good prognosis
or a poor prognosis, will it continue
to degrade or degenerate.
The only thing you can do is really make sure
that your hoof care is of high quality.
So, it doesn't matter if you're barefoot or shod, or whatever,
just that the angle's appropriate,
that the hoof angle matches the pastern angle, that you don't
go too long between trims.
You've really got to have a good working
relationship with your hoof care provider, your farrier.
And, you know, footing, and working, conditioning,
and that sort of thing.
But really, it comes down to the hoof care,
I think, is the only thing you can really do.
She's already on a joint supplement,
that's a great idea.
I really can't think of anything else.
