How To Use A Clay Bar - Tesla Model S - Chemical Guys Car Care - Duration: 3:59.
We're back here in the Detail Garage continuing the mini series on this Tesla.
We've already started by cleaning the interior using our Leather Cleaner and protectants
to preserve the life of the leather and since the carpet was covered in filth and debris
we vacuumed it up and protected it using Fabric Guard.
Moving to the exterior, starting with the wheels we cleaned it all up using Diablo Wheel
Gel and Sticky Citrus Wheel Gel to get off all that embedded brake dust and grime to
give these wheels the ultimate shine.
Now continuing with the exterior we used Citrus Wash & Gloss to cut through layers of grime
and debris since this car hasn't been detailed in over four months, it is all clean but it
still feels rough.
So today we're going to clay it to get off all that embedded impurities and if you listen
it is rough.
Those are the things that land in the pores of the paint and it degrades the look and
finish of the vehicle.
Using our clay bar, I've reached for our OG Clay Bar.
There are multiple levels of clay but this is designed to remove that lighter contamination
to give it a smooth feeling to prepare it for protectants or coatings.
First, obviously wash the vehicle which we've already done.
Now taking our clay bar I'll pull off a small piece and you want to start with a small piece
then knead it up into a paddy.
You don't want to use the whole bar at once because it is like a piece of gum, if you
drop it then you must throw it away.
So taking a small piece and roll or knead it up to make it into a disc that covers about
two or three fingers.
As you can see we're outside today, this is for you guys who don't have access to a Detail
Garage like we do and you have to do all of your detailing work outside so we are going
to show you that it is possible to clay your car outside as long as you're not working
in direct sunlight.
Now starting a small section, I'll spray it down with Clay Luber a little on the bar and
my hand because it will stick to anything.
Working back and forth in straight lines picking up all that gross contamination.
It is important to use a special lubricant, a lot of people ask if it is okay to use water
or soapy water but the problem with that is water by itself doesn't lubricate very well
and using soapy water it degrades the clay bar so you want to use something that is safe
for the clay bar but also produces plenty of lubrication so you can pull off all this
grime without scratching.
After working the clay bar into the paintwork I can feel that it has gone smooth, I'll wipe
off any excess.
Typically when you first start claying the surface will sound rough or the clay bar will
drag but as you pull junk out of the paint it will get smooth and quiet and then you
can move on.
So real quickly we'll check our work.
Just by the feel and sound of the hood, over here totally quiet and down here where we
haven't clayed it is rough and contaminated.
So we're going to move on to the rest of the vehicle getting this whole thing cleaned and
ready for the next step of the detailing process.
Clay bar services can be performed once of twice a year but this adds to an overall better
shine and it makes it easier for glazes, sealants, waxes and any type of coating to bond to surface
making it look better and last longer.

process of editing several other videos
and I got a lot of stuff going on but I
wanted to show you real quick what I got
in the mail today oh the lovely
pre-approval letter
have you guys ever wondered why there
are so many nice brand-new cars on the
road well wonder no more because these
letters are constantly every single
month
I must get at least one or two of them
from different credit unions from
different banks this letter is approving
me for up to $50,000 to buy a brand new
car at a two point three four percent
interest rate so basically anytime I
want I can go gladly put myself in 250
thousand dollars worth the card debt
which is just not a wise thing to do
guys so just because you get a letter
saying you're pre-qualified what it
really means is they're pre-qualified
their pre-qualifying you to get you into
debt and it's really not for your
benefit but it's really mainly for their
benefit so always remember that and that
is why we see so many new brand new car
isms on the road because I don't know if
you've been wondering why there's been
so many brand new cards on the road is
because of letters like this and in my
personal opinion because of this easy
money lending that is why we're seeing a
lot of these cars costing so much
because they said okay well the interest
rates lower so we're just going to
increase the price of our vehicles and
that's one of the debt is one of the
main reasons that the vehicle prices are
increasing on us and why course cost so
much more than they used to it's very
similar in my opinion back play in
2007-2008 with the mortgage crisis when
anybody just who who could fog up a
mirror could get a home loan and go buy
a four or five hundred thousand dollar
home and because of that easy money
the prices of homes just kept going up
and obviously there's other factors
besides that but debt is a huge part of
that and that's what I'm seeing with the
car loans so I just wanted to just
really encourage you guys if you can't
afford to buy a car in cash
I really discourage you from buying one
or just at at least promise me you'll
pay as much down as possible and keep
your your overall pain is very low
because the average car payment in
America today is around $500 a month
believe it or not I couldn't believe it
whew that hurts but I mean if you
seriously if you can't pay if you buy a
new car or at least a used car if you
can't pay it off in less than a year or
two years at the most
please do yourself a favor and don't buy
the car or buy a cheaper vehicle because
it's not worth the damage it's going to
do to your long-term investing strategy
and so your overall monthly budget so
that's so when you get letters like this
you know the best thing to do is its
shred the crap out of it
