♡CHALLENGES & FUN♡: CAKE-UP & EMIRATES TALK I JustDUY - Duration: 16:20.

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel!

Today I am going to invite a guest to join me and I will also do her make-up

I will use her make-up, I think its also a small challenge for me since they are not my own make-up

so I won't be familiar

when I do her make-up together we are going to talk about a topic

So, today my guest is a former flight attendant for Emirates and shes resigned recently

So we together are going to answer all your questions (for me) about Emirates flight attendant

Her name is Trúc

Ok, she already has foundation on. I will start with concealer to cover some imperfections.

Although her skin already quite flawless. but the more perfect the better, right?

Truc: hey guys, My name is Trúc, 25 yrs old. I resigned from Emirates 3 months ago

I worked there for about 1 year and 8~9 months

I going back to Vietnam because of family's matter

Me: Family matter is getting married ^^

Trúc: follow my heart :D

Trúc: well just got my visa for UK now so we are leaving vietnam for UK this April

Then a few years there and we will see

Life after resigning? I cant put into words, really mixed feelings

because the past 2 years with Emirates, I was on the move, travel around the worlds, different countries every 2-3 days

so used to that feeling so these few months its kinda sad for me

Duy: are you used to life here? I meant your away for a while so really need sometimes to get back to life here right?

Duy: However, you are not planning to stay so, its not that necessary to get used to life here, right? <JOKE>

Trúc: yea, for me Vietnam is the best no matter where I am.

its so easy for me to go anywhere and do things here. Bored? I can go to tons of fun places, Hungry? street food is everywhere

I cant really find those simple things anywhere as here

Duy: Are you excited for UK?

Trúc: yes of course, but also am worried

Since I am used life here, life in Dubai. now I am moving to a completely different country, of course I am a bit scared

but still I am happy because I am going with my husband

No, no regret. Because my plan before has always been staying in Dubai for 2 years and I went with my plan

I actually want to follow another career path

another job, in the past, I worked in Digital Marketing and I am into that so..

Duy: ah so the original plan was staying in Dubai for 2 years

Duy: I got it now

Trúc: well I cant leave my husband for too long

Duy: yea, I notice that long distance relationships are super difficult to maintain. Those who work it out, are truly serious people

they belong together

Trúc: There was a guys on the flight from Hamburg

ah, Dusseldorf

when he got on board, he suddenly screamed so loud " OMG I have a bomb in my bag!"

Then we were all frozen, went straight to inform captain

The captain took it serious because we can not under- estimate any circumstances/ jokes. so we offloaded him

all the crews had to start over with the security search the aircraft

then 3 hours delay

and as the procedure, the policemen kept him at Dusseldorf airport until the aircraft safely landed back to Dubai

It was horrible, the passengers was furious and complaining at us crew because of the delay

but we could not tell them the real reason behind the delay (Company policy)

Duy: what do you think about the guy? is he insane or something? Who would of screaming like that

Trúc: I had no idea if hes stable or not. but his friends made it to the flight and he didnot

You can not make jokes about bomb

Aviation takes those stuffs very serious. if stepping into the airport, do not mention those words

Duy: this a tip for you guys, if you are going to the airport, jokes are fun but

do not over do it because of the bad effects of these jokes

those bad jokes regarding bomb or explosions. No NO

Since people have no ideas those are jokes or not, the would prefer to make mistakes of taking those jokes serious than letting it go. Netter safe than sorry

Trúc: ye, some passenger insulted me

because we did not have enough chicken for him

he literally yelled at my face. that was a flight to Barcelona

My very first flight in my career

I was pushing the meal cart and when I went to him, there was no chicken left. So he was so furious

He pointed his finger at me and continued cursing

I was brand new so I got scared. I just apologized to him many times and went to inform the senior

the senior came and deal with him. Well. Theres no more chicken choice, what could I do

Thats it, the rest of my flights are super fun and happy

Duy: so all the flights were fun? OMG, why your life is so easy

Trúc: ah, there was one story. there was a crew from south africa

I had no idea what was her problem but we argued a bit

Duy: yea its quite common to have some conflicts with crews on board!

Trúc: yea my life is actually easy on board

Duy: I know, my flight attendant career was full of drama, thats why I quit LOL

Trúc: well I didnt really talk to people on board so

Duy: yea me too

Trúc: I think if I am acting too nice on board, people can get a bit too comfortable

Duy: or they can take advantages of you

Duy: guys, asian crews who usually look nice, naive, got bullied quite often by others

Thats why I always do my make- up like this. Please do not think that my make-up is too extreme! Its because I do my make-up with a Purpose LOL

Trúc: I know, I guarantee you guys Duy is nice

I always remember when I traveled as passenger to Vietnam. we did not know each other at that time yet. She checked the staff -list and found me as vietnamese cabincrew

She brought me so many stuffs and treats. she put it under my seat when I was sleeping so I had no idea till I woke up later

After I woke up, she came said Hi, thats so sweet

Duy: well, since we are all vietnamese crews, I always checked the staff list when I was doing Vietnamese flights because Vietnamese crews go home a lot as passengers

If theres staff, I would always come say Hi, bring some water or treats, because why not?

we are vietnamese, so no need to be ignorant or playing hard to get

or pretend not to know each other

Trúc: yea pretend not to be vietnamese sometimes

Duy: well, I always spoke Vietnamese to Vietnamese people when I was flying

Duy: however, there were flights, the Vietnamese passengers on board did not want to speak Vietnamese to me at all

Truc: ye they prefer us not speaking Vietnamese to them

Duy: I remember this Vietnam flight, I was doing the beverage cart in the cabin, I heard these guys spoke Vietnamese to each others. So I offered them drinks in Vietnamese

They just replied to me in English

Trúc: they probably thought you were not Viet

Duy: I was speaking to them in Vietnamese, girl

Truc: well, you know that my husband, he went to a restaurant and ordered food in Vietnamese. They either ignored him or spoke english to him because they would not expect this western guy to speak Vietnamese

Duy: aw, so your husband can speak some Vietnamese ey?

Trúc: ye, some. He can communicate with my mom

Trúc: I enjoy flying but not the preparation part before flight. Before every flights, I had to wake up 4 hours

2,3am still then put some make-up on . other than that, I am quite easy- going so yea, I do enjoy

Duy: you are a super fun person thou

Trúc: I think I am a very "nice" person <JOKE>

Duy: were you nice on the flight?

Trúc: yea, if I was not happy with something, I would leave and kept quiet about it

Duy: I would speak up if I dislike something

Trúc: maybe I was flying for only 2 years so still quite new

Duy: you meant getting bitchy? <JOKE>

Trúc: They always called me Truck

Duy: your name is Trúc and they pronounce Truck?

Trúc: to the point everytime I went to pre- flight briefing room, I just told them to call me "Chuppa-chup" whenever thay asked

Duy: My name is Duy, but they always pronounce "D" in english, so it sounds like "Blind" in Vietnamese

So I just told them to call me "U.A.E" like the name of the country. when you say it fast its " U-Ee" so ye..

Ye thats fine, if they call me "Duy" (english D) I wouldnt respond

Trúc: No they didnt teach us make-up

They just showed us the proper color to wear and make-up. Thats it. The techniques were not really

Duy: the image and uniform class was like 1 day

Trúc: yea on that day, they just showed us how to present the company and brand the best, thats it!

Duy: since I like make-up so I wear all the time, so they asked Do we have to wear a lot of make up to work

Both: NO

Trúc: yea for flights, I only did eyeliner, eyebrows and lipsticks, thats it!

Trúc: if your lazy as me, you can spend that amount of make-up time for sleeping/resting before flight.

Duy: me, to be honest, 4 year working for Emirates as a flight attendant, even a 45 minutes flights to Doha or 16 hours to the States, I would always spend 2 hours before every flight just to do make-up

Truc: seriously?

Duy: I would never give up on my passion. I always wanted to be perfect on duty

Truc: wow, for me I do not care that much. Just wanted to make it fast, only 30 minutes for make-up

Duy: ye I think for me its pretty much a passion already. nothing else

Duy: No i didnt have any pets back then. Because we were flying all over, I would not have anytime to take care of pets.

who would take care of pets when I am away?

question is Can we have pets in Emirates accommodation?

Truc: based on company's policy, you can not!

Duy: its up to the building you live in though

Duy: My friend has catssssss

Truc: it probably a secret, no one knows

Duy: nah, that building allows, I saw some crews have Husky also

Truc: you do not need to know how to swim, use a swimming float

during training, you will sometimes have to get to the water but you will be provided life-jackets though.

swimming is not a requirement

Yes, as long as they are not visible and when you smile, they look good and normal

Truc: as I remember before joining, they sent you a Medical form to tick off the list of things you need to prepare. "fake teeth" was not mentioned anywhere

Truc: just need to look a part of a Emirates future cabincrew

Truc: did you wear false lashes when you went for the interview?

Duy: nope

Duy: even when I started to work, no false eyelashes

Truc: yea me either

Truc: I remember those who wore false eyelashes did not make it at the end

Duy: I notice lots of emirates girls wear eyelash extension on board

If they are hidden under your uniform, its ok

Theres people wear eye-sight glasses, normal, theres a document you need to carry all the flights if you wear glasses

age limit from 21-19 years old to apply

even if your 29, but your birthday is december, you still can apply

Theres a slovakia guy I knew, tall and handsome

he was 29,5 years old, when he got to Dubai, he was 30 years old. The oldest one in class

People asked me if they need any bachelor degrees, university degrees, IELTS, TOEIC blah blah everything

Truc: they asked do they need any aviation degree.. The answer is No

Duy: ye, also they also commented on my video asked they need to graduate from Aviation schools, though I said I graduated from business schools

Truc: I studied to be an english teacher for kids before

Truc: as I remember you have to be the same as your ID picture

Duy: as you might know Dubai is a Muslim country so they are very strict in term of that

I was watching this Youtuber, shes trans and when she went to Dubai all the way from the states, she was refused to enter the country

Truc: poor girl

Truc: as long as they do not know, and you keep for yourself

Duy: I knew so many crews they took leaves, vacations and went for cosmetic surgeries. Its fine as long as when you get back on duty, you are still looking nice and normal

Truc: as long as your not very different from ID, can always blame make-up for some changes on your face though

Duy: i find Emirates quite easy

Truc: well, some flights will have 1-2 guys and 20 girls for example

Duy: also some flights I did, there were all guys, only a few girls so ye, it depends

Truc: cant tell if its more difficult for guys than girls

Duy: based on policy, you can not keep your uniform

Truc: because its about safety and security though

Duy: if you want them, you then say you lose the uniform to buy the new one. They are very expensive though

Truc: its a few millions Viet nam Dong though

Duy: what did you keep from your uniform?

because I need to buy a new hat, something was wrong with my old one

Duy: I only keep my nametag

Duy: some people ask me if they can buy my old emirates uniform. OMG

if I really keep them for memory, then Ill keep, why would I even sell them?

Duy: do you still want to be flight attendant? British airway for example

Truc: ye why not? I do not have a defined answer, if theres chance, Ill go for it

For now, I would prefer to go for advertising field

Duy: if your not getting married, would you continue flying?

Truc: ye, I would finish 1 contract

Duy: 1 contract is 3 year,s guys

I found this make-up is more like arabic style ey?

Guys, so her make-up is done now! Doesnt she look amazing?

Now its 4 pm, shes ready to go clubbing

Truc: yea kinda

I really hope we answer all your questions for me about Flight attendant in general

I just want to say thank you to Truc for joining me today

I also put her instagram here so you can check her out

What's Up Wednesday - May 24th, 2017: Tuition - Duration: 2:24.

Hi, I'm representative Jonathan Brostoff

and welcome to my latest edition of

What's up Wednesday. Today we're going to

talk about free tuition. In a Joint

Finance Committee meeting last week, my

Democratic colleagues put forth a motion

for free Technical College, and the Repubs

in the committee voted for it saying

it's finally time to make technical

colleges free! Just kidding - of course

they voted it down. They literally used

the old tired "pull yourself up by your

bootstraps line" when arguing against

free tech colleges in Wisconsin. Real

talk -

I've worked with homeless youth and

families since I was 14 years old and

the idea that a lack of will is the only

thing holding folks who are struggling

back is, at best,

dangerously uninformed and, at worst, well,

let's just say pretty freakin awful.

Repubs have sited the cost of this

investment as a reason to oppose it

calling it ridiculous. Well, you know

what's ridiculous? How much education

costs in this country. In fact, while tech

schools are good start we should really

be making all public colleges free and

the fact that my colleagues across the

aisle think that it's ridiculous to

offer free tech schools but don't bat an

eye when it comes to giving their

billionaire donor friends millions of

dollars in giveaways, well, that's really

what's ridiculous and as my friend

Representative Hintz said in the committee

sixty nine individuals are getting a fifty three

million dollar tax cut. Individual filers!

Aside from the moral imperative, we need

this sort of investment for economic

stability. The UW-Madison Institute for

Research on poverty reports that by 2020

forty five percent of jobs in the US

will require a college degree and,

judging by a current completion rates,

our country's workforce will face a

shortfall of 5 million college-educated

workers. There is a growing and dangerous

wealth gap in our state, and we need to

address that issue head-on. The future of

our students and our economy depends on

a commitment to invest in our shared

futures.

My colleagues and I will continue to push

for free tech and public colleges in

Wisconsin. Thank you all for tuning in

this week. This is Wednesday, and that's

what's up!

10 "STEP" Phrasal Verbs in English: step up, step down, step in... - Duration: 12:53.

Hi. Welcome back to www.engvid.com.

I'm Adam.

In today's lesson we're going to look at phrasal verbs using the verb "step".

Now, first of all, what you need to understand, again, phrasal verbs are verbs plus prepositions

that have different meanings.

And the verb "step" is a bit tricky because we use "step" as a noun as well, and we often

combine it with prepositions, and the preposition and noun combination can be completely different

from the verb and preposition combination.

So we're going to look...

Have to look at both of these when we look at these combinations with prepositions.

So we're going to look at: "step down", "step up", "step in", "step inside", "step around",

"step out", "step on", "step back", "step aside", "step forward".

Let's start with "down".

So, "step down".

So, before I start with any of them, what is "step"?

So a step is when you take your one foot forward.

Right?

You're taking one step.

Or if you're climbing the stairs, you take one, two, three steps, four steps, five steps.

It's one foot in front of the other.

That's the basic meaning of "step".

"Step down".

So, of course, I can step down off the table if I'm standing on a table or whatever.

There's always the literal meaning, but "step down" can also mean resign.

Okay?

Resign means quit.

So, for example, if I'm the president of the company and I think that the company is not

doing very well and everybody's very angry because the company's not doing well, they

want to get somebody new as the president in my position.

Finally I say: "Okay, you know what?

I will step down and let the new guy come in."

Now, we're going to see that again in "step aside", but "step down" basically means resign,

give up the position.

Now, if we're looking at the verb: "a step down".

If we're looking at this as a...

Sorry. As a noun, not a verb, "a step down" means a lower position, or a lower value,

or a lower rank.

Okay?

So right now I live in a five-bedroom house, it's a very big house, very, very expensive,

but my financial situation is not so good, so I had to sell that house and buy a two-bedroom

condominium.

Now, for many people a two-bedroom condominium is very nice, but for somebody who has had

a five-bedroom house, a condominium is a step down in position, in stature, etc.

Right?

So a step down means a lower level or a lower rank.

"To step down", "to resign", okay.

Now, "step up" same idea.

If we're looking at the noun, "a step up" is the opposite, it's an increase in position.

So I went from my two-bedroom condominium to a three-bedroom house.

That's a big step up in terms of social situations, social rank, depending on who you ask of course.

But "to step up", okay?

As a verb.

"To step up" means to face the challenge.

Of course, it literal means to step up.

Okay?

But to step up to the challenge means somebody has to come forward, show the courage, and

do what is needed to overcome an obstacle or to overcome a challenge.

So think about sports.

Okay?

You have your favourite team and they're in the playoffs and they're losing, so you...

All the people say: "Well, the star players, the best players need to step up."

They need to, like, show up, be courageous, face the challenge and do what is necessary

to win.

Okay?

So, "to step up".

Now, another expression we have...

This is a very common expression: "Step up to the plate".

Now, "the plate" comes from baseball.

Okay?

You... The batter comes in, there's the home plate and there's the pitcher, you step up to the

plate and you're ready to hit the ball.

Right?

So if we say somebody needs to step up to the plate that means somebody needs to face

the challenge, face the difficult situation and take care of it basically.

Okay, "step up".

Okay.

"Step in", now, again, I can step in a room.

Just one step.

I'm not moving all the way in.

I'm just taking one step, that's the literal meaning.

To...

The other meaning is to get involved.

Okay?

So I see my brother and sister, they're both fighting and they're not stopping, and I say:

"Stop, stop", and nobody's stopping so finally I have to step in, I have to get involved,

I have to separate them.

So, if somebody needs to step in they need to get involved, or they need to interfere,

or they need to stop something from happening.

They need to be part of the situation.

Now, "step inside" also means step inside, but why wouldn't somebody say: "Go inside"

or "Come inside"?

When we say "step inside" all we want to do is emphasize that movement indoor, into someplace.

Okay?

So I'm a very big boss and I say...

And you want to do business with me, and I said: "Step inside my office."

It basically means come in, but it's more emphasis.

I want to show you how big I am, how powerful I am.

"Step inside my office. Let's talk."

Right? It's a bit more emphasis, that's all it is.

Okay.

"Step around", now, let's say I'm a reporter and you're a politician, and I ask you a very

difficult question and you don't really want to answer it...

Answer it, so you step around the question.

You step around the issue, means you avoid answering it directly.

Another way we...

We sometimes hear it is "dance around".

Or you'll hear "step around" or "dance around the issue".

This is very common with politicians who don't like to answer questions directly.

In fact, they don't like direct answer...

Questions, so they just step around the question and talk about something completely different.

"Step out", that basically means go out.

Okay?

So I'm at the office and I say to my co-worker: "I'm just going to step out for a minute."

Basically just go out for a short time and then I'm coming back.

Okay?

"Step out" can also...

We also have an expression: "Step out of... Step out of line".

What does "step out of line" mean?

Means basically not following the rules, not doing what everybody else is doing.

So if you step out of line, means you did something wrong or you're doing something

too independent and the people around you might not be too happy.

Those people around you are all in line and you're stepping out of that line and doing

your own thing.

You're not following the rules.

Okay?

"Step out".

So, "step on".

Again, you can step on something.

If there's a bug and you don't like it, you just step on it and it's dead, no problem.

But you can also step on something.

So, if you step on something, means you're applying pressure.

You're applying pressure or you're increasing whatever the situation is. Right?

So, this person is not doing his work so I tell the manager...

I'm the big boss of the company, this is a worker, I say to the manager:

"Step on him. Get him to work harder."

Okay? Just apply more pressure.

Now, you can step on someone's toes.

If you step on someone's toes, a little bit you're offending them.

Okay?

So I'm the new guy in the office, and I...

Everybody has been there a long time, everybody has their way of doing things.

I'm the new manager.

So for the first few weeks I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I'm not going to tell people what to do.

I'm just going to watch how they work, take notes, and slowly start making the changes

that I want to make.

Because if I go right away:

"Okay, you need to do this differently, you need to do this differently",

I will just be stepping on their toes.

They will feel offended like I'm walking all over their toes, and it's a little bit painful

and not so comfortable.

Now, "step on the gas".

"Step on the gas" means, again, increase the pressure.

Or if you're thinking about a car, there's the gas pedal, "step on the gas" means go faster.

Okay.

And more common expression: "Step on it".

"Come on, step on it. We have to go.

Hurry.

Hurry. Let's go, let's go."

Or: "Step on it."

A very common expression when you want someone to hurry up.

Okay.

"Step back", so there's "step back", "step forward", which we're going to talk about

in a second.

That's the literal meaning.

But sometimes you want to just step back, where you have a certain situation.

You're not really sure you understand a situation, you want to get a better idea of what's going

on, so you just step back, you get a broader perspective, you get a different view.

Okay?

So if you take a step back you can have a different view, and then you can come back

and take care of it.

Now, another way to say...

To talk about "step back", when you're making progress.

If you're making progress you're going forward.

Right? You're progressing.

But sometimes there's a little problem and then you have a step back.

So sometimes you'll hear the expression: "One step forward, two steps back."

It means you're having a very difficult time progressing with whatever the situation is.

If you're a scientists and...

Scientist and you're trying to discover the cure for cancer...

Okay?

So you found something really, really good, a new chemical or a new pill that can really

help, so you apply it, but then you realize that the side effect of this chemical is that

the person gets a different disease, a worse disease.

Okay?

So yeah, you've gone forward a little bit, but you've actually gone back twice as much

because you have a bigger problem to deal with now.

Okay?

"Step aside".

So, step aside, step aside.

So, literal means move to the side.

But "step aside..."

Remember I said "step down" to resign?

"Step aside" is similar.

It doesn't necessarily mean resign, but it means get out of the way.

So, again, you can get out of the way so somebody can pass or you can get out of the way so

somebody can take your spot.

So, for example, in the elections you have two people running for the same party.

Near the end of the primary season, near the end of the campaign there's one candidate

or one nominee who's clearly ahead.

So instead of fighting each other and not fighting the other party's person, you...

One... The leader will say to the other person:

"You know, just step aside, let me have it, and we can fight the real enemy, not each other."

So, "step aside", make way, get out of the way.

"Step forward".

So, again, I can step forward, I can step back.

But "step forward" also means to volunteer or to admit, or to take responsibility, depending

how you're looking at it.

So, for example, anybody who's interested in helping out the poor kids in this country,

please step forward.

Basically make yourself known that you want to volunteer, you want to help.

Or: "Okay, I know one of you created all this mess and one of you is the cause of all this

problem.

Will the guilty party please step forward?"

It means admit that you did it.

Here's a line of people all accused, I want the one person who is responsible to take

responsibility, to step forward and say:

"It was me. I did it."

Okay?

So: "Step forward."

So, there we go.

Sorry, I forgot about "step back", so you can also use that as a noun.

It's: "a step back" meaning the same, like the opposite of progress.

Okay, sorry.

We Fire Up the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon - Duration: 2:17.

a few months ago at the New York

International Auto Show dodge blew us

away with this the 2018 Dodge Challenger

SRT demon and now a couple of months

later we are here at the Midwest

automotive media association spring

rally here in lovely Elkhart Lake

Wisconsin and Dodge has blown us away

again speaking of blue check this out

this is the new b5 blue colors the first

time we're seeing it and let me tell you

this thing is gorgeous now New York was

a little bit loud so we really didn't

get to show you much in terms of detail

of what's inside the car or what you can

buy for a buck from Dodge hey stick

around until the end of this video

because you might just get to hear the

demon howl so when you get your demon it

doesn't come with some certain things it

doesn't come with a passenger seat it

doesn't come with a backseat it doesn't

come with a stereo more than two

speakers doesn't come with trunk liner

doesn't come with carpeting in the trunk

either but Dodge has got a special deal

for you for just a dollar apiece you can

get all those options back so here I've

got a passenger seat

I've got a back seat there it is I've

got the new demon crate which we'll go

through in a second and I've got the

trunk liner I've got everything I need

so for my dollar bill what can I get

that comes in the trunk well you can get

the demon crate demon crate includes a

bunch of stuff for the dragstrip like

these skinny drag radial front tires

that will replace the big fat 11 inch

wide drag radials that you have up front

so essentially you get a second set of

tires for the rear you've also got the

jack jack handle you've got the new air

pump in there and a couple things that

aren't pictured things like a conical

air filter and a bunch of other

performance pieces that come with the

demon crate as well and while it only

costs a couple of dollars to get all of

those really cool optional extras with

it it'll still cost you at just over

eighty six thousand dollars to get this

you

you
