It's time to level up again... | 30 Day Video Challenge 1/30 - Duration: 10:26.

Hey my happy shiny puppies.

This is Melody Fletcher, author of Deliberate Receiving: Finally the universe makes some

freaking sense!

And boy do I have something slightly different for you guys today.

As you may have noticed, unless you're brand new to this blog and this is the first video

of mine that you're watching…

I haven't really been posting lately.

It actually kind of started at the end of last year when I really just lost the inspiration

to create new content for my blog.

Which was really weird, because I've been blogging for I think about 6 years now - since

2011 I think?

Possibly even the end of 2010; I'm not sure anymore…

So, for me to run out of things to talk about, especially on this subject which is something

that I can talk for days about without even taking a breath, it was really weird.

But something was clearly off and in my last blog post, which was a while ago, I was trying

to figure that out.

I was trying to share what I was going through and I thought maybe it was the whole video

thing, that I just didn't really want to be doing video anymore.

And I didn't want to be standing in a little room, you know, by myself with camera equipment

and lights, and the camera, and just sort of talking into the ethers.

And I thought maybe that was a problem, so let me get back to writing, because writing's

always been my inspiration.

And then I wrote that one blog post and then I wasn't inspired again.

So, most of you know that I went to Peru on one of my annual big spiritual leveling up

trips this year, and I'd obviously had a lot of insights from that.

And one of the insights that I had from that has actually been coming in, in deeper and

deeper layers and it's finally dawned on me what this is all about.

Because I love creating content.

I love talking about the law of attraction and reality creation, and I love helping people

to be empowered.

And yet for some reason I wasn't able to publish.

And it really kind of got frustrating, which is always a good sign, because just as you're

hitting frustration, you know that you're about to pop, so…

I got frustrated and then, FINALLY, I popped, so…

My blog has gone through a lot iterations, and for those of you, bless your little puppy

hearts, who have been with me for years, you'll have seen this.

And I did this quite publicly.

So when I first started, I published 3 times a week.

And then at some point, I couldn't keep that up anymore so I went to twice a week.

And a lot of people kind of went thank God, because my blog posts were really long and

really in-depth.

And it was a little hard keep up to keep up with, apparently.

And at some point I had to scale back and go to once a week, because my coaching practice

was just hoppin' to the point where I just could not… did not have the time to publish

that often.

And then I went to videos, which was another challenge, but also really, really fun.

And I started to kind of do more Q&A things where I was actually publishing answers to

peoples' direct questions, which was also really, really fun.

And at some point, I had to stop answering emails directly.

I brought in somebody else.

You guys, most of you, know Tina, my lovely sister.

She works in my business and she's also coaching.

But this was the start of her journey.

I kind of brought her in to help me answer a lot of those emails, and I just had to scale

back and scale back and scale back.

Because there was just no way to keep up with it all and so, I had to make some tough decisions.

But what has really occurred to me, is that I scaled back a little too much on something

really important.

Or rather perhaps it wasn't too much at the time, but it is now, and I want to scale it…

front again?

I don't know.

[laughs] Scale back, scale front.

So, and that is the engagement.

The engagement with you guys, you know, because after a while you sort of take a step back,

and take a step back, and you have to, like I said, because the overwhelm-ment of like

too much stuff, too much work, too many emails, too many questions.

You have to try to create some kind of a way to handle as much as possible and serve as

many people as possible.

But, I kind of missed you guys.

Oh, not even kind of.

Like super SUPUER missed you guys.

And so, it isn't realistic that I answer every single email that I get.

It isn't realistic that I do all one on one work and that I can talk to everybody

one on one.

But something that dawned on me is that it is realistic that I can do this through video

in a different way from how I've been doing it.

And this is what has been bothering me – it's that I was sort of talking at you, I guess.

I was teaching.

I was so in the teaching mode that I wasn't really having a conversation with you.

If that makes sense.

So, I wasn't really sharing myself completely.

I was sort of in the teacher mode, hoping to convey information.

And I'm not down on myself.

I'm not saying that I was doing a bad job or anything like that.

But taking it to the next level means that I want to have more conversations with you.

I want more back and forth.

And I want to let you guys in more than I have been, which means that I'm not going

to be in my little video studio talking about some specific topic.

I'm just going to be talking with you about whatever's going on, and whatever insights

happen to come in.

And whatever I feel like talking about.

And, you know, what I've discovered…

I was at this conference a couple of weeks ago.

It's a business conference, but a very soulful one.

And there was a wonderful woman, I didn't catch her name, but she was just a wonderful

soul who was there for me.

She thought I was there for her, but she was really there for me.

And she was having a really tough time.

She'd been triggered by something, and she came up to me, and she said "will you help

me?", and she was crying.

And I said, you know, "of course", and I was able to kind of talk her through it.

I gave her a big hug and she felt a lot better.

For me, since Peru, it's all been about opening up more and letting go of all kinds

of walls that I might have, all kinds of defensive mechanisms.

Which, as an energy worker, is kind of a scary thing to do.

I kind of had to figure out, you know, what's the difference between letting go of all defensive

mechanisms and not having boundaries.

And I can talk more about that, if you want, in a subsequent video.

But…

I found more of that balance.

Because, as I was talking to this woman, and after I hugged her and sent her on her way,

I realized just what an absolute privilege it is, I reconnected with the feeling of what

an absolute privilege it is to be the person, to GET TO be that person for a lot of people.

The person that you come to, the person that you listen to, OMG, the person that you know

is going to make you feel better.

That is…

Ok… that is just such a privilege for me.

I was not expecting that.

And so I want to thank all of you guys.

For being that… for being that mirror for me.

For being there for me.

You know, I'm not just there for you, you're there for me.

And I need you just as much as you need me.

If not more.

And um, I think I kind of lost touch with that a little bit.

[Laughs] Yeah, none of this is getting edited out.

[laughs] So, I am challenging myself, it's part of a business master mind that I'm

a part of, I'm challenging myself to do a 30 day video challenge.

Which means that I'm going to publish a little video like this once a day for 30 days.

They're not going to be long videos, necessarily.

I'm not going to cry in every single one of them [laughs], don't worry.

But I think we're going to have a lot of fun.

And this is the direction that I really feel is the one that I want to take now.

It's to let you guys in more.

And hopefully you'll do the same.

Well, actually, a lot of you do let me in, so, it's kind of up to me to let you in

more.

But, hopefully you're in, you know?

And so, let me know what you think about this new direction in the comments.

I can't wait to hear from you guys.

Because, I want to have more conversations with you.

I want to have more engagement with you.

I'm showing up in a bigger way.

And you know what?

Maybe you what you can tell me is how do you want to challenge yourself to show up in a

bigger way?

I know that's not an easy question to answer.

God knows.

But, how do you want to show up in a bigger way.

I'd love to hear it.

Or any other thoughts that you have.

So… phew!

So, this is Melody Fletcher signing off a very unexpected little release of a video.

Thank you guys.

Thank you for bringing your light to the world.

I'll see you tomorrow.

Hot again with sunny skies and high UV levels - Duration: 1:42.

The capital saw its highest temperature of the season on Monday getting up to 28.3 degrees

Celsius... and the spring heat will continue today and into tomorrow getting up to 29 degrees.

We'll have to wait till Friday before things cool down as nationwide rain will push down

the highs to seasonal averages.

So today is going to be a hot one getting up to 28 degrees in Seoul while Gwangju and

Daejeon will top out at 27 degrees.

High to very high UV levels will beam down on the nation, and especially those in the

regions with very high UV levels will need to take all precautions because unprotected

skin can burn in minutes.

The air is getting drier each day with a dry weather advisory in place in many parts of

the country, including here in the capital, so drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

That's Korea for you and here's the international weather for viewers around the world.

Business clean up from weekend storms - Duration: 2:14.

There was a major impact from

Sunday's storm on businesses

It was certainly something

From the Ground Up: Building an Earth Science Satellite (HyspIRI Hawaii, Part 5) - Duration: 5:52.

[Music]

[Volcano Rumbling]

[Water flowing/bubbles]

>>I've been curious about the natural world since I was a very small child growing up

along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, where I very quickly learned to study all the different

animals and pick up trash, which led me to study marine science and oceanography in school.

And during my studies, I learned that the ocean was in a great deal of trouble from

human impacts- from overfishing, from pollution, as well as climate change, and I wanted to

do something about that, and for me, doing something meant using science and technology

to find novel ways to keep track of what was happening in the ocean, and look for solutions.

[Waves]

Coral reefs are valued at billions of dollars across the world for fisheries, sustenance

fisheries in island nations...

>>...tourism, and new compounds for the pharmaceutical industry

are two examples are how coral reefs have contributed a lot of money and generated wealth

for a lot of people.

We have this tremendous wealth of different types of ecosystems and species on this planet,

and having these reefs around to maintain a sort of biological stock of genetic uniqueness

is really important for genetic diversity, ecosystem health, and resilience of the ecosystem

in the face of things like climate change and other sort of stressors they may encounter

in the future.

>>They've been called the canary in the coal mine, they're one of the first marine ecosystems

to start to show very significant degradation from ocean temperatures increasing and ocean

acidification.

And they're simply aren't enough people that can be scuba diving in the water all the time

to tell you how the coral reefs are doing, so we need new ways to monitor them using

things like satellite imagery that can easily cover all parts of the world, even in places

that you can't very readily get a person to.

[Airplane taking off]

What the ER-2 is doing is telling us what coral reefs would look like from space.

[Airplane taking off]

[Water flowing/bubbles]

>>I'm an environmental scientist.

I study ecosystems.

I study how those ecosystems are impacted by external pressures such as climate and

population.

Our part in this project is to understand the color of coral reef signatures coming

out of the water.

What colors will the HyspIRI sensor see?

Live corals look very different from dead, algae-encrusted corals, and they look very

different from the surrounding un-colonized sand and coral rubble.

So by looking at the detailed spectrum of light coming out of the water in the visible and

near-infrared portion of the spectrum, we believe we'll be able to say something about

where the coral resides and how healthy it is.

In order to interpret the data that's being collected by the ER-2, you have to know something

about the inherent reflectance of the features on the ocean floor that we're interested in-

healthy coral, not healthy coral, bare sand, and rubble.

So what we're doing is we're measuring, in water,

the reflectance of the ocean floor, very close to the ocean floor.

But also we're deploying radiometers at the ocean surface, so that we can understand the

change in that color as it propagates through water column to the surface.

That's the information that needs to be taken into consideration when we try to interpret

the data in terms of coral health.

We have to essentially remove the effects of water.

>>This is something relatively new, using satellite imagery, using hyper-spectral imagery to categorize

coral reefs.

We're collecting bottom spectra underwater of coral, algae, and sand, so that we can

better use the hyper-spectral imagery to figure out how much coral or algae or sand there

are in each specific shot.

It's not immediately obvious in a satellite image whether a pixel is coral or algae and

how much coral is in it.

And to do that really well, we need to collect both pieces of information at the same time.

We need an airborne image, and we also need to know exactly what's going on in the

water.

We can be collecting in water data to match up with those specific images and so we know

that in a particular pixel there's a certain amount of coral, a certain amount of algae,

it better informs us how, in the future, we can remove the atmosphere and the water effects

from the satellite data.

[Background sound/chatter]

>>Our autonomous kayak system is a fully autonomous platform that's customizable, configureable,

and made entirely with off-the-shelf components.

It'll be towing an optical sled from the US Naval Research Laboratory, and we'll also

have it towing a YSI XO2 water quality parameter monitoring sonde, which gives us the ability

to measure chlorophyll A, fluorescent dissolved organic matter, pH, temperature, and salinity.

[Music]

>>These sensors are providing timely, and volume of data necessary to understand not only coral

reef ecosystems, but all the other kinds of ecosystems around the world, in the ocean

and on land.

And the only way we can save these ecosystems is to understand how they respond and then

develop mitigation methods so that we can help them out.

So that we can live with them.

let's write a song about

the rainy day

oh ya it's coming down

I'm going to sing the day away

and all the feeling's coming out

all the feeling's coming out

let's write a song about

what we used to have

oh it sure was good,

but sometimes, it was bad...

so let's sing about a rainy day

let's not focus on what got away

and all the feeling's coming out

and all the feeling's coming out

and all the feeling's coming out

cos on a rainy day

it's easy to get lost

and on a rainy day

it's easy to stay indoors

and on a rainy day

it's easy to get lost

in all the feelings coming out

[ooooh]

and all the feeling coming out

[guitar solo]

let's write a song about

the rainy day

oh it's coming down

i'm gonna sing the day away

all the feelings coming out

and all the feelings coming out

and all the feelings coming out

it's raining today

this is me earlier

and I thought it would be really fun to start off the month by doing an improvised song

based on today

so i spent some time in the rain

walkin' around, kinda got a melody

worked on it a little bit, went for a walk

came back

and i just recorded it.

It's not a perfect song, but it

shows the process of sort of

how ideas come together

a lot of times people ask me how i take an idea that i have and turn it into a song

i thought i would share a process that i use a lot

which is just c'mon in, write a song

improvise, think of the lyrics quickly

have them flow out in a melody, and use that as a template

to work on a song further, or just use it

as an exercise. I hope you enjoyed this video and

i hope you found it helpful and constructive

and I'd love to hear what you do as an exercise in your craft

leave it down below

I'll see you tomorrow. Stay cool! As always, cooler than me.

What's Up for May?

Jupiter at its best,

Saturn rises in the late evening sky,

and the moon dances with the planets.

Hello and welcome! I'm Jane Houston Jones from

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Jupiter climbs higher in the southeast sky

earlier in the evening this month.

This means that telescope viewers don't have to

wait until midnight to get good views of the planet.

You can enjoy Jupiter through binoculars, too.

Through binoculars, you should be able to see

Jupiter's four Galilean moons:

Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto

and watch them change position from night to night.

Our moon appears near Jupiter from May 5-8.

The moon joins Venus and Mercury in the eastern sky

just before sunrise on May 22 and 23.

And it pairs up with red Mars just after sunset

in the west-northwest sky on May 26.

[ whoosh ]

Saturn is now visible before midnight,

rising around 11:30 p.m. in early May

and by 9:30 p.m. later in the month.

The best time to see Saturn is when it is highest in the sky.

That's after midnight this month,

before midnight in June,

and by early evening in July.

Through your telescope you may see some of Saturn's cloud bands

and even a glimpse at Saturn's north polar region,

so beautifully captured by NASA's Cassini spacecraft.

You can catch up on solar systems (like Cassini)

and all of NASA's missions at: www.nasa.gov

That's all for this month. I'm Jane Houston Jones.
