Can we go 'Super' in Sonic Forces?
With that, we're talking about the new Custom Hero that will be playable in this game, of course.
Will he or she be able to go 'Super', or have something like a Super Form? I'm seeing this question floating around a lot,
so I thought that today will be as good a day as any to talk about this topic, and see what the odds of this happening actually are.
Now personally, I think that there's a good chance that this may happen.
We have two Sonics in this game, who will both be able to go 'Super'.
So it would be weird if they let this ability out for our Custom Hero Character.
Now let's be honest here: I think none of the Sonics will take the role of the main character in this game.
I"ve talked about this in a previous video as well. The player creates the New Hero Character, so the main focus of this whole game shifts toward this new character.
Even if the character recreated will not have any voice acting or anything like that, I still think that this new character will take the leading part in this game,
just because the player invested time to make their own character to play as.
Just look at the way they are posed right here. Our Custom Hero is in the front, with our two Sonics in the back.
Now I'm not saying that our two Sonics won't have a big role, I just think our new Custom Hero will have a bigger role,
and even if I'm wrong, there's no arguing that the new Custom Hero we created will at least have as large of a part in this game as our two Sonics,
seeing how it's advertised as the third gameplay style. So either their impact and role in the story itself will be evenly split, or more focussed on our Custom Hero.
But why does this matter at all? Well, imagine we do get a final boss where our Sonics go 'Super', and our main character, the Custom Hero, just stands there.
Just doing nothing. In front of our Sonics and not transforming at all.
Meanwhile, in the background we see the most high definiton Super Sonic transformation we've seen in the history of Sonic, twice.
Would be a weird sight, wouldn't it?
But there's no doubt in my mind that if we get a final boss or something like that, and we get to see our two Sonics go Super,
That we'll also get a transformation for our Custom Hero as well, since he has such a big role in this game.
So before we start thinking about how high the chance of our Custom Hero getting a Super Form or something like that will be,
we need to know how high the chance of our two Sonics to get a Super Form is.
Sonic Forces is obviously a Main Series Sonic title, meaning that it will fit in with the rest of the main series' Sonic games.
So how many times have we gotten to see a Super Sonic in these main series' games?
Well, I took a look into this, and punt all the main series or 'canon' Sonic games together, and looked at how many of these had a Super Sonic in them.
I know some people argue about this kind of stuff all the time, so here's a quick look at the games that I think should be considered a Main Series Sonic title for this little comparison.
(titles show)
I know that not everyone would agree with this selection of games being canon, or even a Main Series Sonic game.
But let's just put our differences on that aside for now. In all of the afore mentioned games, there are two games where you won't be able to play as, or see, Super Sonic.
Or in Shadow's case, Super Shadow. These two games are Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic CD.
But wait. Super Sonic didn't even exist when those two games came out.
So basically, in every Main Series Sonic game, from Sonic CD onward, there has been a Super Sonic.
So there's no doubt that they will bring him back in this game as well. Just look at how hard they are trying to please the fans by bringing all these old villains back.
Considering all this that I've just said, I think it will be weird for them to not include Super Sonic in this game.
So now that we're almost a 100% certain on Super Sonic returning in Sonic Forces, we should also be able to say this about our own Custom Hero, right?
Well, maybe. It would be weird if our Custom Hero would be left in the dust by our two Sonics, especially now that he's such a key figure in this game, but that doesn't necessarily mean that our Custom Hero will get a Super Form, just like our Sonics will.
I think that something will happen to our Custom Hero, meaning that we will have a transformation of some kind, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the same yellowish Super Form, that we've come to know and love about Sonic.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not excluding this option whatsoever. I won't be surprised if our Custom Hero does turn out to have the same exact yellow Super Form, that we've seen so much before.
But there are also many other possibilities in terms of transformations for our new Custom Hero.
It all depends on what kind of approach Sonic Team will take. It won't be the first time they would've tried their hands at alternate versions of Super Form, even if they were mostly all for Sonic.
Still, there are many possibilities. You could amost say that the possibilities are never ending (LOL XD, *funky tune starts).
So let's look at some of the possibilities that I think have the most chance of making it.
First off, let's say they were to go by the logic of 'only hedgehogs can transform into their kind of Super Form with the power of the Chaos Emeralds'.
I mean, look at it this way. Excluding the Super Emeralds' hyper transformation in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which made Tails and Knuckles also able to go Super,
hedgehogs being the only ones that can transform into a Super Form like they can, is pretty much what we've been let to believe, right?
Except for Blaze in Sonic Rush, maybe, but that too is not exactly a Super Form as we know from hedgehogs like Sonic, Silver and Shadow.
Taking this into account, it might mean that if we were to make a hedgehog in this game, you'd be able to get a Super Form like Sonic, Shadow or Silver,
with slight differences in the yellowish color depending on what color you made your Custom Hero's fur in the first place.
That would actually be a pretty cool thing to see, now that I think about it. But what would this mean for the other animal types?
Well, for a cat, you might get a burning Super Form like Blaze has in Sonic Rush, simply known as Burning Blaze.
Although she did use the Chaos Emeralds' equivalent from another dimension, the Soul Emeralds.
However, if a cat would be able to use the power of the Soul Emeralds to transform, then why wouldn't they be able to use the power of the Chaos Emeralds as well?
We could get really deep into theorizing about this specific topic, including how energy sources work in the Sonic Universe,
but that's a video for another day. Let's just go with the idea that in this dimension, according to this specific theory about hedgehogs being the only ones with a yellow Super Form,
cats will be able to transform with the Chaos Emeralds and acquire something different than the Super Form hedgehogs get.
Like, for instance, the burning Blaze Super Form, or something akin to that.
And other animals might be able to have similar Super Forms varying per species.
I think this would be a really cool idea for them to implement, and that they would make a lot of people really happy by not only surprising their fans with different Super Forms per species, but this would also make this whole Super Form business a lot more logical and realistic.
At least, that's the way I feel about it, and I think a lot of people would share this thought.
Another possibility is that this Super Form of our Custom Hero will be a bit more universally appliable by making it have to do with the wisps, or maybe even the wispon.
Honestly, this is something I only see happening if this Super Form will be one of those that we will only be able to use in a Final Boss battle, and not in the stages themselves.
It would still be pretty cool though. Maybe your wispon will transform in some kind of full body armor, and give you access to some tremendous hyper go-on power,
or maybe your Custom Hero will be able to fuse with the wisps at the end of the story, kind of like Sonic did in Colors,
but instead of this leading to a very powerful attack, it might lead to some kind of transformation, where he's in a state where he can use all kinds of different wispon attacks, or maybe even switch them out or something.
For this transformation, there are a lot of different options as well, so let's not get too specific with this.
I do think there's a good chance of this wisp form or whatever to beat this Super Form for our new character, and as long as they're creative with this, I'd probably enjoy this being the case.
Then there's also the possibilty they give every different animal you can choose, the same yellowish kind of Super Form that the hedgehogs have.
I think that there's a solid chance that this might happen as well, just as much as the two things I've mentioned before.
But honestly, I really hope this won't be the case. I think there are so many ways you could get really creative with this, and just making every species have the same kind of Super Form, that we've all become so familiar with, will be kind of bland.
Not that I would dislike it, but it wouldn't be as nice as some variation between species or for instance, the wisp form we were talking about before.
Another option is that our Custom Hero's Super Form will just be a lighter colored version of the color that you gave your Custom Hero.
Maybe with some aura with that exact same color around him, or herself.
Personally, I think that this will be a great alternative for the -hedgehog Super Forms applied to everyone-situation.
While it's not as interesting as variety between species' Super Forms, it does add some variety for each person's individual Custom Hero character, which makes each character a bit more unique, and different from another.
So I'd be cool with this being the case as well. And just as the other options I've mentioned, I think that there's a solid chance that this one might happen as well.
So here we are: four different options for a Super Form or transformation for our Custom Hero.
I think that most of these are pretty solid options, and I can't wait to see what decision Sonic Team will make in this regard.
I'm pretty much convinced that there will be a Super Form or something like that for our Custom Character, also because I think it would be a huge waste for them not to do something like this.
Well, maybe the Custom Hero will turn out to be the bad guy at the end of the story.
I've seen some people thinking that that might be an option as well.
But if that won't be the case, I can pretty much guarantee that our Custom Hero will have the Super Form.
But what do you think? Will our Custom Hero be able to go Super in Sonic Forces?
And in what way will he be able to go Super?
I'd love to hear all your ideas and theories in the comment section down below. I'll also make a little poll about which of these Super Form variants would be the most likely to happen according to you guys.
So make sure to vote on that as well. It should be appearing in the upper right corner right....now.
