that there is something else apart from just having fun,
a strong feeling that forces him to come back and try to be better.

but years, decades and a whole life.
The game defines their existance.
With the passing of the years that kid is now a pro player
who shares a dream with a whole nation,
both of them hungry for victory.
In 2009 after a long wait of 72 years
the Hungarian national team was playing at the elite of the world.
7 years after the team has again the chance
to be back with the very best.
But this time with more experience,
more knowledge
and with the strength of younger generations.
We followed under scope the Hungarian National team
on their road to the World Championship at St.Petersburg 2016,
a long way,
many training hours, challenges, sacrifices
but most importantly
the desire of reaching the dream of not only be within the best teams,
but being one of them,
become an elite team...
It is hockey that makes them to keep believing.

In '98 we got from Group C to B
and practically 10 years later we managed to jump one more group.
So within 10 years we could jump up two groups
which is unique in the hockey world.

Slovenia did not look as if they were going to get tired as the game went on.
It was clear that Hungary won't be able to make it equal.

Hungarian team started strong empowered by the 2500 fans who packed the stadium,
but 5 minutes into the game are the Kazhaks who strike first in their first power play.

and managed to continue the high paced back and forth game.
The goalkeepers of each team stood tall in goal protecting their nets.
The third period started off like the second period,
scoring chances on both ends with the goalies playing great.
In the 43th minute Gergő Nagy pushed a Kazakh guard to the boards behind the oppenent's goal
creating like this more tension between the teams.
This continued on until about ten minutes when the momentum of the game abruptly change course,
after a local defensive lapse Kazakhstan had a two on one that they managed to score on to tie the game up.
Hungary had a late penalty that they managed to kill,
however minutes later Brandon Bochenski jumped on a loose puck and put it past Bálizs near side.
Just like the previous night a faithful crowd filled the stadium
to salute their warriors before leaving to St. Petersburg.
This time the rival team is Russia 'B'.
The game started off at a fast pace as it was expected from the Russians
with both teams creating scoring chances,
but non of the teams hold back in the hunt for an early edge.
Russia had two early power plays that
the Hungarians managed to kill.
Our people fought excellent, clever and desciplined and they took advantages from their chances.
11 minuites passed when
an inspired Kevin Wehrs took a pass from the corner by Gergő Nagy and Dániel Kóger,
and fired it past the Russian keeper to make it 1-0.
The Russian defense couldn't do anything to stop the Hungarian attack.
Everyone works with 5, with 5!

It seemed the energetic words of Coach Chernomaz had an impact on the players
and the guys hit the ice with no shortage of ferocity.
The Hungarian team controlled the match.
Bartalis brought the puck around and centered the puck to Sofron who used a Russian as a screen and doubled the Hungarian lead.
The Hungarian fans were so glad to see the scoreboard with the 2 goal lead by the locals.
But after a minute and a half, this announcement has changed.
The Russians in an unexpected penalty took advantage through Mamin who scored with a precise and powerful shot.
As planned Hungary switched goalies with Vay coming in for Bálizs.

and it didn't take long for Russia to score against Vay and tie the game up.
The balance of the game in the third period was started to tip in the favor of the Russians as they were visible in control,
however Hungarians were motivated and energized.
Ádám Vay made a number of great saves in net.
With nine seconds left in the 2-2 game, Hungary called time out.
At last neither team managed to score.
In the 5 minutes long extra session the battle went on, both teams created chances,
however neither side was able to convert,
forcing the shoot outs to define the winner.
After 2-1 the retreating Viktor Tokaji get the opportunity,
but Sorokin experiencted and skills helped the Russians to obtained the victory.
Final score 3-2 for the visitor team.
I knew that the best goal keeper of KHL was in front of me.
Mentally I played the whole game but not physically,
and so after 65 minutes it is not as easy to shoot a penalty.
I tried the old thing which I would say had worked before.
Well, now against him it did not work.

A real athlete is the one who goes back to keep working
and trying to be better.
Specially in defeat is where we get to know the real champions.
After all, it's not whether you get knocked down,
it's whether you get up!
It was tough for the whole team
as we believed that we could succeed
to stay in the group for the next year.
But I think there is nothing wrong with that,
as we just managed to get to the group again after quite a long time
and with more team work we could get much more out of it
and next time certainly we will stay in.
Everyone said that we would travel there
and hold on and everyone would be happy with the result,
the guys would not win a match.
When we go to the ice, I feel that they are not aliens.
They wear the same skates, they have the same stick in their hands.
They are at a higher level, but they are not more special.
They are the same as us, but they work much more.
We need to make up the gap and
we could reach nice results in the future.
I feel that we are right now at our best strength
and the next 3-4 years could be the top for us.
Hockey players have a simple way of rising to the top
hard work, ambition,sacrifice and skills.
Is how they harvest their talents,
is how they find purpose in such a hard sport,
is how they work for representing their people,
because is through hockey how they tell to the world
who they are.
We did a better job than anyone would have expected of us.
Next year we will manage to play in division 1A
so we can go out again.
We still have a lot to improve
but there is so much potential ability in the young generation,
