Was high school a jail or a school for me? - Duration: 6:35.
A few days ago I talked about junior high and said that I was excited to be there at
Lakeview Junior High.
Well, let's move onto high school.
I went to Downers Grove South High School which was in the same school district as Lakeview.
Now some students love high school and some hate it.
So you have a love and hate relationship among students.
Guess where I fell under?
That's right.
I hated it with a capital H. I felt like I was in jail for four years.
Why did I hate it so much?
I will talk about three reasons for hating high school so much.
The first thing was that I had no aides with me in my classes.
You are saying so what.
When you have to rely on other students for notes, you have to listen really well in class
or read the textbook.
Most of the time you couldn't read them at all.
The handwriting was terrible.
Another reason was that the student might not have written something down that might
be important because they didn't think it was important or they knew it already.
So I couldn't do anything about it.
Besides bad notes, I could not start doing homework if the teacher gave us time to start
it.
If it was like ten minutes of class, I could not find a person in the special education
room and start my homework in ten minutes.
So I just sat there and waited.
I did all of my homework at home.
Everything took time.
I was up until midnight or later doing homework.
I was so tired and couldn't think straight.
Weekends were fun.
Right?
The answer is a big and fat NO!
I worked on homework Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday.
I said that high school was a jail for me.
When tests came especially English and math, they always took longer than the class time.
Four of the five days I had therapy during my study hall.
Finish a test instead of going to therapy was against the law.
I felt like education was not important for the staff there.
I had tests waiting to be finished for days.
I had a math test right before Christmas break.
I had to wait for two weeks to finish it.
It was no fun at all.
The second thing was making friends.
That was not on my radar.
I am not saying that I didn't want to have friends rather I didn't have time to talk
with friends.
Between classes, we just had five minutes to get to our next class, and we had three
floors with one elevator.
We had between 3000 and 4000 students in the halls.
The hallway was jam packed so when I used my power chair, I hit students by accident,
some of them called names at me.
Back in the 80's, there was no bullying like today.
I feel bad for the students who are being bullied because it really hurts when students
call you names.
In my high school, the students didn't remember that I hit them so that helped somewhat.
I didn't want to use my power chair because I was scared of hitting people and be called
names.
Like I said before that I had friends in Junior high.
Since we moved to the same high school, why didn't I hang out with them?
That is a valid question.
Now Downers Grove South High School is huge comparing to Lakeview.
You could not find your friends.
I have to be fed so I ate in the special ed room rather than in the regular cafeteria.
So I could not find them during lunch if I wanted to.
Besides that, there were six periods for lunch so I might not find my friends even though
I ate in the cafeteria.
You are asking about parties.
Since I didn't have any close friends, nobody invited me to parties at all.
You see why I call high school jail.
I went to the homecoming dances every year, but they were not fun as in Junior high because
most of the students had girlfriends or boyfriends.
When you saw girls who you liked with guys, you felt lonely and out of place.
I know that all of this sounds morbid, but I wanted to give you a clear picture of what
high school was like for me.
If you are a parent of a child with a disability, your child might have the same experience
as me or it might be worse.
Who knows.
I wanted to give you a clear picture of what I felt like during high school.
Did my parents know how I felt?
The answer is no.
If I told them back then, what could they do?
I don't think they could do much.
If my mom talked to the staff, they would say to drop some classes and go one more year
to high school.
I didn't want to do that at all.
During my Junior year, they asked me if I wanted to stay one more year or two.
I said one more year and I knew that they didn't like it.
I didn't care one bit.
Looking back on high school, I made the right decision.
You will understand why in the next video about college.
I hope that you like this video.

I really appreciate it.

Nurse says she was arrested for doing her job - Duration: 1:11.
The head nurse at the University of Utah Hospital's burn unit was arrested July 26 after she told a Salt Lake City police detective he wasn't allowed to draw blood from a patient.
By all accounts, the head nurse at the University of Utah Hospital's burn unit was professional and restrained when she told a Salt Lake City police detective he wasn't allowed to draw blood from a badly injured patient.
The detective didn't have a warrant, first off. And the patient wasn't conscious, so he couldn't give consent. Without that, the detective was barred from collecting blood samples — not just by hospital policy, but by basic constitutional law.
Still, Detective Jeff Payne insisted that he be let in to take the blood, saying the nurse would be arrested and charged if she refused.
Nurse Alex Wubbels politely stood her ground. She got her supervisor on the phone so Payne could hear the decision loud and clear. "Sir," said the supervisor, "you're making a huge mistake because you're threatening a nurse."
Payne snapped. He seized hold of the nurse, shoved her out of the building and cuffed her hands behind her back. A bewildered Wubbels screamed "help me"
and "you're assaulting me" as the detective forced her into an unmarked car and accused her of interfering with an investigation.
On Friday, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said he wanted a criminal investigation into the incident. Salt Lake Mayor Jackie Biskupski apologized to the nurse in a statement, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
extend a personal apology to Ms. Wubbels for what she has been through for simply doing her job."
For now, Wubbels is not taking any legal action against police. But she's not ruling it out.

FIFTY SHADES FREED' STAR JAMIE DORNAN WAS A PART OF THIS BAND BEFORE TEAM UP WITH DAKOTA JOHNSON - Duration: 2:45.
FIFTY SHADES FREED' STAR JAMIE DORNAN WAS A PART OF THIS BAND BEFORE TEAM-UP WITH DAKOTA
JOHNSON
Jamie Dornan is now famously known as the actor who portrayed the handsome yet controversial
Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades trilogy.
However, being an actor was not Dakota Johnson's leading man's one and only job during his
earlier career.
Before becoming a household name and every woman's fantasy, the 35-year-old Irish actor
was a part of a "folk band" called Sons of Jim.
Although Jamie Dornan already started his acting career at the time, the Fifty Shades
Freed star was also juggling his time as a front man of the band he put up with school
friend David Alexander.
In fact, Jamie Dornan was so involved with the band that he even participated in writing
their songs.
One particular track called "Only On The Outside" was reportedly about his split
from Keira Knightley.
The actor seemingly blamed the Pirates of the Caribbean star's friends for the end
of their two-year relationship.
Even though the Fifty Shades Freed actor's band had plenty of gigs in London at the time,
Sons of Jim's lifespan eventually ended after Jamie Dornan's acting career finally
took off.
Despite his quick stint in Sons of Jim, Jamie Dornan shared that being in the band actually
led him to where he is now.
Having to perform a lot in different cities, the Fifty Shades Freed star then realized
that he wanted to become an actor.
Now, Jamie Dornan is rubbing elbows with Hollywood's A-list stars and has become successful more
than he probably ever predicted.
Meanwhile, his popularity came with a price.
Jamie Dornan is repeatedly being romantically linked with his Fifty Shades trilogy co-star
Dakota Johnson.
It's no secret that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have amazing on-screen chemistry,
making the portrayal of their iconic characters highly effective.
Because of that, the Fifty Shades Freed co-stars have been the subject of dating rumors despite
Dornan's four-year marriage to singer and actress Amelia Warner.
Although there were a lot of whispers and speculation that Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey)
and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) may have taken their on-screen romance off-screen,
they revealed that it wasn't the case at all.
The Fifty Shades Freed actor is still very much married to Amelia Warner and he and the
How To Be Single actress are actually good friends in real life.

OBAMA IS DONE! The NSA Released The Evidence Trump Was Looking For! - Duration: 19:56.
OBAMA IS DONE!
The NSA Released The Evidence Trump Was Looking For!
WASHINGTON - In the Obama administration's last days, some White House officials scrambled
to spread information about Russian efforts to undermine the presidential election - and
about possible contacts between associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump and Russians
- across the government.
Former American officials say they had two aims: to ensure that such meddling isn't duplicated
in future American or European elections, and to leave a clear trail of intelligence
for government investigators.
American allies, including the British and the Dutch, had provided information describing
meetings in European cities between Russian officials - and others close to Russia's president,
Vladimir V. Putin - and associates of President-elect Trump, according to three former American
officials who requested anonymity in discussing classified intelligence.
Separately, American intelligence agencies had intercepted communications of Russian
officials, some of them within the Kremlin, discussing contacts with Trump associates.
According to a former senior American official, he met with the Russian ambassador, Sergey
I. Kislyak, twice in the past year.
The details of the meetings were not clear, but the contact appeared to contradict testimony
Mr. Sessions provided Congress during his confirmation hearing in January when he said
he "Did not have communications with the Russians."
Mr. Sessions said in a statement late Wednesday that he "Never met with any Russian officials
to discuss issues of the campaign."
Mr. Trump has denied that his campaign had any contact with Russian officials, and at
one point he openly suggested that American spy agencies had cooked up intelligence suggesting
that the Russian government had tried to meddle in the presidential election.
At the Obama White House, Mr. Trump's statements stoked fears among some that intelligence
could be covered up or destroyed - or its sources exposed - once power changed hands.
What followed was a push to preserve the intelligence that underscored the deep anxiety with which
the White House and American intelligence agencies had come to view the threat from
Moscow.
Sean Spicer, the Trump White House spokesman, said, "The only new piece of information that
has come to light is that political appointees in the Obama administration have sought to
create a false narrative to make an excuse for their own defeat in the election."
He added, "There continues to be no there, there."
As Inauguration Day approached, Obama White House officials grew convinced that the intelligence
was damning and that they needed to ensure that as many people as possible inside government
could see it, even if people without security clearances could not.
Some officials began asking specific questions at intelligence briefings, knowing the answers
would be archived and could be easily unearthed by investigators - including the Senate Intelligence
Committee, which in early January announced an inquiry into Russian efforts to influence
the election.
At intelligence agencies, there was a push to process as much raw intelligence as possible
into analyses, and to keep the reports at a relatively low classification level to ensure
as wide a readership as possible across the government - and, in some cases, among European
allies.
This allowed the upload of as much intelligence as possible to Intellipedia, a secret wiki
used by American analysts to share information.
"When the intelligence community does that type of comprehensive review, it is standard
practice that a significant amount of information would be compiled and documented."
The opposite happened with the most sensitive intelligence, including the names of sources
and the identities of foreigners who were regularly monitored.
More than a half-dozen current and former officials described various aspects of the
effort to preserve and distribute the intelligence, and some said they were speaking to draw attention
to the material and ensure proper investigation by Congress.
Separately, the House and Senate intelligence committees are conducting their own investigations,
though they must rely on information collected by the F.B.I. and intelligence agencies.
On Wednesday, a Justice Department official confirmed that Mr. Sessions had two conversations
with Ambassador Kislyak last year, when he was still a senator, despite testifying at
his Jan. 10 confirmation hearing that he had no contact with the Russians.
He added that if there was, "It is clear to me that Jeff Sessions, who is my dear friend,
cannot make this decision about Trump."
At his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, former Senator Dan Coats, Mr. Trump's nominee
for director of national intelligence, told the Senate Intelligence Committee that "I
think it's our responsibility to provide you access to all that you need."
Some Obama White House officials had little faith that a Trump administration would make
good on such pledges, and the efforts to preserve the intelligence continued until the administration's
final hours.
This was partly because intelligence was still being collected and analyzed, but it also
reflected the sentiment among many administration officials that they had not recognized the
scale of the Russian campaign until it was too late.
As WikiLeaks was pushing out emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee through
online publication, American intelligence began picking up conversations in which Russian
officials were discussing contacts with Trump associates, and European allies were starting
to pass along information about people close to Mr. Trump meeting with Russians in the
Netherlands, Britain and other countries.
It wasn't until after the election, and after more intelligence had come in, that the administration
began to grasp the scope of the suspected tampering and concluded that one goal of the
campaign was to help tip the election in Mr. Trump's favor.
In early December, Mr. Obama ordered the intelligence community to conduct a full assessment of
the Russian campaign.
In the weeks before the assessment was released in January, the intelligence community combed
through databases for an array of communications and other information - some of which was
months old by then - and began producing reports that showed there were contacts during the
campaign between Trump associates and Russian officials.
The New York Times, citing four current and former officials, reported last month that
the American authorities had obtained information of repeated contacts between Mr. Trump's associates
and senior Russian intelligence officials.
Since the Feb. 14 article appeared, more than a half-dozen officials have confirmed contacts
of various kinds between Russians and Trump associates.
The label "Intelligence official" is not always cleanly applied in Russia, where ex-spies,
oligarchs and government officials often report back to the intelligence services and elsewhere
in the Kremlin.
Steven L. Hall, the former head of Russia operations at the C.I.A., said that Mr. Putin
was surrounded by a cast of characters, and that it was "Fair to say that a good number
of them come from an intelligence or security background.
Once an intel guy, always an intel guy in Russia."
The concerns about the contacts were cemented by a series of phone calls between Mr. Kislyak
and Michael T. Flynn, who had been poised to become Mr. Trump's national security adviser.
The calls began on Dec. 29, shortly after Mr. Kislyak was summoned to the State Department
and informed that, in retaliation for Russian election meddling, the United States was expelling
35 suspected Russian intelligence operatives and imposing other sanctions.
A day later, Mr. Putin said his government would not retaliate, prompting a Twitter post
from Mr. Trump praising the Russian president - and puzzling Obama White House officials.
American intelligence agencies routinely wiretap the phones of Russian diplomats, and transcripts
of the calls showed that Mr. Flynn urged the Russians not to respond, saying relations
would improve once Mr. Trump was in office, according to multiple current and former officials.
American intelligence agencies made it clear in the declassified version of the intelligence
assessment released in January that they believed Russia intended to use its attacks on the
United States
as a template
for
more meddling.

Selena Gomez is 'preparing' for private photos leak after her Instagram account was hacked
Fans of Selena Gomez were left astonished when nude photos of the singer were leaked on her Instagram account this week. Unfortunately, the scandal doesnt look like its going to end anytime soon for the 25-year-old, who is reportedly preparing herself for a leak of private photos and messages after her social media page became a target, reported The Sun.
The It Aint Me singer is amongst a list of public figures who have been told to take an increased care with the security of their personal accounts due to a number of alleged hackings.
A source told the publication: Many of the biggest celebrities in the world will be very concerned about this. Many use Instagram for chatting privately and swapping pics with friends.
A lot will be hastily deleting things to stop anything embarrassing getting out in the hope that it's not too late. Instagram has admitted a bug in its system is to blame for Selena Gomez's account being hacked earlier this week.
Before Selena's Instagram account was deleted on Monday, it was hacked posted naked pictures of her former boyfriend Justin Bieber.
Several pictures of Bieber were posted on the account, which appeared to have been taken in 2015 during his trip to Bora Bora – the trip in which pics of a nude Biebs were taken by paparazzi and then published on US websites.
And now the social media picture-sharing site says the bug allowed at least one person to access high-profile users' private information, such as email addresses and phone numbers.
A spokesperson for the social media firm said on Wednesday: 'We recently discovered that one or more individuals obtained unlawful access to a number of high-profile Instagram users' contact information – specifically email address and phone number – by exploiting a bug in an Instagram API.
'No account passwords were exposed. We fixed the bug swiftly and are running a thorough investigation.
'At this point, we believe this effort was targeted at high-profile users so, out of an abundance of caution, we are notifying our verified account holders of this issue.' While it is unlikely the bug alone was the cause of the breach to Gomez's account, as it did not expose passwords, it may have aided attempts by hackers.
Selena's account has since been restored, minus the pics of her ex Bieber, who she dated on and off from 2010 to 2015.
The Hands To Myself singer has now moved on with Bella Hadids ex-boyfriend The Weeknd who she has been dating since the start of the year – just weeks after the supermodel spilt from him. .

Lukaku reveals no release clause was included in £75milion Man Utd transfer
Romelu Lukaku has revealed that there is no release clause in his Manchester United contract as he intends to spend "a very long time" at the club.
The Belgium international secured a £75 million switch to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window. That move has allowed him to fulfil his ambition of gracing the Champions League and challenging for top honours.
At 24 years of age there is the possibility that he could go chasing further dreams elsewhere in the future, but Lukaku insists he is planning to stick around with the Red Devils for some considerable time.
Pressed on whether a release clause was included in the deal which took him to the Theatre of Dreams, the powerful striker told DH: "I don't have one, but I'm very happy. I hope I stay there for a very long time.".
United's deal for Lukaku has been made to look like very shrewd business, given the start to life he has made at Old Trafford – with four goals in as many games.
His price tag also appears favourable, with the record-breaking €222 million move of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain raising asking prices across the board.
Lukaku is reluctant to speculate to what he could be worth in the future, when supposedly at the peak of his powers, with a proven frontman eager to avoid putting a price on his own head.
He added: "I'm not going to leave. I'm happy over there. Manchester United is a big club.".
Lukaku has helped United to set the early pace in the Premier League title race, with Jose Mourinho's side yet to drop a point or concede a goal.
He has carried his fine form into the international break, with a r on Thursday.
