Hey there, I'm Rick Heins.

>> And I'm Shane Nicholas and we are the Fender Amp guys,

we've been here a long time.

Today, we're coming at you from the Fender offices in Scottsdale, Arizona.

And we're very excited to discuss Mustang GT 2.0.

This is a very exciting, yet unusual launch for

us, because it's not actually a new product.

It's Mustang GT amplifiers that have been out for a little while now.

But we've taken the last year in updating the operating system, the features,

the sounds, amp models, effects and so much more.

Now Rick, you've worked on this as much as I did.

You wrote presets.

You filmed videos.

What are your most exciting experiences with the stuff?

>> Well, I'm an old school metal head,

so I think the high gain tones are some of the things I'm excited about.

The BE 100 sounds amazing to me.

I love that we put the Bass Breaker 15 in there.

Those sound great.

The mythical overdrive is such a cool-sounding overdrive

when you mix that with a clean Fender amp.

And then just the backup and restore, it's just the ability to take all your presets,

save them on the cloud.

And then you can go somewhere around the world, open up a box, and

download it directly, and have all your presets.

That's amazing.

[MUSIC]

>> So when we're modeling an amp, we go through stage by stage and

verify that our model is doing the same thing that the original one did.

We verify stage by stage that all of the voltages are exactly

doing the same thing, the output is the same thing,

to make sure that we're true to that amp that we're trying to model.

>> There was a satisfying moment when we were working on the mythic drive,

we worked hard on this one and we would go back and forth doing sound samples and

trying it out, versus the real thing.

And at some point, after a lot of tweaks,

we would switch between the two AB tests and we couldn't hear the difference.

And that was probably the most satisfying,

where you can really say your model's right on.

>> The great thing about working here is that if I have a problem during

the analysis of something like this '65 Twin, I can go down the hall and

talk to the engineer that did the deep dive originally,

25 years ago, to do the reissue.

>> I, and I can say this for everybody, we really put our hearts and

brains into this.

We really thought about what the user, or the player would want, and

we went after that.

And we really put everything into this.

[MUSIC]

>> It's really neat that our co-workers and friends and

stuff all bring in their cool amps.

And vintage Fender tweeds and black faces and all that stuff.

Other amps, British amps, boutique amps, and we listened to them all.

And we don't just talk about the hardware and the technical aspects of it,

we talk about what music was made on these.

>> That's the part that's cool is that really did take the time to bring in

the amplifiers to get it right, to make the sounds authentic,

as close as we could.

Because I mean, the people that work here, they care deeply about making sure we

get this right and they do it, and they do it well.

[MUSIC]

>> I am super proud of the job that we've done in making these amps sound

as close sound as close as we can to the originals.

>> You want it to be second nature to just sit down with the amp and

immediately go like, well yeah, that's the sound.

>> Making the interface seamless so

that the user does not have to think about how to use the amp but

stay in their creative zone is what we tried to do with the Mustang GT.

>> The biggest dream for an amplifier like this, or

any product like this, is it to be limitless.

Like, no bounds at all, I mean, whatever you dream or think of, or

accidentally stumble upon, should be possible.

>> This is a rigorous process, going through proving

out our model stage by stage with the actual amp.

But it's well worth it and

it makes the model sound that much closer to the original.

>> Working on the Mustang GT amplifier was important to me and

it meant something to me.

It's because of how much versatility the GT

amplifiers have and a player can create zone music and

spread joy with it is a very satisfactory thought for me.

[MUSIC]

>> Pretty amazing with the Mustang 2.0 update.

We've got all those new amp models, new effects models.

Really, when you download it, it's like getting a whole new amplifier.

>> So thanks to everybody for checking out Mustang GT Fender 2.0.

>> And stay tuned in here for more videos.

Life Inside the Migrant Caravan: 'Everyone Is Tired' | Dispatches - Duration: 4:50.

[crowd noise]

That young woman is Yoselin.

And this baby is her niece Genesis.

Yoselin is determined to keep going, and has one goal:

to get to the U.S. border.

[crowd noise]

Yoselin is 23.

She's traveling from Honduras with

her 5-year-old daughter, Yaniza, and three sisters,

Yorleni, Estefani and Sandra, who also has a daughter

and is three months pregnant.

We meet Yoselin in the town of Huixtla,

where thousands of migrants are resting for a few hours.

It's 4 a.m.

Yoselin and her family start walking with the rest

of the migrant caravan.

They've been on the road for nine days,

and it could be weeks before they reach

their final destination.

For now, the next stop is about 40 miles away.

Yoselin's comforted by the number

of people in the caravan.

But still, they're strangers to her,

and she worries about her family's safety.

It's 7:45.

It's getting hotter and more humid,

and there's still 30 miles to go.

She stops anyway.

They've been walking for about four hours,

and they haven't had any food or even

water since the night before.

Those who are lucky, and quick, can hitch a ride.

Police officers step in to help, and flag down vehicles.

And there's finally an opportunity.

Community groups and individuals

hand out beverages, food and clothes.

Yoselin arrives at a park,

where she will camp for the night.

Today's trial of endurance is over.

But tomorrow, it all starts again.

The new Suspiria is delightfully bonkers, but also overstuffed and kinda silly: EW review - Duration: 3:42.

Italian horror maestro Dario Argento's hallucinogenic 1977 Day-Glo fantasia Suspiria was about a young American dancer attending a German ballet academy run by a coven of witches

Over time, the film has become iconic among genre cognoscenti less for its barely-there plot than its operatic gore, color-saturated eye-candy palette, and moody score by the band Goblin

Argento's Suspiria was the epitome of style over substance…but what style! Now Luca Guadagnino, the sensualist behind Call Me by Your Name, has remade it

Well, not so much remade it as reimagined it as an overly busy occult thriller that trowels on unnecessary subplots and characters

It's likely to be enjoyed more by audiences unfamiliar with the original.   Guadagnino and writer David Kajganich have broadened the story, set in 1977 Berlin, to include the outside world through allusions to terror attacks by the radical Red Army Faction and an elderly psychiatrist character (whose alter ego became a cheeky parlor game for a while)

Still, the basic tale is the same: An ingenue dancer stumbles into a freaky hothouse of deceit, dark secrets, and sorcery

It helps that the dancer is played by Dakota Johnson, an actress whose résumé to date hasn't matched her talent

Johnson's Susie is a naive but ambitious runaway from a strict Mennonite family. Guadagnino regular Tilda Swinton (all severe Martha Graham gestures and icy hauteur) is Madame Blanc — the stern head instructor who comes with her own air of mystery cloaked in cigarette smoke

She's also a witch.   There's a smattering of incredibly effective sequences in the film, including one showstopper in which Susie auditions for the lead part in a piece while, in a nearby studio, one of her fellow dancers is violently whipped around like a rag doll, her joints contorting like a possessed Swiss Army knife

In moments like that one, the film jolts to life, rivaling Argento's baroque Grand Guignol style

The trouble is, the new Suspiria is…well, kind of silly and boring. Argento's ravishingly trippy colors have been leeched of their psychedelic pop and his sinister plot stripped of much of its perverse terror

Too much is spelled out. It's as if Guadagnino doesn't trust the audience to just go on his erotically phantasmagorical ride with him

In the end, sometimes the highest compliment you can pay an artist is to leave his art alone

Horror icon Jessica Harper talks about her role in the new Suspiria — and the lie she told to get it - Duration: 11:26.

Jessica Harper earned her place in the Horror Hall of Fame by starring as Suzy Bannion in director Dario Argento's 1977 giallo classic, Suspiria

Now, Harper has returned to the world of witches with a role in Luca Guadagnino's just-released remake of Argento's film, alongside Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton

But the actress had to tell a lie to secure the part.  "Well, I've been hearing for years that there was going to be a remake, and it was going to be directed by so-and-so, and it was going to star so-and-so," says Harper

"Mostly, I disregarded these rumors, because one came, and then the next one came, and nothing ever happened

"But then I heard a few years ago that Luca was involved, and I thought (a) it sounds right and (b) it sounds real

And so I kept my eye on it. David Kajganich, the writer of the script, tells this story that they thought it would be cool to have me do a cameo in this movie, since I'd been in the original

They were looking through the script for something for me to do, and they didn't want me to be just be one of the witches, they wanted something a little more special

So it occurred to them to ask me to do the part of Anke. But David said to Luca, 'Well, the only thing is, she does have to be able to speak German

' So Luca said, 'Hang on, let me find out if Jessica can speak German.'  "So, Luca called me, kind of out of the blue, and said, 'Hi, would you like to do a cameo in my new movie?' Of course, he had me at 'Hello

' And then he said, 'Now, do you think you could do the part in German? And I said, 'Oh, absolutely

' So, he hung up, and went to David and said, 'Good news, she speaks German!' And I got on the phone and called the Berlitz school and said, 'I need to learn German

Can I come over this afternoon, please?'"  ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Who is Anke? JESSICA HARPER: So, I play the love interest of this character Dr

Klemperer, who is played by this actor called Lutz Ebersdorf, who I just read in The New York Times, was actually played by Tilda Swinton

I think she's outed herself finally, although that was kept secret for a very long time

So, this character Dr. Klemperer, lost his wife many many years before, and spends much of his time longing for her, and hoping somehow their paths will cross again

He doesn't know what became of her, all those years before. So, I magically reappear, and then some other magic happens, which I don't want to spoil

But Lutz Ebersdorf and I get to play this sort of romantic story at the center of this movie, which is really fun

It's this lovely emotional thread that cuts through the center of the movie.  What was it like acting opposite Tilda Swinton, given that she was playing an elderly German man? Of course it was weird, because it was Tilda Swinton playing an elderly German man! But at the same time it was fantastic because her makeup was so incredible, I didn't really feel like I was acting with Tilda Swinton

And also, the way she adjusted her voice, it was very easy to pretend that I was having this love story with an 82-year-old guy

What was the shoot like? The shoot for me was pretty brief. I was only involved for a few days, because my part was a small part

The shoot for others was long and difficult because they were in an abandoned hotel on a hilltop in Italy

And I was there too and I know it was difficult. It was cold and dark and scary. It was like a haunted house, which was kind of appropriate, but not ideal shooting circumstances

But I had a wonderful time. Because I was the star of the original movie, when I walked on the set you would have thought I was David Bowie

[Laughs] I sort of had a celebrity moment, which was so sweet. 20th Century Fox  How did you get involved in the original Suspiria? Dario saw Phantom of the Paradise, the De Palma film

He saw that, and he thought, for whatever reason, that I had the right quality to play Susie in his film

We met in Los Angeles. I didn't audition for him, I think, we just met. and just had a sense of who each other was, and he took it from there and offered me the role

What do you remember about that shoot? Oh, that was fantastic. That was four months in Rome, basically, which was a great experience in and of itself

But also Dario was a very inspiring director, because he was so focused, and had such strong aesthetic ideas, and was very gentle as a director in terms of how he treated actors

It was kind of a life-changing experience, actually.  The original Suspiria is regarded as one of the classics of the horror genre

What is that like for you? Well, again, it feels like I'm on some miraculous ride

I mean, who ever knew that you'd shoot a horror movie in Italy and years later it would be much more popular that it was when it came out? As you know, it has such a huge following, and I get lots of mail from Suspiria fans, on social media and so forth

People love this movie. I'm very proud to be a part of it.  Am I right in thinking that you had basically retired prior to appearing in the new Suspiria? I'd not exactly retired

I just was doing a lot of other things. So, during the time I was raising my girls, who are now in their twenties, I was more at home, but I wrote a dozen children's books, and I wrote a memoir cookbook, and in the past couple of years I've been working on this podcast-memoir, which is about to be launched

What is the podcast about? It's called Winnetka, which is the name of my hometown

It's a memoir of my childhood. I've been working on it for about three years. I grew up in the '50s, and Eisenhower's post-war America, and our childhood was, as many were, greatly informed by our father's PTSD

He came out of the war, never had a chance to process it, was kind of thrust into suburbia, and expected to ride the economic boom, and march off in his fedora every morning

He was a very angry person, so that impacted our childhood — there were six of us kids, two sets of twins, and two others

And then we go into the '60s, and of course rebellion is trending, and we all went with that trend

By the end of the decade, three of us dropped out of college, two were expelled from school, and my father had sort of a breakdown

Our family kind of unwound at the end of the decade. But it was only thirty years later, after our father's funeral, that our story was kind of complete, because we discovered a secret in our family history, something we'd never known, that was very startling, about our roots

So, that's a thumbnail of what it is, and I'm really excited about it. November 5, we're going to start the trailer, and seeding some bonus material, until its official launch on Feb

4.  How is your German now? I can say, "Gesundheit," and I can recite the dialog from Suspiria, and that's all you're gonna get!  Watch the trailer for the new Suspiria, above
