MAN WAS BORN YET EVERYWHERE HE IS IN CHAINS - Duration: 12:44.

MAN WAS BORN YET EVERYWHERE HE IS IN CHAINS.

JEAN-JACQUES ROUSSEAU.

Man in a "state of nature" is fundamentally good.

When the idea of private property developed, society had to develop a system to protect it.

This system evolved as laws imposed by those with property onto those without property.

These laws bind people in unjust ways.

Man is born free, yet everywhere he is in chains.

Rousseau was very much a product of the mid- to late-18th-century period known as the Enlightenment,

and an embodiment of the continental European philosophy of the time.

As a young man he tried to make his name as both a musician and composer, but in 1740 he met Denis Diderot and Jean d'Alembert,

the philosopher compilers of the new Encyclopedie, and became interested in philosophy.

The political mood in France at this time was uneasy.

Enlightenment thinkers in France and England had begun to question the status quo, undermining the authority of both the Church and the aristocracy,

and advocates of social reform such as Voltaire continually fell foul of the overbearing censorship of the establishment.

Unsurprisingly in this context, Rousseau's main area of interest became political philosophy.

His thinking was influenced not only by his French contemporaries, but also by the work of English philosophers—and in particular the idea of a

social contract as proposed by Thomas Hobbes and refined by John Locke.

Like them, Rousseau compared an idea of humanity in a hypothetical "natural state" with how people actually live in a civil society.

But he took such a radically different view of this natural state and the way it is affected by society,

that it could be considered a form of "counterEnlightenment" thinking.

It held within it the seeds of the next great movement, Romanticism.

Science and art corrupt.

Hobbes had envisaged life in the natural state as "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.'' In his view humanity is instinctively selfinterested

and self-serving, and that civilization is necessary to place restrictions on these instincts.

Rousseau, however, looks more kindly on human nature, and sees civil society as a much less benevolent force.

The idea that society might be a harmful influence first occurred to Rousseau when he wrote an essay for a competition organized by the Academy of

Dijon, answering the question: "Has the restoration of the sciences and the arts contributed to refining moral practices?"

The expected answer from thinkers of the time, and especially from a musician such as Rousseau, was an enthusiastic affirmative,

but in fact Rousseau argued the opposite case.

His Discourse on the Sciences and Arts, which won him first prize,

controversially puts forward the idea that the arts and sciences corrupt and erode morals.

He argues that far from improving minds and lives, the arts and sciences decrease human virtue and happiness.

The inequality of laws.

Having broken with established thinking in his prize-winning and publicly acclaimed essay, Rousseau took the idea a stage further in a second essay,

the Discourse on the Origin and Foundations of Inequality among Men.

The subject matter chimed with the mood of the time, echoing the calls for social reform from writers such as Voltaire,

but once again Rousseau contradicted conventional thinking with his analysis.

The selfish, savage, and unjust state of nature depicted by Hobbes is, for Rousseau, a description not of "natural man", but of "civilized man".

In fact he claims that it is civil society that induces this savage state.

Humanity's natural state, he argues, is innocent, happy, and independent: man is born free.

Society corrupts.

The state of nature that Rousseau describes is a pastoral idyll, where people in their natural state are fundamentally good.

(The English wrongly interpreted Rousseau's idea of natural man as a "noble savage", but this was due to a mistranslation of the French sauvage,

which means simply "natural", not brutish.) People are endowed with innate virtue and, more importantly, the attributes of compassion and empathy.

But once this state of innocence is disrupted, and the power of reason begins to separate humankind from the rest of nature,

people become detached from their natural virtues.

The imposition of civil society on the state of nature therefore entails a move away from virtue toward vice,

and from idyllic happiness toward misery.

Rousseau sees the fall from a state of nature and the establishment of civil society as regrettable but inevitable,

because it resulted from the human capacity for reason.

The process began, he thought, the first time that a man enclosed a piece of land for himself, so introducing the notion of property.

As groups of people began to live side by side like this, they formed societies, which could only be maintained though a system of laws.

But Rousseau claims that every society loses touch with humanity's natural virtues, including empathy, and so imposes laws that are not just,

but selfish.

They are designed to protect property, and they are inflicted on the poor by the rich.

The move from a natural to a civilized state therefore brought about a move not only from virtue to vice, Rousseau points out,

but also from innocence and freedom to injustice and enslavement.

Although humanity is naturally virtuous, it is corrupted by society; and although man is born free,

the laws imposed by society condemn him to a life "in chains."

The Social Contract.

Rousseau's second Discourse ruffled even more feathers than his first, but it gained him a reputation and quite a following.

His portrayal of the state of nature as desirable and not brutal formed a vital part of the emerging Romantic movement in literature.

Rousseau's rallying cry of "back to nature!" and his pessimistic analysis of modern society as full of inequalities and injustices sat well with the

growing social unrest of the 1750s, especially in France.

Not content with merely stating the problem, Rousseau went on to offer a solution, in what is seen as perhaps his most influential work,

The Social Contract.

Rousseau opens his book with the challenging declaration "Man is born free, yet everywhere he is in chains",

which was considered such a call for radical change that it was adopted as a slogan during the French Revolution 27 years later.

Having issued his challenge, Rousseau then sets out his vision of an alternative civil society, run not by aristocrats, the monarchy, and the Church,

but by all citizens, who participate in the business of legislation.

Modelled on Classical republican ideas of democracy, Rousseau imagines the citizen body operating as a unit,

prescribing laws according to the volonte generale, or general will.

The laws would arise from all and apply to all—everyone would be considered equal.

In contrast with the social contract envisaged by Locke, which was designed to

protect the rights and property of individuals, Rousseau advocates giving legislative power to the people as a whole, for the benefit of all,

administered by the general will.

He believes that the freedom to take part in the legislative process would lead to an elimination of inequality and injustice,

and that it would promote a feeling of belonging to society—that it would inevitably lead to the liberte, egalite, fraternite (liberty, equality,

fraternity) that became the motto of the new French Republic.

The evils of education.

In another book written in the same year, entitled Emile, or On Education, Rousseau expanded on his theme,

explaining that education was responsible for corrupting the state of nature and perpetuating the evils of modern society.

In other books and essays he concentrated on the adverse effects of both conventional religion and atheism.

At the center of all his works lay the idea that reason threatens human innocence and, in turn, freedom and happiness.

Instead of the education of the intellect, he proposes an education of the senses, and he suggests that our religious faith should be guided by the

heart, not the head.

Political influence.

Most of Rousseau's writings were immediately banned in France, gaining him both notoriety and a large following.

By the time of his death in 1778, revolution in France and elsewhere was imminent, and his idea of a social contract in which the general will of the

citizen body controlled the legislative process offered the revolutionaries a viable alternative to the corrupt system as it stood.

But his philosophy was at odds with contemporary thinking, and his insistence that a state of nature was superior to civilization led him to fall out

with fellow reformers such as Voltaire and Hume.

Rousseau's political influence was felt most strongly during the period of revolution immediately after his death, but his influence on philosophy,

and political philosophy in particular, emerged to a greater extent in the 19th century.

Georg Hegel integrated Rousseau's ideas of social contract into his own philosophical system.

Later and more importantly, Karl Marx was particularly struck by some of Rousseau's work on inequality and injustice.

Unlike Robespierre, one of the leaders of the French Revolution, who had appropriated Rousseau's philosophy for his own ends during the Reign of

Terror, Marx fully understood and developed Rousseau's analysis of capitalist society and the revolutionary means of replacing it.

Marx's Communist Manifesto ends with a nod to Rousseau, encouraging the proletarians (workers) have "nothing to lose but their chains''.

■ Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was born to a Calvinist family in Geneva.

His mother died only a few days after his birth, and his father fled home following a duel a few years later, leaving him in the care of an uncle.

Aged 16, he left for France and converted to Catholicism.

While trying to make his name as a composer, he worked as a civil servant and was posted to Venice for two years,

but on his return he began to write philosophy.

His controversial views led to his books being banned in Switzerland and France, and warrants being issued for his arrest.

He was forced to accept David Hume's invitation to live in England for a short time, but after they quarrelled he returned to France under a false

name.

He was later allowed to return to Paris, where he lived until his death at the age of 66.

Key works:

1750 Discourse on the Sciences and Arts,

1755 Discourse on the Origin and Foundations of Inequality among Men,

1755 Discourse on Political Economy,

1762 The Social Contract.

IN CONTEXT.

BRANCH: Political philosophy.

APPROACH: Social contract theory.

BEFORE:

1651 Thomas Hobbes puts forward the idea of a social contract in his book Leviathan.

1689 John Locke's Two Treatises of Government asserts a human's natural right to defend "life, health, liberty, or possessions."

AFTER:

1791 Thomas Paine's Rights of Man argues that government's only purpose is to safeguard the rights of the individual.

1848 Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels publish The Communist Manifesto.

1971 John Rawls develops the idea of "Justice as Fairness" in his book A Theory of Justice.

Tranquility is found also in dungeons; but is that enough to make them desirable places to live in?

Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

The general will should come from all to apply to all.

Why Everyone Was Watching Tabby's Star Last Weekend - Duration: 5:02.

Hold on to your telescopes, because Tabby's star just dimmed again!

Two years ago, astronomers spotted a star almost 1300 light years away

called KIC 8462852, nicknamed Tabby's star

after the lead researcher, Tabetha Boyaijan.

And it's been baffling them with its weird drops in brightness ever since.

We see stars dim like this all the time when a planet passes in between them

and the Earth, which is actually how we find lots of exoplanets.

But Tabby's star randomly becomes up to 20 percent dimmer,

which is way too extreme and unpredictable to be caused by a planet orbiting it.

And it seems to be getting dimmer over time.

It seems like there has to be something orbiting the star,

but we still don't have a great explanation for these mysterious data.

So astronomers have been waiting to observe more dips in brightness

to help develop their hypotheses.

And last weekend, it finally happened again!

Multiple astronomers reported that Tabby's star was dimming,

which sent researchers around the world running for their telescopes.

This was the first time we were able to see the star dim right from the beginning

in real time, and gather data with lots of different kinds of telescopes.

So it's also our best chance yet to try and analyze what kind of material

might be passing in front of it.

As of Wednesday when we filmed this,

there haven't been any major announcements.

But there are a lot of hypotheses from older data

that could be supported or disproved.

Like, you might remember the paper that suggested this weirdness

could be caused by huge alien megastructures,

but there are plenty of natural explanations too,

like a bunch of crumbling comets.

One idea published last month in the

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society

suggests that Tabby's star might be digesting a planet!

The researchers proposed that, anywhere from a few hundred to thousands

of years ago, a planet collided with the star, and released a burst of energy.

That could've caused the star to get brighter for a while,

so all the progressive dimming is actually just the star returning to normal,

and the random dips are from leftover debris.

Another hypothesis, published last December in the Physical Review Letters,

suggests that an unknown process inside the star

is causing its magnetic poles to randomly flip back and forth,

which makes its light fluctuate.

Most of these explanations sound reasonable,

but we need more data to really solve the mystery of Tabby's star.

The answer could even be something we don't have evidence for yet!

But it's still probably not aliens.

Sorry!

Now, Tabby's star might be pretty weird,

but the universe also has its fair share of strange planets.

There are exoplanets where it rains glass, worlds with hot ice,

and now there's KELT-11b, a recently-discovered gas giant

that's about as dense as styrofoam.

The exoplanet was discovered by an international team of astronomers

and citizen scientists as part of the KELT,

or Kilodegree Extremely Little Telescope, survey,

and their findings were recently published in The Astrophysical Journal.

Even though their two robotic telescopes might be little,

KELT-11b isn't exactly the smallest gas giant on the block.

The planet, which is about 320 light years away, is almost 40 percent larger

than Jupiter, but it still only has one-fifth of Jupiter's mass.

This means the planet is extra puffy and inflated, like styrofoam,

and it's actually the third-lowest density planet we've accurately measured.

That big ball of gas could even sound cute, except for the fact

that it's more than 1400 degrees Celsius on the surface… so, there's that.

We're not sure exactly what caused the planet to have such a low density,

and we're hoping to figure that out!

But what's especially helpful about 11b is its unusually large atmosphere,

extending almost 2800 kilometers into space.

It gets a ton of light from its star, which means it's a perfect candidate

for testing our atmosphere-analyzing skills.

To figure out which elements are floating around in a planet's atmosphere,

astronomers use a process called spectroscopy.

Planets reflect and absorb different amounts of different wavelengths of light

depending on what they're made of and what's in their atmosphere,

and we can measure that light to determine their compositions.

In the future, we're hoping to use technology like the

James Webb Space Telescope to identify elements in the atmospheres

around Earth-like planets using spectroscopy.

But since we're not quite there yet, we can get some practice on gas giants

like KELT-11b with bright stars nearby, which will help us figure out

what we'll need to make better atmosphere-observing instruments in the future.

So flickering stars and styrofoam-density planets are fun for us to talk about,

but they're also really useful for researchers!

It's basically a win-win for everyone.

Why Was the WannaCry Attack Such a Big Deal? - Duration: 5:40.

It was all over the news on Friday, May 12th:

Hospitals in the UK couldn't get access to their systems and were turning patients

away.

Car factories in France had to shut down.

A Spanish telecommunications company told their employees to shut down their computers.

Computers all over the world were being infected by WannaCry, a massive hacking attack that

caused worldwide computer chaos.

By May 14th, more than 200,000 computers in more than 150 countries had been affected.

And yet, the attack didn't seem to cause much long-term damage.

The hackers only made about $100,000 in total.

We just witnessed one of the largest and strangest computer attacks ever.

WannaCry is an example of a type of attack called ransomware, where the data on an infected

computer is encrypted or scrambled.

In return for restoring access to your files, the hackers demand a ransom payment — in

this case, either $300- or $600-worth of the digital currency bitcoin.

There are lots of kinds of ransomware out there, but WannaCry spread very quickly using

a tool that security experts believe was created by the NSA.

To be clear, the NSA wasn't interested in ransom, just in snooping, but they created

a tool that took advantage of a security weakness in Microsoft software.

This tool, dubbed EternalBlue, exploits a vulnerability in something called the Server

Message Block, or SMB protocol.

The SMB protocol is basically a system for sharing file access across a network.

It's used by lots of people all the time, and the reason why you might never have heard

of it is that normally, it's totally safe.

Well, the NSA discovered that in some versions of Windows, the SMB protocol can be tricked

into accepting packets of data from remote attackers.

EternalBlue was designed to use that flaw as a way in.

That's pretty freaky to think about, but no one outside of the NSA would have known

about it — and WannaCry might never have happened — if it weren't for a leak earlier

this year.

In April, the Shadow Brokers, a group of hackers that's thought to be tied to Russia, stole

EternalBlue from the NSA and published the exploit online.

Microsoft quickly released a patch for the issue for the operating systems they still

officially support, like Windows 7 and Windows 10.

In theory, that should have headed off any potential problems.

With the patch, EternalBlue would be useless.

But, not everyone actually installs patches and updates their systems regularly.

I mean, at some point we've all clicked the button saying "tomorrow!

Remind me tomorrow!".

It's annoying.

And more than 5% of Windows computers are still running XP, even though Microsoft stopped

releasing security updates for it three years ago.

So, people and organizations worldwide were left with a gaping hole in their cybersecurity,

which WannaCry took advantage of.

The UK's National Health Service hospital system was especially vulnerable because as

recently as last year, computers in 90% of NHS hospitals were still running XP.

It's easy to blame the hospitals for using a 16-year-old operating system.

Like, it doesn't seem that hard to upgrade.

But it's not that simple.

From MRIs to microscopes, practically everything in hospitals uses computer programs, and it's

often hard to get them to work properly with newer operating systems.

So upgrading everything would have been a major IT investment.

The hospitals' data was all backed up, though, so within a day of the attack, pretty much

everything was up and running again, no ransom payments needed.

But just like not everyone downloads and installs those annoying software updates promptly,

not everyone is as vigilant about backing up as they should be.

So even though most big organizations were fine, lots of individual people were losing

access to their data.

That is, until someone discovered that WannaCry had a major flaw: a kill switch that an anonymous

cyber security expert in England discovered almost by accident.

The hero, who goes by the name MalwareTech, was looking through the WannaCry code as it

spread on Friday and found that it was built to check whether or not a specific gibberish

URL led to a live website.

So he registered the domain name to see what would happen.

And it turned out to be a kill switch built in by the ransomware's creators.

Registering the URL was a signal that stopped the malware from spreading.

New variants of the malware have popped up and continued to spread, but they've mostly

included their own kill switch domain names, leading to a game of cyber security whack-a-mole.

It's not clear why the hackers behind the attack included this in the code, but we're

lucky they did.

And that's the thing: the part of the ransomware's code that's based on EternalBlue is really

sophisticated.

But according to security experts, having a kill switch was an amateur mistake.

So was the way the hackers set up their ransom payment system.

They didn't code it in a way that let them keep track of who actually paid the ransom,

and it's set up so they would have to decrypt each victim's files manually.

Which might explain why almost no one seems to have gotten their files decrypted.

But a more sophisticated attack could have done a lot more damage.

At this point, there's no reason anyone else should be affected by WannaCry or its

copycats: Microsoft released special one-time patches for old operating systems that are

vulnerable, including Windows XP, so no matter what you're running, you're safe if you

update.

And if you were infected by WannaCry, security researchers have released tools that can decrypt

your files as long as you haven't rebooted your computer.

We still don't know for certain who was behind this, and we may never find out.

This won't be the last time a malware attack sweeps the planet, though.

Hackers are always finding new vulnerabilities, and there are always going to be people who

don't update right away.

So, WannaCry's lesson is clear: install those updates, and back up your stuff.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow News.

any time soon, but if you want to learn more about some really bad ones, check out our

Democrats adore putting Obama on some sort of pseudo-religious platform like he never

NOT ANYMORE.

Today Obama's ex-CIA director turned out and told the world what the media and Dems

won't.

According to Liberty Writer News – Michael Morrel, who filled in as CIA Director until

2013, went on "CBS This Morning" to talk about John Brennan's declaration to Congress.

That is the point at which he said this:

Obama did NOTHING at all to stop Russian interference in the election.

Morell told his supervisor,

"What struck me … is that the U.S. government was concerned enough last summer about Russian

interference in the election that they had the CIA director make contact with his Russian

counterpart and tell them to stop."

"So my question is what did the Obama administration do after that after they learned that the

warning had fallen on deaf ears."

Extraordinary question.

What the heck did Obama do to stop this affirmed uncommon election interference?

"It appears they did nothing," Morell said.

For the first time ever I concur with an Obama official.

Morell is correct.

Obama did nothing about Russia.

Presently, we have to know why?

Did Obama subtly need Hillary to lose?

Is it safe to say that he feared Putin?

Or, then again was there Obama associated with Russia in a significantly more evil way?

Just Obama and his internal circle know reality, and they may never uncover it.

H/T Liberty Writers News Gowdy Just Forced Former CIA Head Brennan To Make Major Confession

About The Russia Witch Hunt, You'll Be Shocked

Democrats and their "Never Trump" partners among establishment Republicans have been

running a full-time spread campaign against our democratically elected President Donald

Trump, and it has been picking up steam with the scene of show hearings about the alleged

Russia scandal.

People with great influence who need to see President Trump expelled from the White House

as of late brought our previous President Barack Obama's CIA Director John Brennan

trying to some way or another demonstrate that Trump's campaign plotted with the Russians.

Luckily, Congressman Trey Gowdy was available to address Brennan, and he inspired him to

make a startling admission about the entire investigation.

In the hearing before the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Gowdy inquired as to whether

he had seen any proof of coordination, trick or plot amongst Russia and competitor Donald

Trump.

Brennan said that he would not state on the off chance that he saw or did not perceive

any immediate connections amongst Russia and Donald Trump.

Remarked Gowdy, "That does not help us a whole lot."

Brennan added, "I was aware of intelligence and information about contacts between Russian

officials and U.S. persons that raised concerns in my mind about whether or not those individuals

were cooperating with the Russians.

… That served as the basis for the FBI investigation to determine whether such collusion, cooperation

occurred.

"

Gowdy was not impressed.

He said, "Well, there are a bunch of words that start with 'C' floating around."

He added, "I asked you about collusion, coordination and conspiracy, and you used

the word 'contact.'

Contact could be benign or not benign.

So was it contact you saw … what was the nature of what you saw?

"Answered Brennan," I saw interaction.

But I do not know.

I do not have sufficient information to make a determination whether or not there was cooperation

or complicity or collusion.

H/T Conservative 101 New Collusion Trail Has Been Uncovered, You Won't Believe Where

It Led – It's Not To President Trump

Democrats complained until they got their Special Counsel named to additionally investigate

whether there was an agreement between the Trump election campaign and the Russians to

impact the 2016 presidential election to support Trump.

Let us not overlook that few different investigations effectively closed there was no proof to support

it.

Obviously, the counter Trump Democrats will kill chase until they figure out how to dig

up something implicating, regardless of the possibility that they need to develop the

story around it.

Presently, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has said something advising Congress to relinquish

their own particular examinations and take after the "collusion" trail driving back

to Hillary Clinton's messages.

Sen. Graham expressed in a Fox News meet that he accepted there were "emails between Clinton

campaign officials, democratic operatives to the Department of Justice regarding the

Clinton email investigation" traded under Obama's oversight.

Gateway Pundit reported:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News on Thursday that Congress should abandon their

own investigations and go back to focusing on Hillary Clinton's emails.

Senator Graham also said he has reason to believe that there are emails between Clinton

campaign officials, democratic operatives to the Department of Justice regarding the

Clinton email investigation.

Lindsey Graham: "I do not know what caused the appointment.

I have not seen any evidence of a crime yet.

The bottom line is I respect the decision, but this pretty much shuts Congress down.

Democrats, you got what you wanted.

You got a special counsel.

Now we'll just move on.

We're not prosecutors.

"

"There's a new front opening here.

I have reason to believe that there are emails between Clinton campaign officials, democratic

operatives to the Department of Justice regarding the Clinton email investigation that happened

on Obama's watch.

I have reason to believe those emails exist.

I'm on the Judiciary Committee.

And I think it's important that the Judiciary Committee be given any emails that were directed

to the Department of Justice by Clinton campaign officials or operatives because we have jurisdiction

over the Department of Justice.

"

The entire "nothingburger" being raised about Trump by the Democrats is looking more

like a smokescreen to get the consideration off Hillary and her violations.

Representative Graham is completely right.

There is significantly more confirmation of criminal activities by Hillary Clinton, the

Democrats, and the Obama Department of Justice than any arrangement amongst Trump and Russia.

H/T The Gateway Pundit Caught!

Top Democrat Just Caught On Camera Threatening DC Police Chief, This Is Insane

Today Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the previous DNC chair who fixed the 2016 primaries for

Hillary Clinton, guaranteed to manhandle her energy for individual vengeance on a top cop.

According to Liberty Writers News – She said there will be "Consequences" on the

Affirm, so a little background data for you.

The DC police are investigating one of Schultz's assistants, a Pakistani named Imran Awan,

who is thought to have been included in a MASSIVE security break of Congressional information.

He additionally billed the administration $4million for relatives on the finance that

never really worked.

At the point when the circumstance turned out to be clear, the police appropriated a

That laptop TECHNICALLY has a place with Schultz's campaign.

Likewise peculiar was that Politico depicted the connection amongst Schultz and Awan as

a "friendly personal relationship.

Why are a Senator companions with an irregular IT fellow and why is she shielding him now

at hazard to her own particular profession?

To truly pull it all together, you have to realize that Schultz sits on the Appropriations'

Legislative Branch subcommittee which decides the financial plan for the DC police, henceforth

her risk of "consequences."

That is a mishandle of energy with ZERO question.

What harry girlfriend Meghan Markle potential royal title could be and was Diana really princess - Duration: 3:27.

What prince harry girlfriend Meghan Markle's potential royal title could be and was Diana

really a 'princess'?

Meghan Markle's relationship with Prince Harry is sailing towards a spring engagement, with

the Suits actress having spent a number of weeks at the royal's residence in Kensington

Palace and allegedly accompanying him to Pippa Middleton's wedding in May.

As things continue to heat up between the 35-year-old US actress and the 32-year-old

British royal, speculation is brewing over what Markle's title would be if she were to

marry Harry.

It is known that the Toronto-based actress has already met Harry's father Prince Charles

and brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

She has even spent time with William and Kate's two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte,

and is said to have been "taken" with them.

It is not known if Markle has met the Queen, but if and when she does, it will mean serious

business for the couple.

If Harry introduces a partner to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, it is expected that the

relationship would result in marriage.

Her Majesty will have to sign off on the union or the prince could lose his place in the

line of succession; currently, he is fifth in line to the throne.

This is due to the 2015 Succession to the Crown Act which places limits on a rule from

the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, proving the ruling monarch with the right to approve marriages

of all distant royal relations.

Only the first six in line to the throne require the Queen's consent to marry, so Harry better

stay on his grandmother's good side if he wants to get hitched any time soon.

As wives in the United Kingdom automatically take their husband's title, Markle would be

HRH Princess Henry of Wales.

Like Kate Middleton who is a duchess Markle would not be Princess Meghan.

The title "princess" is given to females born of the monarch, or of one of the monarch's

direct male issues, like Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Princess Diana was never in fact "Princess Diana".

She was Diana, Princess of Wales by marriage after marrying the heir to the throne, Prince

Charles of Wales.

Speaking to IBTimes UK on what Markle's potential royal title could be, royal expert Richard

FitzWilliams suggested that it could be the Duchess of Sussex.

He said: "The Queen is the font of honour.

This would be a matter for her it is too early to speculate.

"If Prince Harry is created a Duke, there has to be a vacancy so it might be Sussex.

Prince Harry's wife would be a princess by marriage," he added.

On the same subject royal historian Marlene Koenig told Marie Claire: "Most likely, he

[Harry] will be created a Duke.

Sussex is available so [Markle] would be HRH the Duchess of Sussex.

Her rank would be a princess by marriage of the United Kingdom, Great Britain, and Northern

Ireland."thanks for watching.
