Hi. In this Excel tutorial, we'll go over what an array formula is in Excel, how to use one and end with some tips to keep in mind when

using array formulas. First, in Excel an array refers to a group of values – they could be in a row, column or both. An array formula is a

formula that will perform calculations on the array. This probably sounds weird given that the purpose of all formulas is to calculate

something, so, let's take a quick look. On my screen is some sales data by month. So, let's say I want to figure out the total dollars sold in

that month. I could multiply the data in each row separately or I could use an array formula.

To do this, we first need to highlight all the cells where we want the array formula to be in, then type the equal sign,

and highlight the first column that we want to multiply -

and I'm using columns here, but you can just as easily do this for rows – then, we'll do an * to multiply, and highlight the next column we

want to multiply by, and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. And, FYI, to create an array formula,

you have to press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. Otherwise, you'll just create a regular formula.

You'll know you created an array formula when you see these curly brackets.

And notice how our data is multiplied for each month. And then, to cross check it, you can just multiply your quantity sold by your average

dollar sold. And notice that's exactly what the array formula did, except with less strokes. Let's delete this.

Ok, so, why is this helpful to use when, really, we could have just multiplied and copied the formulas down? Well, for starters, you're using

only one formula instead of 12. So, each time you add a formula to your spreadsheet it uses up just a little bit more memory. And if

you're working with a large data set this can affect how much time your spreadsheet will need to recalculate and refresh.

And, because you are typing just one formula, this can save you time as you're working. And, by the way, if you find this tutorial helpful

please make sure to click Like and subscribe to the channel so you catch new tutorials right as they come out.

We can also use other functions in array formulas. So, we just input an array formula across multiple cells to get the total sold

by month, but what if we need to figure out the total for the year?

This involves multiplying each row and then summing the totals...OR we can combine these calculations by using an array formula.

...let's come down here... And, to do that, we'll type =SUM( and we'll select all the quantity sold,

multiply

by all the average dollars per sale,

and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter again.

And this gives us our total dollars sold for the year. ...just format all these...

So, what's important to keep in mind when working with array formulas? Well, first Ctrl+Shift+Enter is important. If you don't

press it to exit your formula, you will not have an array formula. 2. If you step into your formula, like when using F2, and don't press

Ctrl+Shift+Enter to exit, you will erase the array formula.

In the case that your calculation is in a single cell, like in our total here, and you accidentally exit without pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter, all you

need to do is just step back into the formula and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to exit and this will fix it.

3. When you're applying an array formula across multiple cells, like we did here to figure out the dollars by month, you can't edit just one

cell. Notice an error if I try to step into a cell and make an edit.

Now, what you can do is edit the range, ...let's get out of this... making sure to press Ctrl+Shift+Enter

when you're done.

And notice that this changed the range for all of them, giving us an error down here because this is now outside of the range.

Let's undo this. 4. To delete an array formula in multiple cells, you'll need to select all of the cells that contain that array formula and

click Delete. And let's undo this. 5. In case you're curious, no, you can't just use the keyboard to type curly brackets,

you have to press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. And, lastly, consider your audience. If you'll be sharing your spreadsheet with others who may want to

make edits to it, consider whether or not they're familiar with and know how to use array formulas -

and you can always just send them a link to this tutorial - but if they do not know what they are, they may accidentally break the formula,

affecting results displayed for the data. If you enjoyed this tutorial on how to use array formulas in Microsoft Excel, please make sure

Dalai Lama: What is the purpose of life? - Duration: 23:25.

One great question underlies our experience, whether we think about it consciously or not:

What is the purpose of life?

I have considered this question and would like to share my thoughts in the hope that

they may be of direct, practical benefit to those who read them.

I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy.

From the moment of birth, every human being wants happiness and does not want suffering.

Neither social conditioning nor education nor ideology affect this.

From the very core of our being, we simply desire contentment.

I don't know whether the universe, with its countless galaxies, stars and planets,

has a deeper meaning or not, but at the very least, it is clear that we humans who live

on this Earth face the task of making a happy life for ourselves.

Therefore, it is important to discover what will bring about the greatest degree of happiness.

How to Achieve Happiness For a start, it is possible to divide every

kind of happiness and suffering into two main categories: mental and physical.

Of the two, it is the mind that exerts the greatest influence on most of us.

Unless we are either gravely ill or deprived of basic necessities, our physical condition

plays a secondary role in life.

If the body is content, we virtually ignore it.

The mind, however, registers every event, no matter how small.

Hence we should devote our most serious efforts to bringing about mental peace.

From my own limited experience, I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility

comes from the development of love and compassion.

The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well-being becomes.

Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at

ease.

This helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope

with any obstacles we encounter.

It is the ultimate source of success in life.

As long as we live in this world we are bound to encounter problems.

If at such times, we lose hope and become discouraged, we diminish our ability to face

difficulties.

If, on the other hand, we remember that it is not just ourselves but everyone who has

to undergo suffering, this more realistic perspective will increase our determination

and capacity to overcome troubles.

Indeed, with this attitude, each new obstacle can be seen as yet another valuable opportunity

to improve our mind!

Thus we can strive gradually to become more compassionate, that is we can develop both

genuine sympathy for others' suffering and the will to help remove their pain.

As a result, our own serenity and inner strength will increase.

Our Need for Love Ultimately, the reason why love and compassion

bring the greatest happiness is simply that our nature cherishes them above all else.

The need for love lies at the very foundation of human existence.

It results from the profound interdependence we all share with one another.

However capable and skillful an individual may be, left alone, he or she will not survive.

However vigorous and independent one may feel during the most prosperous periods of life,

when one is sick or very young or very old, one must depend on the support of others.

Inter-dependence, of course, is a fundamental law of nature.

Not only higher forms of life but also many of the smallest insects are social beings

who, without any religion, law or education, survive by mutual cooperation based on an

innate recognition of their interconnectedness.

The most subtle level of material phenomena is also governed by interdependence.

All phenomena from the planet we inhabit; from the oceans and clouds to the forests

and flowers that surround us, arise in dependence upon subtle patterns of energy.

Without their proper interaction, they dissolve and decay.

It is because our own human existence is so dependent on the help of others that our need

for love lies at the very foundation of our existence.

Therefore we need a genuine sense of responsibility and a sincere concern for the welfare of others.

We have to consider what we human beings really are.

We are not like machine-made objects.

If we are merely mechanical entities, then machines themselves could alleviate all of

our sufferings and fulfill our needs.

However, since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our

hopes for happiness on external development alone.

Instead, we should consider our origins and nature to discover what we require.

Leaving aside the complex question of the creation and evolution of our universe, we

can at least agree that each of us is the product of our own parents.

In general, our conception took place not just in the context of sexual desire but from

our parents' decision to have a child.

Such decisions are founded on responsibility and altruism–the parents' compassionate

commitment to care for their child until it is able to take care of itself.

Thus, from the very moment of our conception, our parents' love is directly in our creation.

Moreover, we are completely dependent upon our mothers' care from the earliest stages

of our growth.

According to some scientists, a pregnant woman's mental state, be it calm or agitated, has

a direct physical effect on her unborn child.

The expression of love is also very important at the time of birth.

Since the very first thing we do is suck milk from our mothers' breast, we naturally feel

close to her, and she must feel love for us in order to feed us properly; if she feels

anger or resentment her milk may not flow freely.

Then there is the critical period of brain development from the time of birth up to at

least the age of three or four, during which time loving physical contact is the single

most important factor for the normal growth of the child.

If the child is not held, hugged, cuddled, or loved, its development will be impaired

and its brain will not mature properly.

Since a child cannot survive without the care of others, love is its most important nourishment.

The happiness of childhood, the allaying of the child's many fears and the healthy development

of its self-confidence all depend directly upon love.

Nowadays, many children grow up in unhappy homes.

If they do not receive proper affection, in later life they will rarely love their parents

and, not infrequently, will find it hard to love others.

This is very sad.

As children grow older and enter school, their need for support must be met by their teachers.

If a teacher not only imparts academic education but also assumes responsibility for preparing

students for life, his or her pupils will feel trust and respect and what has been taught

will leave an indelible impression on their minds.

On the other hand, subjects taught by a teacher who does not show true concern for his or

her students' overall well-being will be regarded as temporary and not retained for

long.

Similarly, if one is sick and being treated in hospital by a doctor who evinces a warm

human feeling, one feels at ease and the doctor's desire to give the best possible care is itself

curative; irrespective of the degree of his or her technical skill.

On the other hand, if one's doctor lacks human feeling and displays an unfriendly expression,

impatience or casual disregard, one will feel anxious, even if he or she is the most highly

qualified doctor and the disease has been correctly diagnosed and the right medication

prescribed.

Inevitably, patients' feelings make a difference to the quality and completeness of their recovery.

Even when we engage in ordinary conversation in everyday life, if someone speaks with human

feeling, we enjoy listening and respond accordingly; the whole conversation becomes interesting,

however unimportant the topic may be.

On the other hand, if a person speaks coldly or harshly, we feel uneasy and wish for a

quick end to the interaction.

From the least to the most important event, the affection and respect of others are vital

for our happiness.

Recently I met a group of scientists in America who said that the rate of mental illness in

their country was quite high, at around twelve percent of the population.

It became clear during our discussion that the main cause of depression was not a lack

of material necessities but a deprivation of the affection of the others.

So, as you can see from everything I have written so far, one thing seems clear to me:

Whether or not we are consciously aware of it, from the day we are born, the need for

human affection is in our very blood.

Even if the affection comes from an animal or someone we would normally consider an enemy,

both children and adults will naturally gravitate towards it.

I believe that no one is born free from the need for love.

And this demonstrates that, although some modern schools of thought seek to do so, human

beings cannot be defined as solely physical.

No material object, however beautiful or valuable, can make us feel loved because our deeper

identity and true character lie in the subjective nature of the mind.

Developing Compassion Some of my friends have told me that, while

love and compassion are marvelous and good, they are not really very relevant.

Our world, they say, is not a place where such beliefs have much influence or power.

They claim that anger and hatred are so much a part of human nature that humanity will

always be dominated by them.

I do not agree.

We humans have existed in our present form for about a hundred-thousand years.

I believe that if during this time the human mind had been primarily controlled by anger

and hatred, our overall population would have decreased.

But today, despite all our wars, we find that the human population is greater than ever.

This clearly indicates to me that love and compassion predominate in the world.

And this is why unpleasant events are news, compassionate activities are so much part

of daily life that they are taken for granted and, therefore, largely ignored.

So far, I have been discussing mainly the mental benefits of compassion, but it contributes

to good physical health as well.

According to my personal experience, mental stability and physical well-being are directly

related.

Without question, anger and agitation make us more susceptible to illness.

On the other hand, if the mind is tranquil and occupied with positive thoughts, the body

will not easily fall prey to disease.

But of course, it is also true that we all have an innate self-centeredness that inhibits

our love for others.

So, since we desire the true happiness that is brought about by only a calm mind, and

since such peace of mind is brought about by only a compassionate attitude, how can

we develop this?

Obviously, it is not enough for us simply to think about how nice compassion is!

We need to make a concerted effort to develop it; we must use all the events of our daily

life to transform our thoughts and behavior.

First of all, we must be clear about what we mean by compassion.

Many forms of compassionate feeling are mixed with desire and attachment.

For instance, the love parents feel of their child is often strongly associated with their

own emotional needs, so it is not fully compassionate.

Again, in marriage, the love between husband and wife–particularly at the beginning,

when each partner still may not know the other's deeper character very well–depends more

on attachment than genuine love.

Our desire can be so strong that the person to whom we are attached appears to be good,

when in fact he or she is very negative.

In addition, we have a tendency to exaggerate small positive qualities, thus when one partner's

attitude changes, the other partner is often disappointed and his or her attitude changes

too.

This is an indication that love has been motivated more by personal need than by genuine care

for the other individual.

True compassion is not just an emotional response but a firm commitment founded on reason.

Therefore, a truly compassionate attitude towards others does not change even if they

behave negatively.

Of course, developing this kind of compassion is not at all easy!

As a start, let us consider the following facts:

Whether people are beautiful and friendly or unattractive and disruptive, ultimately

they are human beings, just like oneself.

Like oneself, they want happiness and do not want suffering.

Furthermore, their right to overcome suffering and be happy is equal to one's own.

Now, when you recognize that all beings are equal in both their desire for happiness and

their right to obtain it, you automatically feel empathy and closeness for them.

Through accustoming your mind to this sense of universal altruism, you develop a feeling

of responsibility for others: the wish to help them actively overcome their problems.

Nor is this wish selective; it applies equally to all.

As long as they are human beings experiencing pleasure and pain just as you do, there is

no logical basis to discriminate between them or to alter your concern for them if they

behave negatively.

Let me emphasize that it is within your power, given patience and time, to develop this kind

of compassion.

Of course, our self-centeredness, our distinctive attachment to the feeling of an independent,

self-existent human works fundamentally to inhibit our compassion.

Indeed, true compassion can be experienced only when this type of self-grasping is eliminated.

But this does not mean that we cannot start and make progress now.

How Can We Start We should begin by removing the greatest hindrances

to compassion: anger and hatred.

As we all know, these are extremely powerful emotions and they can overwhelm our entire

mind.

Nevertheless, they can be controlled.

If, however, they are not, these negative emotions will plague us–with no extra effort

on their part–and impede our quest for the happiness of a loving mind.

So as a start, it is useful to investigate whether or not anger is of value.

Sometimes, when we are discouraged by a difficult situation, anger does seem helpful, appearing

to bring with it more energy, confidence, and determination.

Here, though, we must examine our mental state carefully.

While it is true that anger brings extra energy, if we explore the nature of this energy, we

discover that it is blind: We cannot be sure whether its result will be positive or negative.

This is because anger eclipses the best part of our brain–its rationality.

So the energy of anger is almost always unreliable.

It can cause an immense amount of destructive, unfortunate behavior.

Moreover, if anger increases to the extreme, one becomes like a mad person, acting in ways

that are as damaging to oneself as they are to others.

It is possible, however, to develop an equally forceful but far more controlled energy with

which to handle difficult situations.

This controlled energy comes not only from a compassionate attitude but also from reason

and patience.

These are the most powerful antidotes to anger.

Unfortunately, many people misjudge these qualities as signs of weakness.

I believe the opposite to be true: That they are the true signs of inner strength.

Compassion is, by nature, gentle, peaceful and soft, but it is very powerful.

It is those who easily lose their patience who are insecure and unstable.

Thus, to me, the arousal of anger is a direct sign of weakness.

So, when a problem first arises, try to remain humble and maintain a sincere attitude and

be concerned that the outcome is fair.

Of course, others may try to take advantage of you and if your remaining detached only

encourages unjust aggression, adopt a strong stand, (this, however, should be done with

compassion, and if it is necessary to express your views and take strong countermeasures,

do so without anger or ill-intent).

You should realize that even though your opponents appear to be harming you, in the end, their

destructive activity will damage only themselves.

In order to check your own selfish impulse to retaliate, you should recall your desire

to practice compassion and assume responsibility for helping prevent the other person from

suffering the consequences of his or her acts.

Thus, because the measures you employ have been calmly chosen, they will be more effective,

more accurate and more forceful.

Retaliation based on the blind energy of anger seldom hits the target.

Friends and Enemies I must emphasize again that merely thinking

that compassion and reason and patience are good will not be enough to develop them.

We must wait for difficulties to arise and then attempt to practice them.

And who creates such opportunities?

Not our friends, of course, but our enemies.

They are the ones who give us the most trouble, So if we truly wish to learn, we should consider

enemies to be our best teachers!

For a person who cherishes compassion and love, the practice of tolerance is essential,

and for that, an enemy is indispensable.

So we should feel grateful to our enemies, for it is they who can best help us develop

a tranquil mind!

Also, it is often the case in both personal and public life, that with a change in circumstances,

enemies become friends.

So anger and hatred are always harmful, and unless we train our minds and work to reduce

their negative force, they will continue to disturb us and disrupt our attempts to develop

a calm mind.

Anger and hatred are our real enemies.

These are the forces we most need to confront and defeat, not the temporary enemies who

appear intermittently throughout life.

Of course, it is natural and right that we all want friends.

I often joke that if you really want to be selfish, you should be very altruistic!

You should take good care of others, be concerned for their welfare, help them, serve them,

make more friends, make more smiles; the result?

When you yourself need help, you find plenty of helpers!

If, on the other hand, you neglect the happiness of others, in the long term you will be the

loser.

And is friendship produced through quarrels and anger, jealousy and intense competitiveness?

I do not think so.

Only affection brings us genuinely close friends.

In today's materialistic society, if you have money and power, you seem to have many

friends.

But they are not friends of yours; they are the friends of your money and power.

When you lose your wealth and influence, you will find it very difficult to track these

people down.

The trouble is that when things in the world go well for us, we become confident that we

can manage by ourselves and feel we do not need friends, but as our status and health

decline, we quickly realize how wrong we were.

That is the moment when we learn who is really helpful and who is completely useless.

So to prepare for that moment, to make genuine friends who will help us when the need arises,

we ourselves must cultivate altruism!

Though sometimes people laugh when I say it, I myself always want more friends.

I love smiles.

Because of this, I have the problem of knowing how to make more friends and how to get more

smiles, in particular, genuine smiles.

For there are many kinds of smile, such as sarcastic, artificial or diplomatic smiles.

Many smiles produce no feeling of satisfaction, and sometimes they can even create suspicion

or fear, can't they?

But a genuine smile really gives us a feeling of freshness and is, I believe, unique to

human beings.

If these are the smiles we want, then we ourselves must create the reasons for them to appear.

Compassion and the World In conclusion, I would like briefly to expand

my thoughts beyond the topic of this short piece and make a wider point: Individual happiness

can contribute in a profound and effective way to the overall improvement of our entire

human community.

Because we all share an identical need for love, it is possible not to feel that anybody

we meet, in whatever circumstances, is a brother or sister.

No matter how new the face or how different the dress and behavior, there is no significant

division between us and other people.

It is foolish to dwell on external differences because our basic natures are the same.

Ultimately, humanity is one and this small planet is our only home.

If we are to protect this home of ours, each of us needs to experience a vivid sense of

universal altruism.

It is only this feeling that can remove the self-centered motives that cause people to

deceive and misuse one another.

If you have a sincere and open heart, you naturally feel self-worth and confidence,

and there is no need to be fearful of others.

I believe that at every level of society–familial, tribal, national and international–the key

to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion.

We do not need to become religious, nor do we need to believe in an ideology.

All that is necessary is for each of us to develop our good human qualities.

I try to treat whoever I meet as an old friend.

This gives me a genuine feeling of happiness.

It is the practice of compassion.

What will people experience when they see Clueless the Musical? - Duration: 3:10.

The musical does not let down. It gets all the gems, all the one-liners from the

movie, are put in there, you know, for the fans, but then, there's a couple twists

you wouldn't expect, a couple little new rewrites and interesting storyline

changes that'll keep people intrigued and entertained. I think that they're gonna

love it.

Well, it's cool to see, like, they're gonna be like, "what's a pager" and

like, "What's a flip phone, what is that?" so it's good to get, like, what we went

through growing up.

I think that everybody can kind of fall in love with

it in a new way. If you are a huge die-hard fan of the original, we have

all of the classics, we got your favorite lines, we have your favorite characters,

we're hitting the costumes, and then we're also putting our own twist on it.

Everyone's version of their character, no one's going for the original way that

it was presented. Everyone's able to put their own spin on it and I think that new

people that haven't seen this before are gonna have to go back and

see the original, and I think it'll be a nice melding of the two.

I definitely

think that it's funny and energetic and that people who have seen the movie will

definitely love it, and anybody who lived through the 90s is gonna like, lose their

minds because it is such a great reminiscing experience.

There's a

beautiful heart to this show that I think people are gonna really fall in

love with. There's a reason why this movie has lasted for so long, and the

musical absolutely carries on that tradition and brings it to a new

audience, a younger audience, fresh ears, fresh eyes and the music that we're

doing... I mean, I get to sing some of the greatest, like, 90s hits that I would sing

in the car when I was a kid, you know, driving down with my friends, and to get

to sing those on stage... it's a dream come true, it's amazing.

I think we do a

really good job of, like, satisfying both. Because you don't have to have seen the

movie, you don't have to come in with any point of context other than wanting to

have a good night of theater. And you will have a good night of theater but if

you want to see Clueless on stage too, you'll have that. We got both, you know?

I think that we have done, so far, a really good job putting what the

longtime fans of Clueless the movie, I feel like we've translated that really

well to the stage, so I think that they're gonna be really excited. I hadn't

even thought about the fact that this will be some people's first experience

with Clueless, and I think that, not only are they going to love this story, but

it's just gonna make them want to go home and watch the movie.

I think if you

love the movie, you'll, like, 100% be obsessed with the musical. Amy Heckerling

is involved in the process, so it is the movie, like, on stage, which I feel like is

fun, and it's a 90s throwback musical, which everybody can, like, love and enjoy,

It hints at the original, but it's also very new, and I think the 90s songs that

are in it will also, I feel like they're gonna blow their minds with like, you

know, when you hear that song you're like, "Oh, no way! That song is in the show?" and

I think that's gonna really win over the crowd.

If they've come to the show

already being a fan of Clueless, they're gonna get a next level of enjoyment and

understanding of this movie that I'm sure they've grown up knowing and loving.

First In Human EP1 (6/6) | What is a CAR T Cell? - Duration: 8:22.

So you are getting at just one arm?

Both of my arms.

Oh wow.

For most patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the kind of cancer Bo Cooper suffers

from, standard treatment can offer a cure.

But Bo is among a very small group whose leukemia has proven incurable.

Back in Canada, Bo received chemotherapy, standard initial treatment, for leukemia.

He then received a bone marrow transplant

and none of those treatments have been able

to keep the leukemia away.

Hey Doc.

How are you doing?

Good.

Yeah?

I'd shake your hand, but there is a needle in there.

You're attached.

It's kinda hard to move.

With all standard therapies having failed Bo, Dr Fry and his team will be trying something

radical - re-engineering Bo's own immune system to cure his cancer.

The first step in that treatment is for Bo's T cells, a type of immune cell, to be removed

from his blood in a process called Apheresis.

Cells get separated in the machine into the different components.

The part that we need goes into a bag, the rest of it goes back into you in the other arm.

Does that make sense?

Yeah.

Sounds good.

Each leukemia cell in Bo's body is marked with different proteins on its surface.

Among them, one that is called CD22.

Since Bo's immune system doesn't recognize his leukemia is a threat, Dr Fry will genetically

modify one part of it, his T cells, so that they can recognize and attach themselves to

the CD22 protein and kill his cancer.

This modified T-Cell is called a Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell, or CAR T-Cell for short.

It is at the cutting edge of cancer research and Bo will be the first leukemia patient

ever to receive the highest dose of these immune cells.

There's really no other option.

Without this working, Bo doesn't survive.

If this does not work for Bo, he's run out of time.

Finding a cure for cancer patients like Bo Cooper, who do not respond to standard treatment

is the holy grail of medical science and has proven to be one of the most difficult and

complicated questions facing humanity.

Nearly 40 years ago, right here at Building 10, one man began a personal quest for this

elusive cure.

Miraculously, he may have found the answer lurking within ourselves.

My voyage in this adventure, if you will, began when I was a junior resident in surgery

and a patient came in, a veteran in his 60s, with right upper quadrant pain.

It seemed to be a typical gall bladder attack.

But as I went through his chart, an astonishing story evolved.

12 years earlier, he had been operated on for a cancer that had started in his stomach.

The surgeons described it having spread to the liver and the patient's abdomen was closed,

nobody expected him to survive.

But as I flipped the pages of this chart, he was back in three months feeling okay.

Six months later he was gaining weight.

A year later, he was back at work.

And here he was 12 years later completely cancer free.

What Dr Rosenberg witnessed seemed impossible.

A person who cured himself of cancer.

Some how that patient's body had learned to destroy that cancer, had recognized it as

foreign, eliminated it just they way it eliminates a virus from a common cold.

It got me thinking that there must be something in that patient's body that caused the regression

and in fact the immune system is our major defense.

The idea that our own immune system is capable of fighting cancer was so radical that when

Dr Rosenberg began his research there wasn't even a name for this experimental treatment.

The main problem with your immune system recognizing cancer is that cancer, for the most part,

it really is self.

It's self gone bad.

So how do you tell your immune system that it's bad?

That's, that's the tough part.

For a decade, Dr Rosenberg tried to train the immune system to fight cancer in a number

of first In Human trials.

For years he failed.

But in 1985, he successfully cured his first patient with a treatment that has since become

known as Immunotherapy.

Activating the immune system for cancer treatment, so called Immunotherapy, is the most exciting

science in the whole cancer field because it's really working.

Today, Immunotherapy is the basis for many of the trials at Building 10, including the

one Bo Cooper is enrolled in.

You want to eat?

No.

You hardly ate anything.

In a Building 10 lab, Bo's immune cells are being genetically re-engineered in the hope

that they can recognize and fight his cancer.

Car T-Cells, that's what we're here for.

That's what we want.

Waiting is the hardest part.

Bo is scheduled to receive 200 million of these genetically modified immune cells.

But the work to create them in the lab is painstaking and can be unpredictable.

It's important for us to have a sense that, that process of making those Car T-Cells is

going to be successful.

I need to see as high of a number as they can possibly achieve.

The more cells the better.

What's the culture look like numbers wise?

This is today's?

Yeah, these are today.

Yeah, it dropped.

So you're read now at about 13% which isn't great.

The number of those cells is lower than I would have hoped for.

You know, so he may or may not need target dose, you know, but I mean, again, none of

this is certain until we see the final product next week, so...

We really can't wait before we treat him.

He clearly has progressive leukemia.

It's still early, it's gonna be low.

Yeah.

I mean there's something there.

The number of Car T-Cells that I have is not enough.

Dealing with these sorts of trials, it's a roller-coaster ride.

WHAT ARE SHOCK WAVES ? - Duration: 5:19.

What's that sound?

Do you know what that sound was?

Here's another video.

That was a plane creating a shock and breaking the sound barrier.

Recently, there have been a few of videos by Destin on smartereveryday where he talks

about bullets and whips producing shocks.

But what exactly is a shock?

Let's find out on today's episode.

Hi I'm Nikhilesh and I'm Kushal and we are the 2BrokeScientists

At the molecular level, fluid particles travel in a continuum.

When an obstruction is suddenly introduced into the flow, something interesting happens.

The particles in front of it slow down instantaneously, creating an increase in local pressure.

Since the fluid is a continuum, the information of whatever happens in one place is transmitted

to other regions in the form of pressure waves.

This pressure wave then causes the oncoming fluid to adjust its properties.

Don't these pressure waves remind you of something?

Doesn't sound also travel in the form of compressions and rarefactions through a medium?

The information propagation in a fluid happens through acoustic waves which travel at the

speed of sound.

What if the fluid particles are traveling faster than the speed of sound?.

Since the information transfer cannot happen faster than the speed of sound, these fast-moving

particles don't have any information about the obstruction in front until they actually

reach it.

The moment they reach it, an extreme collision of particles with themselves and the object

occurs which manifests itself as a shockwave.

A good analogy to information transfer in fluids are traffic waves.

Take a look at this busy roundabout where one of the cars suddenly slows down.

The driver behind this car receives information in the form of visual signals and he adjusts

his speed.

You can clearly see this wave of information passing backward even though the cars are

still moving forward.

If the cars were moving so fast that the drivers were not able to process the visual information,

they would then crash into each other.

That's exactly what happens in a shock wave.

You would have heard of the Mach number, a dimensionless number is very important while

studying shocks.

Mach number is basically the ratio of the velocity of a fluid to the velocity of sound

in that medium.

So clearly, if the Mach number is greater than 1, it means the fluid travels faster

than the speed of sound and there's no time for information to propagate.

These are called supersonic flows.

A moving shock is called a shock wave which is very thin somewhere in the order of 200

nm and in this region, the fluid undergoes sudden changes in properties.

The Mach number decreases across a shock wave along with a sudden rise in pressure, density

and temperature.

A shock wave is also an irreversible process because of the extreme reactions produced

by the collisions of the particles.

In some applications of aerospace engineering, we try to avoid shocks because they cause

vibrations and an increase in drag.

Even in commercial aircraft, while the plane itself might not go beyond M1, there are regions

over the wing where the flow can locally become supersonic.

This is the exact reason why most commercial planes have their wings swept back.

When air now flows over the wing, it sees a thinner wing because only a component of

the velocity is perpendicular to the wing and now does not accelerate to supersonic

speeds.

When a stationary object emits sound waves at a certain frequency, the waves are generally

spherical in nature and travel at the speed of sound.

The moment an object starts moving, the sound waves in front of the object compress increasing

the apparent frequency and the ones behind elongate decreasing the apparent frequency.

This is called the Doppler effect.

When the object travels faster than the speed of sound, the sound waves that are emitted

form a cone known as the Mach cone The thunderous clap that you heard at the beginning of the

video was when the camera enters the shock cone.

This phenomenon is what engineers took advantage of while designing stealth aircraft like the

SR 71 Blackbird, which travels at supersonic speeds.

By the time people on the ground heard the plane, it was well beyond the reach of missiles.

Shock waves produce a lot of changes in the properties of a fluid, but it's not always

easy to visualize change like pressure or density with our eyes.

That's where interesting visualization techniques like schlieren and shadowgraphy become useful.

Mediums with different densities have different refractive indices meaning that if light passes

through the medium, it changes direction.

We use this property of light to see all the cool images of shock waves.

If you want to build a schlieren setup at home, make sure to watch Derrick's video

at Veritasium.

So shockwaves aren't so shocking after all!!

Thanks for watching we hope you enjoyed the video.

What's So Special About Low Carb and Keto? | Mind Blowing Health & Wellness - Duration: 24:06.

hello everyone welcome to Mind-Blowing Health and Wellness with Violet today

we're talking about low carb diets what makes some low carb diets work and why

others fail and I'm gonna at the end of this video tell you exactly what you

need to do to be successful on this kind of diet because it's not just

understanding what to do it's understanding why you're doing what

you're doing that's gonna help you to be able to be a success when you're trying

to lose weight first of all for those of you don't know who I am my name is

violet Rivera I'm a psychologist and I work out of Montreal which is in Canada

and I've had a private practice for many many years and I'm talking to you today

about diet because it's a topic that comes up often in my office so what

makes a low carb diet successful for some and not successful for others and I

think the most important thing to keep in mind is what first of all is a low

carb diet so we're talking about low carb in the traditional sense of the

word it's eating anything less than 125 isch carbohydrates per day which in the

grand scheme of things is the kind of diet that you're still eating quite a

bit of carbs so the first thing I'm gonna say about why some low carb diets

don't work is because 125 grams of carbs for some people is still enough

carbohydrates to cause your insulin levels to rise significantly leading you

to store fat so let's back up what's insulin so number one reason that

I think that most people have difficulty losing weight when they're trying to

lose weight is that they don't understand what elements come into play

when you're trying to lose weight insulin is a huge factor in weight loss

because insulin is the hormone that causes you to store energy that you

intake so if I eat an energy source which would be carbohydrates or fats

those are the two energy sources that we eat if I eat any of those two energy

sources and my insulin level is hi I will store the energy that I'm

eating what causes us to have high insulin levels well what caused us to

have high insulin levels is the amount of carbohydrates that we eat everything

we eat will raise our insulin levels however when you eat carbohydrates your

insulin levels rise much more significantly than if you eat proteins

or fats which are the three main sources of foods that we're able to eat carbs

proteins fats house the first thing that I want to put out there to you as an

idea whenever you eat you're eating carbs proteins or fats when you eat

carbs they will raise your insulin level significantly and so we need to be

careful how many carbs were in taking that's the first thing that we need to

understand about carbohydrates part of the reason that low carbohydrate diets

tend to help people to lose weight okay that's part one so I just mentioned that

125 grams is considered a low carbohydrate diet however if you really

want to lose weight then rather than just doing low carb I would suggest you

do really low carb something towards the level of a ketogenic diet so that you

would go down to 50 total grams of carbs or less per day now we're talking about

doing nutritional ketosis here the reason that that would be helpful is

that when we do 50 total carbs per day we will very likely keep our insulin

levels in check that's the most important thing again remember when your

insulin levels get past a certain point all they're doing now at that point is

storing carbohydrates into fats and they're storing fats into fats that's

what they do now it's important for us understand something else it's normal

for your insulin to work to get the sugar out of your system because it's

important for us to have a teaspoon or less of sugar circulating in our system

to be healthy right more than that is dangerous for our system so insulin is

doing its job when it says up there's much sugar in the system I'm gonna take

it and store it as fat because storing it as fat is safer for us than having it

floating around as sugar so there's this dust one thing and carbohydrates sugar

you're gonna notice I'm using those two words interchangeably because for our

body they're interchangeable ideas carbohydrates sugars it's this it's the

same thing a carbohydrate basically is a chain of sugars strung together so

keeping our carbs at 50 grams or less is going to be healthy because it's going

to keep our insulin levels low now the other hormone that we need to

know about is glucagon glucagon is a hormone that causes your body to work to

use stored energy so it will go into the fat stores and you know pull the fat out

and it will tell your liver to produce any glucose that it might need so if I

don't ingest any carbs at this meal so that would leave me with protein and fat

if I don't ingest any carbs at this meal let's just say for example as I go

through my day my body would still be able to use energy because it would take

from the fat stores and if I needed some sugar my body could I have my liver

produce a little bit of sugar for me to use so the other so there's two things

will keep a track off at this point we're saying that insulin staying low is

good for me because it keeps my body from storing energy and then we're also

recognizing that when insulin is low glucagon will rise because it's going to

allow my body to use the energy that's within it so a low carb diet then allows

our body to use the fat stores that we have now what's interesting though and

this is something that we need to be careful about what's the possibility

that I'm going to be able to eat low carb without changing the amount of the

other two macronutrients that I'm eating so if I'm eating low carb which means

that I no longer okay let's define a carb right now I'm no longer eating

bread I'm no longer eating rice are no longer eating pasta I'm no longer eating

grains of any kind actually I'm not eating cookies and chips and so

I'm keeping all my carbohydrates low because 20 grams of carbs 50 grams of

carbs that's not a very large number if I'm doing 20

I'm sorry 50 total grams of carbs like a slice of bread has 15 grams of carbs in

it so two slices of bread I'm already at 30 grams of carb these see what's

happening they're like the smallest meal that I'm gonna make at the beginning of

my day let's say I'm making a breakfast I'm almost using up all my carbs so if

we want to be efficient in the way that we are managing the carbohydrates that

we have in our life then using all of our carbs on a potato because small

potato is going to be 50 grams of carbs or a little bit of rice or it's not an

efficient way to use my carbohydrates so what ends up happening is that to keep

my carbs really low I usually end up having to eliminate you know pasta bread

rice all the grains I have to eliminate all those foods that are very high in

carbs so what am i replacing it with I rebasing it with leafy green vegetables

I'm replacing it with cruciferous vegetables those would be broccoli

cauliflower so those kind of things I'm replacing it with salad lettuce so I'm

using my leafy greens as my carbohydrate source and depending on which doctor you

listen to because some doctors say don't even count those carbs other doctors say

that they count but regardless how much of that would I need to eat to be

equivalent to two slices of bread well actually the number is quite high

you can eat quite a bit of vegetables quite a bit of salad quite a bit before

you get to the number of carbs in the two slices of bread so here's the thing

though because you can eat so much of that it's somewhat filling but at the

same time it's not going to you're not going to eat enough of that to replace

all the carbs that you would have eaten to fuel your day so then where am I

where's my fuel source actually coming from it's coming from the fat in the

diet low carb diets that work work when you increase the fats that you're eating

so what's happening is low carb low fat doesn't work and we've seen that model

fail over and over and over and over again

and there's a very simple reason that it fails when you eat a diet that's low in

fat and low in carbs you're not actually in in giving your body a fuel source to

begin with so every day I'm eating I'm not giving my body a fuel source my

body's gonna reheat behave hungrily now what's interesting here is that if I

bring my carbs down very low eventually of course I'm gonna use body fat on me

it has to happen but what's happening is everything's going down so my body

energy won't lower to match the intake of food that I'm I'm allowing to come in

and because I'm still eating carbs remember most low carb diets are telling

you 125 so even if I lower my carb intake to 125 to 150 so my body is still

getting enough carbs that my insulin is being spiked and when your insulin is

spiked and it's storing fat so it will continue to store some but the other

thing it does is it causes you to be hungry when insulin is high your hunger

hormones are still being activated so you're gonna look for food so it's a

very interesting thing that and the other thing that's gonna happen is that

when insulin is also high that means you're still stimulating the parts of

your brain that react to sugar because of course your carbs are still coming in

so that pleasure sensor is still going off that says oh there was sugar in the

system yay and so that also causes us to feel hungry if you want to feel satiated

then your body needs to believe and understand that there's enough energy

there because there needs to be enough energy there one of the things that you

want to try to accomplish is to take your carbs down bring your fats up

because these are two carbohydrates and fats those are the two energy sources so

if I lower one I automatically raise the other to keep a kind of balance

happening so guess what ends up happening when I lower my car

but I increased my fats the total energy that my body is ingesting it remains the

same but my body gets used to running on fats which means that my insulin level

gets to come down well my insulin level comes down what happens my glucagon goes

up so now my glucagon is going into the fat stores and it's pulling out energy

for me to use it's also using the the energy that's coming in from the fats

that I'm eating and so what eventually happens and this

is the beautiful part of the story is that when I become fat adapted so a week

or two later when my body is absolutely recognizing that oh wait the sugar is

not coming back keep using the fats then what happens is that my body starts to

say okay I'm pulling from the fat storage

I've kept my energy levels even because I never had a low I never had a decrease

in the amount of energy that was coming into my body right carbs went down fats

went up what's interesting is that eventually what starts to happen is that

as I'm eating my foods now so I'm eating my vegetables

I'm eating my protein with the fat that comes with it so that means if I'm

eating a steak I'm allowing myself to eat the fat that comes with the steak if

I'm eating a piece of pork and allow myself to eat the fat that came with the

pork if I'm eating eggs I'm eating the whole egg I'm eating healthy fats so I'm

eating nuts that have healthy fats like walnuts pecans I'm eating oils healthy

oils like olive oil coconut oil avocado oil I'm eating avocados I'm eating

things that have healthy fats but eventually what's gonna happen is that

because my body starts to utilize its own fat that those fats get balanced out

as well what you start to notice is that because I'm eating in a way that turns

on this other pathway and because my body has access to my stored fat

eventually I can eat a little bit less fat and still feel satiated because my

body will make up the difference right if I eat 100 calorie sorry 100 calories

yes the less fat today my body will just pull a hundred calories from my fat

storage now why that's cool is because we don't even notice

that we start doing that most people who make this transition just naturally eat

a little bit less fat over time because just eating their normal and not eating

normally until they feel satiated they start to feel satiated sooner and sooner

because a they're eating highly nutrient-dense vegetables which giving

them the micronutrients that they need and then they're eating good quality

proteins and good quality fats that's give me helping them to feel satiated

and helping them to have building blocks for their body and in that process the

need for fats goes down because again the body can pull from the fats on us so

low-carb works best when it's low carb high fat it works even better if it's he

told numbers so 50 grams or less carbs moderate protein high fat and high fat

is an interesting word to use there because like I said eventually it's

actually moderate moderate because the you make up the excess from yourself

now of course over time when you get to your ideal weight your your need to

intake fat resumes because your body is not gonna take and

take and take until you disappear so eventually you will start to even out

and your the amount of fat you consumer I'll go back up but here's the

interesting thing it goes back up to allow homeostasis right it goes back up

to allow you to be even and so the great part about that is you still maintain a

great weight so if you're things I want to say understand when we do low carb

high fat because it's really really important for us to recognize that if we

start off doing a low carb high fat so we take our carbs down or you bring our

fats up and then we don't keep track of our carbs and allow our carbs to creep

back up what happens we will gain weight if your fats are high but your carbs are

high well this is the standard American diet and you will gain weight so it's

important for you to be on board with what you're doing this is not a diet

that you can do halfway this is why low carb in

a sense of 125 grams with high fat you really need to be in a metabolic

situation that's stable for that to work for you if you have any kind of insulin

resistance 125 grams of carbs plus high fat will very likely lead to problems

will lead to weight gain will lead to metamour metabolic issues because for

the person with insulin resistance 125 grams of carbs is too high to keep your

fat high your insulin will be spiking all the time you want to get those

numbers down to less than 50 however if you are in a good metabolic state 125

can work for a lot of people and with high fat and keep you in a great place

but you need to make sure that you're paying attention to how your body is

reacting and if you're doing a 125 with high carb but sorry with high fat and

you're gaining weight or you're not losing and you have weight to lose if

you have weight to lose that's what I'm talking about

then you need to reassess if you do the keto numbers so 50 grams or less and

high fat you will very likely lose any weight that you need to lose you will

also address your metabolic issues that you might have because your insulin

levels will come down it's important for us to understand that our high insulin

pushes people to feel hungry it's part of the the process it's normal for

people to feel hungry when their insulin levels have spiked because it's telling

your system that you know we use the sugar like the sugar got stored the

energy got stored so we will need to replace that storage soon right we will

need to replace workouts stored your body needs to be able to function

so it's important to recognize that it's normal to feel hungry when you feel and

it's normal to eat when you feel hungry the other thing I want you to understand

and I think it's really motivating that this happens but at the same time it can

be very confusing to people so when you start a low carb diet so you take your

numbers down especially if you go to keto numbers and you go

- like 50 grams or less you are going to lose a lot of weight it's important for

us to recognize that the first weight that you lose is water weight so when

you lose you know five pounds in the first week or whatever it is or in the

first month you lose that five pounds and you're like so excited that's water

and it's water because carbohydrates stay in our system because they're bound

to water so they make glucagon glycogen sorry they make like a gym they make

these compounds but it's they use water to do that so of course we retain water

when we've used a good amount of carbohydrates for fuel so it's important

for us to recognize that yes I'm going to lose a lot of weight in the very

first week or two what happens after that is that your weight loss is going

to decrease and you're still going to be losing but maybe you might lose a

quarter of a pound per week maybe you might lose even a quarter pound every

two weeks we need to recognize that that's okay some people are looking they

lose a pound or two per week and that's terrific - but what you need to

recognize is that first of all if you don't have a lot of weight to lose if

you're talking about 20 pounds losing a quarter pound a week is still more

weight than you're losing when you're doing the standard American or Canadian

diet so that's important to recognize the other thing is that it's still a

quarter pound and over four weeks that's gonna be a pound so you're still losing

enough weight to make what you're doing worthwhile and you're still going to be

able to get to the goal that you've set for yourself which I hope your overall

goal is better health now actually I was going to stop there but I'm going to add

another thing that I think is really important for people to recognize

carbohydrates are very inflammatory and as we know inflammation causes us to

retain water and inflammation causes us to be heavier so the more information

you have actually the more heavy you're going to be carbohydrates cause

inflammation and one of the reasons that carbohydrates cause inflammation is

because our information system or so the pathways that are used to heal when you

have a foreign pathogen in you these inflammatory agents are released

and it causes your liver to it causes your liver to release sugar to mobilize

you to be able to fight off the pathogen so basically your liver is giving your

body sugar because it's about to fight and it's a short-term thing right it's

up it's just for that inflammation to happen and your body to kind of grab the

pathogen and try to get rid of it however when we eat sugar our body

doesn't recognize and understand that that's not the liver inputting a signal

that there's a pathogen so we actually end up with inflammation that's with us

consistently causing us to feel not so great right and that leads to other

negatives like brain issues inflammation so autoimmune issues all kinds of things

happening because of our of the excess of information in our system so

decreasing sugar also helps us to decrease the amount of inflammation in

our bodies in them I'm a perfect example of that you know the only reason I found

the ketogenic diet it was because I had a hip issue that was inflammation and I

was trying to decrease the inflammation in my body and so I started to Google

how do you decrease inflammation and I found that it was by reducing sugar so I

no longer have a hip issue and as a matter of fact I got rid of my knee

issues and I got rid of my back issues on it so all of my basically joint

issues that I was having had been eliminated because I found the ketogenic

diet the reason that I'm talking to you about this is I think that the other

thing we need to be cured the other thing we need to understand is that it's

not only about weight loss it's about the quality of life you're going to

improve when some of the other metabolic things that are happening within your

body because of excess of sugar are no longer happening you are going to cure

some of the physical issues that you're living as well if you have them some

people don't have them and you might be lucky that the only thing you're trying

to cure is a weight issue but if you do have these other issues then they some

of them will be addressed by eliminating sugar out of your diet I really hope

that this video was clear and helped you to understand how

low carb works because we take the carbs down and we bring the fats up because we

need to keep the energy as evil even as we can and eventually in that system

the fats will come down naturally because your body will start to use its

own fats I hope that you are able to recognize that this is a process it's K

it takes time we're not trying to eliminate our weight

check issues overnight this is something that you're gonna work on but if I

understand what I'm trying to accomplish and I try to accomplish that every day

then I can focus my attention on eating healthy foods that are nutrient deaths

dense so leafy greens cruciferous good vegetables with high quality meats high

quality fats like the meat the fat that came with the meat or the oils avocado

coconut I'll live you know good cheeses trying to find

foods that will keep me in a ketogenic state of eating to help me to do better

with my for my own health it's about understanding the psychology that's

gonna keep you in place right so if I know what I'm doing is more likely that

I'll do it if I understand why I'm doing is more likely that I'll do it so this

is why I'm explaining it to you because I know that if you understand what

you're trying to accomplish there's a better chance that you actually

accomplish it I hope you found this video helpful I want to thank you for

What to Eat During a Run || REI - Duration: 1:39.

so you've had a good meal the night before and started your day with a small

high carb breakfast what do you need to eat during your run you've got a lot of

options the first is gonna be to focus on small easily digestible carbs fast

sugars basically some people will do this through energy chews and gels

however these are synthetic foods a lot of the time so they can upset sensitive

stomachs so I like to lean on real food so usually on my runs I'll bring along

pretzels maybe some fresh fruit like a Clementine or banana and some W search

for my favorite these are really easy just to give me some fast sugar and salt

and they're easy to pack for longer runs you're gonna need some protein basically

sugars are gonna digest really really fast and go through your system and you

need a slower burn a good way to get protein is something like nut butter and

a little pouch it's easy to pack and trail mix or just a regular energy bar

with a little bit more protein in it these are all ways to support a couple

of hours on the trail the most important thing to remember is always eat while

you're running I often forget so I like to set a watch reminder for every half

hour so to make sure that I get my calories in and everyone needs a little

bit different but the general guideline is 200 to 300 calories per hour so

you'll kind of figure out what works for you and make sure you get those the next

thing we're gonna talk about is how to recover with food after your run which

is my favorite part so make sure to check out that video and don't forget to

subscribe below I'm gonna go finish my run

What does perfect bread taste like? - Duration: 3:58.

Here it is, officially deemed Switzerland's best bread in 2018:

"Feuersteinbrot" made by Stephan Krenger from Bolligen near Bern.

In November it won an award at the Swiss Bakery Trophy,

a kind of bake-off, in Bulle.

The master baker adapted an old recipe.

I simply made it my way,

enriched with sourdough.

We add a little roasted malt

in order to get a darker colour.

That's what really made it my bread.

Next to Krenger is Michael Kleinert.

He is t h e authority on bread in Switzerland.

A trained master baker himself,

his main passion as a food researcher is: good bread.

From the smell you get these very fine acid notes. - Yes.

Both of them taste the award-winning bread, and it soon becomes clear:

Michael Kleinert rates bread very differently from most people.

What I find particularly interesting is

the rediscovery of bitterness.

This exciting darkness produces a hint of bitterness

and that can be enhanced very easily.

Kleinert thinks that bread is underestimated -

and this is down to a lack of appropriate language.

I once had an experience at a gourmet restaurant

in Zurich, where a friend described wine to me

in - how can I say - a very rich and flowery vocabulary.

I gave him a piece of bread and he said:

"The bread tastes good." And that's our reality.

He says that good bread deserves more attention;

many processes to do with baking bread have not yet been researched.

For Kleinert, bread is both a passion and a vocation.

In his laboratory at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Wädenswil

he and his students are researching the taste of perfect bread.

State-of-the-art scientific methods

are used to analyse the crust's crispiness.

In terms of the crumb it's about the size of the holes

and what they mean for the taste.

The researchers meticulously test the crumb's elasticity,

and thus the bite,

and they measure the volume precisely with a laser.

What actually goes on here during baking?

And what about those memories of grandma's bread,

that was simply better in the old days?

A lot of it is myth,

because there is not just one taste.

It's a mix

of different olfactory and taste sensations.

Nowadays we find many different aromas -

for instance more than 300 in bread.

But we can't combine 300 aromas

and then say this is what bread tastes like.

So it's a highly complex phenomenon - taste in general -

but we're tracking down the taste of bread.

Kleinert has developed the world's first taste wheel for bread.

And in Germany the first "bread sommeliers"

are being trained, based on his specifications.

Here it's the old-established baking processes that are critical:

doughs should mature for longer and breads baked more intensively.

As we're dealing with the phenomenon of natural bread flavour,

there is a lot that we still need to understand

as to why doughs used to be made so long.

Although we now know that this is good,

we still need a better understanding

of the biochemical processes

because of course we want ours to be just as good.

The professionals' maxim is therefore:

good bread doesn't need many ingredients,

but they should be of the best quality.

To ensure that our daily bread is a pleasure to eat. 5

What happened in Finland? - MY DAY! (suomenkielinen video, english subs) - Duration: 6:42.

Good morning, greetings from Finland

I decided to film a Finnish vlog since I'm here in Finland

I'm currently staying at my parents' place at Nurmijärvi

I just woke up

As you can see. It's 9.30am

I'm walking our dog

He's also tired at mornings

He didn't wake up before this either

I'm filming this my day today

A day in Finland

Nothing special planned

I'm going to Hyvinkää at noon

Saying hi to my friend Aada and photgraphing her and her horse

And just talking about things

Besides that I'm just going to relax today

It's so beautiful because it's been humid and cold

The trees are covered in ice

I wish the sun would shine, then it would be perfect photo weather

But this will be ok

I hope it looks the same at Hyvinkää

You never know about the weather, but it looks promising right now

I'll take Snö with me, he'll be my assistant

I drove the wrong way twice

We got lost with Snö

But now we're finally here

I'll go looking for the barn door

And my dog is impatient because we've been driving around

He doesn't understand Finnish

Now we're on the photoshoot trip

The surroundings are so beautiful

A bit foggy, I love it

Maco (the horse) is excited

The photos will be great

Basic, every time when I photograph during winter my eyes water

But it's nice when there is snow, the pics will be great

We arrived at Hesburger (a hamburger restaurant)

It's a must every time I'm in Finland

We were at the barn with Aada and now it's time for FOOD

It's almost 4pm and I haven't eaten anything

-You haven't eaten anything?

Well I ate breakfast, but it's a while ago

I don't know what I should order

"Kerroshampurilainen" (layer burger) is the basic

cheese burger would be nice

- Layer burger and Hese's cucumber mayonaise is the thing

Aada knows

I don't know, I don't eat hamburgers or mayonaise

We just came back to my parent's house with Snö

Snö is exhausted from today

There were several girl dogs and Snö fell in love

And many other friends, and now he's tired

He fell asleep

I'm sitting in the guest room and have my robe on since I'm freezing

Going through the pics I took of Aada and Maco

I'm going to edit a few nice pics and publish them on social media

And then I'll make... What's it called in Finnish

Sample gallery

She can choose the photos

I took almost 400 photos and I've gone through them, now there's 253 left

Aada can choose the ones she like

I don't have the energy to choose them

So many of them

Rather give the model the option to choose the photos

I'll sit here about 30 min and fix these

Then it's time for dinner

My mum has made amazing food

What is this? Tell me

Stuffed pineapples, with shrimp, pineapple and nuts

Chicken, chicken and pork, all cooked with seasoning brought from Thailand

And here's coconut rice

It looks so delicious!

We've eaten delicous food and now it's time for sauna

Here's my sister

Sauna and jacuzzi

Here's the spa room

Snö is also going to sauna with us

Now we're in the jacuzzi, and you can't see anything

Wonderful! How cold is it?

39

About 0

No I mean outside temperature

It's about 0 degrees outside and the jacuzzi is 39 (celsius)

It's perfect

It's perfect to end a nice day here

bye bye

Where are you

Topic 2: Minimum Wage – What minimum wage requirements apply to my business? - Duration: 3:57.

When the Fair Labor Standards Act applies, an employer like Sam generally must pay employees

at least the federal minimum wage for every hour that they work.

Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

Keep in mind that state laws may set minimum wages that are higher than the federal minimum wage

If Sam's business is subject to both the federal law and state law, she needs to pay

her workers whichever rate is higher so that she's in compliance with both laws.

You can check the current minimum wage in your state on our website.

For example, if Judy works at Sam's business's location in Colorado, where the minimum wage

is $10.20 per hour, she is required by Colorado law to pay her that higher wage.

The FLSA doesn't require Sam to pay her employees on an hourly basis.

She can pay them on a salary, piece rate, or some other basis, as long as they receive

at least the equivalent of the required minimum wage for all of the hours that they work in

each workweek.

Let's say Judy works 40 hours per week and is paid a salary of $440.00.

If you divide $440.00 by 40 hours, that equals $11 per hour.

That means her pay meets the federal minimum wage requirement.

Special rules apply to "tipped employees," like bartenders and restaurant servers, who

regularly receive more than $30 a month in tips from customers.

For example, if Judy works as a waitress, as her employer, Sam may consider her tips

as part of her wages.

Taking this credit for tips toward her minimum wage obligation is called

taking a "tip credit."

When an employer takes a tip credit, the FLSA requires them to pay at least $2.13 per hour

directly, and allows them to take credit for up to $5.12 per hour for tips the worker receives

from customers during that week to make up the remainder of the full minimum wage.

In any workweek when the worker's tips, when combined with the direct payment the

employer provides, are not enough to reach at least the minimum wage for each hour worked,

the employer must make up the difference.

In addition to tips, Sam may also count other forms of compensation toward Judy's wages.

These include: • commissions,

• some bonuses, or • the reasonable cost of housing, food,

or other facilities she provides for her benefit.

Employers and workers may not make agreements calling for payment of less than the minimum

wage where the FLSA otherwise requires that the employee receive it.

The employer and the worker cannot make an agreement to break the law.

Employers of workers covered by the FLSA must post a notice explaining the law's requirements,

including the minimum wage, in a place where workers can easily read it.

We provide these posters free of charge on our website at dol.gov/whd.

Some employers pay more than $7.25 per hour, but still violate the minimum wage requirements

when they make deductions from workers' pay that reduce wages below $7.25 per hour.

Please watch our video on deductions to learn more.

When employers fail to pay employees at least the federal minimum wage, those employers

have violated the FLSA.

FLSA violations can result in back wage liability, additional damages due to the employees involved,

and even financial penalties to the employer.

If you have questions about the minimum wage, or other wage and hour topics, please visit

our website: dol.gov/whd or call us at 866-487-9243 for more information.

All calls are free, and confidential.

What I Plan On Accomplishing In 2019 - Duration: 10:27.

What's up you guys! It is Moe, back with another video.

Welcome to 2019! I feel like last year

2018 if we're being honest. For me

a good year

but also kind of a

heavy year. Heavy in terms of being stressful and just

kind of hard it was definitely a

wake-up call

There was a lot of things that

happened. A lot of good things, some bad and not like bad bad, but just like I

definitely am preparing to never have this happen again. So if that makes sense did it make sense.

In 2018, I accomplished a lot of the things that I had set for myself.

I wanted to continue fitness, I'm doing it. I am still to this day doing that.

Fitness is a part of my life I go to the gym practically

every day

mostly on weekdays, but

Sunday's I go sometimes.

I wanted to get back into photography and work on my blog and my youtube channel I did that

Even though I stopped in the middle of the year

For the most part I did do it

and

I did photography.

I wanted to get back into that. The pictures that I did with Wes and Talicia are

The top pictures. I feel like I've ever taken in life period.

I saved a lot of money

As you guys may have found out from my last video

I work a lot and I don't really have a lot of free time

But with that I was able to save a lot of money

to be able to

fund and use for my future and I met my savings goal and

I feel super proud. It kinda makes everything feel worth it.

In terms of what I want to accomplish

This year specifically 2019. That's what we're about to get into

So my first

initial goal for 2019 is to

Find a way to work on my passions, by working on my portfolio

Make it a priority; like I said in my last video

or my

my last video

it should never be a moment where like

you're just giving up all the things that you want to do because you don't have time to

Do it. You should always make time for things that you feel passionate about. You would rather have your life be about

And those things you should make a priority in your life. No matter how busy it is

And so that's what I want to do. I want to work on a portfolio

I really want to get back into photography and I really wanna work on

Learning set design and continue getting better at 3D modeling and Motion Graphics as you guys know

I put some arti-after,

Wow artificial(??)

After Effects videos

and

Some like visuals kind of like made with code and stuff and I kinda wanna post more stuff related to that as well

My second goal for the new year is to journal. I've been journaling

For like two years now, but I'm gonna be honest. I've not been really super consistent with journaling. I feel like I

kind of journaled, I mean I especially journal when I had

thoughts that

were negative

I feel like, I was sort of complaining to other people I thought it's better for me to just write it down than to always be like

Mom, Mom, Dad, Dad

Friend, Friend

Like this is what's going on. I just feel this way like sometimes get really complainy

things aren't going

the way I felt like in that moment should go.

That I would always just be complaining about that one particular thing because that thing is the one thing I wish I could do that

I can't

Which I've explained, in my last video. So I

wrote it down and at this year, I want to be way more consistent about it

I want to journal every week.Maybe not every day. I feel like that might not be realistic

Like realistically I could probably do every week. So by the end of the year I'll have 52 entries

The third goal that I have is my

Website and my YouTube channel and sort of my social media presence; in particular Instagram

I really want to post a lot more and make a lot more content on that

I've really been focusing heavily on my website. There's a lot of new articles on there

check out AHARONK.COM, if you haven't been on there the best website on the internet.

For life,

fashion,

and style. I talk about a lot of stuff on there and there's going be way more articles

So and I'll and more articles about different things and I have a lot of different ideas for my youtube channel as well

So that's one of the things that I would love to explore more of in the new year and really share that

part of myself to the world.

I think for the longest time I got caught up

I think I got caught up in just like wanting everything to look perfect

And be perfect and I felt like if I was like in this particular place or in this particular place it just looked

raggedy haha

so I just felt like I got caught up in like things have to look perfect things have to be like this this this this

This and then that just stopped me from posting at all. And I felt like I wanted my videos to look a certain way

I wanted to talk a certain way and now I am at a point where I just don' care about that anymore. I want to just make the content

I want to make and I just know it's going to get better as I keep making it

so that's like that's in period I feel like get so caught up in how things look and

perfection then you just kind of get stagnant and

you don't do anything because

You can't change that right now. There's nothing you can do right now for that to change

And so you just if you get caught up on that then you're just not gonna like do anything. You're not gonna

Explore the things you want to do

You're not gonna talk about the things you want to do and all the thoughts you have and all the things that you want to

create right now are just paused because

You can't do it. I'm just gonna look the way you wanted to look even if it still looks great

You know what I mean, so I just think why not just post

My fourth goal is

finances, so

This goal. I never thought would be one that I had to say

what I mean by that is

I've been working so much as I said before and saving as much as I can over the past two years and

I'm trying to create a financial runway. I'm trying to create I

guess financial freedom and what I mean by that is I'd like to

Have money and be able to

live the life where I can focus and work on the things that I'm passionate about and I don't have to do things that

Take me away from that I should say I'd really love to

Be financially free and I can just explore all the passions. I have I'd love to travel and I love

To do that and I'd love to work on those things and I do know that even with financial freedom

It doesn't mean happiness. It doesn't it doesn't mean that like things are not going to be things that you don't want to do

It just means hopefully less of that and more happiness

Do you mean like if I can do the things that I want to do without ever having to...

participate in things that take me away from my passions

then I feel like I

can

be free to kind of work on and do the things I love to do. And I can fail and succeed

Just do all those thing, and I feel like that's what I want to work towards because that's right

I just desire to that I don't want to wake up and go to

work on someone else's thing that in reality. I don't really

want to do I guess

Like long term wise, I like sort of what I like to do

But it's not at all. What I wish I I'd rather be doing that that make sense

And so, you know, I have some pretty big steps that I'd like to take in this upcoming year

To continue down that path towards financial freedom and I would love to document that and show that on my channel.

You know yeah, so that's kind of one thing that I'd love to work on is my finances

and continue working

My fifth goal is health and fitness. I'd love to continue

health and fitness, but one thing I really just like to set straight is

Arms back and

abdomens

period. Like I just want all of that to just look at different like another level like I've already made a lot of progress and

Fitness so far

And I definitely look stronger and I guess leaner and skinnier and then I looked before and muscular as well

but I'd really just like to just transform that to just the whole another degrees ( as in another level ) and

Those four things in particular. Are things, that. I really just would love to just

Get to that next level.

Those are my goals for 2019

Thank you guys so much for watching if you made it this far in that video

Those are the things I'm gonna be working on and I'd love to hear

What you guys plan on accomplishing in the new year down below in the comments section.

Please give this video a like, thumbs up and

Tell me down below also what you guys would love to see more from me in the 2019 Year

Thank you guys so much for watching this video and goodbye
