Youtube daily game Mar 29 2018

AppOn is based out of Pune and we started in 2012,

we make games which are easy to explain; optimised for the emerging markets.

With such a tremendous acceptance of the smartphone

we have to focus on these markets to maximise our revenues.

They hold a great deal of business opportunities for us.

So, Kitchen Story is a simulation casual game.

It's also a skill management game.

So you have to cook different dishes and compete with different world class chef.

When Kitchen Story was at the conception level itself

we had kept in mind that whatever we make, we make it under 20 MB

In India, basically there are plenty of challenges that we face.

One of them is the device compatibility.

Second is the data cost.

Third is the low performing devices and the language support.

So one must make sure that the game is built for all the kind of devices

and the performance should be same on all the devices,

whether it's a high end device or a low end device.

We learn from our past mistakes

that bringing a game heavier is gonna be disastrous for these countries.

So we were actually motivated to make a game which is lighter and faster

Working with Google,

we found out the best possible ways to keep the game size smallest.

The first one would be to use Noto Fonts instead of using custom fonts

as it reduces the size of the applications

and it's very easy to translate your games in other languages.

Second of all, native shapes are useful for animations, UI and effects

so if you use native shapes, that helps to reduce the game size drastically

and to make sure that while reducing the game size

we do not compromise on UI and UX.

I would say, use colour tables, the image is like matrix of the colours

where you can take the colour tables and index separately,

then you just change the colour table and you have altogether different image.

We made the game to work in the offline mode,

because in India not everyone has the internet connectivity all the time.

We also shifted a lot of game data, game assets to the cloud

Up till now we got almost six million downloads

and over 100,000 reviews with a rating of 4.4.

The initial retentions are really high because the game is very easy to learn

so the – the day 1 retentions are up to 60%

We always are focused on making a lighter,

faster game with having a great user experience.

Now all these techniques which we have been using so far

and now it has become the part of our DNA

and we do follow these techniques in our newer games.

Funnest Mini Games In Yakuza 6 | Backlog Battle - Duration: 6:30.

What's up everyone!

Alex here, and today I want to show you guys some of the side activities that you'll

find in Yakuza 6.

Before we start, I want to just remind everyone that the demo is available on PSN right now!

It's got almost the whole first chapter of the game, and you can carry over any progress

you've made in the demo to the full game once it comes out.

To me, the best Yakuza experiences are a blend of the series' rich storytelling, mixed

in with some of the kookier side activities.

But these aren't your typical side stories - some have deep mechanics that could very

well be spun off into their own game!

Keep in mind that I won't be covering all the side activities in Yakuza 6, but only

the ones that I thought were either highly entertaining or have some deep mechanics built

into them.

Besides, I still want you all to be surprised when the game comes out but at the same time,

I also want to show you all some things you can look forward to once you finally get the

game.

So here's 6 of the funnest side activities in Yakuza 6!

#1: Eating a balanced meal and working out If you follow me on Twitter, you've probably

seen me talk about how obsessive I am with making sure that Kiryu is not only full every

single time, but also what restaurants I want to go to in Yakuza 6.

That's because the kinds of food that you eat will actually determine what experience

points you get.

In fact ANY ACTIVITY… including going to the gym, playing SEGA arcade games, and so

on and so forth… will gain you experience points.

But somehow, eating a ton of food and going to the gym have been extremely satisfying

for me in this game.

Don't worry though: it ain't intrusive like the Sims.

The game won't complain if Kiryu is hungry.

Even now I'm thinking, "Where do I want to eat?"

In the game, I mean, not in real life!

#2: Video chat At first glance, you might think that watching

the "live feed" of the ladies in Yakuza 6's video chat would be the most distracting

thing about this activity.

Think again.

The biggest distraction is actually offered by its (clears throat) lively live chat, with

hilarious names such as divorced7times, and take-your-heart…

Wait a minute!

The activity is pretty simple: help Kiryu not fumble over his keyboard and type messages

to reply to the girl onscreen.

Honestly, while the girls are cute, the biggest draw for me is the live chat's reaction

as well as Kiryu's replies.

The masking of the branching to different videos is cleverly hidden behind a buffering

animation, and there's enough variance to the activity that keeps making me come back

over and over again… just to see how everyone's reacting.

#3: Bar conversations Who'd have thought that one of the more

entertaining activities in Yakuza 6 involved drinking with strangers and striking conversations?

But that's exactly what you get when you start heading into Snack New Gaudi and meeting

each of the bar's regulars.

Various activities within the bar will help you get closer to some of the regulars and,

if you get close enough to them, you get into some really serious stuff as you try to help

liven the conversation and gain the favor of Mama.

What did you say?

An excuse to sing karaoke, play darts, and eat food?

Sign me up!

#4: Baseball Ugh.

Baseball.

I'm just not a fan.

But somehow, Yakuza 6 made me one!

You're probably thinking, "Man.

Playing an entire baseball game?

That just sounds lame."

But in reality, you're actually more of a team captain than anything, really.

You're basically tasked with assembling your team, often by doing menial tasks like

buying things players want in order for them to join you, and training and adjusting your

roster depending on their mood and performance ratings.

Then, once you play the games, you're presented with a simplified representation of the events

of the game, complete with a fast forward button, as you watch (and hope) that your

team wins.

To inject a little bit of action into this, the game will ask you to go to bat once in

a while… you'll never be asked to pitch.

It's there where you can really show off your swinging skills from the series' batting

cages!

But just don't take my word for it - check it out when you get the game and see if it's

your jam!

#5: Spearfishing I don't generally like fishing in video

games.

But spearfishing certainly isn't like most fishing in games!

With mechanics closer to Virtua Cop than Sega Bass Fishing, spearfishing is a thinly veiled

homage to the former game.

There's not much more to be said about this activity other than the bosses are aquatic

creatures and that the gameplay is shooty shooty.

But it continues the legacy of a long line of incredible SEGA shooters the company's

released over the decades, and it's a great honor to that legacy.

#6: Clan Fights This side activity is pretty intricate.

Not only is it very different than the activities in the past, but it's also got the most

guest characters.

Starring wrestlers from New Japan Wrestling (NJPW), clan fights are basically a hybrid of real time strategy

and tower defense - except the towers are actually moving around.

Your goal is to defeat the boss at the end of the street.

If you manage to defeat him, you win!

Outside of these clan fights, you can adjust your organization's hierarchy by assigning

different characters to different parts of the organization, weakening or strengthening

the people at the top.

Much like baseball, you'll encounter these characters elsewhere in the game.

But there's some special characters that you can get by browsing the web and checking

SEGA's posts.

These codes will unlock guest characters that you're probably already familiar with!

There's even an extensive online mode where you can pit your team against other teams

out there!

It's definitely a side activity that you'll be playing past the end of the game!

And that's it for my list of the funnest side activities in Yakuza 6!

Did any of these look cool to you?

Let me know in the comments below and tell me if you want me to dive deeper into any

of these activities!

Optimize Games with Intel® Graphics Performance Analyzers | Intel Software - Duration: 1:04.

I'm Seth Schneider, here at GDC 2018,

showing off the new release of Intel Graphics Performance

Analyzers.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Here at GDC, we're showing some really cool new features

in Intel GPA.

We're working on Fortnite and Space Pirate Trainer.

So in the Fortnite booth, what we're showing

is our new hotspot enabling mode.

You can actually take hotspot enabling, reorder your frame,

and find Intel GPU hotspots very easily.

We're also taking a look at Space Pirate Trainer.

Space Pirate Trainer is now released

for Windows Mixed Reality.

And what we've been able to do is

optimize it to run at 60 frames per second on even

the laptop form factor, like a Surface.

So here at the booth, we're showing

all those optimizations, how we got from,

you know, less perform IT to really perform IT-- really

great experiences on Intel.

You can download Intel GPA for free at software.Intel.com/GPA

Super Mario Odyssey - Gimpy Goes Gaming E003 - Duration: 4:16.

You all knew it was coming.

A modern Nintendo game.

Their games used to be so simple.

But somewhere down the line, the controls got complicated.

Now you have to flail like an idiot to get anything done.

For your average gamer, it's a mild inconvenience.

For someone with accessibility needs, it could mean the difference between being able to

play or not at all.

The Mario franchise really needs no introduction.

If you are even slightly aware of video games in the last 30 years, you know Mario is THE

traditional platformer.

Mario Odyssey is the current killer app for the Switch, with rave reviews across the board.

It's safe to say it's a good game, but let's see how it handles accessibility.

As I mentioned, Mario Odyssey is exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

This console has many control schemes to pick from.

Docked, portable, Joy-Cons in the holster, with the little wrist strap things on, a Pro

Controller and even a 2 player mode.

Most of these control schemes work largely the same, with the exception of the Joy-Con

and 2 player.

In spite of all these selections, there are no options to customize the controls.

What you see is what you get.

Like most modern Nintendo games, motion controls are featured heavily in Mario Odyssey.

Shaking and flicking motions are Odyssey's modus operandi.

There are some interesting potential issues they bring up.

While checking out the options menu, I found a way to turn off motion controls.

I was thrilled to see this, until I did some testing.

This toggle essentially does absolutely nothing.

Whether motion controls are turn on or off, they are always active.

The only thing it changes, are tips that popup on screen that give you button alternative

to the motions.

These button input options are also always active, no matter what it is set to.

A little misleading if you ask me.

Another thing to consider is that even with the motion controls turned off, there are

certain moves that are better with motion, or absolutely cannot be performed without

motion.

This can make obtaining certain moons much more difficult, as I compared my playthrough

of the game with a friend.

Luckily, I was still able to beat the game, but I have not gotten every single moon, so

I can't say if these motion-only moves are necessary for 100% completion.

On a more positive note, while there is no option for a colorblind individual, I did

not encounter any obstacles that would make this an issue.

Sounds are also unnecessary with heavy use of text to communicate to the player.

The only thing you would really miss are Mario's grunts and "Wahoos!" if you are hard of

hearing.

So my verdict for Mario Odyssey is that I can see there was an attempt to downplay the

motion controls.

I'm betting this was to accommodate the portable mode, so you don't look like a

complete idiot in public.

Whatever the motivation was, it is appreciated that the game was beatable without them.

Hey everyone!

Thank for tuning in to another Episode of Gimpy Goes Gaming.

Be sure to like and subscribe.

Hopefully this video was informative for someone curious if Mario Odyssey would work for them.

GENESYS | INDIE GAME DEVLOG #1 | SHOWCASE - Duration: 3:37.

Hey everyone and welcome

to the showcase from my current game project.

Genesys.

Genesys is a strategy simulation game

that i'm developing in unity.

And i will show you today my progress

and hope you follow these devlogs.

So, now i show you my current progress to Genesys.

It's maybe a small clicker rts game.

So you control easily everything with your mouse

when you will also with your keyboard.

At the beginning you can choose between three difficulty settings

and then also between different nationalitys.

Currently the game has only one. The Vikings.

So let us choose the vikings.

The Island is completly random when you start a new game,

so you have anytime a different island.

I worked hard and long on this generator.

But for now i'm very happy with it.

Later i make maybe the island bigger, or add some nice functions to make more villages on neighbour islands like in the game anno.

The Building Menu is controlled by your mouse click.

You can click and interact with any hexagon on your island.

When there is currently another building on this hex, you have access to other settings for it.

On your island you must produced some food for your villager and create a nice small village

later i will add some other functions like trading with other tribes and so on..

And i'm thinking about to create a nice campaign for every nationality.

We will see.

Also in Genesys you have to fight the different seasons.

the seasons have some handicaps for you.

In the Autumn there is currently nothing, only some rain and umbrellas.

But there is also a hot summer, in the hot summer time your factories work slower because they sweat.

So the worker in the factories do not feel like to work.

In the Winter your villager can be sick,

later i will add some functions to the sickness.

But currently, they become healthy after few seconds.

For exactly 2 months i started this project.

So here you can see some footage from the first steps.

The Game starts as a 2D Game, i've added the 3D Stuff later.

So yeah, this was the progress after one week.

The Mills are currently not implemented in the new build, but later they come back.

Because in Genesys you have access to different civilization states and need to unlock some buildings.

I'll be hoping you follow these kind of videos.

And we can make a great game together.

I will also stream on twitch to this game, so you can see more development.

The Twitch link is in the video description, so maybe i see you there.

I'm wishing you a beautiful easter time

and i see you next time.

Bye.

How to Set Up 3ds Max CAT Rig For Game Engines Like Unreal - Duration: 5:16.

Hey, fellow animators, I'm Miloš Černý and today we are going to take a look at a topic

many of you have requested.

How to build up a CAT rig the way to be compatible with current game engines

like Unreal, Unity and so on.

Let's take a look.

I will use the same model and rig of this low poly wolf I used in previous video also.

It is free to download for my Patreon supporters.

I will be occasionally releasing content exclusively for my Patreons, to express my appreciation

and gratitude towards them.

So, the big part of this rig is done in a standard way.

Nothing special about it, you can watch several other videos on my channel

to see how to build a CAT rig.

However the one and only difference, is this bone here.

Which is a Root bone.

To explain why is this important we first have to understand how game engines work with

character rigs.

In CAT, the triangle below the rig, is just a helper object.

It is not a Root bone and it is not being exported with the rest of the animation.

This means that in CAT the root of your whole rig is the first bone

which is the parent of every other bone.

In our case the Pelvis.

This works fine for animating in animation softwares like 3ds Max, because there isn't

any particular reason for having additional bone as a root.

However for game engines there is.

Most of the game engines usually need a bone above all the rest, for different features.

Bone commonly named as Root.

For example Collision Mesh is usually tied with the Root bone.

Features like root motion or even general position of the character is driven by Root bone.

So, what this means for us, is that we need a bone above the Pelvis in the hierarchy.

Let's create an additional bone for Pelvis.

Name it Root

And zero it out.

But now it will be a child of Pelvis and driven by Pelvis, which we don't want.

We need it to be above the Pelvis in hierarchy.

So link the Pelvis to it and if it moves, zero it out again.

Now if you create an animation layer

And move the Root bone, you see the Pelvis is linked to it and moves with it.

But actually, this is not exactly what we need.

You see, you still want to be able to animate the root bone separately, in case it needs

to be animated.

Imagine you have animated some "Start run".

Don't mind the actual animation, it's clip loaded from different rig and just for

this presentation purpose.

But here you can see the problem.

At frame 0 the root bone is placed fine, but at the last frame, we need it to be below the wolf.

But if I try to animate it now, it of course moves Pelvis as well.

This means you would always have to animate Pelvis bone with Root bone as an effector,

which is wrong.

The correct way how to set this up is actually very simple.

CAT gives you an option to disable inheriting of parameters from it's parent.

If we disable them for the Pelvis bone, you can see, we can now animate the Root bone separately.

And Pelvis stays as it was.

So basically, this is all there is to it for setting up a CAT rig for game engines.

Just create a Root bone, link Pelvis to it and disable it's inheriting of parameters.

However, we are not done with the video yet, because this set up creates another issue.

And that is with the CAT's motion layers, or procedural animation if you will.

If we create a new motion layer now,

This will happen.

You can see that the Root bone took the animation of Pelvis and Pelvis is not moving.

That is because we rearrange the hierarchy and CAT's motion layers consider the first bone as Pelvis.

This means that motion layers would be unusable with this set up.

Which would be a terrible shame, because procedural animation is one of the key advantages of CAT

over different animation systems.

If we would try to reenable the inheritance just for this animation, it wouldn't work either.

The only solution I came up with is to delete the Root bone when using motion layers.

Animate the cycle you want.

Let's say this would be it.

Collapse the layer.

Which means that it bakes everything you have in the layer stack into one absolute layer.

Now save just this layer as a clip.

And load it on the rig where you still have the Root bone.

And it will work fine.

This is a bit of a nuisance for sure and you will have to keep more .max files on your hard drive

because of this.

But in my workflow for example I keep animations separated in different files anyways, so this

doesn't affect me at all.

But anyway, you will encounter this problem only with the motion layers and you can still

use them this way.

I have looked around the internet quite a bit and a lot of workarounds I have found for this,

were even worse or harder to set up than this one.

There actually aren't a lot of information about CAT anywhere and a lot of stuff I do

I realize how to do by myself.

But, I have tested everything and it works fine.

So that's it.

You can of course change the shape of that Root bone to whatever you like,

for example to an arrow like I did here.

I hope you enjoyed this video.

It was a topic I was asked a lot about.

If you would like to see more stuff like this support me on Patreon or with any other way

you would prefer.

And as always, share, like and leave some comments.

I read them all.

I am Miloš Černý and Thank You for watching.
