Youtube daily up Feb 14 2019

Within all humans there exists a capacity to love and to hate.

We now live in a world that is full of racism, discrimination, and envy.

But equality does not come easily.

Sometime we have to find our own way to make it happen.

And we must all band together to enact change.

Speaking out against inequality is everyone's civic duty.

In order to promote equality we must consciously embrace diversity. We must actively accept others.

And I rise up. I rise like the day. I rise up. I rise unafraid. I rise up.

Equality is something to be fought for by everyone.

True equality will come when we become a world that sees people first for who they are. Period.

By having conversations in an open and honest way

I will be able to embody equality in my own generation. Thank you.

1989: ACT UP AIDS Activist Takes On The New York Times. - Duration: 7:41.

In the latter part of the eighties and the early part of the nineties, my life in New

York City was dominated by AIDS activism.

I was an AIDS activist.

I was a member of ACT UP.

ACT UP was a direct action coalition of people who took to the streets to change policy regarding

AIDS in the government, in medicine, in everything.

When I joined ACT UP in the fall of 1987, I thought, where do I belong?

And somebody said, "Well, what do you do?"

I said, "Well, I'm a journalist."

And they said "Okay, so why don't you become part of our media committee?"

"Well, what do they do?"

The media committee reaches out to journalists to make sure that they write about the AIDS

problem, because a lot of people were ignoring it.

The New York Times was, is, and remains the newspaper of record.

And so if something doesn't appear the New York Times, it's as if it didn't happen.

The New York Times was really bad at their AIDS coverage.

Fast-forward to 1989.

The Times, at this point, had just published an editorial.

The headline, I believe, was "Why Make AIDS Worse Than It Is?"

The idea of this op-ed was yes, AIDS is an awful thing but there's only a finite number

of people who have AIDS and once those people who are infected pass away, then we'll have

fewer people with AIDS.

It was one of the most callous, tone-deaf editorials The New York Times ever wrote.

Needless to say, we, the members of ACT UP were pissed off.

This was just the crowning glory of years of ignorance coverage of the AIDS crisis.

And so we decided that we were going to have a demonstration in front of the home of the

New York Times publisher and his name was Arthur Sulzberger Sr.

And he was nicknamed Punch.

I don't know - it was a name that came from his childhood.

A bunch of us started wheat-pasting nights before the demonstration.

And it was all on the upper - Upper East Side.

The posters had a variety of messages that all were focused on the New York Times saying,

"Your coverage is going to cost lives," "You've got the story wrong," and in

one image we had, we took the photo of Arthur Sulzberger Sr. and wrote on top of the poster,

"Punch, you fucked up."

This was the prelude to the demonstration that was going to happen later that week.

So this demonstration happened on a hot July afternoon at 80th and Fifth Avenue, which

was the home of Arthur Sulzberger Sr., right across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

And because we knew about the demonstr - they knew about the demonstration, the police were

there as well.

There are only about 100 of us.

There are probably 150 cops there to protect to the home of Arthur Sulzberger Sr.

We realized we weren't going to get anything done here at Fifth Avenue and 80th street

or 81st Street and so the people who were negotiating the demonstration, who had organized

it, said "We need to try another alternative, another strategy."

And so they said, "Let us - we are going to march from 81st and Fifth Avenue down to

43rd Street and Broadway, to Times Square, to the office of the Times.

We're gonna bring our message of anger and protest right to the front door the Times.

And so 100 people just started marching down Fifth Avenue to the Times.

And the cops were like, went crazy, "What the hell are you doing?

Where are you going?"

You know, at first, they tried to stop us but they realized that the only thing that

they could do was give us an escort so because otherwise we were going to create a traffic

jam.

So we arrived in Times Square, by now it was rush hour, and there was all this traffic

there and we were in the middle of it.

A hundred - or more than a hundred - people screaming and yelling and speaking out against

New York Times.

And at this point, the cops said, "Well, what're do you gonna do now?"

"We're gonna go in front of the New York Times."

"Oh no, you're not!"

"Oh really?

Okay.

Then we're gonna have a sit down right here in Times Square at rush hour."

"Oh.

Okay.

Well, you could go into 43rd Street."

So again they escorted us into 43rd Street because we had stood up to them.

And we got out in front of the Times that we protested.

So we had the protests and we left and, you know, the anger subsided.

You know, we were trying to point out that if the New York Times is getting the story

wrong, that was going to have ramifications in the public sphere because politicians read

the New York Times to tell them what's important.

And if the New York Times is trying to make AIDS seem unimportant, the public, politicians

aren't going to fight as hard to it enact AIDS policies.

So we really felt good coverage in the New York Times, good AIDS coverage, was a matter

of life and death.

And that's why we went to protest that day.

And the most interesting, most horrific part of this afterwards was that nobody wrote about

it.

The only newspaper willing to touch the issue was the Village Voice and they wrote a whole

piece about not only the fact that the New York Times had been bad at coverage - at AIDS

coverage, but also that they obviously had enough power in this city that they could

also squelch any resulting coverage and summon hundreds of police at a moment's notice.

There wasn't any immediate change that was yielded from that protest.

Any change in their editorial policy and being better about AIDS issues and gay issues would

happen a few years later, you know, with the change of editorship and change of staff there

and the change of the times, the change of the era, where people were a little bit more

sensitive towards LGBTQ and AIDS issues.

All the problems that brought ACT UP into being are still there now.

So there is ample reason to get out there in the streets and to fight, you know, as

the slogan went: ACT UP, fight back, fight AIDS.

And I think, unfortunately, that it's just as relevant now was it was over 30 years ago.

Having A Plan A - Shape It Up (Nicole Simonin) - Duration: 4:26.

[Nicole Simonin talking] Hey Nicole here from Shape It Up Fitness and today we're talking

about making a plan and another plan and another plan...

to help you get to your fitness goals.

So stay tuned!

You know there are some people that are waiting for the perfect moment to start a fitness

program and it's never going to happen.

I got news for you.

It's never going to be the perfect time. It's never going to be the perfect climate.

There's always stuff going on.

So how you approach your fitness...

do you really want to do it??

That's the first question you should ask yourself.

If you keep putting it off, what is holding you back?

When you've committed to doing something healthy for your body and starting a fitness

program, you're probably going to jump in and it's going to be great and it's wonderful

for like the first two weeks...

the honeymoon phase..maybe three weeks if you're pushing it.

But then after those first initial weeks...stuff is going to start coming up.

A business meeting.. a last-minute board decision you have to go run to work

or your child is sick and have to go pick them up ...

or you know a death in the family.

Things come up.

This is life, right?

If we didn't have those things we wouldn't have life.

So I always like to have a couple plans made an advance.

Your Plan A is your ideal situation.

That means you could workout at the time that you designated, your food is on point,

you can prep your foods or however you're managing your foods.

That's your ideal situation is Plan A.

Plan B is going to be your first backup plan that

is going to be when there's a situation where your workout needs to bump back for an hour

because you have a meeting at work or your kids are home sick that kind of thing.

Your plan B is going to be what can you do when these certain situations arise.

Say you're traveling for business, what are you going to do to keep going forward on your

fitness goals.

One of the things my be is you're going to have a travel workout that you can do in your

hotel room.

You can go check out the gym at the hotel.

You can go for a walk.

Find walking paths that kind of thing.

So that's your Plan B so it's not Plan A because Plan A is ideal.

Plan B is you're not so ideal and then

plan C is like the emergency

situations in your life.

There's a death in the family.

You're sick.You're going through a divorce.

You just lost your job.

Whatever big life-changing moments that are going on.

That is a time when you're pretty much in "below maintenance" mode.

You are just like "okay what is the minimum that I can do so I feel like I'm still creating

momentum to get me to my fitness goals".

Because if a loved one all the sudden is on hospice, you're going to feel like you need

to be there ..and you need to be there.

So let's figure out what you can do in the hospital

while they're sleeping.

Go walk the halls, go up and down the steps that kind of stuff.

Having a plan C is good because a lot of times when these big life event happen people fall

apart their fitness goals go right out the door.

A great example is Christmas time.

The holiday season is here everybody's having parties and there's so much to do because

you got to decorate the tree , get Christmas cards and all this other stuff and your fitness

goals of the first thing to go out the window.

Then what happens in January when you go "oh my gosh what happened over the past ...since

November? How did I gain all this weight??"

It's because you didn't have a plan C in place or a plan B. Make sure you have your

Plan A which is an ideal situation.

Your Plan B which is not ideal but little stuff coming up.

Plan C is life changing events and some of you may need a D or an E or F plans.

That's totally fine.

So the key is just consistency and just make

sure that you stay on the path to your fitness goals.

That's all from me today.

I want to thank you for being here.

Remember to go visit ShapeItUpFitness.com for more fitness tips, nutrition and mindset.

Remember to get fit, to be fierce and have no limits!

I'll see you in the next Shape It Up video.

Take care.

nothing too fancy but I'm just gonna break down what I got going on I'm in my

room making my beats and whatnot uh yeah let's get right into it

all right so bedroom set up tour let's get it started and you can see you got a

guitar over there I haven't played that thing in in a long time I used to play

when I was younger maybe I should get back into that now that I'm kind of

started making beats and that sort of thing but this is the setup as you can

see I got a nice little desk nice wood top you see the you know normal chair

from Staples I don't know why I'm telling you where I got everything from

but yeah got that bad boy from Staples if you want to go to your local Staples

check it out yeah so this is my monitor this it this is like a gaming monitor

and I don't use it for gaming really at all I mean I got my xbox

I don't play on like PC or anything but I just like it it's got it's like a

curved monitor you feel me and I really like curved monitors so I'm like I'm a

cop it and I got this badass desk for Christmas it is it's like quite quite

longer than a normal desk that's my old desk over there and yeah I just wanted

more or work space so copy desk it's nice I do everything off the laptop and

I just connect it to the monitor because I like to look at stuff on the bigger

screen it makes me feel more professional and yeah you know I'm

saying little mouse pad can't be I mean this is hard to use if you ask me so I

like to use the mouse I got logitech speakers I don't have like the rocket

speakers or any of those cool producer ones but these are actually very high

quality for the price point these are these were like a hundred bucks yeah a

logitech speakers this isn't like a treble thing this is just like a

Pease show showpiece yeah but these are actually really high quality like the

sound is very crisp if you get what I'm saying and let me show you the subwoofer

good size sub woofer think it's a 400 watt and I don't know the exact

measurements of it but uh it gets the job done

so if your bond on a budget like your boy then I suggest these a logitech

speakers or if you can get like the the rocket one those are obviously a great

purchase as well but yeah this is what I use to record audio is just like a blue

snowball you can I don't know what those go for maybe 40 bucks something like

that and this is another Logitech product not sure the exact model it's

like see something but uh yeah records in 1080p I think 30 frames per second a

newer one this isn't the newest one this is like the one before the newest one so

every chord is in like 30 frames per second it I don't know something like

that gets the job done again everything here just gets the job done not going to

crazy yeah wanting to keep this video short

and sweet this is my setup obviously as you can see I got the echo studio right

yeah yeah so that is my setup let me know what you think many improvements I

can make I know everything is pretty simple hopefully I get it in the shot as

I'm talking yeah it's nice you know I can make my

music look out the window see the scenery a beautiful New York in the dead

of winter you know I'm saying that's a knife that's some nice bear trees out

Build & Paint a Gorgon Transport. Part 11: Painting The Gorgon - Duration: 18:23.

hey there this is Philip from Beyond the tabletop. In this video I'm painting of

my Gorgon Armoured Transport. I've already done several videos on the build process

along with painting of the driver cabin, which you can see masked off in the

yellow at the very back. To see how they've been painted check out my

previous videos as the Gorgon isn't fully built I'm doing this as a sub

assembly, just to make some parts much easier to paint and then once

everything is painted I can finally glue everything together.

Because it's a sub assembly, I've got absolutely everything laid out in front

of you now. So I've got the sidetracks the main Gorgon the main ram, the two

hull braces, the spotlights, barrels, the twin stubber guns, and the ladder along

with the different sponson options which are magnetized to go on the side

sponsons. Before i prime, I'm going to do a light spray with my purity seal that's

just to help give a slightly better surface for the primer to stick to you

and then once that's done I'm gonna go in with my airbrush and use my black

primer. You can see that some parts of Gorgon have already been primed, I did

that before I built the Gorgon just so I could easily paint up the underside and

the recesses that will be harder to reach now the Gorgon is built. A lot of

these smaller items are magnetized but there be quite fiddly to paint and I don't

really want to have to touch them with my hands, so what I've got is a small tin

that I can then it just place all the bits on and easily paint up. This will

allow me to batch paint up all those weapon options without having to hold

them. Before I put the primer on there's some bits I'm masked up, so for example

I've masked up the tracks. Purely because I need to keep that bare resin so when

I add in the track that super glue will have a really good contact between the

two resin pieces. I then at primed the whole

model black and then on the inside you can see a few areas I've masked off the

parts that I've currently got masked off I've already painted it using the

internal colour scheme, the same colour scheme I've done for the driver cabin.

I've then gone and painted the floor using a mixture of lead belcher, iron breaker and then some washes made from Agrax Eathshade, xerus purple and

Yriel yellow. I've then gone and put on a gloss varnish followed by the Mig

scratch effect, this is very similar to the dozer blades that I did in my Storm

Chimera video which you can check out in a bit more detail in the top right

hand corner. With the chipping effect dry I can then paint the floor black and

that's just to dull it down so the grey on top isn't a lighter grey colour from

the rest of the grey which is going on the black. I can then go on and base the

tank in my usual colour scheme of Eshin Grey, Skavenblight followed by Dawnstone

For the front ram I really want to weather this as well, so I've done the

same metallic effects and then on top of this it going to paint it

black followed by my grey colour scheme. And then I can stop scratching off those

top layers of paint to give me a really good weathered chipping effect on the

prow. On the back I've done the same with the floor of the ramp but for the

rest of a ram I've left that black because that's just going to be painted

grey and not have any weathering effect applied to it. For the tracks these have

also been primed and then using Abaddon Black I painted the sponsons

and the track links themselves and that's because of the primer black is

ever so slightly different from Abaddon Black so it's good to get that colour

down now, because I'll be using that for touch-ups later on. I've then gone around

and I've masked the edges of the tracks and masking out those sponsons some when

I'm painting the grey base colors I don't have to worry about repainting the

track links. Again on the back you can see that I've masked off this area

before I primed that so this will be bare resin and it will give me a good

contact point with the main part of a Gorgon when I glue them together. As you

can see here I've got the hull brace. If I flip it upside down you can see some

of that white internal colour I've then it carefully masked off the areas that

are going to be hit with the spray brush next when I do the grey. I'll be angling

the airbrush downwards so some of these bits are going to be caught so I don't

want those bits to be painted, however I don't have to worry about these

undersides because as I'm angling downwards they won't be hit by the

airbrush. I'll go wait and a put on those base coats next followed by

removing the mask and then you can see where we're at with the paint. Here we

are with the Gorgon partially dry fitted just so you can see what the

overall construction looks like minus the front ram and a couple of the extra

details I finished with the grey base colours and I've removed the inner

masking so you can see that interior white

colour I've also been gone on and put the transfers around the gorgon. There's only

a handful, theres a few tank number markings on the side and one on the front, in-front

of the driver cabin. Then there's the word Krieg and an

Aquila and then there's the serial number of the very front. And then if I

spin it around to the other side you can see the exact same transfers. On the back

I've got the Gorgons name which is 'Hammer', which you can just see above the

door. Looking at it up close you can see that white interior colour and how that

colour carries on on the underside of those hull braces. It was important to

you mask that off to get that effect. And again just on these little brackets

just here you can see that you've got the grey and then for white underneath.

That creates a nice detailed contrast between the two rather than just being

an arbitrary cutoff going all the way across. Those hull braces can carefully

come out and you can see some where interior detail slightly better. That

white colour is still quite bright and more need weathering down with oils to

give it the same look and feel as to the interior sections such as the driver

cabin. Those two sections are still filled up by tape, I'm keeping them

protected for the time being and slightly later on I think I'll take

those off. Here is the front ram where you can see those chipping effects in

place, you can see the exterior grey colour with some of that silver metallic

colour showing beneath and on the back you can see the exact same thing on the

ramp because obviously the ramp is a bit it's going to be walked on that's the

bit that's going to be weathered of the most, which is why things like the

interior of the ram which won't have any impact from debris is relatively clean

in comparison. The next step was to do the weathering there's a few steps to

this process, the first one is airbrushing Rhinox Hide

along the rivets and seam lines, which you can just see around here. After that

I dry-brushed Dawnstone along the whole model that's just to pick up some

of the edges and the rivets making the rivets more grey than brown. And then

lastly i sponged on some Rhinox Hide and Abaddon Black mix just to create an

all-over chipping effect. So you can see I've done the chipping effects all over

using the same technique for the rear ramp.

I also added on hazard stripes just along this ramp here,

I did this so there's some visual consistency between the front ramp and the

rear ramp, so you'll see some hazard stripes

out of both ends, this one will be less visible during the game so I wanted some

hazard stripes visible while I'm playing. And with the ramp down you can see the

hazard stripes going all the way around that bracket. The next step is to do

any detail colours such as cabling like the one here which is why I've taken off

that internal mask. You can also see the contrast between the two sections of

whites but much brighter white hasn't had oil wash done on it yet which I'll

get around to later on and I will color match it so they look similar. And here

is one of the side tracks that have all been weathered up as well. In terms of

detail there's some other areas such as the cabling here and the hydraulic

section as well as a couple of internal cables and control panels such as the

ones that you can see just up there so they all need painting up. I'm back

having painted up all the detail on the Gorgon you can see that I've already

done by hydraulics and the Aquila at the front, at the back you can see the

barrels along with the Aquila transfer and ladder. The barrels are now glued in

place and I've just used the same grey elsewhere but adding in the brown and

the kind of bronze gold color which is the same color that I've used on the

spent ammo casings which you can just see inside. That's also the same colour

that I've done with the Aquila. To get those colours to use Rhinox Hide as a

base then you layer on Hashnut Copper to a wash of Agrax Earthshade then

just on the edges you add on Balthasar Gold and then do a very light

highlight a very tips with Lead Belcher, which gives you a nice weathered

effected just on the recesses the hydraulics was a dry-brush from a Lead

Belcher mix with Abaddon Black, so a very dark silver over way up from Lead

Belcher, to Mithril Silverthen washed lightly all over and then more in the

recesses with Agrax Earthshade the cabling is Rhinox Hide, then a 50-50 mix

of Rhinox Hide and Gothor Brown and then followed by Gothor Brown just for

highlights, and then all washed back with Agrax Eathshade. It's a bit difficult to see

but just inside i've also painted up the lights,

that's using the Mephiston Red as a base followed by Evil Sunz Scarlet as a

highlight. I've also painted up the Heavy Stubber using the same gold technique

as the Aquila but using the silver just on a very tip of the bullet. I've also

painted up their heat sinks on their heavy stuff as white that's just to be

consistent with the rest of my army even though something like silver might be a

bit more appropriate, however it also just adds an extra layer of colour to my

army which is already quite dark so having something that's slightly whiter

just it helps add a bit of colour. I've also painted up the sponson weapons this

is the heavy flamer, this is a combination of the same brown for the

cable just here the barrel section is paint up in the same way as for

hydraulics, the end was painted silver and then washed in several colours to

create that heat distortion effect. I'll put a link in the top right hand corner

now so you can see how that was done in more detail. I've also painted up the

Heavy Stubber in the same way as I painted up the Twin Heavy Stubber and

lastly there's the Heavy Bolter Sponson, the black is just Abaddon

Black with a little bit of Minthril Silver as an edge highlight and to

create some chipping effects then I've dry-brushed Lead Belcher followed by

Minthril Silver for all the metallic parts and then lastly for the targeter at

the top I painted it in the exact same way at the Aquila, For the track units I

just had to paint up the side sponsons, these are done in the same way as the

hydraulics, so starting with a black then dry brushing with a very dark silver up

to a light silver then washing the recesses with Agrax Earthshade which gives

you that very dull metallic colour so you can see on the edges it's really dark

and then as it comes towards the sponson where the weapon will be it gets much

lighter. Then I just had to tidy up the edge of the tracks with some Abaddon

Black to get that all black which will match the same black as the rest of the

track because I made sure to paint that Abaddon Black earlier so it's not the

primary colour. And then the last piece is the front ram which again I've got the

cabling and then two hydraulic units which are painted up in the exact same

way that I've already mentioned so we're slowly getting there and we're ready to

apply an oil wash in the exact same way that I did the internal areas. So what I

need to do first is put a gloss varnish down. What i've done is i re-added the mask

just here, that's because II don't want any gloss varnish going

into that internal area that I've already painted up. I'll go away now and

add the gloss and the oil wash and then you should see the finished tank. I'm

back having done the oil wash, you can also see that I've added in the two gunners

at the very rear, I've also taken off all the tape so the masking tape for the

contact points such as on the track as well as taking out the masking tape

protecting the rear cabin. Let me just spin it around so you can see how it all

looks, so here's the rear view showing you the gunners before attaching

everything the gun shield got glued to the gun and then the gun is only

attached to Gorgon via a magnet in that central pivot and then with that

attached I then dropped this guy in and then glued him to the gun at just at

that point. I've not actually glued him to the floor so that's a relatively weak

join so if I do need to ever take him out I could just break that off and get

them out. Here's the other gunner up close and then just looking through that

cabin door you can just see the driver as well. For the internal floor I did a

slightly different mud effects to the one that I did from the cabin, instead

what I did was create a dry mud wash and then I applied that just to the recesses

and at the corners to create the dry mud wash you Steel Legion Drab followed

by Zandri Dust then you need to thin it with a lot of Lahmian Medium that will

turn it into a wash and then you just want to drop in a small amount of the

Forgeworld weathering powders, I use the Dry Mud and the Light Earth just a very

small sprinkling and then mixing that together it creates a nice pin wash that

you can put in all the recesses. If I show you the ram you can see that dry

mud effect just up along the ram section here which I did in all the

recesses along with doing it along these two brackets along the bottom and

on bottom just so you get that kind of caked on dry mud look and likewise with

the front you can see I've just done it here. On the sides you

can see that I also did the oil wash here focusing on these large areas where

you can emphasize those streaks I've also done a mud effect on the tracks now

it's only the front part and the bottom that's really going to be visible along

with this very corner section. This whole section along the top is actually going

to be hidden within the Gorgon itself to create the effects on the track first of

all I did an oil wash all over which are the same oil wash I put on the sides

once that had dried I'd then done the dry mud wash which is the Zandri Dust

and Steel Legion Drab and I'd done that in all the recesses and then once that

had dried I'd then applied a couple of weathering powders lightly all over and

then fixed weathering powders down with some white spirit that also helped get

rid of some of the excess lastly I took a graphene and pencil using a knife I

scraped off some of the lead into a fine powder and then using my finger just

applied some of that powder along the tracks and now you can see you get a

real metallic shine on those raised areas. That completed the tracks, again I

didn't need to worry too much about this top section because only be very edges

are going to be visible so it was mostly concentrating on the front, the rear, and

also the bottom. With that all now done it will be time to assemble the

rest of the Gorgon and show you the finished product. And now here we have

the completed Gorgon build, with everything fully painted and assembled. One

thing to say at this stage I still haven't painted up the troops that go

inside and I don't think I'm going to get around to painting that any time

soon but if and when I do get those painted I'll be doing a separate video

just on painting up those troops so you can see here now that the prow and the

lights are now glued on as well as the sides, these inner brackets can still

come out as well as the weapons which are magnetised now if I just move it

around you can get a good look at absolutely everything

So now I'll just show you what it looks like with the different sponson

weapons here we've got the Heavy Flamer loadout which is probably my favourite

of the sponson weapons although it does make it quite a pricey model in terms of

points especially when it's just a transport. So we can take these off and

add in the Heavy Bolters and then the other option is with the Heavy Stubbers

all of these sponsons can pivot fully. So the front ramp can drop down and then

this inner ramp can also drop down as well revealing the inside and then when

it comes to the ramp of the back. So if I rotate the back round to the right you

can see there hazard stripe on the right-hand side that's been painted on

that inner corridor and then on the left-hand side you can just make out the

red unit which I've painted up to look a bit like fire extinguisher and then

you've also got a hazard stripes as well. And then on the ramp you can just see

that dust effect using that Zandri Dust mix that I mentioned earlier looking at

the gunners for a second you can see the spent shells those were the ones that

I'd scratch-built. With the light frames glued in place I won't actually be

able to remove the gunner or the gun, however it would be possible if I did

need to remove them I could snap these off and then take these out. You'll

notice that the radio antenna at the back are ever so slightly bent

that's just because when I pack it away in my storage case the foam that goes on

top from the model has slightly bent it over time but because it's made of wire

I'm able to just straighten it up and here you can see those Gunners from the

front.

So just looking inside the model you can see the hazard stripes on the left-hand

side on the inside I've gone for a really heavily weathered look to give it

a real war-torn appearance, so there you have it that is the Gorgon build and a

paint series complete it's been a very long project getting it built and even

longer putting all the videos together to put as a series on YouTube so if you've

stuck with it thank you very much I do really appreciate it I tried to be as

in-depth as possible with this build because I know it's currently quite a

rare kit because Forgeworld still don't sell it I hope you've enjoyed the series

as I mentioned earlier if I do ever get around to painting up those internal

troops I will add that on to the series I've got another series coming up after

this on the Marauder Bomber however I don't go into quite as much detail as

this. If you're interested in other conversion projects, painting tutorials

"I show up in service of my audience" - lessons from Melanie Deziel - Duration: 3:53.

Being a speaker is wonderful. For 30 minutes or 60 minutes, you get to do that

wonderful thing you love.

My favorite thing to do is actually audio record...

There's a lot of different...

elements that come into preparing. I think you have to prepare your mind...

first of all. You have to be in the right headspace. And for me that means trying

to remember that I show up in service of my audience. That my job is to deliver as

much value. it's not about how I look or what's on my slides. But really...

...what am i doing to act in service with my audience?

So staying in that headspace,

not getting distracted, is very important for me.

You've got to prepare your body,

physically. You have to make sure that you're hydrating, getting enough

sleep. Really that you're ready to go up there and and be a performer.

Which is what you are.

And obviously you have to prepare by knowing your material.

So for me that's a lot of rehearsal. It's going through the slides

My favorite thing to do is actually audio record myself

going through my slides.

In the hotel room, or wherever else. And then listening to that audio back.

Because I know that that's one way that I really understand material.

So listening back to my own audio helps me understand:

"Maybe I should pause for a little bit longer there"

Or: "I seem to be tripping over this word. Maybe there's a different word...

I could use that would flow better.

If you're going to be speaking, if it's part of your career you have to put time into it.

If you were an actor, you wouldn't just read the script once and then go out on stage opening night.

If you were an athlete, you'd be preparing for a marathon.

Preparation is part of the game.

(Bas): You have a very confident attitude

when you're on stage. You're strong. Are you nervous

before you go on?

You know, I don't. I don't really get nervous anymore.

Which is good.

But to be fair I've been doing this 30 to 60 gigs a year, for several years now.

So it's at-bats. You stop getting nervous.

I think a big part of it too is, everything that you think is going to go

wrong, will go wrong at some point. And when you survive, that it's no longer

something to be afraid of.

I've had the projector go down. I've had

the microphone stop working. I've had someone heckle me. so I don't have to...

worry about those things anymore. I know that if it happens you survive.

But I think a lot of it also comes from practicing and rehearsing with attention.

Bas:"There's a lot of young speakers. What would you advice them to do?"

The biggest thing is you really you have to know your why.

You have to understand your message.

Because I think like many things in life, being a celebrity, being a

singer, anything. You like the idea of it. But oftentimes you don't have

that core thing that's gonna keep you going.

Because the reality is being a

speaker is wonderful. For thirty minutes or 60 minutes, you get to do that

wonderful thing you love.

But the rest of the time, you're preparing, you're editing

your PowerPoint. You're pitching yourself for conferences, You're signing contracts.

All of that is much less glamorous. So if you can connect to that

reason. If you really understand your message and your reason for getting on

that stage. That's gonna push you through past the folks who are

just out there for the 30 minutes of work.

Uyeasound Up Helly Aa 2019 - Shetland's annual Fire Festivals. - Duration: 4:19.

Unst is the most northerly island in the UK

it's the place where I grew up

and that means a lot to me

I grew up here and I loved it

I moved here from Lerwick six years ago

and I constantly get asked by my family and friends

what is there to do in Unst,

I say to be honest I never have a free weekend

I have been basically brought up with Up Helly Aa,

it is a huge community effort

so yeah it's just a big day in a small island community

I was two weeks old I think when I went to my first Up Helly Aa

and I've been at every one since

it's very weird are wonderful

but it means a lot to us.

Every Up Helly Aa we go and visit different locations,

the school, the care home and the old folk

ask any young folk, they all just love to see it

they think it's just great and love to celebrate.

The people.

It is such an easy place to settle into,

the people are so friendly, so welcoming

I just love it, because it's just so.... it's special.

The people are just special.

it's a very different thing, being in the Jarl Squad,

It makes you feel kind of proud, I suppose, of everything that gets done

and everything that's achieved

everything that's celebrated as part of Up Helly Aa.

It makes me feel proud of being from here.

Moving here is the best decision you can make,

The community here always wants you to do your best

and will help you whenever you need help.

I think the people are amazing here,

they all get on so well, they work so well together

they can do so much more than people think we can

I think people think living here means we're a bit more out of the loop sometimes,

but it's amazing the things we can achieve.

Amazing.
