Chad: what's the one event you
won't
want to miss each year? Well if you're
like me you'll agree it's the mesquite
motor mania car show in Mesquite
Nevada and Ria and I have got the in the
inside scoop on these antique cars.
Then we take a trip down to the Glen
Canyon national recreation area to
experience a new adventure center that
will take you to a new height. Finally
what the heck is a flying cowboy? And
how does he surprise his biggest fan?
One things for sure it will be a birthday
for the history books at your leisure
takes flight right now.
Ria: bring it back bring it back stop.
Stop. Ha ha. Hello everybody and
welcome to at your leisure I am Ria
Rossi booth and that's my husband Chad
Booth driving my truck. Hey it's my
truck Mr. This really is my new truck.
Chad: that's true we are at the Mesquite
motor mania car show this goes on every
year is been going on for years it's going
to be one of the biggest car shows in the
Intermountain West with the greatest
and classics, street classics hot rods
modifieds you name it it's here.
Ria: he's in hog heaven he really is.
Chad: yeah I love car shows.
Ria: yeah we just thought, I have my
little 1966 GMC pick up 327 and I
thought we just get down here and see
what we can do and maybe I could win
50 bucks or something. Ha ha. So far
nothing.
Chad: you may be on your way see it's a
good start it's a good solid truck.
Ria: oh yeah we drove it down here.
Chad: it's got a 327 in it it's a nice little
hot Chevy with a 411 rear end in it it
screams at the line just a little bit and
leaves patches all the time but the most
important thing about it is how she got it.
We were on an ATV trip down in
Marysvale and on our way up the
canyon she sees this white truck parked
along the side of the road and she says
look check out that cool farm truck I
want one. I've always wanted one. So on
the way back we stopped to look at it
and sure enough in the window there's a
for sale sign. Three months later twist
twist twist she's got it.
Ria: yeah it's my new favorite baby.
Chad: it's her baby well right now we're
going to go find out a little bit about this
car show it's history and what it has to
offer.
Christian: we are super excited we are in
our 11th year of mesquite motor mania
we started off our first year with 300
cars this year we're anticipating over 900
classic cars. This event is very special
it's opened all makes and models so car
fans can come down here they're going
to see everything from rat rods to muscle
cars mesquite mania really takes over the
whole town of Mesquite. We have
shown lots at all of the hotel casinos here
in town so people really get to come and
see their favorite cars and how beautiful
they are. They also get to see them in
action I think that's what sets mesquite
motor mania part.
Christian: we have burn out
competitions slow drags and a roaring
engines competition we have over
$15,000 in cash and prizes this weekend
for the car owners. So the other great
part is we get the crowd interaction with
this event if you come up to this event
you can go and vote for your favorite car
and your vote counts. There's a People's
choice that will be awarded this week
and then best in the show gets $3000 for
having their car here.
Christian: I like the Lincoln Continental.
I love the suicide doors. You know but I
think that's the great thing about this
show is that no matter what you like
you're going to see it so I get to see my
Lincoln Continental but if you're a
mustang person you're gonna see. If
you're a Corvette person you're gonna
see. Bel Air everything under the sun
you're gonna sit here and mosquito
Mesquite motor mania.
Christian: it's a great place to bring the
kids family friendly and it is free to the
public to attend so it's a great way to
introduce kids to cars and also has not
adult you feel like a kid again because
you see your favorite cars and come
down here.
Christian: and you can go to Casablanca
resort.com to get information on
mesquite motor mania each and every
year. It's a great event and it really kicks
off all the car shows in the western
region and we're happy to have that
honor here in Mesquite Nevada.
Ria: what's up honey you look confused?
Chad: I'm trying to figure this out Ria
what's wrong with this picture?
Ria: oh OK so how do you shut the hood
with that thing up there?
Chad: exactly something doesn't add up
but it's a pretty car.
Ria: its beautiful.
Chad: I was attracted to it because it is a
1960 Edsel they only made them for four
years 57 58 59 and 60.
Ria: did you own one?
Chad: no that's one that I didn't own.
Ria: yeah one out of 100.
Chad: exactly anyway we are going to
leave the car show right now with all the
stuff we've done and head off to our
work to adventure for at your leisure so
check this out.
Ray: Ticaboo management owner of
Ticaboo lodge just took over the
contractual obligation's at Hite Marina
down here on North Lake Powell. This is
a real big day because we are willing to
take adventure to a new height this is it.
This is where it's going to really put us
on a map with a lot of the adventure
tours we're going to do in the ticket
booth area but now we can expand it
over here in San Juan County and take
advantage to a lot of this. Stuff here in
Glen Canyon. It's always been a water
based business and a lot of people of
come to me and said how are you gonna
make this work there's no water there in
height but where land based business our
focal point is land based business
specially with the overwhelming ATV
market a lot of those trails within Glen
Canyon are going to open up and going
into the Orange Cliff area and muley
point these are areas that are just
phenomenal beauty and very little seen
by the public. So now we can offer with
rentals and or guided tours away for
people to get out and experience that
part of the park. So the height adventure
center and outfitter store here we're
going to be offering ATV rentals kayak
rentals mountain bike rentals and then
will also do guided tours on ATVs jeep
tours in the future. Will be catering to
the mountain bike tour groups and also
the Haydule trail which comes to Hite. it
started at arches national park in Moab
and the terminus is at Green Canyon. It's
an 800+ mile hiking trail and it comes
right through Heights it will be catering
to that crowd as well.
Maggie: I am the manager for the Hite
adventure center in Utah. It will be a
really exciting and fun experience we're
just thrilled to be there. It is an
incredible area it's a hidden gem I mean
it is just a phenomenal place to be and to
live a mean we consider ourselves very
lucky
A lot of really exciting to do of course
fishing kayaking and a lot of hiking and
trail running. I mean just an abundance
of trails there's Glen Canyon recreational
area there's just no end to the activities
that we can do while we're there.
Ray: Hite is named after Cass Hite Who
was an explorer and a Wester and a gold
seeker. Cast height was a very
adventurous guys are ready to take the
lead off of him. He came here full of
adventure searching silver and gold. He
did find gold here that was in the
sandbars of the Colorado River. He
never made a profit out of it. It's been
said that his biggest income source was
finding investors rather than gold. But he
made enough to pay the wages and it
was a long story pass he had a ranch
here and Ticaboo Canyon. He's
underwater now when they flooded the
lake so he was an adventurous soul if
you ever read the biography about him
you know why were very interest did in
having this as a part of our lives we're
going to fall on his footsteps and we're
going to bring adventure to a new height.
Sam: hey guys we are here at Hall labs
they've been working around the clock
to bring you some cool new inventions. I
am Sam the gadget girl and today were
going to look at something that would
really help your life. You know when
you just get so much stuff all over your
garage floor and your car can't even live
there anymore. Well garage smart is the
thing for you it's a pulley system or a
winch system that you hang in your
garage. The kit comes with everything
you need and I can lift up to 400 pounds
and it just stores it right above your car
in the garage. Not only is it a winch
system to hold some of your stuff up it
can also help you with some difficult
tasks. So I drive a jeep wrangler and
every time I want to take the top off I
have to call over three or four girlfriends
and it is so hard. With the system I could
literally hook it up by myself and you
just control it through the app like this.
That is so incredible. This is the kid here
and it comes with absolutely everything
you need and this is like even totally
Sam proof. I could put this together all
by myself all you need is a drill and a
ladder and each motor can hold 100
pounds is self so super nifty. On the
track we even have these little covers
you can put them back on and cover the
wires everything is so clean. We were
just looking at the bike kit. And this is
what you'd hang your bikes on so what
do you think would happen if we put a
little baby kids bike on here and a big
heavy bike on that side. Well garage
smart thought that through for you and
on the end here you just turn this and it
would level it out for you. So no matter
what you're looking to hang up in your
garage weather like me it will be your
jeep top to lift right off or you're out
door gear like paddle boards and these
your lawnmowers if you have a
snowblower and you want to get that up
off the ground you could do that and
these would be great at my house to bins
for whatever kind of storage and a bike
rack. Look how many bikes you can fit
on this thing so everything that you
would want to hang up they've thought
about here at Garage smart. They have
fans lights and Alexa you can hook up.
Say Alexa lower my jeep top. They have
lasers so when you're driving in your
garage and your uncle I don't know if
I'm quite ready to park as soon as those
lasers hit knuckle you know it's time to
stop. Keep an eye out on their website
garage smart.com for when all
these New things drop and go fill out an
order for one of these today. I am Sam
the gadget girl and thank you for
watching at your leisure will be back.
Ria: hey Chad. I can guarantee you've
never owned one of these before.
Chad: granted you win this is one model
I've never had. Welcome back to at your
leisure we're down here at motor mania
in Mesquite Nevada and we're taking a
look at this most unusual vehicle I don't
even recognize the brand. I do know the
model though. It is the Woody but it
doesn't look like a Ford or anything I've
ever seen before.
Ria: seriously this is Jeff the guy that
built this thing so tell us about your
Woody.
Jeff: it's on a mustang suspension
homemade frame the bodies home made
everything the woods made from Home
Depot.
Ria: no?
Chad: this is the limited, this is not the
Eddie Bauer edition this is the home
depot edition.
Ria: so how long did it take you to make
it?
Jeff: I've been on it for two years.
Ria: is that right can you actually drive it
I mean this is like in those taillights
work look at those taillights.
Jeff: the tail lights work the light upfront
works the boom works.
Chad: so what did you build it on?I
mean obviously it doesn't have wooden
axles it's not a 1904 Flintstone.
Jeff: it's on a mustang suspension
Chad: it's on a mustang suspension
what's the power to it?
Jeff: It's powered with a 2300 Pinto
motor.
Chad: with probably a light is the body
is works?
Jeff: yeah.
Ria: you can wrap this up to 40, 45?
Jeff: something like that.
Ria: awesome
Jeff: I could go faster if I pushed it.
Ria: I love it are you building another
one?
Jeff: I've got another one I'm working on
Ria: amazing!
Chad: so when the promoters tell you
that they have a little bit of everything
down here there right let's check out
some of the other things you'll see down
here at Autre mania.
Chad: OK we been through three of the
four parking lots they have for the show
I have yet to find one of the 60+ cars I've
owned
Ria: I know how is that?
Chad: we do have one lot to go but I'm
ready to add one to the list.
Ria: this beautiful little camper.
Chad: yeah Brett Paris would be so
jealous of this thing.
Ria: he'd love it
Chad: OK this is a 1969 ultra van. It's
rear wheel drive air cooled Corvair
powered air suspension only 375 of them
ever built.
Ria: and he's got one of them
Chad: Yep he's got one of them and it is
a beaut.
Ria: it is and he takes this thing
everywhere he camps with it he does
everything with it.
Chad: this should be the new at your
leisure mobile.
Ria: I know I think this should be our
new where to.
Chad: but it really is time for us to go to
our along the way.
Cory: since I was about 16 years old I've
been flying airplanes I've been called a
flying cowboy since I was young but the
flooring Cowboys organization is a
brotherhood. I think we're about six or
so years old we received a letter from
this young lady whose husband is a real
fan of our fly with me Friday series. It's
a web series I started last year where
we're trying to introduce people to
aviation. So what I do is I find people
who've never been up in a smaller plane
before and give them a ride.
Aubrey: I got the idea to write in to the
flying Cowboys from conversations with
Kevin. He's talked and showed me all of
Corey's videos and he particularly pays
attention to the fly with me Fridays and
he's like one day Arbery one day I'm
going to be there.
Cory: she sent us a letter just saying hey
my husband is such a big fan but he's
also a really great husband a very good
provider. Oh by the way it's also our
20th anniversary. And also it's his
birthday this week as well so it's like
triple Whamie. So it's really kind of a
fun surprise he's going to come he has
no idea around a blind corner we've got
the family got the airplane and they're
about to arrive. Are you guys getting
excited? It's on like donkey Kong
Woman: heck yes.
Kevin: I see ghost I see cameras.
Cory: happy anniversary buddy put it in
park I'm here with Kevin and Aubrey
hey buddy it's nice to meet you I'm
Corey.
Kevin: it's nice to meet you too
Cory: so did you have any idea?
Kevin: she did good. She did good she
did good. I said if you go to airport to
you I know what you're doing.
Cory: we didn't do that ha ha. It's a bush
plane right we can't do it at the airport
we've got to do it somewhere else.
Kevin: when I saw the emblem through
the trees I just said there's ghost.
Kevin: oh Aubrey's just been giggling
for weeks now she just. She had
something cooked a big Draco build kept
popping up in my Facebook feed and I
finally washed it and it just led into
Corey it led into Trent Palmer and yeah
I'm just I'm excited we want to get our
own plane ready to do this. First time
been in big place but not this so this is
exciting.
Airplane motor sounds
Woman: oh my gosh.
Kevin: it was wonderful. Smooth Cory
explained everything as we took off he
took me up around the mountains a little
bit it was just everybody needs one I'm
telling you I can't express how fun that
was.
Cory: it was fantastic had a great time
the most important thing is we were safe.
Crowd: happy anniversary Kevin and
Aubrey
Chad: welcome back to at your leisure

free soft drink. And we're seeing some
people get as much of 16 extra miles per
tank of gas.
Ria: Holy smokes that's amazing
Mark: so for the price it's cheap.
Chad: with all that in mind let's go right
to our sticker winner. Sorry this week
you're not going to get that extra
hundred dollars but try again you might
be in the next batch let's check out our
sticker winner.
Chad: well we found something that
accomplishes a whole bunch all in one
stop we found a real vintage car so it
might be in the collection.
Ria: 1962 Chevy nova station wagon and
it is a beaut I can't believe cancel letting
me touch it. Kent said I could touch it
Chad: OK now to keep this legal let's
look down here on the bottom what are
we got? There's your license number so
your job is when you see this on TV
you've got to call us to win.
Kent : okey-dokey
Ria: it's so cool that you have watched
us and you have a sticker on this
beautiful beast.
Chad: all right you'll have to stay tune to
find out in future episodes if Kent
actually calls us and when he sees this
on TV but that being given it's time for
us to jump from here to a look at next
weeks show.
and second then we're off to the state
capital for the firs Chad: think about it
countries first ever outdoor recreation
event it's a chance for Utah to show off
it's outdoor stuff. Then team a YL is
heading to desert links with eagles
landing in support of veterans. Finally
re-stain escapes all the snow with a
secluded but beautiful hike along the
Santa Clara river. In Washington County.
Ria: look at that beauty Chad.
Chad: well next weeks show looks great
but it doesn't look as great is this Buick
skylark.
Ria: 1967 Buick skylark. Here let me
help you.
Chad: Ria know he's going to have to
wipe your fingerprints off of the car.
Ria: he's going to make me pay because
I put my palm print on the back of his
car. Ha ha.
Chad: anyway we've had a great show
for the day out at your leisure remember
motor mania goes on every single year
in January so if you've got a classic or a
hot rod or you just love them make your
way down here to catch the show.
Ria: oh it was just so much fun today.
Chad: And remember there is the
adventure around every bend
Ria: you've got to jump in your hot rod
and create your own adventure
Both: at your leisure.
