The Sun is the star of the Solar System. In the astronomical classification, it is

a yellow dwarf star. The Sun is part of the galaxy called

the Milky Way and is about +/- 26 100 light years from the galactic center,

in the arm of Orion. The Sun orbits around of the galactic center in 225 to 250 million

years. The Sun alone about 99.854% of the mass of the Solar System

thus constituted, Jupiter representing more two-thirds of the rest.

Solar energy transmitted by radiation solar makes life on Earth possible by

supply of light energy and energy thermal, allowing the presence of water

in the liquid state and photosynthesis Plant. Solar UVs contribute

natural disinfection of surfaces and to destroy some molecules

undesirable. The natural polarization of solar light (including night after

diffusion or reflection, by the Moon) or by materials such as water or cuticles

is used by many species to orientate themselves.

Solar radiation is also responsible climates and most of the phenomena

meteorological conditions observed on Earth. The word sun comes from the gallo-roman * SOLICULU,

form of popular Latin * soliculus, diminutive from Latin classical sol, solis designating the star

and divinity. It exists in the Milky Way more than 100

million stars of identical spectral type, which makes the Sun a rather ordinary star,

although it is actually brighter than 85% of the stars of the Galaxy, which are

mostly red dwarfs. The Sun is an old star of about

4.57 billion years ago, in the heart of the Sun, every second, about

627 million tons of hydrogen merge to produce about 622.7 million tons

helium. When he is 10.5 billion years old,

the Sun will expand. , first slowly over 500 million years and then faster

over 500 million additional years, to finally turn into giant

red. Then he will collapse on himself and form

a white dwarf, of comparable size to that of the Earth. The radiative surface

being extremely weak, the white dwarf will take several billion years to

cool. When the temperature will be enough low, the thermal radiation will be so low

that the white dwarf will be invisible. She will end his life in black dwarf, a corpse

heavenly so cold that it no longer emits any light.

Mercury is the closest planet to Sun and the least massive of the Solar System.

It is visible to the naked eye from the Earth, however, his observation is difficult

by its elongation always lower than 28.3 ° which drowns it most often in brilliance

of the Sun. Mercury has the particularity of being in resonance

3: 2 on its orbit, its period of revolution (~ 88 days) worth exactly 1.5 times its

rotation period (~ 59 days), and therefore half a solar day (~ 176 days).

Mercury is a telluric planet, as so are Venus, Earth and Mars.

It is almost three times smaller and almost twenty times less massive than the Earth.

The Messenger probe, after three 2008-2009, went into orbit around

Mercury in March 2011 and started a study particular of its topography, its

geological history, its magnetic field and its exosphere. The planet Mercury must

his name to the god Mercury of trade and travels, also messenger of the other gods

in Roman mythology. The planet has been named so by the Romans because of

of the speed at which she was moving. Mercury also left his name to the third

day of the week, wednesday. Transit of Mercury can occur in May or November

when Mercury is between Earth and the sun.

Mercury transits seen from Earth are much more common than those of

Venus, with a frequency of about 13 or 14 by century, because of the proximity

from the planet to the sun.

Mercury is a very hot planet. The average surface temperature is 179

° C. The planet looks great in appearance

to the Moon, presenting a priori no sign of internal activity. These craters are

very old and tell the story of the formation of the solar system. The most remarkable

of these craters is the Caloris Basin, a meteoritic impact with a diameter of about

1,300 km, which was formed after the fall of a asteroid of a size around 150

km; there are nearly 3.85 billion years.

Mercury is known since men are interested in the night sky; the first civilization

to have left written traces is the Sumerian civilization (3rd millennium

BC. BC).

Venus is one of the four terrestrial planets of the Solar System. She is the second

planet in order of distance to the Sun, and the sixth by mass or decreasing size.

The planet Venus was named after the name of the Venus goddess of Roman mythology.

The distance from Venus to the Sun is +/- 0.7 AU, with an orbital period of 224.7

days. It has a very weak magnetic field

and has no natural satellite. She and Uranus are the only two planets in the system

solar whose rotation is retrograde. She is the only one with a rotation period

(243 days) greater than its period of revolution. Venus is almost as big

that Earth - its diameter represents 95% of that of our planet.

Its surface is concealed under thick layers of highly reflective clouds.

Its cloudy opaque layers droplets of sulfur dioxide and acid

sulfuric surmounted by a mist of crystals of water ice that gives the planet its

milky appearance when viewed from space. With a super-rotation in the

retrograde sense in four terrestrial days, which corresponds to a linear velocity

at the top of the clouds about 100 m / s (360 km / h) from the ground. When Venus is

visible, she always appears first in the evening sky and disappears the last

in the morning sky. This is the star brighter from the sky, after the Sun and

the moon. This particularity made it useful to the shepherds, because they could orient themselves

seeing her: in the evening, she is always in the west direction; in the morning, always

to the east. Another hypothesis is that the expression "Star of the Shepherd" comes

rather the affection of the shepherds for this by dint of finding him every morning

or every night. Venus is often described as a "sister

"twin" of the Earth because of its characteristics overall very close to those of our

planet. Nevertheless, Venus is particularly the hottest planet in the Solar System.

It remains on Venus a residual volcanism, sometimes leading to lava

ground fusion. By the way, the surface of Venus looks young, displaying less than a billion

of years due to active volcanism relatively recent. Yet she and the Earth were born

at about the same time, there are 4.6 billion years ago, in the same cloud of gas and

dust. The Earth was formed 4.54 billion ago

about years ago and life appeared there less than a billion years later1.

The planet is home to millions of species alive, including humans.

The proliferation of organisms as well as the formation of an ozone layer that, associated

Earth's magnetic field, blocks a part of solar radiation, allowing

so life on Earth. Physical properties of the Earth, as well as its geological history

and its orbit, have allowed life to subsist. Earth should be able to sustain life

(as we know it now) for at least 500 million years.

Currently, the Earth orbits around the Sun in 365,256 363 days.

The only known natural satellite of the Earth is the moon that began to orbit it there

is 4.5 billion years old. This causes the tides, stabilizes the axial inclination

and slowly slows down the Earth's rotation. The Moon could have had an influence in

the development of life by regulating the climate of the Earth. The Earth has the peculiarity,

from the point of view of the human being, to be the only known place in the universe to shelter

life as we know it, as the fauna and the flora.

The development of photosynthesis, active since well before 3 to 3.5 billion years ago

before the present, allowed life to flourish directly the energy of the Sun. The surface

outer Earth is divided into several rigid segments, or tectonic plates,

there are seven main plates, which are slowly move on the surface on

durations of several million years. The Earth provides resources that are exploitable

by humans for various uses. Some are not renewable, as

fossil fuels and projections indicate that the world's population will reach

9.7 billion people in 2050. Three million of human beings die every year at

cause of air pollution, a new plastic continent appeared in our

oceans, generating migrations of some species, or even their extinction if they do not

can adapt to their new environment biophysics, which must be increasingly restricted

through deforestation and melting glaciers. This is the reality, not only the Earth

is round but pollution is approaching with prematurity towards our extinction.

For all that, the planet will survive us try to take care of it. It's our

House. When people see the earth from space,

it's easier for them to make the connection with their home common.

From above, there is no color, no religion, borders, sexuality.

There is only this precious little blue dot on which we live.

That's why I make videos, for to assemble, to challenge people, to awaken

consciences. Today and more than before, the weapon

against fossil energies it's energy solar.

Renewable energies are less in less expensive and we have the power

to choose our energies and even in our owner.

The climate is out of whack and brings with it epidemics, natural disasters,

extinctions. 50% of animal species have disappeared in the space of 40 years.

The land has lost more than 90% of its fish and we lost 30% of the oxygen that

we breathe. Every second that elapses we lose

the equivalent of two forest football stadiums. In the same second 206 kg of plastics

end up in the oceans. The influx of migrants and refugees seeking

asylum in Europe today is mainly caused by civil wars and collapse

States in the Middle East, but the role of the climate, although impossible to quantify,

is more than likely. These are some 86 million people who

could be forced to leave their living place in Africa due to the warming

climate. It is urgent to act now.

Like the other planets of the Solar System, Mars would have formed about 4.6

billions of years by gravitational accretion. Mars is a telluric planet, about

ten times less massive than Earth but ten times more massive than the moon. The biggest

mountain of the Solar System, Olympus Mons is on Mars.

The planet today has lost almost all of its internal geological activity,

The rotation period of Mars is the same order than that of the Earth.

Mars can be observed with the naked eye, with a much lower brightness than that

Venus but who can, during oppositions close together, exceed the maximum brightness of

Jupiter, Mars is the subject of exploration programs

more ambitious than for any other object of the Solar System: of all the stars that

we know, it is indeed the one who presents the environment with the most

similarities with that of our planet. This intensive exploration has brought us

a much better understanding of history Martian geological, revealing in particular

the existence of a remote era - the Noachian - where surface conditions

had to be quite similar to those of the Earth at the same time.

Mars has two small natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos.

The atmosphere of Mars being moreover more than 150 times less dense than ours,

and therefore producing only one effect very limited greenhouse effect, this low radiation

solar explains that the average temperature on Mars is about -65 ° C. Gravity

y is one third of that of the Earth, twice that of the Moon, while the

duration of the Martian solar day, called ground, exceeds that of the Earth day by a little less

40 minutes. At the speed of light, 4 minutes and 16 seconds separate us from

the Earth, 70 million km. Earth takes a year to go around the Sun and

March, 1.9 years. Typically, a window of shooting opens every 26 months. A rapprochement

still a little more tightened is expected the August 28, 2287, with a distance of 55,688

millions of kilometers. Currently, a trip to Mars, in favor

a reduced approximation of the two planets, takes about 260 days. With a ship

more powerful than those of today, the theft could be divided by two. And in a

future not very far, photonic propulsion for example, or another developing technology

could we put March to a few days only.

On July 25, 2018, the Mars space probe Express conducted by the European Space Agency

detects at the level of the southern polar cap the presence of an underground lake of liquid water

20 km wide, 1.5 km below the surface Of March.

The red color is associated with Mars. We also associates violence, anger,

war: all the usual attributes of the god Mars.

You will find two suggestions of my achievements who are talking to you about this planet in the tab

just at the top right of this video! Just the !

I take this opportunity to emphasize that Mars has me always fascinated, being born a March 1 I

long believed being a child that the stork had brought me to Earth since

the ! This year I celebrate my 30th spring so have a thought for me!

I'm doing everything to upload a video per week, usually on Saturdays at 18:00.

It's not so obvious because I work alone, my videos ask me a lot of

time and it's not my main activity. I realize these episodes with passion and

pleasure and I put a point of honor to this videos are concise, caring

and with a touch of humor. Nevertheless, being passionate about this chain

and having a ton of ideas of topics to develop, the ideal would be that the tips collected by

your support can allow me to equip myself with the best material to improve

the quality and the frequency of the videos. Every support (from 1 € / month) will allow me

to continue "The videos of Nicolas EEM" with you! And to be completely sincere,

I confess that I would dream to consecrate all my time at the chain because I have a

tons of ideas, topics, reports, social experiences etc ... So go

to visit Tipeee! Speaking of that, in my real work,

I met Ludo! A generous person and strongly sympathetic who realizes henceforth

most of my sounds! You can consult all his social links in the description

to discover them and why not, buy her works !

I take advantage of our long trip to Vesta to thank you for your loyalty, you

more and more people subscribe the chain. At the moment I realize this

video, you are soon 6000 people to follow me! It's pretty crazy and it's

especially a nice reward for the work that I devote to it.

At first I did not think of becoming a videographer, my achievements were a patchwork of

delirium of any kind with achievements pretty primitive ...

By the way, to say the truth, a little sorting was needed! For a more serious interface,

more videos are no longer listed on the chain. You can nevertheless

consult in the playlist "The videos of Nicolas Eem - All Watching ".

Two new playlists have been added on the interface of the chain! For subscribers

and newcomers! So the saga "Krotifluck - SAGA" (Episode 4 in progress

realization) is distinct from the others playlist since it's a fiction like

specified in the titles. I answer as well to many comments ...

You will find a second news playlist called "We and the extraterrestrials",

successful videos of my achievement that have as a common subject, the search for life

outside our system, various theories, scientific advances ... I hope that

my recent changes in the presentation and organization of the chain, will allow you

to enjoy with more comfort and seriousness of my work, done for you.

I subtitle all my videos so they are also accessible for the hearing impaired

and accessible in all languages. If you detect any improvements whatsoever

to realize I am very responsive and reachable from my Facebook page, so why not,

for your video topic ideas! I finish this short parenthesis by specifying

that to contact me for professional purposes, you will find my email address in the tab

about the channel in the information part.

The huge asteroid Vesta is the second largest celestial object of the asteroid belt.

So big, to tell the truth, that many people see it more as a planet

as a mere rock mass. It's not not a coincidence that he is often perceived as

a planet. Because of two huge impacts that almost burst it, Vesta would

substantially spherical. But it's not everything: the "entrails" of the asteroid

are different from those of others: it is consisting of a core, a coat and a

crust. Exactly like the Earth, Mars and Venus.

If Jupiter had not formed and that his immense force of gravity had not

driven the asteroid belt into permanent crumbling, Vesta would likely

could develop and become a planet in its own right. But Jupiter has arrived,

and Vesta froze to a sort of stadium embryonic "planet seed". he

is a remnant of the beginnings of the system solar and a target for scientists

eager to learn more about training of our planetary neighborhood.

Until recently, we did not know much of Vesta, except that he was tall,

seemed to have lost a piece of his pole south and had donated fragments to our

good old planet Earth (about a sixth meteorites that fell on Earth are

crumbs of the asteroid). It was not until 2011 that complete images

of the protoplanet began to us to achieve (even the best images offered

by the Hubble Space Telescope were as a collection of pixelated images).

That's when the intrepid probe Space Dawn, in charge of exploring two of

worlds of the asteroid belt, leaning over Vesta. Dawn has passed more than one

year to gravitate around this protoplanet 525 kilometers wide. The probe has established

a map of Vesta's surface, measured his gravity field and captured images

before you go to conquer from his next destination.

As soon as the space probe arrives on Vesta, photos were transmitted to the Earth,

which made the scientists perplexed. All along the equator of Vesta stood

huge hollows of a size comparable to that Grand Canyon. It looked like the body

rocky had been caught between two hands, one on its north pole, the other on

south, and had been compressed between the two palms. The team in charge of Dawn will learn

later that a powerful impact had sounded on Vesta, thus causing its deformation.

The asteroid now bears the scars along its equator.

This impact, which occurred more a billion years ago, was the second

and last cataclysmic collision on the South Pole of Vesta. The first, occurred

about two billion years ago, fashioned the Veneneia crater which measures

almost 400 kilometers long. The second erased this damaged crater in

covering it with a second called crater Rheasilvia, 500 kilometers wide.

Once the dust of the collisions has been deposited, the south pole of Vesta, shattered,

has turned into a gigantic mountain. With a width of 180 kilometers and a

25 kilometers from the base of the crater, this "vestal summit" is colossal.

The way Vesta survived such a violence remains a mystery. The scars

left by the impacts are fractures equatorials of Vesta to fallen fragments

in the form of meteorites on Earth. Smaller and less intrusive impacts

have given birth to scars on much of the surface of Vesta,

characterized by incredible diversity in terms of hues and textures. Tasks

of a black coal that rubs areas brilliant white intrigued scientists

: how could the asteroid be painted nuances as varied? How is this

dark and mysterious texture did she found on this colorful asteroid

clear? It turns out that she would have been left

by other asteroids, asteroids dark known as carbonaceous chondrites.

Scientists have solved this riddle recently by analyzing the minerals present

in the dark "splashes" (a part of this work is to generate

images like the one above, where each color corresponds to different compositions

chemical).

The surface of Vesta has other characteristics disconcerting, including small carved gullies

by the water. Vesta, was the fourth asteroid discovered,

on March 29, 1807 by Heinrich Olbers, and carries the name of the Roman goddess Vesta. After

the discovery of Vesta, no other asteroid was only discovered for 38 years.

Vesta is named after the Roman goddess Vesta, protector of homes.

The "snowman" is a set of 3 tangent craters in order of size reminding

a snowman. Being one of the biggest objects of the belt

asteroids and having an unusually large area brilliant, Vesta is the most asteroid

shiny and is sometimes visible to the eye naked on Earth from empty places

of light pollution. Vesta is constantly observable with

binoculars. Vesta's position brings him episodically to be brighter than Uranus. Next

oppositions passing under magnitude 6 will have place in August 2022.

The asteroid CERES will be addressed in a next video!

Hygiea, the fourth largest asteroid of the solar system in volume and mass,

the latter being estimated at around 2.9% of the total. Mass in the asteroid belt

. It is also the largest of the asteroids type C with compound surfaces in

much of carbon. 10 Hygiea has been discovered by Annibale de Gasparis in Naples

April 12, 1849. He was named Igea Borbonica ("Bourbon Hygieia") by the director of

the observatory of Naples in honor of the royal family of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies,

where was the city of Naples at the time. Even though Hygiea is relatively large, it

is also very dark seen from the Earth because of its dark surface and its distance

above the Sun average. At best, Hygiea reaches a magnitude of

+10.2 in opposition, which corresponds to at least four orders of magnitude less

than what Vesta gets and are never from a similar position. Nevertheless, we can

observe Hygiea with small telescopes and medium size, as well as with binoculars.

x 50 during periods when the asteroid is in perihelic opposition, that is to say

closer to the sun. In general, the physical properties of Hygiea

are the least understood of the four most big objects of the asteroid belt.

The usual practice of measuring the shape and the diameter of the objects during occultations

stellar has yielded few results: at least five occasions, there was no

enough independent observers available to determine meaningful parameters.

Nevertheless, the Hubble Space Telescope observed directly Hygiea, which excluded

the possibility that the asteroid has one or several satellites over 16 kilometers

of diameter. On the sole basis of the evidence gathered

by spectral analysis, most researchers think that Hygiea's surface is composed

of a material rich in primitive carbon, even primordial, similar to those that we

commonly found in meteorites to carbonaceous chondrite.

However, the fact that several products Aqueous alteration has been detected

in the spectra of the surface of the asteroid suggests there must have been ice

of water at some point in the past of the asteroid.

Although the water ice had to melt for produce the substances observed on the surface

of the asteroid, the global primitive nature of the surface of Hygiea excludes the possibility

that the whole asteroid melted during of his training, unlike others

large bodies of the asteroid belt such as Vesta, and others.

Hygiea is the smallest of the "big four" asteroid belt objects (including

asteroids Vesta and Ceres), but it represents well over 90% of the mass

asteroids of type C that inhabit the region in the asteroid belt.

Together, this group of asteroids is called family of asteroids Hygiea, including Hygiea

is the main member. Hygiea has a much lower average density

to the average of most asteroids and, like Ceres, its density is closer

from that of Saturn's icy moons and of Jupiter that stony meteorites

or rocky planets. Unlike most other asteroids

whose rotation varies between 6 and 12 hours, It takes 27 hours and 37 minutes to Hygiea

to perform a rotation, although the meaning rotation has not been established. Due

of its long period of rotation (making impossible to observe a complete rotation

in one night) and the ambiguity of light curve data worsened by

the long rotation period, the sense of rotation of the asteroid can not be guessed

that although most investigators think that Hygiea is turning retrograde.

I am convinced that by seeing the time we still have to go to our

next destination, you find that the time scale is rather long,

another 12 minutes ... Do not forget that we Let's travel at the speed of light! However,

we travel to nearly 300,000 kilometers per second. Not so exciting?

Before the Renaissance, the light was studied but no one had tried to measure

his speed. Galileo was one of the first scientists

who first sought to measure the speed of light by placing two

people far from each other with lamps. From his experiences, he

deduce that the light had a speed finished and this speed had to be very

great. Later, Fermat had the idea to use

a mirror to try to calculate the speed light. Descartes also studied

the speed of light, believing that it was instant.

Finally Cassini and Roemer were the first to measure for the first

times the speed of light. Roemer, in studying the satellites of Jupiter, observed

an irregularity in the movement of Io, the satellite closest to the planet.

Cassini resumed this work and then announced "Light is coming from the satellites

with a delay such that it takes 10 or 11 minutes to cross an equal distance

to the radius of Earth's orbit. Did you know ? The time that the light

to arrive on Earth was calculated very early: Cassini found in 1693 a time of

7 minutes and 5s, a year later Halley gives 8 minutes 5 while Newton calculates it to

7min30. It was Delambre who gave the value the most correct with 8 min 13s.

In the singular we say a year of light or a light year and plural one writes

light years. We can also meet in the literature

the term LY for light years. Anecdote: One of Toy Story's heroes is called

buzz the lightning but his really name is Buzz light year is Buzz light year

to demonstrate that his hero is really quick !

If the year of light is often used in astronomy or to study very large

distances, there are other units of astronomical distance:

The astronomical unit (AU): this unit is defined by the average distance from the

Earth to the Sun is 149, 5 million km. This unit is still used as a measurement standard.

The parsec (PC): this is the distance at which we would observe a length of one unit

astronomical (the Earth-Sun distance) at an angle of one second. The parsec is worth

thus 3.26 years of light. Solar Radius (RO): this unit serves

especially to compare the size of the stars between them. The solar ray corresponds to

6.95.108 m, which corresponds to the radius of the Sun.

Who did not hear in the Universe (and especially the Star Wars Universe) that the pilot

emeritus Han Solo had made the Kessel raid by 12 parsecs? So, stop the mytho, I denounce

! Well, this is simply a

screenwriting error since as we have seen above, the parsec is a unit of

distance and not speed. So the famous pilot has gone through:

12 x 3.26 = 39.12 light years which does a lot but that does not reflect a

speed.

It is very difficult to imagine truly the distances in the Universe,

even through this video. Numbers become indeed fast "astronomical",

do not speak anymore, and you lose all reference. That's why it's interesting to bring back

these values to more understandable values for our poor little brain, trying

to use human scales. Let's take a good car (well comfortable

preferably) and go through the System Solar, let's say at the constant speed of

100 km / h Since the sun, we would have put, for Mercury

66 years, Venus in 123 years, the Earth 171 years, Mars en 260 ans, la Ceinture d'astéroïdes

encore devoir attendre 35 minutes…
