It's a social dance from Austria.

Believe me, they're all looking at you.

High school students here, finish their senior year with a ball call Matura ball,

and I heard the students have to learn to Waltz and practice group dances

before the actual ball because they actually have to perform in them.

The Matura ball is the introduction into ball culture

for young Austrians.

It sounds similar to the prom in the U.S.

but it is actually very different in it's celebration.

For example, the students invite their entire family

from grandparents to younger siblings.

Do you know where the term ball comes from?

It's actually from the Latin word 'ballare'

which means to dance.

Formally a ball was only for the privileged;

yet, that has changed alot.

Now a days, we can all join in.

We can all attend this glamous event.

Talking about luxury and how it came about from

privileged class, king Louis XIV, the Sun King, in 1600s

introduced the Minuet as dance style in the

ballrooms of his court.

This dance style dominated up to the 1800s.

Around that time, Waltz took over

as the most popular dance

Did you know Waltz began as folkdance

in Austria and Bavaria?

It was the first dance that a man would hold a woman

close to his body publicly.

Yes, contrary to how it is viewed today,

when it was first introduced, the Waltz was considered

quite scandalous.

Oh yeah, quite scandalous, INDEED.

I'm glad that is not the case anymore.

Now, let's talk about the musical aspect of Waltz.

Well, rhythm of a typical Waltz consists of

3/4 beat. The most famous, of course,

Austrian composer is Johann Strauss.

He came from a family of composers and musicians in Vienna.

Suprisingly, Waltz was introduced in England as German Waltz in the 1800s.

As you can see today in Austria, there are many variations

of this popular 18th century event.

Yes, there are balls ranging from the traditonal and/or

causal to the most extravagant in its elegance.

So for a traditonal ball with folk music and traditional

'Trachen' clothes you would attend the Bauernbundball.

Bauern means farmer.

Now, most people in the other parts of the world

would not think of a farmers' ball as a ball at all

with the elegant clothes and the 3/4 beat music

and the waltzing.

However, it is considered a ball nevertheless here.

Now, the Opernredoute in Graz now is that is a ball

how most people imagine how a ball should be

with all the fancy dresses and tuxedo suits.

Suprisingly, it is not just an evening of ballroom dancing.

at the Opernredoute.

No, no, there are..you are also bombarded with live

performances all throughout the evening

such as symphonic concerts, musical performances,

ballet and the performance of the debutantes and partners.

This particular performance is called 'Polonaise' dance

which opens this ball.

Afterwards, it's "Let's Waltz".

Yes, that's a very famous saying to open the actual public dancing part of the ball.

Of course, if all this is not enough ball dancing experience,

there's alway a mask ball call the Casanova in Graz

that one can attend.

Now the organizers are going to give us a little peek behind the scene.

Diane, "Could you tell us a little bit about your organization?"

Well, it is the most beautiful job in the world so far

I can say.

It is a mixture of organization

and it's also a creative part.

I'm working together with great technique teams with great artists.

We're having perfect singers, dancers, and technical teams here

they are working together on this one big project

which is called Opernredoute, and we're all just loving it.

Diane, "Can you also tell us how many guests are

...you expecting this year?"

We're expecting like always 2,500 guests

and yes it's just a few more hours until we're opening our doors.

and we're looking forward for this moment.

Diane, "Can you tell us manpower wise,

how many actual manpower were needed or required

to put this event together? A rough estimate."

Yeah, well, we do have around these days starting off from Wednesday night until today Saturday

We're always having around 350 people at same time here at the opera house

they're working at the different parts of the Opernredoute.

And the evening itself,

we do have 330 different artists

and again another 350 technicians

waiters and so on.

We're all doing the best to make our guests happy.

Diane, "That's fabulous."

Diane, "Also, talking about performers and musicians, can you give us a rough

..idea of how many artists and performers?

...just just to let our viewers know the amount of

thought that went into this and the amount of the

cultural experience that they're are to expect when it comes to the artistry?"

Well, you can expect about 330-350 different performers and different artists here.

They are singers, dancers, orchestras, bands, piano players.

We are welcoming and having to present all this different artists here.

They are the best,

and the best is what we want to show our guests.

Mr. Reinhardt, we would like to thank you for allowing our viewers a behind the scene look.

Um, can you tell us about your organization and

your role in what you are doing behind the scene?

Okay, it's nice to have you here.

I'm responsible for everything like coordinating stuff like getting people into the house.

Opernredoute is a green event and that means we take care of our waste

We have our logistics.

We keep an eye it.

We don't produce too much wastes, and that's why we got 2 prizes for that.

That's particularly your responsibility to see that the whole is as green as possible?

Right.

That's one of your tasks?

Yeah, one of your tasks.

That's the most important one for me

because it's a high level ball,

and we were the first to do this on this cultural level.

And the history, the wonderful history about

this being here in Graz,

can you tell our viewers about that interesting history?

The opera house was built in 1899,

and on the 100 birthday of the opera house in 1999

that was its first Opernredoute,

and it became just history.

We're on our 21st now, our 21st Opernredoute.

Wow

And it started very small........

yes and from the 2nd Opernredoute on,

we builded it up

and created all the different worlds. I will show you.

Are all the balls in Germany similar to the Austrian ones?

Awww, there is really not much of a ball culture in Germany.

So, I'm really enjoying this cultural treat.

So I'm glad that you told me about this wonderful Austrian experience.

So what stood out most to you?

The amount of balls available in Austria.

I learned that there are 400 or so balls in a given year.

Now, that's alot of dancing.

What stood out for you?

Well, the Opernredoute impressed me

in how they combined a high level event

with an environmental awareness by making it green.

Taxi fares in Seoul to go up on Saturday - Duration: 2:15.

Taxi fares in Seoul have been hiked starting today... for the first time in five years.

As you might expect,... it has triggered different reactions from both passengers and drivers

alike.

Lee Min-sun reports.

The new fares took effect on Saturday at 4 AM.

The base fare went up almost 27 percent to 3-thousand-800 won, or about 3 U.S. dollars

and forty cents.

It's the first increase since October 2013.

People in Korea have gotten used to taxis being relatively cheap over the years, so

even though drivers have promised better service, some people are unhappy about the higher fares.

"As a student, this is a huge increase.

It would be goof if they improved their service, but there's no one else in the car with us,

so it's hard to make sure that happens."

"It's about time that taxi fares go up, but it seems rather sudden.

I'll take public transportation more.

They've always talked about improving their service, but it's never really happened."

It might seem logical to expect better service if you're paying more, but drivers say even

with the increase... the fares aren't very high.

"It's still nothing compared to other countries.

If passengers want better service, then they should pay more.

Regular taxi drivers will do just as they've always done and keep refusing passengers."

"When taxi fares go up, we lose passengers for a while.

But I will always try to provide better service, not just because the fare has risen."

The Seoul Private Taxi Association has promised better service in exchange for the higher

pay, like keeping their cars cleaner, drivers not smoking in the car and putting more taxis

on the streets at night.

But many people aren't convinced they will.

The city government says it will check up on their service and has already taken various

measures.

Recently it penalized 22 taxi companies caught refusing passengers.

It also plans to introduce taxis that are for women only.

Meanwhile the province of Gyeonggi-do, which surrounds the capital, is also looking at

increasing its base fare for the first time in five years.

Where to Go: A Guided Tour for 2019 Lobby Day - Duration: 9:21.

Hello! I'm Sarah and I'm an outreach specialist with MNCDHH, working towards Lobby Day!

Hmm, where are we? We are in front of the SOB, also known as the State Office Building.

We will have Lobby Day here at the Capitol but we encourage the community to come and enter here at the SOB.

If you ride Metro Mobility (MM), there is a cul de sac where you can be dropped off. Take a look!

Once you get dropped off there, you will walk this short pathway to these doors.

Here you will see volunteers and SSPs waiting to help guide you! So come on in!

Now we have entered the State Office Building (SOB). You will walk straight ahead for a bit.

You will see stairs to go down to the tunnel (which leads to the Capitol). There are also elevators to go down if needed.

Here are the elevators....

For the stairs, keep walking down the hallway.

Again, we will have volunteers and SSPs to help guide you.

This is the stairway that you want that will lead you to the tunnel that leads to the Capitol.

Now, before we go down, you can see we are on the 1st floor. We want to go down to level G (Ground).

You will notice that when you walk through to the Capitol, G level is now labeled B (Basement). Ok, let's go!

Now you will see the sign for G level!

Don't keep going down! Go through this doorway to reach the tunnel.

We are now entering the tunnel that leads to the Capitol. You can see the sign above me.

Please don't worry about being lost or confused. We will have plenty of volunteers and SSPs placed along the way.

Once in this tunnel, you will have no choice but to keep walking forward.

See how far you'll get to walk!

It's good exercise, especially in the winter!

See, you really can't be lost once you come here - you just keep going straight.

Remember, if you have a disability or if going up stairs is hard, there are elevators nearby. See?

Remember, if you wait until 1 pm to arrive, it will be full and you will be trying to see past crowds of people!

Is Blissey STILL the Best Gym Defender in Pokemon GO? - Duration: 10:12.

It's been so long since the CP rework, which gave both Chansey and Blissey the biggest

nerf hammer any Pokemon received.

Seriously, both of these Pokemon used to be the undisputed queens of gym defense, but

their falling off completely changed the gym meta-game.

Or so I thought.

Lately, I've noticed a resurgence of Blisseys and Chanseys defending gyms, and I don't

think it's related to the Valentine's Day event.

Call me crazy, but it seems like more people are starting to place these defenders back

into their gyms.

But is this because it is a force of habit from before the rework,

Or did the rework not really nerf them much at all?

What's up everyone.

It's me, its Count, and in today's video, I'm going to be exploring whether or not

Blisseys and Chanseys are still Top Tier Gym Defenders even after the CP rework.

And I really think this is some relevant information because as of right now, Chansey have an increased

spawn and if you want a really great Chansey, now is the time to get them.

And I really think the information in this video is going to be really helpful for you.

Let's get right into it.

I really think with the information that I am going to be presenting in this video, you

will be shocked.

Before we dive in to whether or not Blissey and Chansey are still top tier Gym Defenders,

let's first rewind the clock and go back to the CP rework.

The CP rework happened just on the precipice of PvP's launch, and the aim of this rework

was to balance certain Pokemon who had insane amounts of health and defense.

Attack stats were mostly untouched, but the amount of health and defense that every Pokemon

had was altered significantly.

For the most part, this change affected mostly Legendaries, as Legendaries had a tendency

to have excessively high base stats, but there were three notable non-Legendaries that got

a significant nerf from this change, and they just so have happened to be three top Gym

Defenders at that time: Chansey, Blissey, and Snorlax.

While Snorlax isn't the focal point of this video, it wasn't ever any better than both

Chansey and Blissey as a defender regardless of the CP rework.

So we won't say anything about him now.

But for both Chansey and Blissey, their insanely high amounts of health and defense was their

key defining factor as Gym Defenders.

Most, if not all, Gym Attackers would have an incredibly difficult time knocking out

these Pokemon in a timely manner, and most players would outright ignore any Gym that

had a combination of these two.

However, after the CP rework, Both of these Pokemon lost what made them

uniquely powerful as Gym Defenders, and defeating them in Gym Battles within a timely manner

was now feasible.

In terms of the numbers, Chansey lost a base 13 Stamina and 48 Defense, resulting in an

overall CP loss of 214 when completely maxed out.

Blissey was hit even harder with a loss of 14 Stamina and 60 Defense, which gave a reduction

of 462 max CP.

Essentially, what this did is drop them an entire tier or more if we were to compare

them to what they were before.

If we were to rank the gym defenders pre-nerf as Blissey at the top, then Chansey a half

tier below that, and then Snorlax another half tier below that, then Blissey dropped

down to Snorlax's level pre-nerf, and Chansey would be a tier below that, possibly even

more.

So now that we know to what degree these Pokemon got nerfed,

Why are they still showing up in Gyms?

If we want to figure out why Blisseys and Chanseys are still top tier Gym Defenders,

we need to look at their stats as a whole, and compare them to other Gym Defender candidates.

Lets take Metagross, Dragonite, and Milotic, three Pokemon which GamePress deemed the best

Gym Defenders after Blissey, and compare each of their stats up against Blissey and Chansey

pre and post nerf.

We will multiple the base Defense and base Stamina of each of these pokemon, and use

that number to rate their defensive capabilities from a raw stats point of view.

Chansey pre nerf, had 176 Defense and 500 Stamina, which multiplies to 88,000.

Blissey pre-nerf, had 229 Defense and 510 Stamina, giving us a value of 152,490.

Chansey after the nerf has 128 Defense and 487 Stamina, which multiplies to 62,336.

Blissey post-nerf has 169 Defense and 496 Stamina, which gives us a value of 83,824.

With these values alone, you can already gauge just how massive the nerf was to these Pokemon.

Now let's do the same for the three Pokemon I mentioned post-nerf.

Metagross has a base Defense of 228 and Stamina of 190, which gives us a value of 43,320.

This is already significantly lower than Blissey AND Chansey.

For Dragonite, it has a base Defense of 198 and Stamina of 209, which gives us a value

of 41,382.

Once again, still significantly lower.

And finally, let's look at Milotic which has a base Defense of 219 and Stamina of 216.

This gives us a value of 47,304.

If we look at these scores for Defense times Stamina, you can certainly observe a massive

drop off from pre to post nerf for Blissey and Chansey.

However, compared to other extremely relevant Pokemon, they still rank significantly higher.

Now do keep in mind that these values do not take into account the Attack stat, which naturally,

all of these Pokemon have a much higher base amount compared to Blissey and Chansey.

However, remember what I said earlier about the CP rework, that the stats that were heavily

affected were the Defense and Stamina stats.

For that reason, I want to take the focus away from Attack because it didn't necessarily

change, thus you could have made the same argument pre-nerf.

A concrete wall that is slightly thinner, is still a concrete wall.

Yes it may not necessary be as strong as it once was, but it would still take a lot of

effort to chisel away.

But other than the stats, there's also another reason why Blissey and Chansey are still viable,

And that is because there is a slew of very powerful complimentary Pokemon.

A strong combination of complementary defenders can be a vital component to victory.

Blissey and Chansey are both pure Normal types, which means they are always going to be vulnerable

to Fighting type powerhouses like Machamp.

What used to be the way you counter that with a defending Blissey or Chansey, is to load

them up with moves like Dazzling Gleam and Psychic, both moves which are Super Effective

against Fighting Types.

Even though you weren't dishing out one-hit knockouts, the high Stamina and Defense would

essentially offset the lower Attack.

The best way to defend was to rely on their survivability.

Knock out the Pokemon before getting knocked out themselves.

This would force players to use an exorbitant amount of Potions and Revives just to knock

out one Pokemon from a Gym.

And if the defending player is online with a full bag of Golden Razzberries in tow, then

you can forget about it.

However, with the CP Rework, this sort of strategy does not hold out as much as it used

to.

Rather than outlasting Attackers and hoping that they run out of Revives, many Attackers

now have no problem staying alive and knocking them out.

Because of the massive nerf, Blissey and Chansey now lack the survivability that allowed them

to knock out Attackers before getting knocked out themselves.

But what if they were to get help elsewhere?

Some of the latest additions from the Sinnoh Region and even the Hoenn Region have great

Type Advantages to some of Blissey and Chansey's biggest counters.

This includes Pokemon like Togekiss, Metagross, and Gardevoir.

What really allows Blisseys and Chanseys stay in gyms is the fact that they now have more

complementary Pokemon to help them out.

If they themselves cannot knock out a counter, several other Pokemon can fit that bill.

You really can't just roll up to a gym with an army of Machamps anymore.

You have to take into account many other Pokemon that counter what counter the Blissey that's

in the gym.

This alone can draw away Attackers.

So the conclusion here is that Chansey and Blissey did in-fact get a major nerf.

They are but a shadow of their former selves, but because there isn't any viable alternatives

to snatch the top spots even after the nerf, they still hold out as some of the best options

for defending your Gyms.

And yes, Chansey may no longer be top tier, but Blissey definitely still is.

Maybe in the future with more gen 4 releases, and maybe even in future generations, a contender

for the throne may appear.

But for now, it is the safest choice to throw that Blissey into a gym.
