Hello everyone. Welcome to Beaver's hobby channel.
In this video I'm going to show you how to convert Mini-Q Q2 to 94mm wheelbase
and fit a Mini-Z Nissan GT-R body on it.
To use this Nissan GT-R body the car has to have 94mm wheelbase.
What I need are new motor mount. I decided to use the MM2, which is the same as Mini-Z VE Pro and Evo.
Using it with MM/LM T-plate and I can make this car from 94mm to 102mm wheelbase.
Next is the new diff. Because this motor case has normal width so it needs a standard diff.
This is a gear diff I pulled from my Mini-Z MR03 with RM motor mount.
I also got 1mm offset narrow wheels to replace the front.
Finally I'll also use this opportunity to upgrade the main damper to oil shock.
To fit this motor mount I have to thread the wires through it but unfortunately Q2 doesn't have detachable wires like Mini-Z.
So I have to do some soldering.
First take the wires off.
Now thread them through the upper piece of the motor mount.
And re-solder them back.
The black wire has to sit at an angle like this to fit.
Next, just follow the instruction and everything should be fine.
Except this motor mount doesn't have an instruction.
I only find exploded diagram and something from Mini-Z Evo manual.
And as you can see it has quite a lot of pieces along with rolling damper.
First let's put the diff on.
This is easy and straight forward.
You can choose the ride height too and for this car I choose the lowest ride height.
Now put the motor on. Because this one uses 8T pinion, I have to use the B brackets to get the gear mesh right.
With that done I can close the motor mount and put it on T-plate.
Now I have 94mm chassis.
Next I need to install the rolling damper.
Just put it in according to exploded diagram.
And this is where I messed up. I forgot to put the main damper holder in before putting this part on the car.
Anyway, I just ran out of patience so I'll put the front mount on to see what it looks like.
It turns out great. All the wheels fit perfectly as well.
Now that I know it's working, let's do the oil shock upgrade.
Well, I have to figure out how to do it first.
OK. Now I got it.
I have to cut the main holder first
Then put it on this piece by screwing in from the bottom.
Now I can put it on the car. And put everything together to finish the build.
This rolling damper is quite tricky to build. I have to compress it a bit to screw the main damper on.
Finally I change the front wheels to 1mm offset as recommended on Kyosho website.
And here it is. Everything is done and fits perfectly.
With the MM2 motor mount and 94mm wheelbase this car is very agile and very fun to drive.
It is also very fun to work on. I have as much fun with it as my Mini-Z MR03.
Actually this car is better with narrow body 90-94mm wheelbase.
So it is 100% JDM body certified!
What it needs now is a lick of paint.
Unfortunately I still can't paint it because right now the outside looks like this.
So I'll keep playing it like this for a while until the weather clear up.
And that's it for this video.
