Hey everyone! As you know I'm crazy about any kind of automation.
and today I have something really cool to try out
a robot suitcase. The AirWheel SR-5.
It's a carry-on size suitcase, with wheels, a motor and a tracking system so it can follow you around.
Pretty cool right?
Technically a tracking system should be pretty simple
but in the real world I think it's a bit tricky to do.
You've seen my DJI spark follow me using computer vision.
And my Ninebot follow me using RF triangulation.
I'm pretty sure that's what this suitcase does but lets have a look and see.
So it comes with a pretty standard USB battery.
Should not be any issue getting on the plane with that.
And this wrist band. I guess that's what these two sensors look for.
If the left sensor gets a stronger signal, it goes left, if the right one it goes that way.
And slower or faster depending on signal strength.
I'm just guessing though.
one of the first things I notice is there's not a ton of storage space.
The motors use up almost 1/5 of the suitcase.
Still if I was on high heels I would not care
it's really tiring to push a suitcase then.
There are some cables.
Ok, I think there are two cables in here.
Two cables, one plugs in with the sensor, and the other one I think it's for the battery.
Ok, it comes with an app, let's look at that.
I can't seem to connect to the suitcase with my Doogee.
So I am going to try to use the app on my One Plus.
Oh, move forward. Okay, let's not do that.
Ok, this Bluetooth function does work. And you can set the speed from slow to fast.
Really really fast to move the suitcase, but I am not going to do that.
Because I don't have a lot of space here and I don't scratch a nice suitcase.
So on the wrist mount there is a power button and right next to it is the follow me mode.
Ok, I will stand right next to the suitcase.
Wow- that worked much better than I thought it would
I think maybe even better than the Ninebot but I'm not sure.
I'll have to compare them. I'd be really curious to learn more about how they do it.
I could totally see putting a 360 camera on this and having it follow me around at a Maker Faire
shooting video and carrying my things.
Right now I don't think the Airwheel SR5 is for sale outside of China but I'm sure that will change.
I'll put a link to the description page in the comments section so you can watch and see when it's available.
That's it for today, you're watching this video a week after my sponsors ot to see it.
If you want to see it first it's just five dollars.
If that's a bit more than you can afford, trust me I totally understand and I don't mind a bit.
