Just loosen up your life, laugh more, don't be so serious - Sadhguru about life - Duration: 11:26.

Questioner: What are the best practices for someone who is dead serious?

(Laughter) Sadhguru: Dead or serious?

(Laughter) Questioner: Well, you referred to this last

night.

Sadhguru: Yeah.

It once happened...

There was a Sufi master in Basra.

You know Basra?

Basra is a that place which is famous for pearls today

in Iraq or it's famous for bombing, whichever way.

So someone came and said, 'Please give me a teaching.'

He refused, 'No teaching.'

Then more and more important people started coming to him

and said, 'Please give us a teaching.'

He said, 'No teaching.'

Now because he refuses to teach, he became very famous.

So one day a great scholar in the area who is well-versed in all the scriptures and

everything, he came and insisted,

'You have to teach; you have something that no scholar can have.

I am beginning to realize that.

So you have to teach; you cannot keep it to yourself.'

So the Sufi master looked at him and said, 'I am not giving a teaching to you,

not because I am not willing, because you are not willing.'

The scholar said, 'What are you saying I am not willing?

I am here, I am asking you.

I am the one who is asking you and you are saying

I am not willing.'

'No, the teaching that I give, you will not be willing.'

He said, 'What is the teaching?'

'Are you willing?'

'Anything, I am willing.'

So the master went inside, brought a… a dirty looking piece of cloth

and gave it to him and said, 'Wear this as your loin cloth.

You take off all your robes and nice clothes; wear this as your loin cloth.'

The scholar looked at this dirty piece of cloth,

said, 'What this?'

'Not just that; then I will give you an empty can with a string,

wear it around your neck and I will give you a few sweets

peppermint, you go on the street to the market place.

All the young boys will look at you and tease you and throw stones at you.

Whoever throws a stone at you, take out a peppermint,

grin at them and give them a peppermint.'

The scholar said, 'This is ridiculous!

What will happen to me in this town if I do such a ridiculous thing?'

'See, I told you, you're not willing for the teaching,' (Laughs)

because the question is just this do you want a teaching that you like

or you do you want something that transforms you?

That's the question.

So now you're asking this question – 'I am dead serious'.

So the first and foremost thing is you must make yourself non-serious, which

is not possible; so the only way you can make yourself non-serious

is to be ridiculous, you know?

Can you do that?

Can you get up and do a jig right now?

Do it.

(Questioner doing the jig) (Laughter, Clapping)

No, you must do it the Indian way; the Indian jig;

no, no you must do the Indian jig.

(Questioner doing the jig) (Laughter, Clapping)

So you see you're getting little non-serious now, (Laughter)

not dead at least, still serious, not dead.

So just loosen up your life a little bit, laugh a little more,

involve yourself with people around you, do things that you think is not so important;

don't do things which are very important, do simple things.

It's very important you do simple things.

Very important things you're doing in your life,

you will become dead serious.

You know Bertrand Russell, an English man.

(Laughs) Bertrand Russell said,

'If you're beginning to think that what you're doing is very important,

you need to take a holiday.'

So holiday does not mean coming to India.

(Laughter) Holiday is every day in those 24 hours,

you must take a holiday from your seriousness, from your

Seriousness has come essentially because of your self-importance.

You hold yourself as an important person.

I want you to see you are like a speck of dust in this existence.

Tomorrow morning if you disappear, for sure in India nobody will miss you,

even Down Under they won't bother much, you know.

A handful of people, they will also forget soon enough.

Isn't it so?

Oof!

Nature does oof, you are gone and nothing will happen in this world;

everything will happen wonderfully well even if you're not there.

Every human being should be aware of this every moment of his life.

It does not matter what the whole world says about you;

it does not matter how significant a work you are doing,

you must understand that tomorrow morning the world will go on fine

without you, whoever you maybe.

Isn't it so?

If you constantly remind yourself of this, you will have no reason to be serious (Laughs),

definitely not dead.

And don't be dead now, a time will come.

This's time to be alive.

[Sadhguru] Now, life is not telling you that if you finish one thing you must do the

next thing.

Yes? you are doing it because otherwise you will

be lost if you don't do anything

you'll be completely lost, isn't it? if you don't have to do a job you'll develop

some hobby you have to do something

because without doing you're lost right now simply because you're way of being

is not established who you are

has come to you only because of your doing, isn't it?

but you tell me how did doing become possible

only because there is a being, doing has become possible, isn't it?

only because there is a being doing has become possible, isn't it so?

but where is your being it's not in your experience.

only doing is in your experience so you're in desperate action

if you want to feel like somebody, you have to act

you have to do many things No. that's not the great way to live

if I close my eyes I can keep my eyes closed till I fall dead

there's no need to open my eyes and look there's no need to do anything

you do something because the situation demands it

if the action is coming because you need it, its a desperate action, isn't it?

when you're constantly in desperate action to make yourself feel substantial you have

to act that means

all this activity is coming from a certain feeling of insufficiency, isn't it?

somewhere the way you are right now is not sufficient

you have to do something to feel little better but if you get used to that little better

state that feels insufficient then you have to do something more to feel

little better so

it is simply because of the insufficiency this insufficiency has come

simply because your whole experience of life is limited to the physical

if your experience transcends the limitations of the physical

if you sit here you are so complete there's no need to do anything

if you do something it's simply because the situation needs it

otherwise there's no need to do anything for yourself

its a good way to be, isn't it? right now humanity is in desperate action

fortunately fifty percent of the population is lazy

if only all the six billion people become very industrious

this planet will be finished in no time isn't it so?

isn't it unfortunate it's the lazy of the world who are saving the planet

the intelligent in the world should save the planet isn't it?

this planet should be well because of human intelligence

not because of their lethargy but right now it's the lazy who are saving

the planet all those who can do, they are desperately

active their activity is so destructive

but it doesn't matter they cannot stop because if they stop

they'll feel insufficient

Seeing Relationship Through the Rocks or Why are Rocks So Important to Christianity? - Duration: 12:59.

In this video, we're going to address the question, "Why have stones, rocks, and

mountains become such an important part of the Christian heritage and traditions?"

Now, this question was sent in by Abbie, off of our Facebook page.

Abbie, thank you very much for taking the time to do so.

Now, in short, I don't find rocks, mountains, or stones to be very important to the Christian

faith.

They're mentioned throughout the Bible, but they always have something else going on and

that's what we're going to talk about right now.

Here we go.

My name is Charles Yerkes and I am with simplenotshallow.com.

Where we help you keep it Simple Not Shallow.

Now, in her question, Abbie did mention a few examples that

she was curious about. For instance, Balaam and the donkey going up on the mountain to

meet the king and curse Israel.

Jesus having to be taken upon a mountainside by Satan in order to be tempted.

Moses getting the Ten Commandments on a mountainside.

Jesus later becoming called the foundation, the cornerstone.

And one that she didn't ask, that I also found very very intriguing, is David

referring to God as his rock.

What's up with all these rock motifs?

Well, you know, as I looked through these things through a relational lens of God being

a relational God; and doing some research.

I found that there's a couple basic things that the rocks or stones or mountains tend

to be.

And, as I go through and I reference different passages here answering this, please note,

that I'll list all the scripture I use in the description box below.

That way, if I'm on a role and I forget to mention a particular passage, chapter and

verse, it's listed for you so you can check all this out yourself.

But, I found basically to two or three different uses for stones, rocks, and mountains in the

Bible.

The first is they are simply the location at which something happened.

There was a lot of mountains and rocks around.

For instance, Balaam, he went with the king, the king wanted him to curse Israel, so they

had to survey the Israeli camp. So they had to get up high in order to do so.

So the mountain was simply a location.

The same with Jesus being tempted by Satan.

Satan wanted to show him all the lands that he was tempting him with. So he had to get

him up high where he could look at them all and view what the temptations were.

Just a location.

The same with Moses and Mount Sinai. It was just a location that God chose in order to

give him the Ten Commandments and the laws and the codes of living.

Now, what informs this decision of mine and how I see that, are two things; one in Exodus,

God is talking to Moses.

And he simply tells Moses very directly, "I chose this mountain, I'm coming down on this

mountain in a thick dense fog, and I'm gonna let the people hear the rumblings and our

communications.

To build their trust in you."

His choice of the mountain and how he was going to approach Moses was very relational.

It was for the relationship between Moses and the people.

He wanted their trust to always be in Moses, that Moses was bringing them what God wanted.

Now, at this point, in a couple chapters earlier, we're told that six hun dred thousand men, not counting

women and children, left Egypt, a lot of people.

So, it would make sense that if you want all the people to see this and get trusting Moses,

you have to do it where everybody can see.

Now, if you are the six hundred thousand or so, way in the back, you're not gonna see

somebody that is at eye level way up front.

So, in order for this to happen, God had to choose a

mountain so that the people way in the back could look up at the mountain and see it.

He chose a big thick fog as a presence over the top of the mountain.

Covering the mountain so the people could witness God coming down a meeting with Moses.

And then all the rumblings and then communications.

So, it was just a location that allowed all the people of Israel to witness this; to build

trust.

You know another thing that indicates to me that it was simply a location, with no meaning

whatsoever, just the location that happened to be chosen, is that after this point, Mount

Sinai is never mentioned in the Bible again, in terms of, being important for worshiping

God.

Never does it have to deal with the worshipping of God in any way after this.

In fact, while it is mentioned several more times in the Bible, every time that it is

mentioned it's always mentioned in conjunction with the covenant being given with God. Being

the place that God gave Israel the law, that's it.

It commemorates the place the time when the law was given.

It is the law, the Covenant that is important not the meeting place.

So, it's just a meeting place.

A second purpose that I see that the rocks being used

are as illustrations.

Illustrations of who God is.

For instance, David calling God his rock.

Now, what God, David was meaning when he calls God this rock.

He was referring to a craggy rocky cliff face on which was a mountain fortress.

It was the idea, that this mountain fortress

was not even approachable, much less breach able, by the enemy.

It was up and away, completely safe.

He was calling God his ultimate safety his ultimate protection.

Now, so the rock itself, the craggy cliff face, is not important as a cliff face or

as a rocky fortress.

It is only important in describing the strength and the security that God

provides to David.

Now here is something very super fascinating, so, even as David is not actually calling

God a mountain fortress, an actual physical rocky cliff mountain fortress, what if

the protections he's assigning to God are also more than merely physical.

Now here's where this gets very relational.

See, I find in Psalms 23, you know this is where David is talking

about walking through the valley of the shadow of death fearing no evil.

See, he's walking through the valley, he's not been kept away from it, he's not been

taken around it or over it.

He's not in some cosmic safe space; he's right in the middle of the valley where all the

evil is flying at him.

And yet, he says I will fear no evil because you God are with me.

He doesn't fear because he knows who is walking beside him.

He knows that the one walking beside him has his

back; something very profoundly relational.

Now, Jesus also opens us up a little bit in the book of John.

Where he says to his disciples he's talking to his disciples, he says, fellas, in this world

you're gonna have troubles.

But cheer up, I've overcome the world.

Do you hear what he's saying?

He's saying fellas, in this world, yeah you're gonna take a beating.

It's coming. But be of good cheer.

Take heart, we will overcome it together.

Wow, how much trust do you have to have in order to know a beatings coming but not having

your world rocked by it?

See what I did there?

World rocked by it… yeah.

Anyway, also I have this opened up a little bit by Paul in 2 Corinthians.

You know, Paul here is talking about how, when viewed through eternity, our life

in the eternal, after we're dead and gone, after this current life is over, that all these

light and momentary troubles we're facing are not going to be more than a faint memory, if that.

What we're going to have then far outweighs what we're going through now.

Now, what's interesting is what these little light and momentary problems of his were?

You know we get upset if we run out of food in the refrigerator or if the AC

goes off for a little bit.

But what Paul's talking about is: he was imprisoned, he was flogged severely, he met death time

and time and time again, he was whipped with a punishment called forty minus one lashes,

which is a whipping that literally takes the skin off

your back, he was beaten, and that happened five times, he was beaten with rods three

times, he was shipwrecked, he was stoned, a third use of rocks by the way not weed,

and he and he was left adrift at sea one time for a night and a day floating on the sea.

Now these are all light and momentary.

So it seems that God was protecting him, not from these physical harms not from these physical

dangers, but through them.

A very profound difference.

It seems as if David's rock is really more interested in who you are and protecting you

at that level rather than mere physical protection; which he may provide as well.

But he's more interested in the who and with establishing the relationship that allows

you to take the beating and not worry about it, to take the beating and know that it's

going to be worth it.

Because there's something more coming, very profoundly relational.

Which you know also ties very well into Jesus being the cornerstone.

You see, when Bible mentions Jesus being the cornerstone.

It's not making so much out of the rock.

The rock and the foundation, in itself, is not important to Christianity.

But, it's what those are representing, in terms of Jesus.

See, when we think of a house we know that with a foundation that is strong, the house is going

to stand up for a long time. But, if the foundation starts to crumble and becomes

weak, the walls start to crack, the doors don't open, windows will not open and sometimes

a glass will break.

So, at one point, the whole house will fall down

if the foundation is not fixed.

And so, what they're doing is, they're saying that Jesus is the foundation of a relationship

with God.

You know, as Jesus is the only one who makes that

relationship possible, he is the one and true only foundation upon which the healthy vibrant

vital relationship can be built.

Everything else is a weak relationship.

If you don't build it on Jesus, you're trying to build it on rules, regulations, traditions,

and in other words you're trying to build it on mere religion.

And you're also going to crack and eventually that's gonna leave you with a house collapsing

in on itself.

Because there's nothing there to truly support a relationship. And you'll be left without a home, with no relationship,

nothing really to believe in.

So, once again, the stone itself isn't important.

It's what the stone is illustrating.

What the concrete object is helping you understand about the abstract and relational object, Jesus

Christ.

So, Abbie, I hope that answered your question or at least gave your mind somewhere to

travel as it thinks about it.

How Do Turtles Live So Long? - Duration: 3:17.

[♪ INTRO ]

Turtles live a ridiculously long time.

The oldest known turtle—a Seychelles giant tortoise named Jonathan — is 186 years old and still kicking!

Galapagos tortoises have produced healthy, viable young past their 80th birthday.

And even smaller species can live for half a century, as long as they aren't eaten or run over first.

Scientists aren't 100% sure how these animals live so long — but a lot of it seems to

boil down to preventing wear and tear to the body.

In most species, including ours, the odds of dying go up as you get older.

That's because our bodies just kind of deteriorate over time.

Like any machine, parts slowly wear down, and that eventually leads to some kind of catastrophic failure.

But that's not always the case in turtles — in some, being old means they're less likely to croak.

And they can even still have healthy offspring.

This ability to stay alive and have healthy babies despite being old is called negligible senescence.

And though some of the details are still unclear, it seems turtles pull this off thanks to a

remarkable tolerance for oxidative stress.

That's the harm to cells that happens due to reactive oxygen species or ROS: a family

of oxygen-containing compounds that really, really like interacting with other molecules.

The accumulation of this damage, especially to neurons and immune cells, is thought to drive aging.

But reactive oxygen species aren't evil — they're produced all the time, like

in the calorie-burning process that turns food into cellular fuel.

So the key is not getting rid of ROSs, but keeping them under control.

One of the ways turtles do that is by producing less of them.

They have a slow metabolism, which means they need fewer calories than other animals of similar size.

It also helps that they're poikilothermic: their bodies can function at a wide range of temperatures.

So they're not as stressed by cold or hot temperatures as we are—and less stress means less ROS.

They also have ways to manage the ROS they do produce.

Since these compounds can damage telomeres — the protective caps of DNA that shorten

every time a cell divides — turtles produce lots of the enzyme telomerase, which helps prevent that shortening.

And that helps keep their cells healthier longer, lessening their odds of developing cancer or other diseases.

They also make lots of strong antioxidants and other proteins that fight cellular damage.

While these traits might seem like the perfect adaptations for a long and healthy life, biologists

think they arose for another reason: surviving without oxygen.

Many turtles, including those cute red-eared sliders you might have seen in pet stores,

can go weeks without breathing air — a handy trick if you want to spend the winter in an icy pond.

They have special ways of keeping important tissues alive during that time, like shutting down oxygen-hungry neural circuits.

But they also have to deal with the burst of ROS production that happens when they finally

come up for air and oxygen levels rapidly rise — which is where those antioxidants

and cell-healing proteins come into play.

So their longevity might be a happy side effect — one that some researchers are hoping to

translate into longer, perhaps even indefinite lives for people.

But... we can't really replicate all of their tricks, like becoming poikilothermic.

So while studying turtles may help us maintain fitness in later years, if you're hoping

they hold the secrets to immortality… well, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Pocophone F1 - How Is This So Affordable? Inside Secret - Duration: 3:11.

So a lot of you were asking me my opinion on this Pocophone by Xiaomi which has the

high end Snapdragon 845 chipset and just costs $299.

On paper it looks really impressive considering that it costs so low but if you dig deeper

you'll understand why it is priced the way it is priced.

Xiaomi has cut a lot of corners with this phone.

The first one is quite obvious in the construction of the phone.

The phone is made out of plastic.

It costs significantly less to produce a plastic phone than it takes to produce a metal phone

or glass phone.

The front display is an IPS LCD with a thick notch and it has slight bezels on the sides.

It does have a corning gorilla glass but they haven't mentioned which glass it is...whether

a gorilla glass 5 or 4, probably it's 4 or lower since they haven'y mentioned it.

It also doesn't have an oleophobic coating, so the phone picks up grease easily on the

front and back, whether you're browsing and eating a sandwich, or simply touching the

phone with clean fingers.

The call quality isn't good either, indicating that the speaker also wasn't a priority.

But the biggest reason this phone is so affordable is that Xiaomi is making money off of this

phone through advertising.

I mean this device comes with full of bloatware..There are apps like UC Browser, Microsoft apps,

Amazon app, RAM cleaning apps etc, I mean these companies pay Xiaomi to pre-install

their apps on their phone and that's one of the main reason Xiaomi is able to keep the

prices low even with a flagship SoC.

Xiaomi is also not marketing this phone, they're only reliant on the word of mouth promotions

just like how OnePlus started a few years ago.

Companies like Samsung and Apple spend billions on marketing each year and that's one of the

main reasons their devices are so expensive because they include the marketing budget

in the final retail cost of the handset.

Xiaomi not marketing the phone helps them price this phone very aggressively.

So yeah, all of that helps cut costs one way or another.

So that said, do companies like Samsung should be worried?

Absolutely not...Just because we have Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas doesn't mean Bentley

and Rolls Royce will go bankrupt.

The same with phones, people who buy a $1000 phone won't even look at a $300 one.

This is targeted towards people who can't or don't want to spend so much money on a

phone.

People who want a true flagship from android are willing to spend over 800 bucks anyway.

But for what it is, the POCO cuts the right corners to get it to where it needs to be

price wise.

We just have to see where it goes.

Gini Wijnaldum's magic moment sums up Why he's become so important to Liverpool | LFC News - Duration: 2:14.

The Dutchman doesn't hog the headlines, but his presence in Jurgen Klopp's midfield is

a fully deserved one

He's not Naby Keita, whose flashes of skill and poise have lit up social media in his

previous two matches in a Liverpool shirt,

and he doesn't have the gravitas of £43m summer signing Fabinho, who probably rates

higher on football video games.

But against Brighton on Saturday, Wijnaldum had his social media moment.

The Dutchman's expert control and keep-ups as he ran through the middle of the visitors'

midfield was quickly captured, tweeted, giffed and everything else,

and although such moments can be overhyped, it summed up just why he's been preferred

to Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the deepest lying midfield role by Jurgen Klopp in the

season's opening weeks.

Wijnaldum again excelled in the role as the Reds made it three wins from three this season.

He didn't waste a pass in the first half, finding his man with all 46 attempts as Liverpool

dominated,

and it was his willingness to express himself in the manner he did with those keep-ups that

said so much.

It was easy to forget that he was halfway inside his own half when he did them.

It is also easy to forget that Wijnaldum was seen as a No.10 when he arrived at Liverpool

from relegated Newcastle two years ago.

Now he's a roving menace in midfield and capable of playing in any one of the three positions

in the centre of Klopp's team, but crucially maintaining that attacking swagger as he does

so.

That bravery is what Klopp's football is all about, and is even more crucial when the Reds

aren't exactly firing on all cylinders like they weren't here, where they edgily crept

to a 1-0 win thanks to Mo Salah's goal.
