amen all right so last week I preached
on Sunday I believe it was Sunday
morning I preached on that which
destroyeth kings and so here this
evening I'm going to continue that
sermon and give you a part two of that
so just to kind of give you a recap of
what I talked about last week of course
the Bible tells us that we are kings and
priests unto God and we talked about how
that we do rule and reign in this world
just like Kings do that we are required
to make judgments in our lives and so
because of that we want to make sure
that we take lessons from the kings that
are in the Bible and see what it was
that caused them to be destroyed and
make sure we don't do that which destroy
of Kings the Bible says here in proverbs
31 verse number 3 give not thy strength
unto women nor thy ways to that which
destroy of kings and so some of those
things we looked at last week of course
a couple of them are mentioned in this
chapter about the strange woman that if
you give yourself over to the strange
woman that that will destroy your life
alcohol as well is mentioned in this
chapter that you give yourself over to
the strong drink that it will pervert
judgment and it will cause you to forget
the laws of God and so we looked at some
of those things last week and so this
week we're going to continue looking at
some of these kings in the Bible and see
what it was that destroyed them now
there are so many kings in the Bible
that we could I could probably spend the
next several weeks preaching messages on
that which destroy of kings but I
probably won't do that this is probably
the last message in this line of
messages but look at what the Bible has
say in first Kings chapter number 12 and
look at verse number 1 and we're going
to look at first of all Rio Boehm here
tonight and Jeroboam and see what it was
that caused them to be destroyed go to
first Kings chapter number of a chapter
number 12 and look down at verse number
1 first Kings chapter number 12 and
verse number 1 suit the Bible has say
they're first Kings chapter
number 12 and verse number one and the
Bible says this in first Kings 12 verse
number 1 the Bible says right there and
Rio Boehm went to Shechem for all Israel
were come to Shechem to make him King
and it came to pass when Jeroboam the
son of Nebat who was yet in Egypt heard
of it for he was fled from the presence
of King Solomon and Jeroboam dwelt in
Egypt then that they sat and called him
and Jeroboam and all the congregation of
Israel came and spake unto Rhea bones
saying thy father made our our yoke
Grievous now therefore make down the
Grievous service of thy father and his
heavy yoke which he put upon us lighter
and we will serve thee and he said unto
them depart yet for three days and then
come again to me and the people departed
in King Rehoboam consulted with the old
men and stood before Solomon his father
while he yet lived and said how do you
advise that I may answer this people and
they spake unto him saying if that will
be a servant unto this people this day
and won't serve them and answer them and
speak good words to them then they will
be thy servants forever but he forsook
the counsel of the old men which they
had given him and consulted with the
young men that were grown up with him
and which stood before him and he said
unto them what counsel give ye that we
may answer this people who have spoken
to me saying make the yoke which I
father did put upon us lighter and the
young men that were grown up with him
spake unto him saying thus shalt thou
speak unto this people that speak under
these same my father made our yoke heavy
but make that lighter unto us thus shalt
thou say unto them my little finger
shall be thicker than my father's loins
and now where as my father did laid you
with a heavy yoke I will add to your
yoke and my father and you have
chastised you with whips but I will
chastise you with scorpions now let's go
on down skip down a little ways go down
to verse number let's go down to verse
number 18 and the Bible says right there
or verse 16 let's start there
and says so when all Israel saw that the
King hearkened not unto unto them the
people answer the king saying what
portion have we in David neither have we
inheritance in the son of Jesse to your
tents o Israel now see to thine own
house David so Israel departed unto
their tents but as for the children of
Israel which dwelt in the cities of
Judah Rio Boehm reigned over them then
King Rehoboam sent a doram who was over
the tribute in all Israel stoned stoned
him with stones that he died
therefore King Rehoboam made speed to
get him up to his chariot to flee to
Jerusalem so Israel rebelled against the
house of David unto this day and so
right there we read all of that here
tonight to kind of show that there is a
mistake that Rio Boehm made that caused
the Kingdom of Israel to be destroyed it
caused the Kingdom of Israel to be split
into two kingdoms and it was never again
joined back together into one Kingdom
and what was the mistake that Ryo Boehm
did well instead of listening to the
counsel of the older men the men who had
been with Solomon his father the men
that were wiser and had more knowledge
and had more understanding he listened
to the counsel of those who he had grown
up with he listened to the counsel of
his own buddies over the counsel of
those older men who had some wisdom
about him and because he listened to the
counsel the wrong counsel of men that
are wicked the nation was destroyed now
I have seen this in my own life I have
seen this in a church where where I once
was where I once was on staff how that
there was a younger pastor that came on
to the scene it was actually the
pastor's son that took over the church
and the pastor's son took over the
church and was brought in was voted in
and when he came in instead of listening
to the counsel of older
and who had been there he started
bringing in his buddies that he had
grown up with that were on staff or that
were not on staff but brought them in
and brought them on staff into the
church and these men were not godly men
these men were not spiritual men and
these men before long were doing things
that were contrary to what the church
had stood for for years I mean I can
remember back when I was there I was
coaching football at the time and we had
a football game that was going on in
this church had always been a church
that had had the right music godly music
had never gone away and to all the music
of the world and we're getting ready for
this football game and he had brought in
and at the athletic director on to the
church staff in this athletic director
was not a godly man but he's there in
the church and they are working in the
school there and he comes in and all of
the sudden we're getting ready for this
football game it's right before we're
getting warmed up for everything that's
about to take place and all of a sudden
there's rock music that's coming over
the speakers and the pastor was there
the pastor the younger pastor was there
and heard it and he was just standing
there and didn't do anything until
someone went up and said something to
him and then he went in and told him to
get that music off of there but you see
he just brought in these younger men and
listened later on some of those men and
some of those people that he brought in
did some things that were illegal things
that people went to jail for such as
having a relationship so-called no it's
called abusing or molesting children and
teenagers in the school because he
didn't bring in people that were
spiritual that were godly he brought in
younger men that he was just buddies
with just like Rio Boehm and just
listened to the wrong kind of counsel
and listened to the counsel of the
younger over the counsel
the godly men and because of that that
church was almost destroyed in that
church lost a lot of members within the
church and almost I mean the school went
way downhill now listen we don't believe
in having a Christian school here but
their school went downhill very quickly
they lost a lot of students they lost a
lot of members in the church and all
because the pastor the younger pastor
that came in did not heed the counsel of
the older men did not heed the counsel
of those who are godly so number one
here tonight what is it what is a way
that will destroy a king is when a king
listens to the wrong town soul now let
me say this when it comes to a king a
king is the ruler right a king is a
dictator you see a king is one that he
makes the laws and sets forth the laws
and everyone has to obey those laws
don't they and listen let me just say
this on a side note you know oftentimes
I'll hear Christians out there when they
try to make excuses for Trump or try to
make excuses for other Republicans
they'll say well if we can just get a
godly leader just like they had in the
Bible I mean when they had a godly King
the nation became more godly and when
they had a wicked King the nation became
more wicked you know why that was
because they had a king you see if a
godly King came in he was a dictator and
if he said you have to serve the Lord
thy God and you don't have any choice
and if you go worship a wizard I'm gonna
put you to death you didn't have a
choice so of course the nation became
more godly because they had a king who
was a dictator they had a benevolent
dictator but then when a a evil cain't
king came in then of course the nation
would become more evil because then they
didn't have a whole lot of choice now
our nation is not the same our
governmental system is not the same as
what they had
we have senators and we have congressmen
and we have the president and the
president is not a dictator he has to
abide by the laws that Congress and
Senate set forth and so you know what
that is not an excuse for for these
different leaders that we get in but by
the way here's a principle that we see
in the Word of God is that whenever you
see the leadership that God instilled it
was always one man that was put in
charge
you look all throughout the Bible
whether it's from Old Testament the New
Testament it was one man that was in
charge when it was the error of the
kings it was one man that God anointed
when David was anointed David was a man
when Solomon was anointed Solomon was a
man when Saul was anointed Solomon was a
man in the days of Gideon
it was Gideon in the days of Samson it
was Samson you go throughout all the
judges and there was one man that was in
charge it was not committee run but
today we've got churches today that are
run by committees let me tell you
something this church will never be a
committee run Church and the model that
you see in the Bible is that the pastor
has the authority that what the pastor
says is what it goes in the Word of God
and you may not like that but that's
what the Bible says that's what the
Bible teaches you don't see deacons in
the Bible voting on things what do you
see you see the pastor making the
decision and the Deacons were waiting
tables the Deacons were taking care of
the daily business of the church those
menial tasks so that the pastor could
give himself to the studying of the Word
of God in taking care of more important
matters but when you look at the Bible
here and you look at these Kings this
way in which the Kings were destroyed
here was because they had taken the
wrong kind of counsel now listen as a
pastor what I say is what goes in this
church let you know what I do take
counsel I do listen to advice
I will talk to men and I will ask men
their advice I asked my wife when it
comes to matters of the home I will ask
her advice in our home but who makes the
decision in the home I do right as the
husband of my home the husband makes
that decision and within the church I
will take counsel and I will listen to
advice but I'm the one who makes the
decision so you know if I get the wrong
kind of counsel and I listen to the
counsel of those who are evil and wicked
then this church will go very badly
won't it it won't be long that this
church would be destroyed if you get the
wrong kind of counsel in your marriage
that will destroy your life if you young
men get the wrong kind of counsel from
your buddies from those who are younger
instead of those who are your elders who
are trying to steer you in the right
direction that counsel will destroy your
life if it destroyed the nation of
Israel what makes you so prideful that
you think it won't happen to you you see
in the Bible this is exactly what
happened with them now let's take our
Bibles and go to 2nd Samuel chapter
number 16 and let's look at another
example of this second samuel chapter
number 16 and look what the Bible has to
say there 2nd samuel just turning the
left in your Bible you're not too far
away from it second samuel chapter
number 16 and look down at verse number
23 second samuel chapter number 16 and
verse number 23 and the bible says this
in 2nd samuel chapter number 16 verse
number 23 the Bible says and the counsel
of a hipa fell which he counseled in
those days was as it was as if a man had
inquired at the Oracle of God so was all
the counsel of Ahithophel both with
David and with Absalom so when a hit the
bell gave you counsel you better listen
up right
I mean his counsel was something that
was going to be profitable for you now
he goes against David and he joins up
with Absalom as we'll see here in a
moment but if absent
would have heeded his counsel it would
have went better perhaps alum is what we
see in the Bible because the Bible says
there that his counsel was as if
somebody inquired at the Oracle of God
now what does that mean I mean if you've
enquired at the Oracle of God that's as
if a priest went into the house of God
and inquired of God for the nation of
Israel and the counsel that God always
gave was right the counsel that God
would give his people when he would give
them Commandments it was always right so
a hyssop al was that kind of a man who
is a good counselor look at what the
Bible says in chapter 17 look down to
verse number 14 and the Bible says and
Absalom and all the men of Israel said
the counsel of who Shai the archive is
better than the counsel of Ahithophel
for the Lord had appointed to defeat the
Good Counsel of a HIPPA fell to the
intent that the Lord might bring evil
upon Absalom now we know the story what
ends up happening Absalom gets his hair
caught in the thicket he's hung by his
hair and Joab comes along and slays him
Absalom dies why well number one it was
of the Lord that he would be destroyed
but it was of the Lord that God would
confound the counsel of a hit of hell
you see had Absalom listened to a HIPPA
fell listen to that good counsel it
would have went better form but of
course we know that that was impossible
because of what God's will was here but
nonetheless there's a principle there
that we can see right then if you listen
to the wrong counsel it will lead you to
death and there are a lot of Christians
out there that are listening to the
wrong kind of counsel they're listening
to the world they're listening to all
their TV shows they're listening to all
their drama shows they're listening to
what the world says they're listening
what worldly advisers say instead of
what the Bible says instead of what God
says they're listening to those who are
younger who they
grown up with him and listening to their
buddies instead of listening to somebody
who's their elder people are listening
to people that are their friends instead
of listening to their pastor you know
what God his place the pastor over you
for a reason right by the way what is
that reason God has given some in the
church for what reason that you be no
more children tossed to and fro with
every strange wind of doctrine see if
you don't listen to the pastor you don't
listen to the elders in your life you're
going to be tossed to and fro and listen
you need to heed the godly counsel that
you've been given when the pastor stands
up and preaches the Word of God when the
Word of God is spoken
you need to heed that godly counsel but
you know how many times I have preached
the Word of God and given counsel the
people just to see him go out and go to
the world just to see him go out and go
to the church trash can down the road
you'll how many times have preached to
people that you know what you need to be
in the house of God all three services
you need to make sure that your children
are in church you need to make sure that
they're in the house of God and it was
preached over and over and over and over
for years and years and years and years
that you need to have your children in
the house of God but people would not
heed that warning and those people did
not bring their children to all three
services and they'd only bring them to
one service a week and then lo and
behold when we do away with the Sunday
School class then they end up at the
church trashcan you know why they ended
up there because they never heeded the
counsel of the Word of God they never
heeded what the pastor told them that
your children need to be in the house of
God hearing the Word of God in every
single service not just in the
sunday-school hour you don't need to
bring your children the church just so
they can get kool-aid in a cookie and
have fun time and draw a picture and
color a picture that's not Church you
know what churches charges when the man
of
stands up and preaches the Word of God
and the people of God hear the counsel
of the word of God but so many
Christians they won't take heed to what
the pastor says and then lo and behold
their lives get destroyed and then they
come running back later on and they say
pastor fix my life pastor what can I do
hey you should have heeded before you
should have listened to the counsel
before you got to that point because
just like I preached this morning that
which is crooked cannot be made straight
you do not heed the counsel of the word
of God and you go out and you destroy
your life and you take your kid away
from the King James Independent Baptist
Church that is soul-winning that is
doing the works of God that's on fire
for God and you go down this celebration
you go down to one these nom de noms
you go down to one these fun sinners
don't be surprised when you come back to
me in 15 years because your kids are
drug head don't be surprised when you
come back to me and your kid wants
nothing to do with Church because you
never got them involved in Soul in it
because you never got involved in
serving God and seeing your zeal for the
Lord and motivating them to love God
don't be surprised when you come back to
me in there a drunkard because I
guarantee that's exactly what's going to
happen if you disregard the counsel of
God you know children need to be in the
house of God in all three services every
time the church doors are open they need
to be in the house of God hearing the
Word of God and you may sit there and
say well I don't know how interested
kids are you know I can give you story
after story of both my family and other
families that have told me things that
their kids remember from the services
and the parents go how in the world do
you remember that I mean listen I could
give you story out there story of that
children pick up more than you think I
mean children or sponges and they
remember everything not only that when
they're young you are instill
in them that which they are going to
like the rest of their life so you know
if you bring them the church when
they're young and they hear hard
preaching their entire life growing up
you know what when they get to be twenty
years old they're not going to be a
snowflake they're not just going to be
offended by every little thing because
they're used to hearing the hard
preaching and when they go out and they
total some church where there's no hard
preaching they're not going to like it
and when they go to some church that's
not King James only they're not going to
like it and when they go to some church
that's a non denominator and when a
woman stands up in the pulpit and stands
up in so-called preaches up there from
the pulpit they are not gonna like it
you know why because they were in the
house of God you know I grew up in
Independent Baptist churches hearing the
preaching of the word of God hearing
hard preaching going sewing in churches
that word King James only so you know I
can't even stomach these non de nom
I can't even stand being in those places
I can't stand going into a place with
the way they have the purple lights and
the music is all the music is all this
Christian type MCN music that's out
there in the world I can't stand it you
know why because I grew up with the old
hymns I grew up with Amazing Grace
I grew up with it is well with my soul I
grew up with day by day I grew up with
parries apparently I grew up with all
these hymns that are found in the Word
of God and so when I go to one of these
places with these nan de nom
is all changed into this worldly stuff I
can't stand it you know why because my
parents raised me right
my parents raised me in the house of God
even as a young child I remember being
four five years old sitting in the pews
and my dad would be up there preaching
and I would every want to
randomly just yell amen I had no idea
what I was aiming and at that point but
you know what I wanted to be a part of
it I loved what was going on
I loved the preaching of what was going
on and you know I loved growing up in a
place where there was a real man
standing in the pulpit where there was a
man who was not afraid to raise his
voice where there was a man who was not
afraid to get angry at that which is
simple and would stand up and call it
out and preach against it and we need
that kind of churches in this world
today but if you disregard the council
don't be destroyed if you are don't be
surprised if you are destroyed because
if you give your ways to that which
destroy your Kings it's gonna destroy
you you're no different than Rio Boehm
you'll no different than David you know
different than Solomon you're no
different than Hezekiah you're no
different than Manasseh you're no
different than all the kings in the Word
of God you're no different than Sampson
because you know what every man is drawn
away of his own lust and when lust hath
conceived it bringeth forth sin and when
sin is finished it bringeth forth death
you go towards that and you give your
counsel to the ungodly you will be
destroyed now let's take our Bibles go
to 2nd Samuel chapter number 11 and look
what the Bible has to say there second
Samuel chapter number 11 and look at
verse number one second Samuel chapter
number 11 and look down at verse number
one see what the Bible has to say there
second Samuel chapter number 11 and
verse number one and the Bible says this
in second Samuel Chapter number 11 verse
number one the Bible says and it came to
pass after the year was expired
at the time when Kings go forth to
battle what do you think it means by the
time Kings go forth to battle let me
tell you something during this day in
time they didn't have the technology
that we have today right and even today
with our technology if you go to war in
the wintertime that's pretty difficult
right so the time Kings go to battle is
after
the winner look at what the Bible says
here Bible says right there in verse
number one again it came to pass after
the year was expired at that at the time
when Kings go forth to battle that David
sent Joab and his servants with him and
all Israel and they destroyed the
children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah
but David tarried still at Jerusalem and
it came to pass in the evening time that
David arose from off his dead and walked
up upon the roof of the king's house and
from the roof he saw a woman washing
herself and the woman was very beautiful
to look upon her now there or to look
upon now you know the rest of the story
there what takes place
David ends up sinning right come into
adultery with Bathsheba and then and
then he ends up murdering Uriah to cover
it up because she became pregnant and
then God punishes him by taking the
child and killing the child but it all
starts because David was idle because
David was not where he was supposed to
be this is the time of year when Kings
go forth to battle when David should
have been out in the field when David
should have been out at the war at the
forefront leading the troops and telling
the troops what to do instead of doing
what if the king ought to be doing he's
back home just being idle and because he
was idle this is the main sin that
destroyed David's life I mean this is
the main thing I mean when the Bible
tells us that David turned out to the
right hand nor to the left saving in the
matter of your hire they had tight this
is a main thing that brought destruction
upon his upon his home that ruined his
life that ruined his family don't you
think his family suffered the rest of
their lives because of this absolutely
they did and David suffered the rest of
his lives because this and you see
problems because of this later on within
his own family
why because David was idle give not
you're wasted that which destroyeth
Kings you know what
need to learn not to do you need to
learn not to be idle you need to learn
to stay busy you need to learn to stay
busy doing things and working and
getting things done and I don't care
what age you are when children are
growing up they need to learn how to
work children are growing up they need
to be given chores they need to learn
how to do things and you children might
think that you have a horrible life and
that your parents are so hard on you
because of the things that you do aren't
you glad you little snowflakes that you
didn't grow up you know a couple
generations ago because a couple
generations ago you would have been out
on the farm a couple generations ago you
would have been out there working in the
heat of the day every day on the farm I
mean out there hoeing the ground and
tilling the ground and taking care of
the animals and scooping the dung and
feeding the corn the corn husks to the
pigs you would have been out there
slopping the pigs and doing all of that
stuff but our children just have it so
hard today right no our children need to
learn how to work they need to learn how
to do things and get things done and
listen man if you have a job to do when
you're raising your children especially
with your boys if you've got a job that
you got to get something done get your
boys involved teach them how to do it
don't have this attitude then I see a
whole lot of men that have that say well
I would rather I know I can get it done
faster if I do it myself and I just
don't let my boys help that is not
helping your children that's not being a
good father a good father passes his
knowledge on to his children and teaches
them how to do it you know what I thank
God I went through some of the hard
things with my father then I went
through you know we had times when there
hurricane came through and ripped the
roof off of our house and you know what
me and my dad had to basically recut the
entire house and we had to basically
build it on up from the floor down we
had to tear out the floors tort tear out
the wall
here at the insulation I mean we had to
do all the flooring all the drywall all
the insulation the roofing and me and my
brother helped him with it all and I
thank God that I went through that and
learned how to do some things and
learned how to work with my hands
because you know what I am thankful for
the character that my father instilled
in me yeah there are some times that
yeah maybe he could have gotten it done
faster had he just done it by himself
but you know what he took the time to
teach me how to do it and you know the
perspective yah to have as a father you
know that perspective of just you know
getting it done as fast as you can and
not having somebody help you is a
horrible perspective and it's not the
perspective of a leader because a leader
has a perspective of this that if I
teach somebody else to do it
and I get them to do it and I'm working
along with them and then I get another
one trained and another one trained hey
before long we can get it done faster
than what I ever could by myself that is
what a leader does and that is what we
ought to do as the leaders of our homes
train up your children listen you got a
job I mean you got to fix the toilet get
your boy to help you out you gotta lay
some tile get them involved you gotta
lay some flooring get them involved get
them to help you doing that especially
as they grow older now listen yeah if
they're three years old they might just
get in the way right but you know as
they grow older you ought to be
continually training them to work you
ought to be giving them chores to do and
teaching them not to be idle and listen
when you get to the point by the way
where if you have the luxury one day to
retire you still need to stay idle I
meant not idle I'm sorry you still need
to stay busy amen
you still need to stay doing things and
not be idle because what happens is you
see these older people that get idle
they retire they stop doing things and
before long they pass away they die or
they get depressed you know what the
people that I see that
the longest or the ones who stayed busy
their entire life even if they have the
luxury of retiring you know what they do
they're continually working on their
house they're planting a garden there
they're working and growing food and
doing stuff stay busy
do not give become idle because idleness
is the devil's workshop and when you're
sitting there idle and you have nothing
to do
all of a sudden temptation comes up in
front of you and because you have
nothing to do it's easier to give into
it because then you sit there thinking
about that temptation but you see if
you're busy and you're working and you
got a job to do it doesn't matter if the
temptation comes up and I see the
temptation I don't have time to stop
I'll have time to go think about that
temptation I'll have time to go get
involved in that sin you know why
because I've got responsibilities that
I've got to get done and so I'm staying
busy working and you're the Bible tells
us if any man refused to work he has
denied the faith you're you've denied
the faith if you refuse to work if
you're a man and you're not working you
know I don't have a whole lot of respect
for you you need to stay busy working so
that you're not idle all the time look
back over the Bible says let's look at
some scripture on this take your Bibles
and let's go to proverbs 19 and look at
what the Bible has to say there proverbs
chapter number 19 and look down at verse
number 15 and the Bible says this in
proverbs chapter number 19 in verse
number 15 the Bible says right there
proverbs chapter number 19 and verse
number 15 the Bible says slothfulness
casteth into a deep sleep and the idle
soul shall suffer what's that now notice
here how idleness and slothfulness and
sleep are tied together you see the idle
person this awful person the lazy person
loves to sleep you see he just can't get
up in the morning he just can't get to
work he stays up too late at night and
we have all kinds of men like this out
in the world that are stay up too late
playing their video games I mean they're
40 years old and they're still playing a
child's game now listen when I was a
child I enjoyed my video games but you
know what when I became a man I put away
childish things because I better things
are doing by the way I don't recommend
these video games here today whatsoever
because now you have all these wicked
games out there that are teaching young
men how to kill how to steal how to
cheat and all these wicked games that
are out there you know back in the day
when video games came out a lot of them
might have been just innocent games I
mean things that were not bad but you
know what the problem was even with the
innocent game it's easy to get addicted
it's easy to sit there and they spend
hours upon hours upon hours playing
those video games you know how I know
that because back in the day you know
they didn't have memory cards back in
the day you couldn't just save your
progress back in the day when we were
playing you know a Mario on that
Nintendo you know you just had to keep
on going cuz you couldn't you couldn't
save your progress so you know what me
and my brothers would do and by the way
we were only allowed at that time to
play one hour a week I think God my
parents at least set those restrictions
one hour a week was it we could spend on
it so me and my brothers here's what we
would do I would play an hour not
passing control to my brother he plays
an hour I have four brothers so how many
hours does that add up to five hours
total of us playing video games there
and we would beat the entire game
because we just pass on the control and
we'd spend all that time on there and
you know what we were doing would be an
idle is what we were doing we were
spending all that time on those stupid
video games and but you know what when I
became a man I put away childish things
haven't played video games and I don't
know how long I couldn't even tell you
the last video game whatever was that I
played anything you know what we've got
men today that are being idle staying up
too late playing the
games and then they can't make it to
work on time in the morning because they
stayed up too late doing that stuff
playing on their phones and playing
video games and doing all these things
and then their Idol and they love sleep
and their slothful and they're just
trying to sleep in before long they lose
their job and their hunger in you want
they can't tell you how many people I've
worked with that were lazy people that
were idle people that when you worked
with them you just wish you didn't have
to work with that person and isn't it
amazing that they just never had lunch
money they never had money to be able to
buy their own food but hey they had
those cigarettes hey they were in the
bar room the night before till 3:00 4:00
a.m. and they were staying up late all
night but yet they were idle and lazy
you as a Christian man you need to learn
how to work real man work you see real
men hey real tough men they're not
worried about how big and bad they are
real tough men work and provide for
their families real men get out there
and work by the sweat of their brow and
get things done and provide for their
families and bring home the bacon that's
what men do they're not these sissified
men today that don't know how to work
don't know how to get up don't know how
to get up in the morning listen you're
gonna have all kinds of suffering in
your life so you better just get used to
it it doesn't feel good to get up in the
morning doesn't feel good to get up at
3:00 4:00 a.m. to go to work and I can
tell you I've had plenty of those kinds
of days I've had plenty I had a weekend
just here recently well I got two hours
of sleep and I was out working and what
was I doing I was out traveling to
preach the Word of God you know what
that is hard work when you're doing that
and there have been plenty of days
before when I worked my full-time job
getting up at 3:00 4:00 in the morning
to go work out in the hot Sun and
install lightning rods on top of
rooftops hey that's not exactly fun but
you know what a man does what a man
needs to do a man gets up and works and
let me tell you something
it
you do not work I do not consider you a
real man if you're too lazy to get up
and to get to work and to provide for
your family I have no respect for you
because a real man a real Christian
works and provides for his family and is
not idle and I will never ordain a man
that is idle I will never send out a
preacher that is idle and lazy and
slothful and can't make it to work on
time you know why because if the man is
idle and lazy and slothful he'll be idle
and lazy and slothful in doctrine he'll
be idle and lazy and slothful and study
in this book and study in the Word of
God and when he gets up the preach the
Word of God he'll have no content he'll
have no substance he'll have nothing to
pass on he'll have nothing to give to
his people because he was idle and lazy
and slothful and he's not been studying
the Word of God and so he'll get up in
the pulpit and it'll make statements
like this I just had a hard time coming
up with the message this week I just I
think that all preachers at some time in
their life they just have a hard time
coming up with the message hard time
coming up with the message you've got 66
books you've got 1089 chapters right in
the Bible you did I get that correct I
think so you've got that many chapters
in the Bible and you can't come up with
a message you know what that tells me
you not been read in the book you've not
been studying because if you've been
studying you been in this word there'll
be something on your heart you'll have
something to say you'll have something
to speak if you're in the book and if
you're studying and if you're not lazy
and I will never send out a man that is
lazy I'll never send out a man that is
idle and I promise you this if I hire
somebody on staff and I think that
they're good before I before I hire them
if I find out when they come to work
here that they are idle
I will fire you I hate idleness
I cannot stand
pulling another man's weight I cannot
stand doing a job that a full-grown man
ought to be doing himself and that
person will be reprimanded and if it's
not corrected they will be fired they
will not be allowed to be on staff at
this church if they do not know how to
work and I promise you this you stay
idle and you do not learn how to work
and you do not learn how to get up early
you will amount to nothing in your life
you will not be successful and don't sit
there and think that people are just
gonna give you everything and that the
perfect job is just gonna fall into your
lap that does not happen you know why
people get good jobs you know why people
are successful in this world
because they're not idle those are the
people that are successful those are the
people who get good jobs those are the
people that get promoted is the one
who's not idle who's willing to do the
dirty job and does it to the best of his
ability and the boss sees it and the
boss promotes him and before long he's
no longer doing the dirty job before
long he's the one telling others to do
the dirty job but you know what when he
had that job he was doing the best he
could to the best of his ability and if
he didn't know how to do it he had the
motivation to figure it out you see if
you don't know how to do something
figure it out don't go back to your boss
you know what you do if you need your
boss's permission you figure out a
solution and then you go back to your
boss and you say here's the problem we
have but I have a solution and here it
is you know your boss will love you for
that when I worked out in the world you
know I had to deal with contractors all
the time electricians general
contractors steel workers I mean all
over throughout I mean government people
OSHA people NASA people working with all
these people and we'd have problems all
the time we'd run into things that hey
this is a problem y'all didn't call us
until it's almost too late the
building's already grown up going up and
now you want lightning protection we got
problem how we're going to get this done
here's a solution you know that's what
people want that's what people like you
want to get promoted in this life then
be self-motivated and in order to do
that you cannot be idle you cannot be
lazy you need to learn how to think and
to use your mind and to apply it to your
work and to figure things out and to get
things done I know this will destroy you
if it destroyed David who is a man after
God's own heart what makes you think it
won't destroy you what makes you think
that you're above David listen I promise
you if you stay idle it will destroy
your life look back over the Bible has
say let me look at a couple more
scriptures on that and in fact take your
Bibles go down there first Timothy
chapter number five and look at verse
number 13 first Timothy chapter number
five and verse number thirteen see the
Bible has say there first Timothy
chapter number five and verse number
thirteen and see what the Word of God
has say there first Timothy chapter
number five and verse number thirteen in
fact let's go back up just a couple
verses go up to verse number eleven and
the Bible says but the younger widows
refused for when they have begun to wax
wanton against Christ they will marry
having damnation because they have cast
off their first faith and with all they
learn to be what's that I don't wander
about from house to house and not only
idle but tattlers also and busybodies
speaking things which they ought not you
know this is directed at younger women
for a reason you know why because
typically younger women are the women
they have problems with this don't they
their idol at home they're staying home
all day and they're just watching the
soap opera and they stay idle and
because they're idle they're just
calling their friends and their
murmuring they're complaining they're
tattling they're busy bodies getting in
everybody else's business and listen
that will destroy your home that will
wreck your home hey you women
--home need to stay busy you'll need to
be idle hey your husband is out working
by the sweat of his brow he's working
out in the Sun you need to work your job
is to take care of the children your job
is the guide the house that is your job
you need to get it done and don't expect
your husband to do that job for you
that's your job listen when your husband
comes home and he goes to bed and he's
sleeping through the night you know what
you're the one that needs to get up and
take care of the child not the husband
even number one because the husband's
not equipped to right we have a
different set of equipment and that's
not in our equipment we can't do
anything about that so you know it's the
woman that has to get up and feed the
baby and number two if you're a
housewife you get to stay home you're
staying home and you are staying in the
AC and you have your food provided for
you you have your money provided for you
you can take a nap during the day if you
need to and listen I have nothing
against my wife taken in that during the
day if she needs to you know why because
it's a trade-off because at night time I
have to sleep through the night so I can
get up and go to work because you know
there was days and times when I had to
get up at 3:00 4:00 in the morning and
go out and work in the Sun and work on a
rooftop and you wives need to make sure
that you're not murmuring against your
husband because it is your job to take
care of the children don't be idle but
you know what I see a lot of wives do a
lot of wives they'll just kind of pass
off their children onto the husband
Ellison as a husband I try to help out
and take care of my children as well my
children need things you know I'll try
to help them out it's my job also to
help train them and raise them up but
the primary caregiver is the mother
isn't it the primary caregiver the one
who is to guide the house is the woman
and listen that is the woman's job that
is a full-time job and she is paid
adequately
or it isn't she because her housing is
provided the car is provided for the
food is provided for everything she
needs is provided for and listen if a
husband is a good husband and is doing
what he ought to do then the wife should
have no problem doing what she ought to
do do not murmur and complain against
your husband because he doesn't get up
and take care of the child in the middle
of the night
I'm sorry wives but that is your job
because your husband has to get up in
the morning and drive to work and go
work out in the hot Sun and get things
done to provide for the house the Bible
tells us in Proverbs 31 in fact you know
what go there go to proverbs chapter
number 31 that's where we started look
at what the Bible says about this woman
this woman's a godly woman this woman is
a virtuous woman this woman is a woman
whose price is far above rubies and
listen when you read about this woman
every one of you men would agree yeah I
want my wife to be like this woman
because look at what the Bible says here
the Bible says in proverbs chapter
number 31 let's look on down let's see
verse number 10 the Bible says who can
find a virtuous woman for a price is far
above above rubies the heart of her
husband does safely trust in her so he
shall have no need of spoil she will do
him good and not evil all the days of
her life she seeketh wool and flax and
worketh willingly with her hands so
number one what is she doing is she idle
no she's working willingly she's not
just working it is her will and is her
want to it is her desire to work for her
family
it's her desire to work for her husband
and you know the Bible told us in the
book of Genesis thy desire shall be to
thy husband the Bible says look at what
the Bible says here in verse number 14
she is like the merchants the merchant
ships she bringeth her food from afar
she goes grocery shopping doesn't she
yeah look at verse number 15 she rises
also while it is yet what you want me to
back up
I just told you a few moments ago that's
a woman's job to rise at night what's
the Bible say Bible says it doesn't it
she rise it while it is yet night and
does what and give its me to her
household in a portion two remaining
she's feeding the household in the
middle of the night so whose job is it
is it the husband that's doing this or
is it the virtuous woman whose price is
far above rubies it's a virtuous woman
and you women may not like that but
that's what the Bible says and my final
authority is that book not your opinion
look at what the Bible says their Bible
says she rises in the middle of night
and giveth me to her household and a
portion to her maiden she consider with
a field and pipe it with the fruit of
her hands she planted the vineyard she
guarded through lines with strength and
strengthened with her arms she perceive
ahthe that her merchandise is good her
camel goeth not out by night hey doesn't
that sound like a woman who's got a
newborn who's got to pay me I mean her
camel goeth not out by night
I mean she's rising in the middle of the
night to feed her household this is the
virtuous woman this is the woman's job
not the man because the man's candle
goes not out by day right because the
man is out in the field working and
slaving away and working in the hot Sun
look at where the Bible says there the
Bible says right there in verse number
19 she laid her hands to the spindle and
her hands hold the disc chap she
stretches down her hand to the poor yay
she reaches forth her hand sunidhi she
is not afraid of the snow for her
household for all her household or
clothed with scarlet she maketh herself
coverings of tapestry her clothing is
silk and purple she's providing for her
household - right listen she knows how
to sew you know what you women need to
learn how to do that and listen we need
word probably do some classes on that
and have some of our women that know how
to sew teach the others how to do that
because let's be honest it's getting
harder and harder to find modest
clothing out there isn't it
and you women need to learn how to do
this so you can provide for your family
listen we have a few women that know how
to do that and the Bible tells us that
the elder women are to teach the younger
women and you know we have a few women
my wife knows how to sew miss Sandra is
a seamstress and she knows and even
knows how to sell maybe someday you
could go down to the sewing shop with
Miss Sandra and just sit there and learn
from her and just help her with whatever
she needs I'm throwing this in your
court here Miss ADA right I'm going to
give her some free workers who come down
there and help her in her sewing shop
but you know that be a good thing for
the women to learn how to do that this
is the virtuous woman that knows how to
do these things
she is not idle you women need to learn
how to work learn how to do these things
learn to sew don't be idle rise in the
middle of the night feed your household
your candle goes not out by night don't
pass that on to your husband you know
what the last thing you need to do to
your husband when your husband comes
home and he comes home from having a
hard day working out in the field trying
to get things done listen there have
been days I have worked out in the Sun
and worked and labored and worked hard
all day long and felt like I got nothing
done any of you may never have a day
like that it's frustrating and then you
go home and what's your wife do the
first thing she does here's a baby
listen women that is wrong you need to
have more respect for your husband and
understand what he goes through and you
know what it goes both ways as husbands
we should try to help out our wives but
you know what women don't be that way if
you want your husband to treat you well
you want your husband to do that which
is right and help you out be this kind
of a woman be the kind of a woman that's
a virtuous woman that where price is far
above rubies because then you know what
then your husband will do anything for
you then your husband's going to help
you then your husband's going to love
you more then your husband's going to be
one that desires the plea
to help you however he can because he
understands you're the kind of woman
that can't be bought
you're the kind of woman that can't be
found out there you're the woman that
every man would love and desire to have
because you're the virtuous woman and
your husband will praise you more and
you know what men we ought to praise our
wives more if they are this kind of a
wife you know what we like to be
sarcastic and we like to have fun with
one another and with our wives but if
your wife is a virtuous woman this woman
give her the praise she desires
give her the praise that she needs I
mean just appraise her in the gates
because the Bible says that if she's
that kind of woman she will be praised
by her husband she will be praised by
her children you know what then if
you're that kind of a husband maybe one
she can when you come home she won't be
doing this with the children you see it
goes both ways doesn't it hey I just
ripped on the one women bond ripping on
you men
- right because we need to hear this as
well that if you want that kind of a
virtuous woman do your job you want the
virtuous woman that's not I don't you
don't be idle you want to be the have
the virtuous woman whose price is far
above rubies then give her the praise
that she deserves praise her in the gate
so let's look back at what Bible says
let's move on from that point here
tonight man I'm already running out of
the time y'all gotta listen up quicker
look back at what the Bible says go to
2nd Kings chapter number 20 let's try to
maybe look at one more King here tonight
look at a second Kings chapter number 20
might have to preach a few more sermons
on this topic right look at second Kings
it's chapter number 20 look at verse
number 13 second Kings chapter number 20
and verse number 13 see what the Bible
says they're saying Kings chapter number
20 and verse number 13 and the Bible
says this in 2nd Kings chapter number 20
in verse number 13 the Bible says right
there in verse number 13 and Hezekiah
hearken unto them and showed them all
the house of his precious things the
silver and the gold and the spices and
the precious ointment and all the house
of his armor and all
was found in his treasures there was
nothing in his house knowing all his
Dominion that Hezekiah showed them not
then came Isaiah the prophet unto King
Hezekiah and said unto Him what said
these men and from whence came they unto
thee and Hezekiah said they are come
from a far country even from Babylon and
he said what have they seen in thine
house and Hezekiah answered all the
things that are in mine house had they
seen there is nothing among my treasures
that I have not showed them and Isaiah
said unto Hezekiah hear the word of the
Lord behold the days come that all that
is in thine house and that which our
fathers have laid up in store unto this
day shall be carried in the Babylon
nothing shall be left saith the Lord and
all thy sons that shall issue from thee
which thou shalt beget shall they take
away and they shall be eunuchs in the
palaces of the king of Babylon then said
Hezekiah unto Isaiah good is the word of
the Lord which shall has spoken and he
said it is not good if peace if peace
and truth be in my days now what did we
just see there why is it that the
kingdom of Israel would later on be
destroyed because they brought the enemy
into their house they brought the enemy
on in and gave that which is precious to
them show them everything that was
precious to the enemy and you know what
that we can take this and learn from
this can't we that you should not be
bringing the enemy into your house
because if you do so it will destroy you
now number one tonight what is the
number one thing that almost every
single Christian has in their home that
is the enemy of God that will destroy
their house that will destroy their
family and you just said it right it's
the television you bring in those
godless shows and you show all those
things on the television that are
godless and listen the television can be
used for right there are some good
things that you can watch I mean namely
you can watch YouTube in what region
right I mean you can
want some good things on there but you
know what most Christians are not doing
that are they most Christians are
watching the football game and one that
watched a football game
then there's the cheerleaders that are
half dressed that look like a bunch of
whores that are on the sidelines shaping
their hips and don't be surprised then
if your kids grow up and they get into
pornography because you gave them a
taste for it you brought in that which
it would destroy your house you brought
in that which is the enemy of God and
you brought them into the home and it
destroyed your home don't be surprised
if your children grow up and because
they saw the commercials of the alcohol
and the TV they one day grow up and they
want to try it and then they become
hooked on it
and they become a drunkard don't be
surprised if it destroys your home
because you brought in the enemy into
the house you brought them on in and let
them see that in light of watch that and
put that pill too in front of their eyes
hey the Bible teaches us that we should
not put any wicked thing before my eyes
but timber the Christians today they're
watching NCIS they're watching the soap
operas they're watching all these other
shows out there then listen they're
watching shows there that glorify
heathens they're watching shows that
glorify drinking they're watching shows
that Gore by drunkenness they're
watching shows that glorify the drugs
shows that glorifies fornication that
glorify adulterers so you know what if
you bring that in that will destroy your
house as the enemy of God don't be
surprised if when your children grow up
they're fornicators don't be surprised
if when your children grow up they're
adults don't be surprised if someday
your very own husband or wife commits
adultery when you brought the enemy into
your house we need to be careful about
what we put before ice we need to make
sure that we're putting the Word of God
in our eyes and you know what men may be
a good thing to do would it be to put a
Bible verse right above that television
right
so every time you see that television
the Holy Spirit's reminding you maybe
put that Bible verse I will set in a
wicked thing before my eyes maybe you
put that up right there so every time
you see the television and turn it on
you're seeing the Word of God and the
Holy Ghost is reminding you of that and
convicting you about what you're about
to watch and you know what we need to
make sure listen my child until the day
comes that he is older we'll never have
a cell phone
until he requires it until he needs it
he will never have that until that day
and time but you know what we see all
these children out there today that they
have smartphones are you parents insane
are you crazy listen there used to be a
day at a time I remember as a child here
in preachers get up and rip and rayul
against the computer just simply about
that computer back when you had dial-up
internet anybody remember that you kids
don't know anything about that
remember the dial-up internet and you
would have to get on there and you'd
hear the baby baby all that dial-up
internet and it would take forever to
even come up and then you try to Google
somehow it wasn't even called Google
back then right Google didn't exist you
had AOL and all that stuff you get on
there trying to look something up and it
take forever for it to even come up but
preachers back then would rip and war
against the computer and say you know if
you're gonna have a computer in your
home it needs to be in an open room
password-protected and in a place where
everyone in the family can see it but
now what do we have now we have this
smartphone and it's a lot better than
that old computer was and you can look
up on this thing and you can see
pornography and you can watch TV shows
and you can watch movies and you can
look up all kinds of wickedness on this
thing right here and it's amazing when
these things came out and they came out
in the world all of a sudden the
preacher stopped preaching against it
you know why because the preachers had a
smartphone themselves
and you know what you need to be careful
about this thing right here it's a great
tool but you know it your children can
get in a lot of trouble with it you said
then you give that child a smartphone
foolishness is bound up in the heart of
a child and your that child doesn't have
the wherewithal to be able to resist
some of the temptations that are on this
device because you know what you get on
there and you get on Facebook and all of
a sudden an ad comes up on Facebook
that's wicked I have to blog companies
all the time I'll get on Facebook and
there will be some and advertising some
wicked thing and every time I'll hit
that button to block it until Facebook I
never want to see an ad from this
company ever again you need to be
careful about this device right here you
need to set some things and you need to
set some things in accordance and
especially your husband's and your wives
you know what make sure your wife has
your password if you got password on
there make it where she can get on there
at any time hey listen she shouldn't
have an excuse I mean she shouldn't have
a reason to not trust you so you know if
you just give her the password to it
she might trust you a little bit more
you need to be careful with this thing
right here because this device can get
you in a lot of trouble don't give your
ways to that which destroys kings you
sit there and you get into that and you
bring the enemy of God into your
household don't be surprised when it
destroys your family be careful about
that
don't give your ways to that witch
destroyeth Kings let's send a word of
Prayer and then we'll be dismissed here
tonight dear Heavenly Father we thank
for what you've given to us here this
evening Lord I asked you to help us to
take these things to search him out to
study them Lord that we would hear your
word and that we would just apply it to
our lives father or do we thank you for
all that you've done for us and lord I
ask that you bless our church that you
would add to us help us to see more soul
saved and Jesus Christ name I pray amen
