Youtube daily don May 5 2017

This is Peter, Peter has just finished high school

and moved to another city.

He loves criminals, basketball and playing guitar.

He would like to meet someone new

but his schedule is so tight...

He tried many applications to make friends

or even something more...

Unfortunately girls had not replied

to his messages.

Several conversations lasted weeks

but no real meeting was arranged.

Finally, Peter also noticed

some girls are using dating apps only for attention.

Here is Spagee.

Spagee is another swiping app

but there is no chat.

If you both say yes, then you can invite each other.

Concrete place and time, still no chatting.

Sounds not safe?

We have many verifications,

so you can decide

whether profile is trusted enough.

See you on Spagee.

Stay Calm - Don't Starve (Animatic) - Duration: 1:18.

There's a shadow on the wall; stay calm, stay calm

There's a figure in the hall; stay calm, stay calm

Keep my wits and stay alive Wish I had a 9 to 5

There's a stranger in us all; stay calm, stay calm

Every hair is on it's end; that's fine, I'm fine

Feeling my adrenaline; that's fine, I'm fine

I can keep away the creeps Safely from my swivel seat

Somethings crawling through the vent; that's fine, ...uh oh

There's a ghost in the machine; stay calm, stay calm

They are watching through the screen; stay calm, stay calm

They just might drive me crazy.

Hit me!

Teachers, When a Student Says they Don't Have Pen and Paper - Duration: 1:09.

You don't, you don't have pen and paper?

Well.... there Mowgli.

Why come prepared? Why? Why?

What is there some sort of backpack bandit?

It's like 2 o'clock

You just now realized it?

It's the only thing you need for every class, ever.

That's good. You can save paper now

then we save paper later when we don't print your diploma.

Hmm, what shall we do?

I'll work with ya.

We don't need pen and paper, we have smoke signals.

Look to the east!

On tonight's episode of Naked.... Without a Grade.

Hey dude, I know not everybody can afford pen and paper.

Just text me your assignment on your gold iPhone.

Why don't you use your telepathy...

Professor F.

Well, McDonald's applications are online so I guess you don't need to know how to use a pen.

I got it, we can play Charades ok?

Here, I'll start. One word, two syllables.

Sounds like...

"Retained". I suck at this, that's the word.

Me, My Mother & Our Maid - Kenny Sebastian | Don't Be That Guy - Duration: 3:56.

So my maid comes at 9:55 am.

And there is a correct way

of opening the door, when the maid comes.

It's less than one second of eye contact.

It's basically like this.

<Door bell rings>

That's it.

Got to keep it casual.

If you do anything less than

one second, it looks like you are pissed off for no reason.

<Door bell rings>

Don't do that.

That's rude.

But if you do anything

more than one second, things get a little weird.

Don't do that.

Don't be that guy, don't be creepy.

It gets very tense in my house.

When the holy trifecta happens.

Which is me, the maid and my mom.

It gets very tense.

It's like a mission impossible film.

Where only the mission matters.

Which is cleaning the goddamn house.

Everyone is just in the way man, the sofa, the house, the walls, oxygen...

She is just focused.

And then it's crazy like we're at home and I'm chilling at home.

I am chilling at home.

My mom catches me.

"Kenny, what are you doing?"

"Mom, I live here?"

"What are you doing in this room?"

"Existing?"

"Don't act smart with me Kenneth.

Where is the maid?"

"She is in the top floor."

- "So why are you not with her?"

I don't know, I just want to be single for a while.

"Why not with her in the room?"

"Why would I be with her in the room?'

"What if she steals the TV?!"

"She's been with us for 28 years, mom.

Why would she steal the TV?"

"I've heard stories.

Go watch her clean!"

Now I have to do this weird thing.

Where I enter the room.

To evaluate my maid's work.

I have no purpose of being there.

So I'm just walking like that.

My maid's like cleaning.

Don't let Sam Steele's name fool you | Canada 150 | 22 Minutes - Duration: 1:45.

Name is Sam Steele and I was the head of the Yukon Mounties during the Klondike Gold Rush.

And thanks to me it was one of the most orderly gold rushes in history.

See, no rowdies wanted to mess with Sam Steele.

I didn't need no gun.

Just a holster for Sir John A Fist Donald.

Ooof!

Yeah.

My left cross could make an ugly man pretty,

and then I'd throw an uppercut and make him ugly again.

I could sober up a drunk man from 50 metres just by showin' him Sir John

and givin' him a kiss.

And I was strong.

So strong, that when I threw out a Yankee crook

I'd slap a sombrero on 'em and throw 'em clean down to Mexico.

Couldn't be bribed cause I didn't need gold.

I just squeezed a handful of coal

make my own diamond.

Boy, I was tough.

I was so tough, I could do a hundred one-armed push-ups...with no hands.

So tough, I didn't belch, I shouted gas.

So tough, I beat the crap out of a bear, and then I bought that son of a bitch a drink at the saloon

cause he put up a better fight than most of 'em do.

Yeah. I'm Sam Steele.

But don't let the name fool you.

I ain't made of steel.

I'm made of the goddamn Rocky Mountains.

but I learn languages..that's why I'm good like this

how many do you know so far?

my first language is English and my second is Chinese.

I speak Mandarin and Cantonese..

really?

I speak Mandarin better than Somali and Twi

yea, because I've been studying it longer..I have more experience with it

for how long?

10 years

oh, wow..

I started when I was 18

Twi language?

no, Chinese

((SOMALI)) Chinese

it's very hard,right?

the writing is hard

oh,OK

but the grammar is easy...

like the Somali grammar?

it's easy?

no, it's hard..

and you were speaking like that, man?

but see the Somali grammar is similar to Japanese

oh, for real?

yea, it's the same structure..

man..

how about Twi?

Twi grammar isn't that hard

yea, because it's similar to English

yea, it's like English

but see Somali? It's like backwards..the verb is at the end of the sentence

wow, that's hard

Like if I wanted to say ''I will go to the store''

in English the verb is in the front, but im Somali it's like ''I store go''

wow

is it spelled like English too?

no, it's not spelled like English, it's different

see here's the thing though, I've been studying languages for a long time so I'm used to it

yea

you got a sharp brain,man..

we also say I'm going to the store

right

see that's like future AND I'm going

yea!

hhahahahahhaha

wow, that's some strange stuff..

((SOMALI)) ''I'm going''

that's the future..

or it can be 'I'm going now'

brother, how old are you?

((SOMALI)) Somali..

((SOMALI)) How old are you?

((SOMALI)) **33 Years old**

and how many languages do you know?

I'm a teacher

you're a teacher?

that's why you got a brain,man..

hahahhahaahhah

you got the time to do all of that..

it's years of work,man..years..

I'm 33 now, but I started learning languages when was 18

that's a long time..

that's a long time, for real..

you know what language learning is like?

it's like working out..lifting weights..

yea

if you lift weights for so long, you become strong..

that's what I've been doing with my brain over the years..just training it..

no, he's talking about practicing..

if you do it for so long...

I don't know how to say it in Somali yet..lol

you know Chinese like English, right?

Chinese?

I know Chinese better than English..

ahahahhhaa

are you for real?

probably better than English..

it's because your wife is from Taiwan?

no, it's not because of my wife...

it's because I've been doing it for so long and I practice a lot

wow,man..

you're a genius,bro

hahahhaa

I told you though, it's hard work..

you could do the same thing...look..

if you started when I started and kept doing it, you would be where I am now..

you would be doing the same thing...

yea, anything is possible. You could do it..for real..

((TWI)) What's your name?

Kennedy

oh, you already told me..

I'm sorry, you already told me..

my native name is Kwami

Kwami?

((SOMALI))For Somali...I didn't think I would see that

hahahahhahaa

((SOMALI)) Thanks, brother

((SOMALI)) You're welcome

((SOMALI)) Do you live in Columbus?

((SOMALI)) Yes.

place..how do you say place?

((SOMALI)) ''Please'' **He misunderstood the word I used. He though I meant place**

how do you say 'which place'?

Oh, I gave you the wrong word..

place means 'Mel'

so when you say which place, you say ''Meeshe''

oh, that's right

((SOMALI)) Which place do you like the best?

oh yea, that's very good

((SOMALI)) Which place do you like the best?

DAY. THEY VOTE WITH INVESTMENT

CHOICES EVERY DAY. THEY DON'T GET TO SIT BACK AND

TO THINK I CAN IGNORE WHAT'S HAPPENING IN WASHINGTON.

I CAN IGNORE THE PRESIDENT FOR FOUR YEARS AND THEN DECIDE FOUR

YEARS FROM NOW HOW I'M GOING TO VOTE NEXT TIME.

THEY VOTE EVERY DAY. THEY USUALLY HANG ON EVERY WORD

THE PRESIDENT SAYS. AND NOW THEY'RE CASTING THEIR

VOTES EVERY DAY ON WHAT THEY'RE INVESTING IN BY IGNORING THE

PRESIDENT? >> WHAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL ABOUT

WHAT YOU JUST SAID IS WHY MANY PEOPLE WERE ENTHUSED ABOUT

PRESIDENT TRUMP. THEY SAID PRESIDENT TRUMP IS

GOING TO GET US OUT OF THIS IDEOLOGUE SPACE, THIS WASHINGTON

GRIDLOCK. BECAUSE BUSINESSMEN, TRADERS,

WALL STREET GUYS ARE PRAGMATISTS.

THEY'VE GOT TO PLAY BALL EVERY DAY.

AND THEY THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A MAN OF ACTION.

SO YOU'RE RIGHT. RIGHT AFTER THE ELECTION THROUGH

THE TRANSITION YOU SAW A LOT OF WHIPPING MOVES.

HE WAS THE ONLY PRESIDENT WHO MOVED MARKETS BEFORE HE WAS

ELECTED. HE WOULD MENTION A COMPANY YOU.

WOULD SEE THE MARKET JUMP. BUT DAY IN AND DAY OUT, HE MAKES

THESE PROCLAMATIONS, WHETHER IT'S OVER TWITTER OR WHEN HE

SPEAKS AT THE MICROPHONE. AND QUICKLY, HIS OWN TEAM IS

QUALIFYING, RESTATING IT. AND THE MARKET IS SIMPLY SICK OF

IT. YOU KNOW, YOU SPOKE ABOUT THAT

WALL STREET LAWYER. THAT'S EXACTLY IT.

PEOPLE ARE SUDDENLY SAYING YOU YOU'VE KNOW WHAT?

WE'LL HOLD ON. WHEN HE SAID TWO DAYS AGO HE

WOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER BREAKING THE BANKS UP, AT ANY

OTHER TIME, YOU WOULD SEE THE T BANK INDEX DROP LIKE A STONE.

IT WENT DOWN FOR A BIT. AND IT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY

RECOVERED. BECAUSE THIS IS A MAN WHO MAKES

A LOT OF NOISE. AND WE'VE YET TO SEE MUCH ACTION

IN HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR FIRST 100 DAYS.

HE KEPT TALKING ABOUT OPTIMISM. OPTIMISM IS A FEELING.

AND HE HAS CREATED A FEELING OF OPTIMISM ON THE STREET.

BUT THAT SURE AIN'T AN ACCOMPLISHMENT.

>> STEPHANIE, THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN SOME VOICES IN WASHINGTON

WHO CAN MOVE MARKETS. ALWAYS THE CHAIR OF THE FEDERAL

RESERVE. ALWAYS WALL STREET HANGS ON

EVERY WORD. SOMETIMES THE CHAIRMAN WAYS AND

MEANS, THE FINANCE COMMITTEES, THE TAX WRITING COMMITTEES, BUT

ONLY WHEN THEY HAVE A TAX BILL ACTIVELY MOVING THROUGH THE

COMMITTEES DOES WALL STREET HANG ON EVERY WORD THAT THEY SAFE.

BUT IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT WALL STREET

HANGS ON EVERY WORD THE PRESIDENT SAYS THAT IS RELEVANT

TO THEM. AND THE PRESIDENT IS BASICALLY

INSTRUCTED ON THAT ON DAY ONE AND FEELS THE PRESSURE OF BEING

REALLY CAREFUL IN EVERYTHING THAT THE PRESIDENT SAYS BECAUSE

OF THAT PRESSURE. DONALD TRUMP OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T

FEEL THE PRESSURE, AND WALL STREET HAS ADAPTED.

>> LAWRENCE, YOU HAVE NAILED IT. WHEN THE FED CHAIR SPEAKS, HE OR

SHE UNDERSTANDS THE WEIGHT OF THEIR WORDS.

AND THEY COULDN'T BE MORE CAREFUL OR PRIVATE DOWN TO THE

LAST MOMENT. THE PRESIDENT LOVES THAT HE CAN

SWING THINGS AROUND. AND THE FACT THAT YOU'RE GETTING

LESS AND LESS VOLATILITY OFF OF HIS REMARKS, HE IS NOT GOING TO

LIKE THAT. IT'S ALSO GOING TO BE HARDER FOR

HIM TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THESE BOOMING MARKETS.

IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE POSITIVE MOMENTUM, YOU'VE GOT

GREAT CORPORATE EARNINGS. JOBS ARE GOOD.

THIS IS THE CONTINUOUS MOMENTUM WE'VE GOTTEN SINCE PRESIDENT

OBAMA WAS ELECTED.D. HAS GDP BEEN SLOW?

HAS GROWTH BEEN SLOW? SURE.

AND THE IDEA THAT WE HAVE A PRO BUSY PRESIDENT AND DEREGULATION

IS EXCITING. BUT WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING

EXCEPT EXECUTIVE ORDERS WRITTEN. AND THE ONLY THING EXECUTIVE

ORDERS ARE REASON TO WRITE A REPORT.

THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING. >> YEAH, THERE IS ONE PRICE

WATERHOUSE REPORT INDICATING MAKES SOME PREDICTIONS ABOUT THE

TRUMP AGENDA. ONE OF THEM SAYS EXECUTIVE

ORDERS WILL YIELD FEW RESULTS. THEY ALSO PREDICT THAT

DODD/FRANK WILL NOT BE REPEALED. LOW EXPECTATION FOR CHANGE.

MIDTERMS THEY SAY WILL PUT THE BRAKES ON FURTHER ACTION BECAUSE

THOSE CONGRESSIONAL ELECTIONS ARE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO GO

PRESIDENT TRUMP'S WAY. >> THERE IS A VERY STRONG CHANCE

THAT THAT IS THE CASE. AND THE ONE THING TO REMEMBER,

YOU MENTIONED EARLIER, TRADERS HAVE TO PLAY BALL EVERY DAY

THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CORPORATION SAYING

BASED ON PRESIDENT TRUMP'S PROMISES, I'M HIRING 10,000

PEOPLE. I'M BUILDING A FACTORY.

TRADERS CAN BUY ON NEWS AND SELL ON NEWS.

THEY'RE IN COMPLETELY LIQUID MARKETS.

SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE ACTUAL MARKET, IT IS NOT A DIRECT

REFLECTION ON WHAT THE ECONOMY LOOKS LIKE.

IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS SO MANY PEOPLE WERE FRUSTRATED IN THE

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WHEN OBAMA SAID WE'VE HAD SUCH A STRONG

RECOVERY. WELL, IT WAS STRONG IN CITIES

LIKE NEW YORK, L.A., CHICAGO. BUT OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY,

THAT WASN'T THE CASE. SO NOW WHEN THE PRESIDENT IS

TAKING ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS BOOMING ECONOMY, YOU'RE NOT

NECESSARILY GOING TO SAY YEAH, MR. TRUMP, THAT'S ALL RELATED TO

YOU. IT'S NOT THE CASE.

>> STEPHANIE RUHLE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR JOINING US

TONIGHT. AND OF COURSE STEPHANIE WILL BE

IN THE ANCHOR CHAIR H

2017 Distinguished Alumni Award: Don Flow (MBA '83) - Duration: 5:22.

I love that he is always, honestly, it's

not that cup is always half full - it's like full.

So he has all this positive energy.

I love the way that he always sees

possibilities where people see obstacles.

Don and I met at UVA. We both took the

same class. We were in Psych 101. Our

professor was showing a film, so the lights

went down and I pull out and take a big

bite of my apple, right when the noise

level of the film went down. And Don, who

is sitting in front of me, turned around

and looked at me. He had this gorgeous

brown curly hair and he was just kind of

mysterious-looking, so I was very

intrigued by his rugged handsome good

looks and thought, "I gotta get to know

this guy." He's as intentional and

thoughtful about every aspect of raising

his kids, at each step of the way, as he

is about any other area of his life, so

you can imagine the way he and Robbin

have poured themselves into their kids.

He cares for them deeply and supports them

and is available to them and encourages

them as they pursue their own lives and

their own endeavors, and he would do anything for them.

My favorite thing about my

father is his enthusiasm. Everything that

he does involves a level of enthusiasm

that very few people can match.

A lot of leaders are really, really intelligent

and really, really driven, but he also has

an amazingly deep understanding of the

human condition. He really understands

what motivates people, what affects people.

More than anyone I've ever seen,

Don brings an overall philosophy to

what should a for-profit corporation be

in modern society and how can it serve

this flourishing of the overall community?

His faith permeates every area of his life.

It's the central part. I mean,

it ekes out into every part of his life,

very intentionally.

He talks about a covenant with customers to treat them

right, to be trustworthy, he talks about a

community of people who work together

towards a common vision, and he talks

about a commitment to work toward the

common good of every community in which the company is involved.

Community is very important to him. He understands

that there's a symbiotic relationship

between what the community, what you can

give the community, and also what you can

get from community, but it has to be a give and take.

He was part of the group

of young businessman early in this

century, who said, 'downtown has to be revived'

and they took on the Nissen building.

These people actually put up their own

capital to make that work, and in some

ways that was the beginning of the

revitalization of downtown Winston-Salem.

Don has made a huge commitment, I think, to

devote his life towards taking the place

where he grew up, and a place where it

has had hard times, and making it better.

He said, "I've got this concept. I want to

purchase a professional tennis

tournament and bring it to Wake Forest

And would like to build a tennis

facility for that tennis tournament that

would probably be very beneficial to

your tennis programs as well.

I think there are 40 of those tournaments around the world,

and to be recognized as the most

outstanding tournament has created great

exposure, national and international

exposure, for Winston-Salem. It's created

great economic impact, but the thing Don

values most is the the energy it's brought

to the community. And Don has always felt,

he doesn't want it to be the Flow

Tournament - he wants it to be the

Winston-Salem Open. He always insists on

it being the community's tournament. It's

not all about him, it's all about what

the event, or what the organization, or

what the charity can do

for our community that's important.

He sees Wake Forest as probably a

leading edge of helping the economy be

built here in Winston-Salem. And so it's

a rising tide kind of situation as Wake's

future goes up, so it goes up to the

futures of Winston-Salem.

My father

understands that universities have the

power to change lives, both for the

students and for the surrounding

communities. His being on the board, he

has loved the interaction with all the

folks at Wake itself but then

additionally, all the board members.

He just is a natural leader and so whether

it's on our board, whether it's in this

community, Don just emerges as a leader.

Wake's mission, Pro Humanitate, has

resonated with who he is.

He's a person of a vision and passion, but with that,

he's personally compassionate and caring.

And it's that unique combination that

makes Don so effective. I count Don as a

tremendous friend, but he's one of my

heroes too.. Thank you so much for what you

have done for Wake Forest and for the

Winston-Salem community. And thank you

for being my friend. You make us all want

to be better people and you've helped make

Wake Forest an amazing place and I know

this is just the beginning, so thank you.

Don't just survive. Live. - Duration: 6:33.

(melancholic piano music)

- [Voiceover] I am from

a little city in Mexico

and it went from being very peaceful

into becoming, basically, a war zone.

There were shootings happening outside my house.

There...

People I knew got killed.

It was very difficult.

My dad decided that we,

we had to come to the United States

because it was safe here.

- So, after high school I went to community college

for a little while.

I realized that it didn't work too well for me.

I was going to be an auto tech.

And I decided to

to give up with that and I joined,

I went to bootcamp and joined the Marine Corps.

I was a pretty shy kid throughout high school,

so that really pushed me out of my comfort zone.

It pushed me physically and mentally.

And then I got a letter in the mail

about using my GI Bill, so,

I thought it was a good time to go for it,

so I looked in the metro and

I saw that MSU Denver had a lot of (mumbles)

veteran students, a lot of options.

- [Voiceover] It took me a while to realize that, like,

I really cared about people that were like-minded to me,

and I really care about diversity and inclusivity.

And just, like, representing underrepresented populations.

So, marginalized persons like I myself am

and people in my community.

And so MSU Denver seemed like a natural fit.

Did you have enough for a discussion?

Um, so, I'm queer.

And that's always been,

growing up that was a little hard to be.

It's challenging, being not only queer,

but a person of color on top of that.

So it was difficult trying to grow up

and navigating where I fit in living in white spaces,

being a person of color and queer.

- I was born in Morelos, Mexico,

which is a state in the South,

two hours away from Mexico City.

And I moved to Colorado when I was six.

Going to college, and graduating,

I knew it wasn't impossible,

but it did seem like a dream that was really far out there.

My parents brought me here

because they wanted a better future for me,

and the only thing they asked about,

for me was to be a good student.

And that's what I did, I was a good student.

And I got good grades,

and I joined programs,

and I did community service,

and I had my perfect resume.

But the only thing that I didn't have

was a social security number.

- Language.

Was my biggest challenge.

I couldn't read and

my first class was very heavy on reading.

So, it will take me hours to just finish a chapter.

And this professor, she helped me very much.

She will go over grammar,

and sentence structure,

verb conjugation,

and she will take her time

to really teach me how to write English,

and to really understand the concepts.

That meant the world to me.

I do want to do

a master's in Public Administration.

I,

I really,

believe that,

I,

I can help students.

That have faced the same challenges

that I faced.

- So I mean,

when I transferred here I changed completely

from Psychology to Journalism.

And then it was in my first semester here

that I decided to take on a Gender and Sexualities minor.

Mainly, anything that'll let me

really just, like, write,

and continue work with my minor.

So, like, minority, LGBTQ, things like that,

very intersectional work.

And then just discuss these two questions?

I think that it was,

although challenging at times,

I think that it provided a lot of opportunities

to really connect with things that I wasn't aware about

within my own identity, and with other people.

And so I would say overall,

that it was a very transformative experience.

- I got one.

My name is Sage Gonzales,

I majored in marketing.

I am also

Like I said, I was a shy

person in high school.

So I really wanted to push myself

and see what I was capable of,

and I figured Marketing was probably one of the best ways

to present a lot

and to grow my confidence in myself

and also to dip my toes in everything else business related.

The problem I saw is that we have

created a system where we've

taken away ant dignity from animals

for the,

for the purpose of profit.

If there's ethical marketing we can

start to see a lot more focus on these ethical products.

A lot of people don't see

guys who are football in high school

and in the Marine who are

advocating for animal rights,

but I thought that was something amazing

that I was able to do while here.

Yeah, I definitely see there's an opportunity

for something I could do in the future.

- As I said, I grew up as an undocumented student.

When I was in high school I found out

that I was gonna have to pay out-of-state tuition.

And I started to get involved

in passing Colorado ASSET.

I started to share my story at the capital

and was involved with a non-profit,

and started to do a lot of work in activism.

I was here when the board of trustees at the vote

the year before ASSET passed.

And then,

I was also here when the governor signed the bill here.

When I shared my story I would say that

if Colorado ASSET passed,

that was the best graduation gift that I could get.

And now I will be crossing another graduation gift.

And people ask me,

"How are you gonna do that?"

"How are you gonna practice law if you're undocumented?"

And I don't know.

I didn't know how I was gonna go to college,

and get through four years, and graduate.

But I'm going to.

- When I started here, I wanted to be invisible, basically.

And I,

I told myself,

"You're going to graduate some day,"

"but no one will know that you,"

"ever existed at this school, probably."

And then many things,

happened.

- Please join me

in congratulating Ariadna Ochoa Magallanes,

recipient of the 2016 President's Award.

(applause)

- I was not expecting everything that's happened to me.

At some point in my life,

I was afraid of getting killed.

And I was afraid of speaking,

and sharing my opinions.

I conquered those fears.

I decided that I was going to live,

not just survive.

Don't just survive.

Live.

Congratulations, Class of 2016.

We did it.

(applause)

When the Liberals don't listen, it costs you - Duration: 1:15.

Mr. Speaker, as much as these Liberals claim to be "consulting" and "listening", over at

the Finance Committee witness after witness, including the Liberal's own witnesses, told

us they were not consulted before the Liberals forced their mortgage changes onto Canadians.

Had the Liberals bothered to listen to the industry, they'd know that the issues facing

companies such as Home Capital are very serious.

When will the Finance Minister start listening to the experts from the Canadian

mortgage industry?

Time Management: I Don't Have Time To Improve My Life - Duration: 8:13.

Hey, guys.

Sylvester Morgan here with SylvesterMorgan.com.

Each one of us is blessed with 31,536,000 seconds per year.

There are 24 hours in a day.

Each one of us has the same 168 hours per week.

How do you spend your time?

Do you know what percentage of that time is spent sleeping?

How many of those hours are spent working?

How many of those hours are spent traveling to and from work?

How much of that time do you spend with family and friends and loved ones, or things that

are really important to you?

How much of that time is taken or consumed on watching TV or movies, or just scrolling

through your social media?

One of the number one obstacles or reasons that people give for not learning a new skillset

or growing in their career is that they don't have time.

"I just don't have time."

You may be following my channel and thinking, "That would be really nice to learn how to

code.

That sounds really interesting, but I just don't have time for it."

In this video, I'm going to share some things that really helped me with time management

and hopefully you find these helpful as well.

I understand that we all have really busy lives, but I do understand what it's like

to feel like you don't have time.

When I taught myself software development, my wife and I were married and we had children,

and I was working a full-time job and I was on mandatory overtime.

I can speak to this just a little bit.

The first thing that will be really helpful will be to find out where you currently spend

your time.

If you're going to learn how to manage your time better, then you first need to learn

how you spend your time.

You need to gain awareness of that.

I like to do this in Microsoft Excel.

I've also done it with pen and paper.

Do it with whatever method works best for you.

Across the left side of the paper, go ahead and write down in 30 minute increments the

time from when you wake up to when you go to sleep.

The earliest time you wake up during the week and then the latest time that you go to sleep.

For me, I wake up at 5:30 AM, so I'll just start at 5 AM, and then write down one row

for 5 AM, a row for 5:30, 6 AM, 6:30, 7 AM, 7:30 and so on, all the way to about 11 PM.

OK, so the next thing you do is write columns across the top, one for each day of the week.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

This is going to give you visibility into how you spend that 168 hours per week.

Start off filling in the things that change the least frequently from week to week, to

those things that do vary from week to week.

For me, I would start off each day I can go ahead and fill in wake up at 5:30.

Then I can fill in what time I go to sleep each night.

The next thing, I have a pretty consistent work schedule, so I can fill in what time

I plan on arriving to work and what time I plan on leaving.

Then I know my commute is about 50 minutes, so I can put 50 minutes before and after that

block of work time.

I can also go ahead and fill in a half an hour or an hour for lunch each day at work.

Now I can go ahead and fill in other things.

For me personally, I spend 2 or 3 hours after work each day after I get home having dinner

with my family and then spending time with my wife and children.

I'll set aside at least 30 minutes to do some kind of physical exercise each day, and then

set aside some time 4 days out of the week to lift weights.

I don't work on Saturdays, so I can set aside this time to do work around the house and

yardwork and spend time with family.

For my family, Friday nights or Saturday nights are family night, so I'll set aside that block

of time.

When I first did this, I noticed that I had a lot more time than I thought I did.

This exercise is really helpful in pointing that out because a lot of people think that

they spend their time so wisely, that they don't waste any time, when if they do this

exercise, they'll find that they actually do.

It's just like when you keep a budget.

I know so many people that think they don't spend money on anything they don't need, but

when they go and look at their bank statement and then do a budget, they find that they're

spending so much money on fast food and eating out and money here and there and it really

adds up.

People always ask me, "How do you have time?

You have 4 daughters, you have a wife- how do you have time to make YouTube videos, to

write your book, to continue learning on PluralSight?"

But when I did this exercise, here's what I found.

I found that every evening other than the evenings that we have family night, I have

about 2 or 3 hours to make use of.

Then I have additional time on the weekend.

I found that I actually have anywhere from 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on how

busy the week is.

This is with a wife and children, without neglecting time with them, without neglecting

time with family and friends.

And I still have 10 to 20 hours per week.

Do you know how much you can accomplish in that time?

Something else that I found is that I spend about 8 1/2 hours each week commuting- 8 1/2

hours driving in the car or sitting on the shuttle.

I can choose to use this time listening to the radio, or I can choose this time to listen

to an audiobook and learn something new.

I'm also spending 30 minutes to an hour each day on lunch, so what am I doing with this

time?

So what I hope you'll see when you do this exercise is that you do really have more time

than you think to do things and make the best use of the time.

This is for those of you who feel like you're stuck in a situation.

You're in a job you hate or you need to increase your income or something.

You have to get out of a tough situation.

Then you can really have a really disciplined schedule to get out of that situation more

quickly.

If you're in a situation where you are enjoying your career and you're just looking to grow

a little bit or make a little better use of your time, then you may be thinking that having

such a disciplined schedule is a little bit too much.

This is not about overworking or being a workaholic.

Resting and being refreshed and spending time having fun and spending time with friends

and family- these things are very important also.

And by going through this exercise, you can actually just take command of the time, how

you spend it.

You can make sure that you fit those things into your schedule, that you make sure that

you do make time for those things that are important.

So I'll end by sharing a couple of tips that have helped me.

One of the biggest time wasters- I don't even remember what the stats are- but the amount

of time that people spend watching TV is something ridiculous.

So my wife and I have decided not to have a TV in our home, and this is just so that

we can spend our time doing things that mean more to us, that are more important to us.

Now we do spend our time during family night, for example, watching something online or

finding a movie that we enjoy, but not having a TV has really helped me personally.

One other cool tip is if you listen to audio books, if you learn by listening to audio

books, or if you do online developer training like PluralSight, there is a feature to watch

things at double speed or time and a half or even triple speed.

I found that I can pretty much understand things just as easily by watching them at

double speed.

So for example, if I'm using that 8 hours of commute time to listen to audio books,

that actually translates into 16 hours of audiobooks.
