New S'mores Girl Scout Cookies Are Here to Celebrate 100 Years of Profitable Cookies

This year marks 100 years of cookie sales

To celebrate a century of Girl Scout selling cookies, a new duo of flavors is now ready to make its way to homes across America,

these ones derived from the old-school mystique of the campfire. The s'mores cookies (two kinds!)

are both mixes of graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate,

supplying Girl Scout's signature satisfying crunch and sugar rush.

They taste great, too: one type, coated in chocolate, offers a decidedly sweet, chocolate-forward treat,

while the other, with its cracker exterior, is reminiscent of an animal cracker with a double layer of filling.

(It's also vegan.) They will be available in select markets this year;

the version you get will vary depending on which baker your local troop contracts with.

But the real news is the celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies. The first sales harken back to 1917

and the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where the girls sold batches of cookies out of their high school cafeteria. In 1922,

American Girl magazine included a sugar cookie recipe with the suggestion that the sweets be sold for 25 to 30 cents a dozen.

Now, of course, Girl Scout cookies are ubiquitous nationally—and are baked not by the troops themselves, but by commercial bakers,

a trend kicked off in 1936 to supply growing demand. And it's serious business: the girls generate nearly $800 million in sales annually from 50 million households,

according to Girl Scouts of the USA, the full net revenue from which goes towards the activities of the local troops. (About 1 million active Girl Scouts are involved.)

"The Girl Scout Cookie Program has long been the engine that powers Girl Scouts on every level,"

said interim Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo.

The s'mores are the latest in the now 12-cookie lineup, joining beloved classics like Thin Mints

and Samoas in continuing the organization's long-lasting traditions—and popularity with the public.

So when a Girl Scout comes knocking this season, be prepared to update your order.

and I must say that it's fun, therefore I would like to continue learning Macedonian with him

before I started learning Macedonian, I made a video on the internet telling people that I was going to start learning Macedonian in the future

then Alex contacted me through email saying that he could help me with Macedonian

so, I practice the language very often with him through Skype

and it's fun, although it's very easy

I lost my 7 children. Here's how I continue. - Duration: 5:11.

When I was a teenager my mother died and our family just didn't feel like a family anymore.

So all I wanted my whole life was to have a big family with lots of love and warmth.

So I got married to a beautiful woman and gave my all to raise my family.

I had the family of my dreams.

Eight beautiful children that were so pure and full of life, with lots of joy and love.

I was the happiest person in the world.

I would always make sure to spend the Sabbath, the Jewish day of rest, with them.

My wife would light candles every Friday evening to usher in the holy day and I would go to

the synagogue with my older children.

When I returned, I would be joyfully greeted by my family - all freshly bathed and dressed

up for the Sabbath.

I would make a blessing over the wine, then bless each member of my family and give them

a warm hug and a kiss.

And then we would partake in the festive meal, with each child having his turn to speak,

sharing what they had learned that week.

We would sing songs together and just enjoy each other's company while being embraced

by the love and warmth that I had always been looking for.

Then for some reason, one day, I made an exception and I agreed to leave my family for the Sabbath.

That Friday night, when everyone was sound asleep, after having a beautiful evening,

a fire broke out in our house.

The fire spread throughout the house in minutes.

Being a day of rest, my phone was turned off.

The police were looking for me all night and found me in the morning.

They told me that there was a fire in my house, my wife and daughter are in the hospital.

They took me to the police station.

My sister's husband showed up with a Rabbi and a medic.

My brother in law told me that the other seven children all perished.

I couldn't even cry, I just fell on the floor and just started to scream my head off.

I lost track of time - just screaming and screaming, because the pain was so intense.

It wasn't just the fact that I had lost everything that I had cared about and strived for my

whole life.

It was that these children were just so precious.

In the middle of all that screaming I hear the Rabbi tell me to stop and get up.

So I did.

Then the medic approached.

He wanted to inject me with a calming agent.

I told him to go away.

I don't want it.

I wasn't about to go numb and hide from the challenge.

My dear kids gave me their final gift with their passing.

It was the greatest gift that they could have given me - an opportunity to grow.

I had to overcome in order not to waste their lives.

Life is full of challenges and they are all opportunities to grow.

When faced with a challenge we have a choice.

Either we embrace the challenge and grow, or we resist and we suffer.

The more we resist the more we suffer.

If you insist that life must be your way and you fight reality because you want to stay

in your comfort zone and you don't want to take responsibility for your life, then

you'll end up suffering.

You may become angry or depressed or you may just go numb and apathetic.

You can give up or you can blame others or even the world.

The choice is clear.

So how did I cope?

How did I manage?

How was I able to get up when the Rabbi told me to do so?

The answer is in what I said by the eulogy for my dear children.

Surrender.

I surrendered myself to God.

I surrendered myself to His will.

I let go of everything that was dear to me, otherwise I would have broken.

When one nullifies his ego, then you have access to the divine, you become unlimited.

Your consciousness expands as the filter called "me" is removed.

And you can see solutions to situations that you didn't see before.

When you surrender, by definition, there is no resistance and therefore, there is no more suffering.

A miracle occurs.

Surrendering is not a one time thing – the negative emotions and the despair keeps coming

back.

And I have to constantly surrender by feeling the emotions and letting them pass through

me.

God tailor-makes our unique challenges for each one of us.

And He is also there to help us through it.

But it has to be our choice, otherwise there is no reason for us to be in this world.

God gives us challenges so that we can grow and reveal His greatness.

He wants us to become great as well.

He wants to take us to a greater place than we ever thought possible.

To a life that is much greater than we wanted for ourselves.

For me it's clear – the only way is to trust in God.

Then you connect to the infinite and everything becomes possible

Trade is important, so we need more

trade agreements between countries.

Actually, that is Dead Wrong.

We need more trade.

But do we really need more trade agreements?

Over the last 20 years, we have

signed almost 4 times more regional

trade agreements than over the 50 years before.

And yet, trade has grown slower over this period.

One reason is that these trade

agreements come with complicated

rules of origins, and preferential treatments.

And since every product contains

components from tons of different countries,

the result is overlapping and costly rules.

The trade economist Jagdish

Bhagwati has likened this resulting

crisscrossing of tariffs and

barriers to a bowl of spaghetti.

You can't untangle this.

We don't have to swallow this bureaucracy.

We can have world trade agreements,

where every country treats the others the same.

Or even better, we can unilaterally

abolish all these tariffs that hurt us so much.

If other countries deny themselves

the freedom to choose from a bigger menu,

then it's not retaliation if you do the same.

It's just a way to spoil your dinner.

If You Use Facebook Messenger, Here�s How You�re Being Recorded Even When You�re

Not Using Your Phone.

There are many ups and downs about improvements in technology. We have, undoubtedly, become

more enamoured with its ability to make our lives easier, and more informed in ways we

never thought possible. Everything has been digitized, and there are so many forms of

communication, it�s no wonder the home telephone has collected dust.

People have come to see multi-tasking as a virtue, and so have required companies to

make communication easier and faster. Facebook Messenger, for instance, has become a powerful

tool for people to connect with each other. It was discovered back in April that 900 million

people use Messenger every month, and millions of them are chatting with strangers, friends,

family, and getting in touch with businesses. Essentially, information, valuable and personal,

is being shared.

The idea seems harmless, but now, a warning is circulating that if you have messenger,

you should get rid of it. Then, after you delete it, re-download it and read the terms

of agreement.

We�ve long known there are a lot of things the average Facebook user misses when it comes

to protecting themselves, simply because there is a lot going on, and also because not everyone

is privy to their privacy. But when you realize that the social media giant is purposefully

tricking you into being spied on, things feel a bit more personal.

Cellphone users who try to install the Facebook Messenger app must agree to terms of service

in order for the company to access your microphone on their device and subsequently record audio

at any given moment without your knowledge or permission.

Once you zoom in, you can see that users are prompted to accept an agreement that specifically

states Facebook will �record audio with the microphone � at any time without your

confirmation.� Other terms include allowing them to take videos and pictures using the

phone�s camera, and directly calling numbers that could result in charges. Even more alarming

is Facebook can also read your phone�s call log, as well as access data about contacts

stored on your phone, most notably the frequency of calls you�ve made, emailed, or communicated

in other forms to certain individuals.

Most people skip over the TOS in order to get to their destination quicker, but this

is a perfect example of how companies take advantage of this knowledge for their own

benefit. The result, in this case, is Facebook monitoring people around the clock.

Facebook has given a response to concerns regarding the app here. This has also trickled

into the mainstream, as so many people have been commenting on it all over the internet.

Other companies are also requiring people to allow them to approximate your location,

and basically have full network access to communications. There are so many examples

that they are hard to count, and most of the effort to create awareness about this type

of thing comes from people like Edward Snowden.

For example, have you heard of Allo? According to Edward Snowden, if you want to avoid giving

law enforcement the green light to check out all your communications, don�t use it. It�s

a Google app that records every message you ever send and makes it available to police

upon request,� the whistleblower tweeted.

Tech giant Google has been working hard to infiltrate the virtual chatting world, launching

Spaces, Duo, and most recently, Allo, all in the past couple of months.

More Memos to Myself \\ Jason .Rivera - Duration: 5:01.

So I had something to talk about today but the thing is I did not write it down anywhere

And what happens when you do not write things down is you forget them.

So what I am going to do today is tell you all of the things that I have written down

in my memos here I have done this video before but there are hundreds more Memos in here

that I think are kind of hysterical so I am going to read more of these okay, this one

just says December 5 3 o'clock.

I started writing this thing where I was going to make a video about it but there is not

enough stuff to write so it's just kind of an open-ended thing so I will type out haha

all the time and texting all the time almost every single message I will see haha or I

will say if hahahahaha I wanted to really convey that I am really laughing no I am probably not

laughing I also write a Gnighters I never say this in person I will never ever other

than right now say gnighters in person I won't but if I am texting someone I will

say gnighters for no reason and then also I write ellipses all the time and I guess that works all the

time then saying like what I just did like that...

I guess that works but overall I started making this life hacks memo and I only have one thing

on it and it's putting out candles with the lid or a coaster so if you put the lid on

top of it the candle will die out because it has no oxygen to pull from anymore so it

dies out and then the smoke clouds up inside at the little glass things so there is no

smoke that goes out in the air and you still have the candle smell instead of the smell

that smoke everywhere also by doing that you don't get any of the black stuff that like

floats inside of the wax so there you go there is a life hack for you...I... I also have

a memo that says 203.10

there is 1827 I just don't get how I think that I am going to remember what I mean

later I just don't know my gosh so because I say hi guys or say hello everyone in my

videos often I was calling Walmart and someone says hi this is the deli how can I help you

and then I legitimately without thinking about it just said hi guys oh no and then I just

kept going with the conversation but that was the weirdest thing ever and yeah I actually

said hi guys to a woman in the deli section and then she continued to call me ma'am because

like every single phone call I am on I get called ma'am I don't even think that I

was trying to make this into a video I think I just wanted to write this for myself it

says two dreams at a time with a few on the side and then I said ASL which is being an

ASL interpreter then YouTube sensation I want to be a YouTube sensation it's true I am not

like freaking out that it needs to happen right now I just do want it to happen

in my future and then also the few on the side is writing a book getting a promotion

which actually apparently I wrote this a while ago sorry I just read forward and started

laughing and then the last one is not dying so so far so good oh my gosh I have like a

list of things that I want this in this camera this camera is lovely thank you so much for

being there camera.

But I do want a better camera in the future I want one that I can see the screen so I

am working on that slowly slowly slowly but surely Alabama Shakes apparently I like a

song or two of them and I never look them up so I told myself to you and I still haven't

I will read some of it right now just know that this is a stupid video idea that I will

never ever make because it is just I cannot I cannot adult thing thing problem with Jason

Rivera already starting off amazing credit vs. credit hours you would think that credit

and credit hours would be the same thing it because they both have the word credit well

that is what I thought as well it is a thing you have for money when you are talking about

credit when you are talking about credits can only can be very important this means

that I was writing this at like midnight and I could not get this idea out of my head for

some reason so I had to write about it and this none of it makes sense coconut analogy

coconuts are like really bad tasting onions I don't even like the taste of onions I don't

know what 345 movies that I wanted to watch and this was in January of 2015 and they are

called big eyes Pride Normal Heart Theory of Everything and then the beginning Ellen's

special that is all I have for you guys this week I do not know if you guys enjoyed me

reading these but there is no more on here so until like a couple of years from now no

more stuff from absolutely nothing I'm getting a new phone soon so maybe that is what I will

get new phone memos and then we will start again from there. The somethingest thing that happened

o me this week is taking all of my Christmas stuff down I swear to God the garland

that was up there drove me nuts when I was taking it down because it is on my floor now

and have a vacuum yet no.
