Which birth control is the most environmentally friendly? - Duration: 4:16.

We're going to rank all these forms of birth control in three categories:

Waste,

Effectiveness,

and... Right for Me?

And we'll tell you how to weigh each category as we go.

Hello!

It's me, Umbra.

Your favorite environmental advice columnist.

In spirit of the season, we've chosen some sexy questions to answer today.

When I say, "sexy," I mean they're literally about sex!

Ooooh!

Let's see what we've got!

[whimsical music. A xylophone!]

"What's the most environmentally friendly form of birth control?"

NOW we're talking!

But this is a surprisingly tricky question.

There's a lot to take into account when you're measuring the environmental impact

of various kinds of birth control.

Let's talk about waste first:

There's the trash you see, the trash you're reducing, and the trash you never see.

Most forms of birth control create at least a little bit of trash.

But hormonal forms -- such as IUDs or the Ring -- create less waste than, say, condoms.

These methods also lower menstrual bleeding -- and the tampons, pads, or cups needed for

it -- by about 50 percent on average.

At the same time, when we take hormonal birth control and pee

(we all pee, it's fine) trace hormones flush into our waterways and

can screw with aquatic ecosystems.

But there are so many chemicals in our wastewater that can do that.

Even natural hormones!

So birth control is certainly not the sole culprit -- or even a significant contributor.

But just to be safe, we'll acknowledge a little impact there.

You can see that condoms are some of the most wasteful, but they're also the only form

that reliably protects against STIs.

That's something to keep in mind!

And in reality, all this birth control-related waste probably makes up just a little bit

of your footprint.

The most significant way to reduce your impact on the environment is to prevent a pregnancy

you don't want.

Raising a child is a huge decision in every regard -- emotionally, financially, environmentally.

You want to be as prepared as you can be to do it.

So effectiveness is more important than waste when you're choosing an environmentally

friendly birth control!

Here are the rankings of contraception methods according to effectiveness, with normal use

(over a 5-year time period) So say you want to use the fertility awareness

method because you don't need to take anything or throw anything away.

But statistically, it's not very effective at preventing pregnancy.

Unfortunately, this ranking doesn't acknowledge the fact that not everyone is able to choose

from all these options.

"Historically, the reproductive rights movement was kind of trying to do a one-size fits all

solution, when not every community has access and not every community faces the same institutional

barriers."

Say you'd like to get an IUD because it's one of the most effective forms of contraception.

But maybe you don't have access to a clinic to deal with any problems that may arise,

like pain or displacement.

And maybe you're not sure you'll have insurance when you have to get the IUD removed.

To that end, a really effective birth control is one that works best for you.

Maybe you don't like hormones.

Maybe you want a method you can stop and start yourself.

Maybe you want someone who remembers you don't like pineapple!

(Sorry.

We're talking about birth control.)

Currently, about 45 percent of all pregnancies in the United States are unintended.

That's not because women are irresponsible.

That's because there are a lot of barriers involving money and access that keep women

from robust reproductive healthcare in the United States.

The best way to approach the question of environmentally friendly contraception is to trust people

to decide for themselves how many children they want, and to give them the tools to make

those decisions.

Thanks for joining me for this extra-sexy chat!

Happy [informative family plan]-ing!

Stats show which Premier League clubs have been punished the most for diving this season - Duration: 4:30.

Football News24/7  Diving has been one of the most debated topics in football for a number of years now and this season is no different

Simulation in the Premier League was once blamed on foreign players who arrived from other leagues - but now it's become embedded in the English game

Despite running the risk of picking up a yellow card for trying to con the referee, we still see diving on a regular basis and it doesn't look to be going anywhere soon

So far this season, 18 players have been booked for some form simulation and most recently, it was Tottenham's Heung-Min Son who was found guilty of that last Saturday

As well as Spurs, 10 other Premier League clubs have seen one of their players fall foul of the law

There's plenty of time for more players to go into the book before the season ends in May

But right now, two teams stand out above the rest for all the wrong reasons, with the joint-worst simulation record in the league

THE MOST PUNISHED TEAMS   It's Spurs and Arsenal who have seen the most players punished so far in this campaign - with four players from each team booked

For the Gunners, Matteo Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette, Shkodran Mustafi and Granit Xhaka have all picked up yellow cards - with three of them diving in the same match!  Last Saturday against Leicester, Son joined Tottenham's trio of Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Danny Rose on that unwanted list of players penalised for cheating

Although the two north London sides lead the league in diving, another team isn't far behind

MORE GUILTY TEAMS   Huddersfield have seen both Chris Lowe and Laurent Depoitre booked, with Burnley manager Sean Dyche referring to the latter's theatrics as 'embarrassing' when the two sides met in October

Eight other clubs, including the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Fulham, have all had one player punished

Check out the full table of the teams who have seen players booked for diving below

INCONSISTENT REFEREEING?  Of course, these stats only relate to players who have been booked for simulation

Sometimes, the referee lets the offender off with just a warning.   When footballers do escape without punishment, it doesn't really help the rhetoric that the Premier League is clamping down on unsportsmanlike conduct

But, even if every dive was punished, we'd probably still see it happening on a regular basis, such is the modern game

Man City News - FA Cup: A look at the chasm which separates Newport and Manchester City - Duration: 4:18.

Manchester City travel to Newport on Saturday for the sort of FA Cup tie that gets traditionalists purring

The Premier League leaders will have to rough it on the unpredictable Rodney Parade surface, and their millionaire stars must make do with the rather basic away changing rooms

Here, we take a look at the chasm which separates these two clubs in the modern age

Some 82 places separate the Premier League leaders and Newport, who sit 15th in Sky Bet League Two going into the weekend

The highest Newport have ever risen was to the old Second Division, which meant they were briefly in the same division as Manchester City

Though technically they were in the division from 1940 to 1947, World War II meant they played only one full season, with Newport losing 5-1 away and 3-0 at home in their two meetings with City

Newport have gained a well-deserved reputation as giant-killers in recent years given their high-profile victories over Leicester, Leeds and Middlesbrough, and they almost added Tottenham to the list before Harry Kane's late equaliser denied them last season

But this fifth-round appearance matches their best ever run, last achieved in 1948-49 when they lost to Portsmouth at this stage

City, in contrast, are five-time winners of the cup, but despite the transformation in their fortunes they have lifted it only once – in 2011 – during the Sheikh Mansour era

The total transfer value of Newport's side is in the region of £50,000, which might not even cover the matchday bonuses of City

A chunk of that sum was spent on record signing Joe Day, with the goalkeeper costing in the region of £30,000 when he signed from Peterborough

Contrast that with the £35million City spent on their own stopper Ederson – then a record for a goalkeeper and coming only 12 months after Claudio Bravo joined for a reported £17million before failing to match expectations

Day is Newport's record signing since the club was reformed in 1989, but go further back and they paid £80,000 to Swansea for Alan Waddle in December 1980

Day at least is one of the first names on the team sheet.  City's record signing, the £60million Riyad Mahrez, is still trying to nail down a regular place in a side spoilt for choice when it comes to creative midfielders

Fourteen of his 34 appearances this season have come off the bench.  Rodney Parade's capacity changes depending on who is playing – County share the ground with the Dragons rugby union team and Newport RFC

But when football is the sport, its capacity is listed at 7,850 – only 850 more than can fit into the stadium built at City's training ground for the women's team and the under-23s

The new rules ending replays at this stage of the competition mean Newport cannot hope to earn a trip to the 55,000-capacity Etihad Stadium, but given the state of the pitch and the support of their own fans, there is surely nowhere they would rather be playing than Rodney Parade on Saturday

Quick trick will show Android users which queued up YouTube videos support captions - Duration: 1:30.

So let's say your lying in bed with your significant other and you just can't fall asleep

Maybe you're feeling excited from the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event, or just the stress of everyday living has given you insomnia

To relax, you grab your phone to watch some YouTube videos. But there is a problem; you can't find your dongle and your phone doesn't have a 3

5mm jack.Another scenario. Let's say that you want to watch a video in another language that you don't understand

You can try to grab the context by watching the action, but that is not going to work

In fact, you'll probably miss out on the big picture and any nuances. What about using captions? That would be the solution for both of the aforementioned situations

While not every YouTube video is captioned, you can quickly find out which ones do have the feature

According to Android Police, when you turn the volume all the way down on your Android phone, the videos in the "Up next" list will show a small box with the initials "CC" (for closed captions) underneath the listing info if they support captions

Stick to the videos that show the "CC" box, and you'll have no problem following along with a YouTube video regardless if you're trying to keep the peace at night, or watching a foreign clip

While this feature is just a minor one, it can be a big help to YouTube viewers. And the interesting thing is, this might have been one of those unheralded features that no one really thought twice about until now

Turning the volume off on YouTube Android app reveals which videos support captions

Which career path should I take? - Duration: 5:18.

Should I stay or should I go?

Are you at a crossroad in your scientific career?

Are you perhaps a PhD student or Postdoc and you don´t really know what do next?

My name is Amani Said and I am the founder of Success Beyond the Lab and my mission is

to empower scientists in achieving their career goals.

I have been there myself.

I was once very confused, after having finished my PhD I did not know what to do.

I had to make a decision whether I wanted to stay in academia.

Or whether I wanted to go to pharma.

Or what about consulting?

A friend of mine said I think business development would really suit your personality.

Or what about patent law there is lots of money in that area.

All these options were available to me but I was simply clueless.

And I was so afraid of to take the wrong decision.

Can you relate with that situation?

What I have heard from HR and recruiters about their main complaint when it comes to candidates

who are just starting their career or maybe they are doing a career change for instance

from academia to industry, is their lack of research.

Their lack of self-research.

So when they go to the interviews they are not clear on who they are, what they want

in their careers.

What is their vision?

What is your bigger vision?

What is the bigger picture for your career?

What would make you jump out of bed every morning and run to work?

What would that be?

So it is important that you take time from the lab and do some self-research on your

own so you can really figure out your career path.

And what helped me was this amazing Japanese model that I would love to share with you

today.

It is called Ikigai.

So Ikigai is composed of 4 elements.

First you want to figure out what is it that you love doing.

Which is not always easy to figure out.

And then the second thing is to do research on what are you good at.

Because there are certain things we love doing but we might not be good at them.

So find out what are you good at.

And then the third element is what could you get paid for doing?

And if we are going to look at the bigger picture, because we are part of this world

and we want to contribute to society and the challenges that we are facing.

What is it that the world needs right now?

Cause maybe the world doesn´t need another clinical associate, I don´t know.

Do that research as well.

And if you look at the intersections of love and good at.

This would actually be your passion.

And if we look at the intersection between being good at something and getting paid for

that would be your job.

And then the intersection of getting paid for and what the world needs would be a vocation.

And finally what you love and the world needs that would be your mission.

So recently had an interview with a PhD student asking him what is your vision for your future

career?

And he blew my mind when he said I am going to join Greenpeace and stop climate change!

And I guess that would if he would get the job with Greenpeace that would be a vocation.

But maybe he can still contribute to stopping climate change without actually getting paid

for it.

So I would like to give you a piece of advice.

Is to figure out your path, start with doing self-research.

Start with asking yourself, we dont have to figure out all these 4 because that could

be a bit overwhelming.

So start with asking yourself, what do I love and what am I good at?

Make a list.

And if you find it challenging to find the answers then ask your friends, ask your colleauges,

your family, ask them; what do you think I am good at?

And the more you do self-reflection the clearer the path for your career will become.

So if this story and this topic has resonated with you I would like to ask you to share

this video and if you happen to have friends who are really struggeling with their career

choices right now and you think this model could help them then please share this video

with them as well.

Until the next time we meet, stay awesome!

Game which let players send people to Auschwitz-like gas chambers resurrected - News Live - Duration: 2:49.

An "offensive" and "disrespectful" video game which let players send people to the gas chambers in an Auschwitz-like concentration camp has been resurrected

Cost of Freedom was scrapped last year after public outrage, but it is now set to be brought back based in a Soviet-style Gulag instead

The computer game was being made by Ukrainian company Alien Games, and local media say they're being investigated by the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw

An online trailer for the original version appeared to reference death camps and revealed that players can can either take on the role of prisoners trying to escape the guards or the guards themselves

Dymitry Dybin, the main developer, announced that the game is being changed to a Gulag-style setting in a statement to his followers after releasing a new trailer showing its new setting

The statement reads: "Hello Friends! We apologise for the long wait and lack of development updates

"We are working hard on Cost of Freedom, and today we ready to share a few game features with you

"As you may have seen, we have completely changed the game's environment setting

"The gameplay now brings the player into the realms of Soviet GULAGs, where you will be challenged to survive in the freezing cold of Siberia (sic)

"  He added: "We designed the game map in such a way, that you will have the ability to hide in various places, creates, and corners to avoid being caught by the Guards

"Looting will be also a key to a successful game. The player will be able to socialize with bots in various ways, and use them for his advantage

"We promise to deliver you the game you wanted! Stay tuned! (sic)"  The first trailer for the original video game based in an Auschwitz-like concentration camp is reportedly being investigated by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance and the District Prosecutor's Office in the Polish capital Warsaw

Auschwitz memorial and museum spokesman Bartosz Bartyzel said: "Using the tragedy of the victims of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp is outrageous

"  He said the first version of the game made entertainment out of human suffering and showed a total lack of respect for the memory of Holocaust victims

The first trailer prominently featured imagery showing concentration camp prisoners being gassed and suffering excruciating, cruel deaths

The gas chambers appear to have been removed from this redesigned version.

Royal Az - My heart kept beating OUTSIDE body in operation which saved life - Duration: 4:52.

Midland dad James Walton owes his life to a heart in a box, kept beating outside his body as surgeons prepared for a remarkable transplant op

The donor heart kept beat in a transparent box as blood was pumped through it to keep it alive

Father-of-one James is the first person to have the amazing new procedure at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the only third person in the UK to be saved that way

Desperately ill after his aorta had 'burst', and barely able to walk more than a few yards, James was put on the urgent transplant list on January 3 this year

Miraculously, just five days later a donor was found and James was given a new heart on January 8 – but the way it was done would have seemed like science fiction not long ago

"As soon as I woke up, I felt like a new person," says James, who has a three-year-old son named Jack

"I felt great. I can breathe again. Most importantly, I can spend time with my little boy

"  James, who works as a joiner, was born with Marfan Syndrome which affects the connective tissue in the body and can lead to heart valve problems later in life

In 2015, his health began to deteriorate and in October he needed surgery after his aorta ruptured

The following year he had further surgery to have his aortic valve replaced, and finally a pacemaker fitted

But all the operations failed to do the trick, and James was left barely able to walk, in pain and having difficulty breathing

The only option left was to find a new heart.  "My heart wasn't working right so it was affecting my day to day life," recalls James, 34

"I was finding it hard to breathe, and to play with my little lad.  "I couldn't really do anything in the end

"  James became so ill that on some days he couldn't even get out of bed. Despite having a pacemaker fitted, his heart could not get enough oxygen round his body

And, especially when he was asleep, his heart was beating dangerously slowly.  "James couldn't walk more than 100 yards at work," says wife Kat

"He couldn't play football or go to the park with our three-year-old boy. He was exhausted all the time

"His heart wasn't pumping enough blood and wasn't giving enough oxygen to the body

Sometimes he couldn't even get out of bed for days because of the pain."  James was admitted to the Royal Stoke Hospital at the beginning of December, where they first discussed a heart transplant as an option

Then, just after Christmas, he was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and was put on the transplant list on January 3

"Our whole family was shocked when we heard he was on the transplant list," admits Kat

"We were told that we would probably be waiting for around three months, or possibly even a year

"But James was too ill to leave hospital. We got told he would have to stay in until they found one, and we were preparing for a long wait

"When we heard they had found a heart just five days later we were absolutely stunned

"  James was taken down to surgery where Mr Majid Mukadam had retrieved the heart from the donor patient

The heart was put in the 'Heart in a Box', where it continues beating and remains alive by pumping blood round its 'box body'

Usually, transplant organs are kept in a ice box to preserve them, which can pit surgeons against the clock

But the new Heart in a Box means that surgeons have more time to carry out the operation, making it easier for medics and the patient

Immunosuppressant drugs are also pumped through the blood, minimising the chance of the heart being rejected

The hospital is one of the only centres in the UK  to have one, after the QEHB Charity and Heart Research UK raised £265,000 to fund the amazing machine

Now, just five weeks on, James is back home in Stoke-on-Trent, and is making the most of family life

"It's still early days, but James is much more active," says Kat. "Jack now has his Daddy back

He can chase him around and play games with him. Before, he would be too out of breath and too tired

"He's even cooking! It's only a few weeks after the transplant and we can't believe the difference

"    *************  The couple only discovered last week that James was the first 'guinea pig' to try the Heart in a Box

The procedure isn't necessary for all transplant patients, but because James had undergone multiple heart surgeries previously, he fit the criteria

Surgeon Majid Mukadam explained that because James had a lot of scar tissue, his heart would 'cling' to his body, taking them longer to remove it

Therefore, the Heart in a Box was vital for a successful transplant.  "There's people on the list who have been waiting seven or eight months to get a call," adds James

"I was so lucky I was only on the list for five days.  "I don't know anything about my donor yet, but I want to write a letter to the family when I get the opportunity

I'll always be grateful for them for giving me a second chance."  Barbara Harpham, Chief Executive at Heart Research UK, says: "To see such a young man given the gift of life is a wonderful way to show it was well worth all the effort to get this revolutionary machine in the Midlands

"It will go on to save many lives.  "We're very  grateful to everyone who gave to the Heart in a Box Appeal and at the same time remember with thanks, the donor and their brave family who made this precious gift possible for James

"     ******************************     HOW IT WORKS  Heart in a Box keeps a donated heart beating outside of the body, with blood pumping through the organ, along with immunosuppressant drugs

It's equipped with an oxygen tank, supply of blood, batteries, and special electric and mechanical equipment to monitor the organ, and pumps nutrient-rich warm blood round the donor heart, keeping it beating as though inside a body

This helps to irrigate the heart and make sure that it is in the best condition possible before transplant

Crucially, compared to the traditional ice box method, this lengthens the amount of time that surgeons have to carry out the transplant, making the operation easier for both surgeons and patient

Heart in a Box is transportable and means that organs can be moved around the country to save lives here in Birmingham

Aubameyang 'likes' Instagram post which highlights Arsenal's humiliation vs BATE - Duration: 2:37.

Arsenal's defeat against BATE Borisov on Thursday night was an embarrassing one for all connected to the club and it would appear that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang agrees with that sentiment

Unai Emery's side travelled to Belarus hoping to maintain their unbeaten record in the Europa League this season and bring back a lead to the Emirates Stadium for next week's second leg

They did neither and now have to overturn a one-goal deficit at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday

The only goal of the game came shortly before half-time as Stanislav Dragun out-jumped Sead Kolasniac to head home from a free-kick and send BATE on their way to an historic win over the Gunners

Despite dominating possession for large periods in the second half the visitors couldn't create much and the closest they came to an equaliser was when Alexandre Lacazette saw an effort correctly ruled out for offside

Any hopes of a draw were destroyed when the Frenchman was shown a straight red card for lashing out with his elbow amid pure frustration on a very disappointing outing for the north Londoners

The aftermath of the defeat at the Borisov Arena has seen the Gunners teased heavily by rival supporters on social media as it was not only BATE's first win over an English club in a decade, but they're still in pre-season

It will take a while for some Arsenal fans to get over the disappointment of losing to a team they put 10 goals past last season and Aubameyang is fully aware of the humiliation

The Gabon international liked a post on Instagram which was of a Tweet which reads: "I can't even go and take my frustrations out by replaying the game on FIFA because BATE Borisov ain't even on the game

"  Having been eliminated in the FA Cup by Manchester United last month, the Gunners aren't in action this weekend and that means they would have had a full week of before the second leg against BATE Borisov

Which dating app is best? 12 people explain their allegiances - Duration: 2:52.

Which dating app is best? 12 people explain their allegiances

In our series, Mashable shines a light into the foggy world of online dating. Just in time for cuffing season.

On dating apps, peoples intentions and objectives vary wildly, which is partially why theyre a breeding ground for disappointment. But sometimes — and yes, this has happened — someone uses a dating app and thinks, "Wow, that was not so bad."

We asked 12 people to explain why they love or at least tolerate their favorite dating app. Spoiler: Despite the corny questions, a surprising number of people love Hinge. The interviews below have been edited and condensed for clarity.

Favorite app: Tinder

Why? I am 39 and I know how hard it is to meet people. The reason I prefer Tinder is mainly due to volume. You will find more people on there than any other app or site, at least in my city. Tinder is also great when traveling. Ive made some romantic connections as well as friends that I still communicate with. I have used Bumble, OKCupid, and Hinge and I found myself deleting these apps after a month.

Favorite app: Hinge

Why? I feel like I can take [Hinge] so much more seriously as a dating app than I can an app like Tinder. I feel Tinder has a "hookup culture" stigma thats hard to get around, and Hinge provides you with more ice breaker questions to help spark a conversation or [discover] a common interest.

Favorite app: OKCupid

Why? Im happily married now and havent used a dating app in 5 plus years. The big thing that set OKC apart from other options when I was a user: It was free. But this was before a lot of advances in dating services. Tinder didnt launch until 2012, and by that time I was invested enough in using OKC that it never occurred to me to try a different app.

Id like to tell you that OKCs , questions, and personality quizzes kept me there, but honestly ... it was the free thing that kept me there.

Favorite app: Tinder

Why? Its the original I dont have the time to waste energy on people who dont find me physically attractive app. I also believe people go on the app without a set idea of what they want overall, so the idea of a date and one nighter is attractive and effortless. But that doesnt mean everyone is opposed to relationships of growing from the first encounter.

Favorite app: Bumble

Why? I am on Bumble and Hinge. Bumble has been my go to for quite some time mainly because the quality of men I find on Bumble seem key word: seem to be more along the lines of what I am looking for and now with the options that Bumble provides i.e. height, religion, reasons for being on the app, etc. No success yet, but I know friends that have had success so ... Im still keeping the faith.

Favorite app: Hinge

Why? I pretty much only use Hinge now. I have tried almost all of them: Tinder at one point in college, Bumble, OKCupid, Coffee Meets Bagel .... I found that Tinder was mainly for hook ups and while I liked that guys were less grimy on Bumble, Im pretty shy so I didnt like that I had to be the one to initiate conversation. Editors Note: Women seeking men must message first on Bumble; for women seeking women, .

And then I found that CMB and OKCupid were just not as user friendly. I didnt love the app experience and it seemed like most people were just looking for hook ups there too. What I like about Hinge is that its not just driven by peoples pictures. When you build your profile, youre forced to answer a series of questions — anything from your favorite movie to your best travel story or dream dinner guest. Theyre all good questions because the responses give you a sense of who the person is and their interests.

Favorite app: Bumble

Why? I met my now fiancé on Bumble. I liked that I had the power to choose who I talked to. I was tired of getting cornered by creepy men at bars who wouldnt take a hint, but I was too nice to just walk away. In hindsight, I should have! Bumble allowed me to never feel obligated to talk to anyone just because they initiated a conversation with me.

Favorite app: Hinge

Why? Hinge is by far the best for a long term relationship. I met my current partner on there and have been with him for a year. I used every dating app out there and met, like, three new guys per week for about two years. The creepiest, worst dates I had all came from Bumble, and so many people ghosted from Coffee Meets Bagel.

[Hinge] isnt swipe style like Tinder or Bumble. People upload pictures and answer icebreakers and you have the chance to comment on those ... you cant just send a message like "hey." You can also filter based on whether the person drinks, smokes, wants kids, does drugs ... so you can rule out people who dont fit your values.

Favorite app: Coffee Meets Bagel

Why? I personally like Coffee Meets Bagel because its not an endless cycle of swiping through uninterested prospects. Its very casual [in tone], but catered more to individuals looking for actual dates/relationships rather than just a hookup. In comparison to the other apps/sites, I think there is a better quality of men on CMB. Only issue I have: Their messaging app is extremely subpar, doesnt load correctly and messages dont send.

Favorite app: Bumble

Why? I guess I am biased towards Bumble because it is where I met my boyfriend, but I like it for several reasons.

I like that the app was made . It always gave me peace of mind when I remembered the creators had similar needs and experiences.

I also like that I was forced to be the instigator. Im not usually one to go out and start a conversation, so that little push was nice. Finally, I like that it only gives you 24 hours to send a text before you lose a match. I have spent so long in match purgatory on other apps. This one actually forces you to put yourself out there.

Favorite app: OKCupid

Why? It was the writers dating app. If you were one of those people who relied on clever copy than, say, photos, OKCupid was your site. Some of my best material was in my 2009 dating profile. RIP.

Favorite app: Hinge

Why? I felt like the people on Hinge were more likely to be looking for a serious relationship. Rather than just flipping through photos, I liked that I also got an insight into their personalities straight away — from the questions they chose to the answers they gave.

I also really liked that I could see their political affiliation, religious beliefs, if they drank, smoked, or did drugs, etc. because those can be real deal breakers, but awkward questions to ask on a first or even a second date.

So when I matched with people, it was nice to know that we had some of the big things in common right from the get go, rather than investing in them through chatting or even meeting IRL only to be massively disappointed by something.
