Youtube daily what Feb 16 2019

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen every time I do video on wire aerials and

show this strange-looking contraption a lot of people go what's that then so

what I thought it's just one through my favoritest tools that I use when I'm

playing wire aerials or any wiry okay so I'll take the mystique out of these very

simply if I can get it right this time you put some wire in here you hold this

down snap together and it ain't strips the end so that's what it does it strips

the end pretty well actually so that that's what I do there right

wire stripper about 20 bucks but now Alice these happen to be called I said

we've got more famine I wore out the last ones where they wear out actually

something happened to the clickity clock and Stuart was down idly mucking around

one day and I gave him I said can you fix them and he did but then they went

off again so I don't know what he fixed so I just thought I'd get more expensive

ones donate I don't spare the horses when it comes to buying tools these on

the other hand these are reset see Barco side cutters now just listen to this i

hold upon a microphone I can't get over quite a beautifully these cut but so

again about 20-25 bananas for my birthday

these apparently are there these are Barco as well

but a slightly different format so right there like they're like well you'll see

that they just they cut in a different manner they're not scissors if you don't

I mean now these are quite small versions and if thought that we can have

handles like this these are bit cheaper but these are about 20 bananas as well

and obviously I've got a close-up camera over here look so hopefully you see that

it just that's in a way that you'll end up with this very sheer top if you do it

to me which I like because I wanted it to cut like that and then do my and then

I get this perfect well I don't even have to twist the ends together I'll

just get this I think the top that I could put little solder blob on and do

whatever I need to so anyway so this time there then in the

main I can live with that by also like these are cheat and cheerful from a

company called Draper okay that probably like two or three apples these are just

the what they sort of flattened micro pliers there we are and then but I like

them because once I've got particularly with d-10 that military stuff I used

quite a lot once I've got an end probably a bit bigger than that

you've got an end in d-10 you normally find its place out a bit long I'll hold

it there because I've got a different lens on them and these are just great

for grabbing old at the top basically and then giving it a really good twist

or for twisting three or four wires together and a big not so cheap as chips

just very small handy now these also Draper remarkably cut quite well as well

and these are only two or three oranges maybe I don't know draper in the main

all the Draper stuff I've got is pretty crap but those two are like quite a lot

right now what the hell are these well some of you guys will know what these

are these are actually tin snips great for cutting through a steel sheet very

thin sheet but I use it for all sorts of things like if you wanted to cut through

nylon webbing works very well I wonder if it'd work probably works on that

later I think that's why really well as well tin snips beware if you buy some

tin snips and these are fat Macs so he's a Stan Lee aren't they 15

tangerines are a thought not a lot of money these are the 14 - 206 is but tin

snips coming left hand curl right hand curl and straight I didn't know that

these are straight cut okay so there we go

I don't use them on tin even though they're tin snips are use them on

everything else beware it's not quite a scissor angle there because there's some

fulcrum action going on somewhere along the line or are they yeah so it's not

just like a pair of scissors it's a bit of extra effort going on with because as

you we got the two inches so quite a lot of its back to 2:1 effort you know for

every one more than that I've got four inches of effort there to get you know

half an inch of effort there but anyway and then haha I found I found my little

blade cutter things now these are online but I forget who gave them to me

somebody did or found them in the car long time ago like she and I just fairly

stirred a while I was rooting around looking for these tools just to bring

home for tonight you see and then you press a button there we are this button

here that and the whole thing drops back down again and also don't forget your

sharpie ah if only I'd had sharpies when I were in that hey but we didn't have

sharpies we're not related because well I didn't and what why did

they create the name Sharpie anyway why is it called sharpie and put that camera

off now amazing I've just been on Carl's channel by the way we're up to think one

eighty seven hundred which is amazing because he was only on 337 or something

yesterday ah that's all let's just keep it short and sweet

Enjoy your Radio chaps - apparently I haven't been saying that and some people

enjoyed the format of "enjoy your radio" .. I'm always here for you. A very good day!

What do Barbara Lopez and Maca Achaga do when they're alone? - Duration: 1:38.

Honestly, when I'm alone,

I'm very me.

But in reality, these are things that I could do with more people, the ones I trust.

I mean, these aren't things that I...

that I couldn't do because-

Like once I was asked, "Do you dance in front of the mirror?"

and I answered, "I don't trust in people who don't dance in front of the mirror".

Like all of us have those moments when we connect with ourselves,

and if you don't have them,

put yourself in front of the mirror.

So, I do some...

- Some weird things- - I know what.

What?

I answer interviews all alone.

Nooo!

- I love it! - In English.

I imagine someone's asking me questions-

It's a great answer.

I also talk alone.

I break up with people- ahhh!

Dummy.

- No, but I do have important conversations. - That's crazy.

I have important conversations all alone too.

Like confronting the worst case scenario,

has it happened to you?

Yes, of course. And also because you can practice a bit.

Like...

you express better and in a more sincere,

in a more sincere, open way when it's just you and

honestly, it's better to practice a little how to...

- It also happens with English. - express yourself.

Because you change languages so....

I should do that, sometimes I'm catch off guard with it.

I locked it and now I don't know how to open it.

I closed your safe, how do you open it?

- You closed it!?

Take a magnet...

Oh ok...

And just touch it with the magnet like this...

Oh!

Brilliant And then that way no one knows it's locked.

With the RFID and the other thing... you have no idea.

But look here, you can have it off too.

You flick it, now it's off.

If you don't have any kids, you just leave it.

And it screws into your studs. They're 16 inches of space apart.

Cool!

- Do you have a storefront?

- No Amazon, or direct online or...?

- Every... just at the side of my yard, man.

I'm old school.

I got a pretty card though... are you filming?

- Yeah!

- Gotta suck it in!

- Nah you look good.

"What to text my ex?" Secrets to get your ex to open up with Clay Andrews - Duration: 13:50.

Hey there.

This is Clay with www.ModernLove.Life and this is relationshipinnergame.com.

Now in this video I'm going to be talking about the topic of texting your ex and I know

that there are a lot of people out there who are looking for magic text messages to send

to your ex and word for word scripts that you can just send your ex and that's not really

what you're going to get here because ultimately that kind of stuff doesn't really work.

Sure, it might get you to the next step, but you're still not going to know what to do

when your ex texts you back or when things go off script or when you just run out of

of magic words to use or say what instead I'm going to do is I'm going to equip you

with a few basic principles and a few things to keep in mind when you are interacting with

your ex.

Now, the second thing I want you to understand about this video and what I'm going to be

sharing with you is that this is all within the context of understanding your ex's emotional

state and you really developing your own emotional states to best connect with your ex.

Okay.

This means that you are aware of what your exes, experience in the present moment is.

You're able to empathize with your ex's experience.

You're able to have composure to know what you want without having to collapse or posture

and you're able to express yourself relatively clearly.

Okay?

So this is all within that context.

If you are just sort of, you know, flying blind or something like that, then what I'd

like you to do is I'd like you to watch some of our other videos on the topic of really

understanding your ex's emotional state and connecting with them on an emotional level.

So at that being said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when it does come

to texting your ex and all of this stuff really can also relate to emailing your ex, writing

her ex a Facebook message, sending your ex a letter, calling your ex on the phone or

anything else like that.

But this is specifically, we're going to be using texting as the example here because

a lot of people seem to enjoy texting or like the idea of texting their ex.

So the first issue that you might experience when it comes to texting your ex is that,

your ex may not respond or they may not respond right away or they may not respond in a meaningful

way.

And there are a couple of reasons why this might be, and this is what this particular

video is going to be about.

The first thing that you might be doing that could inadvertently be discouraging your ex

from actually responding to you or interacting with you is that you're just frankly sending

them too much information, too much content.

This is what we often call the wall of text.

So oftentimes people when they are first reaching out to their exes or contacting their ex,

or even emailing their ex, they will often pour their heart out onto the screen or onto

the page or onto the little box where you type in your text and they'll just, they'll

just go, they'll just, they'll just talk about everything that they're feeling, everything

that they're experiencing.

And they'll just go and they'll just go and they'll just go.

And then when they finally hit send, it goes off and then they're ex receives it.

And it, it's just this giant wall of text, this block of text, and there's just no space

for the eye to rest is just one enormous wall and a number one, it looks very difficult

to read.

And number two, it's full of emotional, emotionally heavy language.

Okay.

And this is very difficult for your ex to go through and your ex to read because number

one, it is very difficult.

There's very little space for the eye to rest.

And number two, it's also very emotionally difficult because you're talking about these

heavy feelings that you're having, these deep experiences that you're having.

And many times at the end of number three, there is a very big ask at the end.

Like, so will you please consider giving me another chance or we please consider getting

back together with me or something along those lines.

And what happens when your ax receives the wall of text is that they kind of shut down

emotionally and are looking for an excuse to not respond to it.

You know, they might, they might procrastinate, they might put it off, they might do something

along those lines.

And so I recommend that you don't use the wall of texts when you are talking to your

ex.

A mistake number two that people often make that keeps their ex from responding to them

or keeps their ex from wanting to text them back is that they often don't really ask a

meaningful or substantial question, right?

They often just, and they're their text message with hope, you're well or what's new or how's

it going?

Or something like that.

And this is not really a very good idea when it comes to creating the context for an emotional

interaction for a real conversation.

Because first of all, if you don't actually have a question, if it just ends with hope

you're doing well or something like that, your ex may not even think that you want them

to respond, right?

If you don't actually have a question, your ex might think, oh well they're just sending

me something.

They don't actually want me to respond there.

There has given me some sort of update.

They're not asking anything in particular.

And so they might just think that you don't need a response from them.

And the second reason why that's not a great idea is because if you are just sending them

a vague question like what's new, how's it going?

Something along those lines that has a similar effect because in our culture, in our society,

for lack of anything better, we use these, questions as basically a placeholder for a

greeting.

How you doing?

What's up, how's it going?

What's new?

Things like that.

You know, we often have these just throwaway phrases that we use in our day to day life,

such as when we're talking to the Barista at the coffee shop and there's a line of people

behind us that's, you know, 10 or 20 people along and the Barista just says, Hey, what's

going on?

Right?

They don't actually care how your day is going.

You don't actually care what is going on with you.

They're just saying that as a greeting, right?

You're supposed to just say, oh, not too much.

Oh, it's Monday.

Oh, I'm doing good.

You know, you're not supposed to actually tell them how your actual day is going, how

you actually feel.

It's just a greeting.

Right?

And so if your ex receives a question like this from you, they might not actually see

any need to respond.

It might just seem something like, you know, hey, what's up?

What's new?

How's it going?

It could just be like, hello.

Right.

If you even ask them that sort of question, it can often, not really inspire them to respond

just because it is a throwaway kind of phrase that we use in our society.

The third mistake that people make when texting their ex is that they don't ask specific questions.

So kind of building off and kind of the other side of that particular question, or that

last particular point is that you may not be asking your ex specific questions that

really inspire them to respond.

So questions such as how's it going, what's new?

Those are obviously bad like we just talked about.

But questions that actually do inspire them to respond are things like what was the last

thing that made you smile?

How was your weekend?

That's kind of a little bit iffy but you know, it, it is a little bit more specific and it

does inspire them to respond a little bit more.

Or here's what I had for lunch, can you, what, what did you have for lunch?

Or guess where I am attached with a photo or you know, something like that.

Those sorts of things are small asks.

And they are easy to answer for your ex.

So those sorts of things are great for getting a conversation going and getting your ex engaged

with you.

Now the fourth thing that actually stops your ex from responding is when you are relationship

focused, your motive for texting them is really to try to save the relationship.

The reason that you are sending them a text message is to get them to want to get back

together into a relationship with you, and I hate to say this because it's going to burst

a lot of people's bubble, but you cannot get back together with your ex solely over text

message.

Okay?

You have to actually have a significant emotional interaction and connection with them and chances

are you're probably going to have to, you know, have a actual phone call with them where

they can hear your voice or see your face or face to face meetup.

What are the two of you can actually interact, go out on some sort of date, build actual

experiences.

Your ex probably is not going to get back together with you just because you sent the

right text message off to them or something like that.

So you have to understand that the purpose of texting your ex is not to get them back.

But instead you want to simply just build a connection.

So if you can shift from being relationship focused to being connection focused, that

is going to help you immensely.

Because when you are relationship focused, you're going to ask your ex things like, hey,

would you ever consider getting back together?

Please give me another chance.

I promise I'll change.

I've been waiting eagerly for reply all continued to wait till the end of time or you know,

things like that.

And those sorts of things are going to make your ex want to pull away from you.

However, if you are simply connection focused, if you're simply just wanting to interact

in the present moment, then your ex is going to be much more likely to want to open up

and share with you because you are not bringing the sort of ulterior motive.

This sort of hidden agenda to the interactions, right?

If you have this hidden agenda of, Hey, I'm texting you because I want to get back together

with you so that I can feel good.

I don't care how you feel, I don't care what your thoughts are, I don't care about any

of that.

I just want to get back together with you so that I feel good again.

Then your ex is not going to want to interact with you.

They're going to pull away.

This is something we've talked about in some of our other videos.

Okay, so be connection focused, not relationship focused.

And the fifth thing that might stop your ext actually wanting to text you back is that

you simply aren't calibrated to where they're at emotionally.

Now, it should be pretty obvious, but everybody has an emotional sort of thermometer that

goes up and down throughout the day.

You know, sometimes you're feeling great, sometimes you're feeling okay, sometimes you're

feeling kind of Whoa, whoa.

And it often depends on maybe what's happening outside of you.

Maybe the thoughts that are having that you're having in your mind or other sorts of experiences

that you have throughout the day.

And this is what kind of changes throughout the days, your emotional temperature.

And the same is true with your ex.

And if you aren't really meeting your ex where their emotional temperature is, that they're

going to think there's a great deal of disconnect.

You know, maybe your ex is down here feeling really lousy cause they're heartbroken over

the breakup.

And maybe you're coming up here trying to pretend to be happy and excited all the time.

And if you're like, hey, life is great.

I love everything.

What's the best thing that happened to you today?

And they're like down here.

And they're like, man, screw you.

We have nothing in common.

I don't want to interact with you.

You know, that's, that's, that's going to really screw things up in terms of making

them want to respond to you.

So the important thing to do is to start to calibrate to where your ex is at emotionally.

So it's important to start by sending them a small message and kind of see what their

responses, and based off of that response, you can start to understand and start to put

together a picture about where their emotional state might be.

So have a small investment and then meet that investment, with whatever they get back.

And then you can kind of start to build a sort of picture about where they might be

emotionally based off of that response through the back and forth of the dialogue.

And so you can kind of say, okay, I'm here, I'm going to text them, and they're over here.

Okay, they're down here.

Maybe I'll drop it down a little bit.

And then it seems like, oh, actually they're up here, so I'll raise it up a little.

And then you'll kind of start to zero in on exactly where they are.

Right?

And that's really the secret to calibrating toy your ex's out.

And emotionally.

Now, of course, like I told you before, all of these things that we've just gone over

are within the context of being able to create good positive emotional interactions with

your ex.

These aren't, you know, copy and paste.

Turn your brain off and just send out some script advice to help you get your ex back.

You have to actually be able to feel into the moment so the, your ex knows that they're

getting back together with you.

Not with me, because I did some sort of Cyrano de Bergerac kind of move with you or anything

like that.

But it has to be you because this is your relationship.

This is not my relationship with your ex.

This is your relationship.

So you need to know your ex better than anyone else.

You need to be able to feel into the interactions and you need to be able to know better than

me or any strange person on the Internet.

What the right thing to say to your ex is.

Okay.

One Dev Question with Raymond Chen - What was your first project at Microsoft? - Duration: 0:58.

So, what was the first thing I did when I came to Microsoft?

When I started working at Microsoft full time,

I came into what became the Windows 95 team,

but my job at the start

wasn't even writing code.

It was taking changes from Windows 3.1

that was just wrapping up

and porting them over into the Windows 95 codebase.

So, I was basically a human merge-machine.

This apparently is not a bad job to have when you started,

because another one of our high ranking developers,

Laura Butler did exactly the same thing.

Her job was porting changes between--

I think it was Cairo and Windows NT.

And so, you know, the first thing you do

when you come in here is porting changes around.

And, you know, that's auspicious.

What is title insurance on a home | Title Insurance real estate [2019] - Duration: 7:33.

Hey guys... how you doing? this Anthony Tejada again and we're here today with my business

business partner Dolores Paredes and Genny with a G Esteves with Stewart

Title and today we're going to talk about what is Title Insurance on a home.

so question number one Genny is. What is titled insurance? Great question

Dolores. Title insurance is a special type of insurance that protects the ownership

of the home against any defects on title. So Jenny, question number two do you need

Title Insurance and why? That is one of my favorite questions, Anthony. Yes you

do need title insurance so as we mentioned the title company does all the

research to make sure that when you purchase the title or the ownership of

your home that everything has been thoroughly inspected making sure that

there were no gaps or in a defects on title. Let's translate

that what that means is even some buyer if you're thinking a policy from

Stewart title company showing in fact that you are the real owner of the

property. This can be an issue since land has been here since forever, so it's good to

know that a title company will look into any defects such as liens, any issues

with the previous heirs to the property and is ensuring that anything done

before you purchase your home has already been taken care of

so title insurance is very much necessary. So Jenny so what if somebody

says to you... you don't need title insurance like how do you respond to

that. You know Anthony I would safeguard away from that because title insurance does

all the homework to make sure that your property is in fact your property so if

someone is trying to make it like flats I would say be very careful there may be

issues on title or perhaps they're not the real owner so that is part of

our job at Stewart Title. We make sure that we gather social security number of

private information for both the sellers and the potential buyers to make sure

that everything is being disclosed and properly done. Okay Genny the number trhee

what are the most common problem that faces title insurance. Oh there are so

many Dolores so when you purchasing a home we're going to verify that

everything is being taken care off such as liens.

Lien are any unpaid dues on the home many time as property owner that is

considered your asset so you're not paying certain things on time

for example a roofing repair or perhaps an electricity bill those types

of charges are going to become liens against your home which means they can

actually take ownership of that home. The great thing is is that all these common

problems we go ahead and look into them and we do a title search as well as a

municipal lien search. What does that mean for your clients. As Realtors you know

that you're going to be issued something that has been thoroughly inspected and

that will have no problems. Meaning that when they receive their title it's going

to be their name and you have security. Can ask a question pretending to that

one and what happens when somebody has a permitting issue when the title comes up.

There's a lot of problems that occur permitting is one of them so just rest

assured that we will go ahead and take a look at any permits that are open and

before we issue title we're going to address them. Sometimes Anthony we can

either sign a hold harmless where they no longer have to worry about the permit

and they cannot be insured on that portion but that's a perfect underwriter

question and it's case by case basis. Here's a funny story.. Abraham Lincoln's

family owned many estates and when one of them burned down there was no actual

documentation for the home so there were lots of americans in the eighteen hundreds

who have no record of the previous owners that is how Title Insurance

came about. The United States wanted it regulated so we have track record of

previous heirs. Now you can go on public records and see who are the owners in fact.

Awesome, so the last question is that I get a lot from my customers is

is my money save from title and how does that work. Absolutely, yes your money is

100% safeguarded. We are regulated by the government since they're the ones who

came up with this title insurance so we are regulated by the state of Florida

here for you. Now what's really neat is when you submit that escrow deposit

we go ahead turn that money into title company that money is safeguarded.

We have a separate account just from all our escrow deposit. It's not interest-bearing so

rest assured that the money is in fact going towards the purchase of your home. Two things I want on that.

Never bring cash to a closing. We do not accept cash

has there no way of tracking it. Number two if you're wiring any money, please contact

your Realtor and your title company. so okay so Genny I have a lot of

customers and sometimes we have to do wire transfer and we call

them on the phone and tell them what to do but you are Title Company

representatives of what is your advice to us to the Realtors when that happens. Yes, the best advice that

we can give you as a consumer watching this is to call your Realtor and make

sure you speak with them and the title company. Wire Fraud we all

know is on an all-time high so there are a lot of hackers that they spent their

days diligently transferring our emails to make sure it looks like its coming from the Title company and some are even hacking into the realtors emails and

You many never know because their signature may be the same. So great question, if you're looking

tips to save guard during a closing two very simple things. Number one is call your

realtor their your representative and have build a relationship with a title company so call your Realtor and ask them at the beginning of the transaction

to let you know the contact information of the title company. Make sure that those wiring

instructions that you receive have been read to the title company. Call them again

so if you're at the end of the transaction Dolores like you said

you have your client call us make sure they reference the phone number that

you initially provided to them. Many times like we said it may get transposed

where the hacker might get into those wire instructions later on and change

that phone number. so while you done both verification

they already changed that phone number so very important you guys if you're

watching this video we want you to be safe wire fraud is happening right now.

Make sure you contact your Realtors they're great point of contact and we

thank you so much for trusting our title insurance company, Stewart Title.

Perfect Thank You Genny so once again this video was what is

title insurance on a home and I want to thank Genny Esteves. Genny with a G

from Stewart title and my business partner Dolores Paredes and we will see you

guys on the next one. Have Great Day.

What Happened To The Boondocks? - Duration: 12:14.

- [TooBased] Hey what's up it's TooBased.

Just like the title says, we're gonna take a look at The Boondocks series to find out what

happened to it.

So let's get the video started, roll the intro.

- [Huey Voiceover] The life of a black hero has never been for the meek of heart.

You will not get out of here alive, do you hear me?

- The Boondocks was created by Aaron McGruder.

McGruder has been drawing on-and-off throughout his childhood, but it wasn't until high school

that he started to take drawing more seriously.

He decided around that time that he wanted to draw superhero comics, but found the task

to be more difficult than he had imagined.

He worked on drawing superhero comics for a couple of years.

He even took a year off college to do so, putting in 14 hours a day submitting his work

to comic book companies, but making a superhero comic didn't really get him anywhere.

In between working on his comic submissions, he would make little comic strips in his leisure

time to relax.

These comic strips later would be known as The Boondocks.

The Boondocks first premiered on hitlist dot com as a welcome in 1996.

The Boondocks was also in the Diamondback newspaper at the University of Maryland for

a short time.

It also appeared in The Source, which is a hip-hop magazine, for a short while.

Eventually The Boondocks became a syndicated comic strip when McGruder signed with the

Universal Press Syndicate in 1999.

How McGruder was able to get his comic strip syndicated is that he met the Universal Press

Vice President by accident at a NBJ convention in Chicago.

He sat down with her as soon as he saw her name tag.

McGruder gave the Vice President a copy of his script, and after she read his script

she went back to the Syndicate and pushed them to get him a contract.

The premise of the comic strip was about social satire, race, and politics in pop culture.

Usually seen in the eyes of elementary school students, mainly Huey, but there's also other

characters, but I'll talk about them later.

The comic strip had the third largest launch in comic strip history after Calvin and Hobbes

and For Better or For Worse.

In an interview, McGruder explained, when he launched the comic strip he didn't really

catch any flak for it, mainly because all the negative feedback went to the newspaper

company instead, and most of his reader feedback sent to his email address was positive.

The comic strip follows a couple of characters.

Huey and Riley, of course, but Jasmine also one of the main characters instead of having

a supporting role like in the TV series.

And there's also another character by the name of Caesar who was introduced as Hey's

best friend.

I'll revisit this part later, mainly because there's other characters I want to talk about,

so we'll come back to this.

In 2003, McGruder signed with Sony Entertainment to write a TV pilot for The Boondocks.

The goal was to have a TV date around 2004 or 2005.

Originally McGruder started working on The Boondocks TV pilot for Fox, but for some unknown

reason that deal fell through.

McGruder even said making that Fox pilot made him feel like a zombie when he was working

on it.

Eventually McGruder got a call from Mike Lazzo, who was one of the executives for Adult Swim.

He contacted McGruder and asked to look at the pilot that he made, and of course we all

know what happened next.

- Yo.

- Excuse me, everyone, I have a brief announcement to make.

Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the devil, and the government is lyin' about 9/11.

- No.

- He really did it, he did it.

- [TooBased] The Boondocks premiered on Adult Swim on November 6th, 2005.

The TV series followed the Freeman family, Huey, Riley, and Robert Freeman, with Huey

and Riley both being voiced by Regina King, and Robert being voiced by John Witherspoon.

The Freemans moved to the suburbs of Woodcrest in order to start a new and better life.

The TV series was inspired by Japanese animation.

The ones that were listed by McGruder was Cowboy Bebop, Speed Race, and Samurai Champloo.

When the show premiered, it had a million and a half viewers that night, which is something

Adult Swim never experienced before, especially with a premiere.

It was pretty much safe to say that Adult Swim had a hit on their hands.

Episodes were so popular at that time on the internet, most of the topics trending worldwide

on Twitter were related to The Boondocks.

The series was pretty popular, but also pretty expensive.

The Boondocks was one of the most expensive shows that Adult Swim produced, spending 400

thousand dollars an episode mainly because of the marketing and licensing fees.

Season one is probably my favorite season overall.

I like how this guy attacked Eat Dirt in one scene of the episode, but in the next shot

he's on his side threatening Gangstalicious.

- [Reporter] Tensions exploded at an awards show last year, when a chair was thrown at

Eat Dirt.

- Look here man, a lot of these niggas tryin' to have what we didn't have, but they ain't

done what we didn't done to have what we didn't had, you know what I'm sayin', especially

you 'Licious.

You ain't done nothin'.

- What.

- [TooBased] There are a few differences from the comic strip and the TV series.

McGruder did this on purpose so that the comic strip and the show could be kept separate

and not depend on one another.

Because of this, a couple of characters didn't show up into the TV series, like Caesar.

I mean there was a rumor that he was going to be in season three, being voiced by Kali

Troy but that didn't happen.

Some characters from the comics got a redesign, and some relationships were changed between

characters.

Like how Riley, who has a low haircut in the comic strip but has braids in the TV series.

Cindy also went through a couple of changes, she wore her hair in a standard ponytail in

the comic strip and acted kinda ditzy, whereas in the TV series she has her hair in a braid

and talks in slang.

- This is our block, now you gonna get down, or you gonna lay down, and if they be like,

uh, I don't know, let me think about it, we pull out the roscoe and we be like bla-kow,

bla-kow.

- [TooBased] And she's best friends with Jasmine in the comic strip, and she hung out more

with Huey than she did with Riley, mainly because they were in the same class, but in

the TV version Cindy barely interacted with Huey and only associated with Jasmine during

the fundraising episode.

The show had a lot of surprise voice guests, like Lil Wayne, Katt Williams, Snoop Dogg,

Adam West, Charlie Murphey, even Sway.

Tara Strong's there too, but, come on, she's on everything.

Oh, and fun fact, Thugnificent was originally supposed to be voiced by Ludacris, but he

backed out at the last minute.

So Carl Jones who was a producer on the show voiced him instead.

- [Carl] When we created this character Thugnificent, originally that was supposed to be Ludacris.

He had this deal with Ludacris.

So he said he would do the show, and he would play Thugnificent if I drew his album cover.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] So I was like, cool, so you know I started working on some ideas for the album

cover, and then every time I tried to get in touch with him I could never reach him

because I was trying to get some feedback.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- So time passed, time passed, time passed.

Finally I did get him on the phone, except I had to block my number to get him.

So I got him on the phone-- and he was like yo, who dis, and I was like, yo this is Carl

from The Boondocks.

He was like, well yo, you know, normally I don't answer the phone if I don't see a number

I recognize.

I'm like, but you did this time?

He was like, he said, yeah but what you want.

I said, well I'm trying to do this cover or whatever, and he was like, well I ain't got

time right now.

So he got off the phone, and the cover never got done.

- [Interviewer] Hmm.

- [Carl] So what happened was, when it was time for him to record, he was like, I'm not

gonna do the part because y'all never did my album cover.

I'm like, nigga we been trying to get in touch with you for four months, you know.

So anyways, he backed out at the last second.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] So, what happened is, I temped the voice in the animatics just so that the animators

could have something to work with.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] And because Aaron really liked it and thought it worked, I just ended up doing

it.

You know, we didn't have any time.

- [TooBased] In 2007, McGruder won a Peabody award for the episode Return of the King.

This is when season two was just about to wrap up with a third season in the works and

being made.

People were raving about the episodes, giving them positive reviews, but as you know, good

things don't last.

Entering the third season, the writing felt a little off.

Honestly, season three was okay to me, I probably only liked three episodes out of the whole

season.

Well, at least Tom got some character development.

- You can't have it.

- [TooBased] Towards the end of season three, Carl Jones and Aaron McGruder had a small

falling out, mainly because Carl Jones had to take some time away from The Boondocks

to go and work on Black Dynamite, and I guess McGruder wasn't too pleased.

- [Carl] Okay, I left after the third season, right?

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] Part of the reason why I left is because I was developing a few other things

towards the tail end of that season.

I wasn't going to leave, I was just developing other stuff, but Aaron wasn't really too cool

about the fact that I was developing other things like Black Dynamite.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] So, he and I, we had a big fallout over that.

- [Interviewer] Mmm.

- [Carl] To the point where he didn't want me on the show anymore, because, you know,

it was a real, I don't even want to say family.

It was like a gang, really.

You know, you rockin' with Boondocks or you don't rock with nothing else.

- [Interviewer] Yeah.

- [Carl] At the same time, and I didn't quite understand that, so that's where we had a

big misunderstanding.

And then from there, it was, you know, I went on to do Black Dynamite and he was trying

to get another season going, season four you know it took forever.

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] I remember at one point, we tried to work something out, like I was willing

to come back to the show and we were gonna try to work things out and he still, you know,

he didn't want it to happen.

- [TooBased] After season three ended, Aaron McGruder no longer worked on the show.

According to Carl Jones, Sony said McGruder wrote too slow and the show was falling behind

production.

Apparently Sony ordered 15 to 20 episodes for season four of The Boondocks, but only

got ten episodes.

- [Carl] Sony.

- [Interviewer] Mmm.

- [Carl] Is gonna cut the bleeding off.

- [Interviewer] Yeah.

- [Carl] So to my knowledge, because I wasn't actually there during the fourth season, but

to my knowledge the show was falling way behind production and eventually they had to you

know cut their losses because they couldn't-- I think they did like a 15 or 20 episode order

or something like that and they--

- [Interviewer] Mhmm.

- [Carl] And I think they delivered 10 I believe.

- So Aaron McGruder's so sick mad at Sony Pictures.

- Yeah, yeah.

- He sold his rights to TB to Sony, and they wanted to go three more years after this year.

- Yeah.

- But they wanted him to do three shows a week, he said, I can't write that fast.

They fired him and got some poot-butts to write.

- Oh.

- So he quit, and uh, we done.

- [TooBased] Sony even tried to get rid of the original voice cast but they couldn't

find anyone who had a close enough voice to match the original cast, the only person that

got replaced was Jasmine's voice actress.

- Get somebody to do my voices, all our voices, get the, out of here, people said, I can't

do no damn Spoon voice.

- [TooBased] Season four was kinda weird.

For some reason, Granddad became the main focus of that season.

And why bring Stinkmeaner back as a clone?

When the Freemans fought against Stinkmeaner's friends that was a perfect end to that trilogy.

Why ruin it by bringing him back as a clone?

- Do you understand what I've just told you?

- I'm a clone.

- Yes, created at this secret and highly illegal underground human cloning facility.

- Why am I so old?

- What?

- If you cloned me when you say you did, shouldn't I still be a little kid?

- [TooBased] Season four was definitely the most weakest season, the show didn't get picked

up for a season five.

Adult Swim just aired the reruns from time to time, until they eventually just took it

off the schedule altogether.

Right now Carl Jones is working on a show for Adult Swim called Lazor Wulf.

Regina King who voices Huey and Riley is still doing her acting thing for shows like the

Watchmen series.

As for John Witherspoon...

- Bang, bang, bang, bang.

- [TooBased] Well, he's being John Witherspoon.

As for Aaron McGruder, it seems that he wants to make a Boondocks app game, but doesn't

know what apps will let him get away with.

But judging from the comic strip he just released, it's safe to say that The Boondocks will be

back in some form of media.

So, that's it for this video.

This video kinda took me a while to research, but I had a lot of fun making it.

Plus it kinda gave me an excuse to re-watch The Boondocks episodes.

WHAT ABOUT GOD? Demonstration Lesson for Kids (Wes Fittell) PART 3 - Duration: 12:36.

hi there guys hi everyone this is wes and wes fittell has been in kids

ministry for how many years over 40 years over 40 years

anyway today he's been doing a training session

and so I'm gonna be uploading some parts of his training session so enjoy!

give you just a quick demo okay yeah the first thing we can know that we can find

out from this which is the world where did that come from

actually the Bible tells us that God made it and the amazing thing is

the Bible tells us that God keeps it together

hold it all in place and all the other things that are around it it also tells

us that he was actually able to make that just by speaking he also made the

Stars how many other of those? if God is able to do all of that what

does that tell us about God? well you could change powerful that that wouldn't

be enough actually the exciting thing is that is that God is all-powerful so

let's show you muscles boys and girls and we'll say God is all powerful let's do it

again God is all powerful okay this is a compass and the needle is pointing to

normal supposing I follow that compass all the

way to the North Pole would God be there? what if I went the other directions or

just kept going in the same direction and ended up in the south pole, would God be

be there? - what happens

and came back right through western australia right

back to here would you ever get away from God? why not? okay because the next

thing we can know about God is that God is everywhere. let's do that God is

everywhere . so now we know two things God is all poweful God is

everywhere. terrific yeah what's that?

birthday cake. how old is the person who is having a birthday? one yes

hey if you're making your birthday cake for God how many candles would you put

on it? any idea I think the real answer is probably none because you

actually celebrating the anniversary of when this person started living when

did God start living? he never did! because He always was

there always will be there. that's the next amazing thing that God is that God

has -we're going to make a spiral that goes one I've gone on and got both

directions God has always lived. Wow so now we know 3 things about god. God is

all-powerful God is everywhere and God has always lived. when I was a kid my big

sister and my cousin found this big box at home with old photos and things

found a photo of my dad and we didn't know it was my dad. took it to my mum

and said "who is this in the photo?" and she said 'that's your dad' we said "no it's not!"

because the man in the photo looked like that and our dad looked like that

what was the difference? yeah

here is question? who knows exactly how many Hairs my father lost off his head?

who knows? God does. because the next important thing you

know about God is that God knows everything. so now we've got what 1 2

3 4 things God is all powerful, God is everywhere, God has always lived and

God knows everything ok you know something

he's always lived is all powerful is everywhere, but there's something that you

and I have that God doesn't have. never has had and never will have.

what is it that we have that God doesn't have?

'sin'

amazing thing about God because he's perfect never does anything wrong

God and here we gonna put hand on and shake their heads say no

but I hand over heart and push it away as if you're trying to get rid all that bad

stuff because every one of us have done things we know shouldn't do so let's

always lived, God knows everything and God has no sin.

wouldn't be terrific to know someone like this?

would it be greatt to know someone that had a friend is so powerful that he could do

anything and really care for you wouldn't it be great to know someone

whose everywhere said no matter where you went

he'd be there with you to look after you be a friend and to use his power to

care for you. and to give you advice because he knows everything

to know that he never ever not be there because he has always lived and always will.

that's a pretty amazing friend to have. did you know something God has no sin

and God hates sin so because of the things we've done wrong

in one sense we can't know God. We can't be with God. God knew about that. he did

something pretty amazing. he sent His Son Jesus to come into the world to die on a cross being treated

like a really bad criminal and he did that to take the punishment for all the

wrong things I've done for the wrong things that my wife has done and I

she has done some... but not as many as I have. For all the

wrong things you've done too - if God did that so that we could be forgiven and be

friends with him - what does that tell us about God?

God loves me. give yourself a big hug let's do it - God loves me. okay so he's a whole bunch of things

we could know about God God is all-powerful God is everywhere God has

always lived God knows everything God has no sin God and GOD LOVES ME.

Wouldn't He be a great God to know? He sure is.

so can you see what we've been doing there it's all

very simple stuff okay they've heard it. they've seen it they've seen it in ways

with with visuals that link to their world

okay we've made simple statements now notice what we've been talking about

this is actually you know this is theology we're talking we're talking

about God's omnipotence we're talking about God's eternal nature we're talking at

God's omnipresence, we're talking about god's omniscience we're talking about his

holiness and we're talking about about agape love. Do we use those words? no we didn't

need to because we've explained the concepts in simple ways and we've done

in simple words. are the kids can understand all of this?

and remember it? actually not yet... but they'll get there getting a long way towards it.

Now how can we make it really stick a bit better?

I can do it more than once so let's go through them and say all of those things

again here we go really god is all powerful - God is everywhere - God has always lived -

God knows everything - God has no sin - and God loves me.

Now what we need to do we're

going to find out why in a bit - we're gonna have the kids recall this

so what you could do is easily play a game. ok I'm gonna do an action and I'm looking

for the first hand up from someone who can tell me which of these things goes

with this action. I'm still waiting for hand okay God has no sin.

God has no sin okay another one

God has always lived let's say that together God has always lived.

here's another one. God loves me. let's do that together God loves me now

notice what procedure I've been following here with asking

simple answers asking simple questions and getting answers what you seek

everything easy I've been using hands up yet I'm going to tell you in a bit

why you don't always get hands up to a lot of the questions you shouldn't hands

up but yeah but what else have I been doing here?

I've been asking you a question you've been giving the answer but I've been

doing two other things to make this this response more powerful

well the actions are part of it - yes

okay well we'll get onto that in a little bit but there's something else

I'm just increasing their exposure to it first of all they give the answer

I read replied with their answer for two reasons one I want everyone to hear it and

see it not everyone can from in the classroom in the audience okay let's

first reason - the other gives me a chance to clean it up so that if it's not quite

the way I wanted to come through I could get it through do I don't want it to get

through and even in mind see any think they heard the same thing twice but just

cleans it up okay so that's the other thing and then what was the next thing I

did yeah I got you to do it because you see you have been hearing seeing saying

and doing and we're reinforcing your learning is that helpful yeah

any questions on what we done? yet look you can take a photo of it I can point you

to a book that has it in it if you go into the OAC ministry's website they've

got a book called teaching kids Bible truths that has that in it

We as Christians like do two things to get the gospel across what do we do?

We preach sermons and answer questions what did Jesus do? -

he told stories and asked questions

and questions are amazing learning tools - they're amazing teaching tools

hey guys did you enjoy some of that training? if you did make sure you give it a

thumbs up if you liked more ideas like this go ahead and subscribe and I want

to thank you Wes. thank you so much it's been my pleasure I love doing this

What Do You Face When Trying To Sell Your Home Yourself? with Keith Bryan - Duration: 2:31.

- For sale by owner, can you do the job of a professional?

Anyone who has ever sold a home with an agent before,

no doubt has looked at the closing statement

and seen how much money they paid in commission.

And I'm sure you've asked yourself,

"Could I have done this myself and saved all that money?".

Well, it's doable.

But before you take on that responsibility,

here are four things to give consideration to.

One, agents are home marketing specialists.

First and foremost, agents know how to use MLS,

open houses, broker previews, circle dialing,

picking up the phone calling, putting out open house signs,

doing mailers,

canvasing the area for prospective buyers,

photography, video.

And let me ask you, did you want to do all that?

I didn't think so.

Hey, but I do!

Did I mention our trademarked

Seven Day Launch Marketing Plan?

With premium placement on Zillow, Realtor, and Trulia?

I didn't?

Well call me, it's marketing on steroids.

Number two, agents bring qualified buyers.

No matter how clearly it's stated,

shown by appointment only,

you're going to get that strange knock on your door

from a stranger wanting to come in and see your house.

And my question to you is,

do you want to just let anyone in your house?

I didn't think so.

And here's the kicker,

most of them aren't even pre-qualified

with a mortgage company.

Number three, agents are expert negotiators.

You might be confident in your negotiation skills,

but more than likely they're not specific to real estate.

Here's just a list of the people

that you'll have to negotiate with,

the buyer, the buyer's agent, the buyer's bank,

the appraiser, the inspector, the title company,

just to mention a few.

Agents, we make a living negotiating contracts

and homes sold with an agent can net up as

much to 6% more, than those sold for sale by owner.

And number four, agents, we know our contracts.

The home purchase contract is several pages

of dense legal language and one mishap

can cost you a boatload of money.

Agents, we're not legal advisors,

but we know how to navigate a contract,

how to fill out a contract,

and how to negotiate the best deal possible for you

to get you to a successful closing.

In conclusion, it's doable, a for sale by owner.

But before you take that big leap,

you may give consideration to these four complexities

and ask yourself, would I be better off hiring

a professional like me?

Success through money, through property, through business, through fame and through authority. These are our benchmarks.

The more a person a rich, famous, has authority, has big business, has property the more he is successful!

Actually this is the main point, whatever image you have in your mind regarding success you will put all of your efforts for it.

You will struggle for it, spend your energy on it, you will spend your day and night for it

This is the thing that has been negated here!

Success is not through wealth, fame, power or authority but in reality the success is through Imaan(Faith), good deeds, enjoining each other with patience and truth.

Pay attention on this point, on this attitude, the mental attitude; if this gets changed it will change the personality of a human being.

Now what's your result? If success was through wealth then Qaroon was very successful

If success was through authority then Firawn and Namrood were very successful.

Success is not through this; if a person accumulates wealth equivalent to the wealth of Qaroon and in terms of authority he acquires the position as that of Firawn and Namrood

He is still unsuccessful and totally destroyed. But Hazrat Abu Zar Ghifari is successful even if he had nothing

He didn't even have a place to live.

The Prophet of Allah has said that there are some servants of Allah, if they want to go in a gathering they don't get permission.

If they want to marry someone, no one is ready to marry them.

If they want to say something, no one listens to them.

But in the sight of Allah they have such a high status that if they take a vow, Allah fulfills their vow.

Know one thing that it is very easy to believe this and appreciate this but it very difficult to change your own thought process according to it.

This is because we get affected by our surroundings, the houses that we see, the fast car that passes by

Something comes in the heart that how lucky these people are, how happy and how successful they are but we don't know that maybe this would be the biggest loss!

If real success gets into our mind; this is why the Qur'an always says these are the one who are successful

Oh Believers! Bow and prostate, worship your Lord and do good works so that you may be successful!

So success is from which things? This is the biggest lesson, if this thing settles in our heart then our life would change, day and night would change, our goals would change, value structure would change

Today that thing is looking good, tomorrow it won't look so!

Just like there is hadith of the Prophet of Allah, "What is the world to me? What am I to the world? Verily, the example of this world and myself is that of a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it behind." Musnad Ahmed 3701

Just like we say that we belong to Allah and to him is our return

Hadith: 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler."

But when will we abide by this? Only when this ayah gets embedded in our minds.

This is the important thing that I told, why did Sahaba kept each other reminding?

Just like when you go outside and there's snow fall, the snow will get stuck into your clothes, you brush them off.

When we get attracted by our surroundings, dust gets settled on our imaan, snow surrounds it

It's important that we constantly brush them off and the best way to brush it off is to remember that success is not in these things

The glitter of this world that's attracting you, that has indulge yourself in it, on this word I am remembering the couplet of Iqbal

A disbeliever gets distinct by getting lost in life Whereas a Muslim true keeps above its brawl and strife.

You don't get lost in this world. The love of this world shouldn't overwhelm you.

That's why you should oft remember the Surah Asr

Again refresh this thought that Success is not through wealth, fame, power or authority but in reality the success is through Imaan(Faith), good deeds, enjoining each other with patience and truth.

These are the four things that are important for success!

Magnify Your Colin: What's the deal with Latter-day dating? - Duration: 5:39.

I'm Colin Rivera

and THIS is Magnify Your Colin.

I'm a Mormon, but I didn't grow up in the U.S.

I've heard that Utah Mormon dating is pretty unique so I've

come here, to Provo Center Street,

the heart of Mormon dating,

to find out what it's all about.

As a hard-hitting journalist I wasn't going

to take the easy way out,

I had a huge list of questions that needed answers

and I was going to get them.

There's people on dates, we're gonna find them.

Excuse me, are you guys on a date?

Yes

They're on a date.

Would you like to be in our video about dating?

Yeah.

What number date is this?

One!

Number one!

What's the weirdest thing you've ever been asked on a date?

Someone asked me if I would kill someone

for a chicken nugget.

Would you?

No.

What is a DTR? What's that all about?

Oh, we're so professional at that.

Determine the relationship?

Define the relationship.

So you literally just like sit down right?

and you're like, "Wannabe boyfriend? Wanna be my girlfriend?"

Is that how it goes?

Yep.

Yep.

Okay if a date isn't going very well, what is the best way to end it?

Side hug.

Hey can you tell...me I've heard a lot about this "side hug"...

What is the side hug?

Ahhhhh.

How many years should...

sorry, I read that wrong,

how many WEEKS should you date

before you get married?

This is the first date... on the count of three

I want you guys to say, at the same time,

how many kids you guys want in the future.

3...2...1...

Four Twelve.

4 and 12!

Would you kill someone for a chicken nugget?

Yes. Totally.

They answered that really quickly.

Do you notice where we're standing right now?

We did notice that.

Okay, I mean...

Second date, dude.

Fair enough. Sorry, I'm from Europe.

Uhhhh...

There's a camera!

Can I get a side hug from you guys?

Can I get a side hug?

Sure.

Side hug.

Can I have a side hug?

I was starting to understand the world of Mormon dating,

including this whole "side hug" thing.

Producer: Hey, Colin. We think you need to kinda cool it with the hug stuff.

Colin: Yeah, but they're side hugs...it's fine.

Producer: But...but... Colin: They said it was fine.

Producer: It's getting kind of creepy.

I'm just getting in with the youths and stuff.

Producer: Well, just stop.

Ahhhh, come on.

If my time on the mean streets of Provo

had taught me anything it was that asking questions alone

wasn't gonna cut it.

I had to jump in with both feet.

Oh, OH! Excuse me...excuse me...

What is your name?

Uhhh...my name's Dean.

What are you up to tonight?

Um, nothing. I was just coming back from a study group...

Would you like to go on a blind date with someone tonight?

I can make it happen.

Dean: Can I ask what all this is for?

Colin: Stay right here. You're going on a blind date tonight.

This is gonna happen!

Excuse me... are you on a date?

No. Colin: Can I set you up on a blind date?

Would you like to be set up on a blind date? No. Okay!

Excuse me...Excuse me...

How would you like to get set up on a blind date tonight?

What? No.

Colin: Alright. fine.

Wait, where'd you get that?

After an exhaustive search for a date for my new best friend, Dean

I was, inexplicably, coming up short!

But, I wasn't about to let him down.

Guys, guys, okay. I think I'm really close.

I'm gonna find someone really soon but

I just need a few more minutes...

Just in case, Jasmine, would you do it?

Uh, I mean, I guess.

Colin: He's cute. Are you down?

Sure, yeah.

Colin: Thank you, Jasmine!

I had it on good authority that ice cream

seemed to give new love its

best chance to bloom.

So we headed over to Ptown's hottest parlor.

Dean: You know what's really good? The brownie sundaes here are super good.

Jasmine: Ooo, that sounds good. I'll have that.

Can we get two brownie sundaes?

Dean: Where are you from? Jasmine: California...

Dean: Cool. What part?

Jasmine: Sacramento.

Dean: Okay, cool. I, uh, this last summer I was in LA working...

Jasmine: Oh, cool. Doing what? Dean: Summer sales.

While Jasmine and Dean tried to find SOMETHING in common,

I used my superior journalism skills

to help them make a deeper connection.

Jasmine: Me and my sister used to do musicals growing up.

Dean: Really? What musicals have you been in?

Colin: I was in Les Mis when I was a kid too!

Like a local production... but, it was fun yeah...

Okay, so I think it's going REALLY well.

They've been talking it up. It's been absolutely awesome...

I mean.... I mean, they're on their phones a lot but,

like, young millennial Mormons on a date... that's how people communicate these days.

Dean: Would you excuse me real quick?

I'm just gonna run to the restroom. I'll be right back.

How do you think it's going?

Do you see those little stick figure decals

on the back of your future mini-van?

Dean! Dean! Look, man.

We're doing really well, but, I think we can step it up a notch.

Why don't you share the advice from your Mission President?!?

Guys. This...this is fun.

Right? Dean: (weakly) yeah!

You guys are having fun? Dean: (weakly) yeah.

It's, alright I guess....

You got a little ice cream there...

oh, thank you! No problem.

I did this, guys!!! This is gonna be great!

They're gonna get married... it's gonna be amazing!

I did Mormon dating!!!!

Is now a good time for a DTR?

Well, I think we can all agree that my work here is done.

I've conquered Mormon dating.

I've created a celestial bond of love

that will last and will never be broken

from generation to generation.

THAT'S how it's done.

Wait! Wait!

What about the side hug???

I wanted you to know that there's gonna be a second date!

What?

I did this!!!!

I think I had a little help?

What is Thundersnow? What Causes This Rare Winter Storm? - Duration: 1:01.

- [Narrator] Curious?

Go in depth with CSU experts on The Conversation.

First, a conversation starter.

- Thundersnow is pretty unusual.

(thunder rumbles)

Lightning is the thing that causes the sound,

causes the thunderclap.

Lightning is really just nothing but a spark.

Lightning is a static electricity spark,

just like if you scuff your feet on the carpet

and then touch the light switch or whatever,

you get a shock.

This isn't your shoes.

This is clouds moving up and down past each other.

Normally around here, we have thunder in the summer,

but if there's a really big snow storm coming in,

quite often, you'll get the cold air

actually running out over the top of the warm air,

and that cold air is heavy,

and it will literally fall down through the warm air,

and all that mixing in the vertical

will make the rubbing that is required

to make that lightning bolt,

and therefore, you get thundersnow.

- [Narrator] There's more to learn from CSU

and a world of experts at TheConversation.com.

What the "Hello" wikiHow? - Duration: 2:21.

Hi everybody, BigBong here!

The other day, one of my Instagram followers

sent me a message in French

It started in a very weird way

so I asked "where did you learn that?"

She replied it was on wikiHow

I was so shocked because

there are so many interesting things you can learn there

like "how to survive the Apocalypse"

or "how to ask your boss for a one night stand"

I'm not saying I did it...

Or even that I intended to do it...

I'm just curious in general, aren't you guys?

Anyway, back to the topic

The article we're talking about is "3 ways to say hello in French"

The 2 first ones are correct

"Bonjour" or more casually "salut"

but the third one is very strange!

They say it's "tiens"

but as a Frenchman I've never heard that in my life!

Let me quote it for you

State "Hé" or "Tiens" in casual settings too

Both terms are not as standard or formal as "bonjour"

but they are used to say "hello" in settings that are not especially formal

"Hé" is best translated as the English "hey"

The term is pronounced similarly

with the é sounding close to the English ei

Another informal greeting used amongst friends is "hé là!"

This translates into "Hey there!"

Seriously, I have no idea where this comes from!

My guess would be Google translate

Alright, let me clarify

"Hé" is actually used in French

but it's more an interjection to get someone's attention

A very common variation would be "hé ho"

Hey, are you listening to me?

"Tiens" comes from the verb "tenir"

which literally means "to hold"

So you would typically say that when you give something to someone

"Tiens" as in "here"

Here, it's for you!

Now, back to our context

when seeing someone you could indeed use "tiens"

or "tiens donc", but it's an expression

only used to express your surprise

And to go a bit further, it's not always a good form of surprise

You would definitely use it when seeing someone

you don't particularly want to see, like your ex for example

Huh, what the hell is she doing here?

So in a real life situation, I might indeed use "hé" or "tiens"

to get someone's attention or to show my surprise

but not to actually say "hi"

It should look something like "oh hi!"

or "oh hey, hello!"

Or maybe I'm crazy!?

If so, please let me know in the comments and I'll see a doctor

Maybe it's an expression everyone uses except when I'm around

"Tiens !" I'm sorry, it just doesn't feel natural to me

Anyway, if I'm right then I'd be a bit disappointed with wikiHow

I don't know if these articles are reviewed or can be edited

but I don't think it's that difficult to find

a native French person to check such a common expression

I'm sorry if I sound angry... I am!

So please don't use "tiens" to say "hi"

when meeting someone or starting a message

I mean it!
